KIMO LEE MANN - Died March 7, 1999. Victim of another shooting in a city that brags of clean air, clear skies, all but crime. May Kimo's spirit always live in the hearts of all those that knew him. Born in San Diego, raised in Arizona, third born of five. Leaving behind one sister, two brothers and his girlfriend, Esther. May his soul and spirit unite with his sister, Margo, who is waiting for his arrival in a place called heaven. May they guard and protect all those they love.
Visitation will be held Friday, March 13 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott Ave. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 14 at St. Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Reception will be held at Armory Park Center, 2205 S. 5th Ave. from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.

McKISSICK, Lucy, 92, of Tucson for the past 57 years, died March 10, 1999. preceded in death by husband of 71 years, James McKissick. Survived by sons, James E. (Arlene) and Charles (Virginia), both of Tucson; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Graveside Service, Saturday, March 13th, 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen cemetery, with Dr. Ed Nelson officiating. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

TINDELL, William Arnold, 82, passed away on March 9, 1999 in the VA Medical Center, Tucson. He was the husband of Novella M. (Simmons) Tindell. The couple was married for 55 years. Born in Grand Falls, MN, the son of the late William Douglas and Mary Kristin (Nelson) Tindell. He was a resident of Tucson, AZ for the past 32 years. He was a career military serviceman Master Sergeant with the US Air Force. During WW II, he trained B-29 crews. For the remainder of his career, he established engine build-up at several Air Force Bases throughout the country. He also served during the Korean and Vietnam Wars. In addition to his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a son, Robert (Marsha) Tindell of Tucson; three grandchildren, Tara Tindell of Las Vegas, NV, Michael (Anna) Tindell of Tucson, Billy Leverton of Westminster, CO; a great-granddaughter, Kristi Tindell of Tucson; three step-grandsons, Scott, Todd and David Acorn all of Tucson; three sisters, Minnie Buckmiller, Hazel Grenier and Mary Ellen Panchot, all of Littlefort, MN. He was predeceased by a son, William L. Tindell. He was a gentle giant loved by all. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 13, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd., followed by full military honors. There will be a viewing on Friday, March 12, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider. Entombment will take place in the East Lawn Palms cemetery Mausoleum.

VALENZUELA, Herminia M., 86, of Tucson, went to be with her Lord on March 10, 1999. Survivors include her children, Art (Eleanor) Valenzuela, Christina Ruelas, Clara (Harold) Botkin, Enedina Medina, Estella Rodriguez, Richard (Michael) Valenzuela, Rosemary (Ronald) Creekpaum, 17 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at ARIZONA MORTUARY, an Aftercare Provider, 7 E. University Blvd., Saturday, March 13, 1999 at 2:00 p.m.

COVARRUBIAS, Rosa Inocencia July 9, 1941 – March 8, 1999. Survived by daughter, Eleanor; sons, Joeangel and Leroy; grandchildren, Julianna, Alexander, and Daniel; sisters and brothers, Rachel Leyvas, Nellie Pachuca, Cruz Covarrubias, Jesse Covarrubias, Mary Tapia, and Lupe Covarrubias; many nephews, nieces, friends, and family. The lady, the laughter, the rose…forever young. We love you.

DICKENS, Durward Tilden, born January 1, 1928, died March 9, 1999, at age 71.

Dickens, Mary Elizabeth Dickens (Jeff), Richard Dickens (Shari), James Douglas Dickens (Mary); grandchildren who he never had a chance to meet, Cherie Ann, Elizabeth and Graymon Mostowy, Jr., James Mathew Wik (Michelle), Loretta Lynn Wik (Lewis), James Douglas Dickens, Jr. and Reginald Godsey.

GARCIA, Pedro Hernandez, 65, of Tucson, died March 10, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Maria Jesus Garcia; children, Mary Ellen Garcia, Martha Garcia, Henry Garcia, Ernesto Garcia, Robert Garcia, Pedro Garcia, Jr., all of Tucson; father, Jose Garcia of Nogales; sister, Maria Teresa Romo of Tucson; brother, Antonio Garcia of Tucson; 13 grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and close family friend, Jackie Randall of Tucson. Mass will be celebrated, Monday, March 15, 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral. Interment in Evergreen cemetery. Friends may call Sunday, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rosary service Sunday, 7:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

