OSBURN, C. Raymond
October 11, 1923 – March 7, 1999.
C. Raymond Osburn of Tucson died Sunday. Mr. Osburn was born in California and moved to Tucson in 1946. His career included 20 years with Steinheimer's Books as manager, and later as owner/chef of Ray Osburn Catering Service.
He was active in the community as a member of the Tucson Rotary Club, the Arizona Historical Society, President of Pathfinders, board member of Libraries Limited, co-founder of the Elizabeth B. Sheinheimer Collection at the Tucson Public Library and Executive Director of the Pima County Council on Alcoholism.
He is survived by his sister, Roxie Stanton of Coalinga, CA; his brother, Richard Osburn of Yucca Valley, CA, and cousin, Diane Lent of Modesto, CA. A memorial service to be announced at a later date.
PHILLIPS, Elvira V. of Tucson died March 11, 1999. Elvira is survived by daughters, Gertrude (Jerome) Mikos, and Elizabeth Enos; grandchildren, Brittany and Daniel Severin, all of Tucson; numerous brothers and sisters; multitudes of nieces and nephews; and Special Friend Gayle Habel. RYTI, Jeraldine Carol, 63, died March 12, 1999. Wife of J.P. 'Jack' Ryti; mother of Dan Aumick of Rio Rico, AZ, Diana Stephenson and Jerry Aumick both of Tumacacori, AZ, Denise Martinez of Tucson and Janet Shepard of Logan, New Mexico; son of Edith Houser of Mishawaka, Indiana; brother of Beverly Reynolds of Elkhart, Indiana. 14 grandchildren also survive. SAVITT, Annette, 78, died on March 8, 1999. She was born in Rochester, New York on February 5, 1921. She was an administrator, instructor and owner of Ellis Business College in Elgin, Illinois. Before her retirement in 1990, she worked as an administrative assistant for Marshall Cole, accountant, in Los Angeles, California for twenty years. She was the daughter of Bernard and Jeanette Arkowitz. preceded in death by her brother Lawrence. She is survived by her sisters, Sylvia Bleile and Betty Chernetz of Tucson who will miss her dearly; Bernice Abromowitz of Sun City, Arizona; and Marilyn Bolton of Wilmington, Delaware. Also surviving her are one nephew, and four nieces. She loved bridge and epitomized fair dealing. She requested no services. The family suggest donations to Hospice. ADAMS, Marie J., 79, of Sun City Vistoso, passed away March 13, 1999. She is survived by her son, Michael of Tucson and two sisters, Verna Davis and Lavonne Roberts, both of Sleepy Eye, MN. SHEILA STEWART BALL - Came to America in 1946 from Glasgow, Scotland as a war bride, after she completed her contract with the British Broadcasting Corporation as a light opera singer.
She married
Douglas E. Ball and they traveled the world while Mr. Ball was in the U.S. Air Force.
Sheila leaves four daughters and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, 1999 at Sunrise Chapel, 8421 E. Wrightstown Rd., with Rev. Frank Rose officiating.

BEDOLLA, George, 45, died March 10, 1999. preceded in death by his father, Louis Bedolla. Survived by wife, Deborah and daughter, Ysela of Tucson; mother, Fermina; son, Thomas Levon; and sisters, Yolanda, Elsie and C.C. of California. George will be deeply missed by family members and friends. Services and interment will be in Los Nietos, California, March 19, 1999.
