Bill was a graduate of Tucson High School. His high school years included a detour into the United States Army in 1942. He was sent to the South Pacific where he participated in the Island Hopping Campaign. By the grace of God and the courage of Harry Truman he returned to Tucson at the victorious conclusion of WWII. Upon his return he learned of the death of his beloved brother, Jack who was a member of the United States Army Air Corp. serving in the European Theatre.
He went on to college at the University of Arizona. Active in the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity, School Government and IFC. His willingness to serve culminated in his selection to Bobcats, the Senior Men's Honorary. The University of Arizona always held a special place in his heart. A lifelong democrat, Bill believed strongly in our great democracy. He was active in many political campaigns over the years. His love of the political arena drew him to run, unsuccessfully, for the State Senate. Bill served on the Tucson Planning and Zoning Commission with one year as its chairman. For many years Bill was a member of the Tucson Rodeo and Parade Committees. Late February in Tucson was a time he truly enjoyed. His life's journey had a few bumps along the way. Some of them severe.