HARTNEY, Catherine G., 82, longtime resident of Tucson, died March 11, 1999. She is survived by children, Thomas (Diane), Kathleen Ross, Sheila (Geoff) Newman, Kevin, Maureen McGee and Hugh; seven grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, March 15, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. at Magee. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross, 4601 E. Age 66, passed away March 1, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. He was born March 15, 1932 in Twin Buttes, AZ. preceded in death by his mother, Romona Nunez Padilla. Survived by sisters, Celestina Sally L. Garcia (Mercy M.), Nellie Yolanda Altieri; stepbrother and sisters, Antonio (Terry) Padilla, Helen Padilla Myers of Superior, AZ, Mary (Frank) Vindiola, with many nieces and nephews all of Tucson, AZ. Sincere thanks to Lloyd Rich Home and all the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Desert Life Medical and West Center Hospital. A memorial service will be held at DESERT ROSE CREMATION & BURIAL, 2750 S. 4th Ave. #106, Tucson, AZ on Monday, March 15, 1999. Friends may gather at 12:00 p.m. and service to be held at 1:00 p.m.

DANIEL G. OTT, 49, died March 9, 1999 in Scottsdale, Arizona. Father of Danny Ott; grandfather of Mia Ott; fiancee of Janice Redeman; brother of Dorothy (Bill) Arens and Mary Kay (Harold) Pardew; uncle of Danielle (Dan) West, Nichole Arens and Matthew Arens. Great niece and nephews and numerous aunts and uncles also survive. Dan was the owner of Ottaria's Water and Ice House and an active member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 14 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL. Mass will be offered 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 15 at St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church, 1375 S. Camino Seco. SEVERSON, Daraleen May, 71, died March 10, 1999. Daughter of Lillian Goad; mother of Marc (Susan) Severson, Scott (Dolores) Severson and Eric (Judy) Severson; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Daraleen was an avid U of A Basketball and Football fan. Memorial Service 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 15, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. CAMPA, Felipe U., age 85 of Tucson, passed away March 12, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Rachel; sons, Frank (Veronica) Campa, Luis (Janet) Campa; daughters, Pat (Nick) Corona, Jenny (Ron) Torres, Laura (Arnold) Figueroa; grandchildren, Angelica, Ron, Vanessa, Nicholas, Amber, Chris, Sara, Aubrey, Jeremy, Tony, and Joe; great-grandchildren, Jazmyn, Mason, Alex, and Victoria. He was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Bisbee, Arizona. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at Ss. Peter and Paul Church. Friends may call at South Lawn Mortuary, 5401 S. Park Tuesday, March 16, 1999 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Interment South Lawn cemetery.

CAPUANO, Giovanna, 91 of Tucson, passed away March 13, 1999. She is survived by daughters, Julia Patla, Eleanor Huber, & Marie Marshall; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Louis Liccuri. preceded in death by husband Alfonso in 1966 and son Vincent in 1994. She was a member of the Italian American Club. Visitation will be Monday, March 15, 1999 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the rosary at 7:00 p.m. Monday at HUDGELS SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan. Funeral Mass will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at St. Josephs Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery.

DAGGETT, James Nathaniel Sr., died March 12, 1999 in the Villa Maria Care Center. He is survived by his wife, Gisele; three children, Susan M. (Bill) Black, James N. (Elizabeth) Daggett, Jr. and John S. (Andrea) Daggett; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jim was born on February 27, 1911 in Rochester, NH, graduated from Bentley College, Boston, MA, and worked as a public accountant. He married Gisele Lavoie in June 1939. Jim retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1979. Jim was a loving, caring person with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A mass in celebration of his life will be held on March 15, 1999 at Newman Catholic Student Center, 1615 E. 2nd Street at 10:00 a.m. Monday, followed by burial at East Lawn Palms cemetery.

Maria L. Hoffsmith - Beloved wife of Richard passed away March 13, 1999. Survived by loving daughters, Donna Casella, Lynn Thompson; grandchildren, Michael, Greg, Jeremy, Donna, Michele Casella, and Matthew Thompson; sisters, Anna Burruel, Clara Garcia, Virginia Cunningham; brothers, James Carpenter, Clarence Carpenter. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 1999 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (CENTER CHAPEL), 240 S. Stone Ave. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Tuesday, March 16, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church, 602 W. Ajo Way. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