HARRY LEON CORNELIUS, JR., 55, was born July 4, 1943, and rode the last train out on March 12, 1999, following a tenacious battle with cancer. He was a native Tucsonan, a 1961 graduate of Catalina High School, and attended the University of Arizona. Harry truly loved his work as a railroad conductor for 33 years as well as being a representative for and mentor to his fellow workers.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 19 years, Mary Catherine (nee Frye) Cornelius; his parents, Harry L., Sr. and Marie Luz (nee Ortiz) Cornelius; five children, Denise (Ken) Newman of Scottsdale, Tara (Carry) Kuhl of Missoula, Montana, Tiffany (Paul) Niehart of Albuquerque, Scott (Kim) Goodwin of Tucson, Todd Cornelius of Tucson; nine grandchildren and one more on the way; brothers, Richard M. (Tucson), Donald L. (Peggy) (Kodiak, Alaska), and John Mark (Tucson); and by numerous family members, many friends and co-workers at the railroad, all of whom were inspired by his courage, determination, guidance, and integrity.
In 1980 he married
Mary Catherine Frye, the 'love of his life, ' and raised five wonderful children. Harry loved spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life and who lovingly called him 'Papa.' Harry and Cathy built their dream home together and, as a true team, fought the toughest battle of their lives.
He was so dedicated to his work thathe was ready to 'mark-up' for duty right to the end. He played by the rules and took life as it came to him with nary a complaint. He was a straight shooter; you always knew where you stood, and no words were left unspoken.
His love for the outdoors included hunting, fishing and spending time with his many friends.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses, and all the other caregivers for their concern, commitment and constant dedication in helping Harry and Cathy. The family is grateful for all those who came to the Hospice to celebrate Harry's life.It was a heck of a party!
In appreciation for the wonderful care provided to Harry, the family requests that donations be made to the Tucson Medical Center Hospice, 5301 East Grant Road 85712, in lieu of flowers.

FIGUEROA, Joaquin Miguel, age 65, died March 11, 1999. JOHNSON, Virginia Julia, 85, the widow of Glen F. Johnson, died March 14, 1999. preceded in death by a son, Lance Johnson, of Cottonwood, AZ. Virginia is survived by a daughter, Patty (Bob) Grant and a son, Glen E. (Shirley) Johnson of Tucson, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Mark (Esther) Olson of Tucson. Services will be private. MEADE, Eileen, 92, died March 14, 1999 in Tucson. Eileen was born December 15, 1906 in Mullagh, Ireland. Survived by one son, Michael J. (Barbara) Meade; one brother, John Joe Corry; one sister, Margaret McMalhon; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Eileen is preceded in death by her husband, James Michael Meade and three children, James, Thomas (Desmond) and Bob. RUDOLPH R. (RUDY) SAFFER, 87, a resident of Tucson since 1981, passed away peacefully March 14, 1999, following a stroke. Rudy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice; and three children, William (Sandy) Saffer of Las Vegas, NV, Donald (Susan) Saffer and Shirley (Joseph) Hanold, both of Tucson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan (Elizabeth), Jeffrey, Michael and Danielle. Rudy was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart in France in 1944. Rudy was a member of Temple Emanu-El, and especially enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He will be missed by all. Special thanks to his friends at Bel-Air Care, especially Renee and Cindi, as well as the caring staff at the TMC Hospice Unit. Their heartfelt concern and love is appreciated by all. STOSS, Peter, 90, died at home on March 15, 1999 surrounded by his loving family. Survived by wife, Charlotte; children, Irene of MD, Vilma of Germany and Walter of Tucson. Mr. Stoss was born in Zagerb, Croatia on June 20, 1908. He left his beloved country to aid the British troops in Italy as a civilian and then moved to Argentina. He immigrated with his family to the U.S. in 1961 where he worked for the Princeton University Forrestal Center for five years. He came to Tucson in 1966 and worked in the Physics Dept of the University of Arizona for 22 years, retiring in 1989. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider. Graveside Service 10:00 a.m., Thursday at East Lawn Palms cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. WILLIAMS, Helen H., age 82, of Tucson, passed away after a long illness on March 13, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband, William G. Williams, and she is survived by her daughter, Ann (Jeff) Bennon; and grandchildren, Brian Neil Bennon, Brady William Bennon and Stacy Ann Bennon. Helen taught Physical Education for over 30 years in the Tucson Unified School District. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5401 S.
