WRIGHT, Marya W., 78, slipped away from her family on March 14, 1999 after courageously transcending cancer for ten years. She was preceded by her beloved husband, Professor Arthur F. Wright in 1976. A Memorial Mass will be held at Santa Catalina Catholic Mission, 14380 North Oracle Road in Oro Valley at 11:00 a.m.on Tuesday, March 16.
Marya Wright was born in Poland and became a registered nurse (she received her training at Union Memorial Hospital in Baltimore), an archaeologist (she studied at Brandeis University), and an assistant to the late Professor John K. Fairbanks of Harvard University East Asia Center. She advised graduate students at the Center in the 1960s. She was a member of the International Association of Culinary Professionals, published articles in Gourmet and The Pleasures of Cooking magazines and taught gourmet cooking classes.
She is survived by her four children, Nathaniel Welch of Concord, MA, Paul Welch of San Diego, CA, Marina Y. Christie of Harvard, MA and Barbara W. Orlovsky of Dallas, TX. Her children were born of her 28 years of marriage to the late Holmes H. Welch of Boston. Mrs. Wright has fifteen grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Paul Wankowicz of Winchester, MA and by her two stepsons, Jonathan Wright of Florence, MA and Duncan Wright of Portland, ME. The family requests that donations be made in her name to the Arizona Cancer Center. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott Ave.

ANDREACCIO, Frank Anthony, 57, beloved husband, father, papa and the man forever to be remembered as THE GODFATHER (owner of Godfather Pest Control) passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on March 9, 1999. He was born in Riverside, NJ on August 26, 1941, but made Tucson his home with his family since 1977. Frank is survived by Heather, his loving wife of over 36 years and the best nurse he ever knew; four sons, Dave (Linda), Bob, Jack (Jen) and Tony; and five grandchildren, Rebecca, Vanessa, Marae, David and Nicholas. A memorial service will be held at the St.Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N.Shannon Rd., Saturday, March 20, 1999 at 12:15 p.m. Following the service, a gathering to celebrate his life will be held for family and friends at his home at 6259 N. Sanders Rd., Tucson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in Frank's memory.

CARPENTER, Leona K., 84, died March 15, 1999. Mother of Sandra K. (David A.) Gold, David Jessie Carpenter and Jerry Coyle; grandmother of four grandchildren; sister of George (Helen) Kinder, many nieces and nephews also survive. preceded in death in 1986 by her husband of 43 years, Forrest Carpenter. Leona graduated in 1937 from Lakeview Hospital School of Nursing in Danville, Ill. She was a retired registered nurse after 44 years – mostly with the Army Air Corps and Hines V.A. Hospital in Illinois. She was a resident of Green Valley for many years where she was active with Friends in Deed and a member of the Green Valley Presbyterian Church. Remembrances will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 18th at Broadway Proper, 400 S. Broadway Pl. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to The Heart Association, 5325 E. Pima, T/A 85712. DIAMOND, Eileen R., of Tucson (formerly of Springfield, MA) died March 15, 1999. Eileen is survived by husband, Ernest; son, David (Diane) Diamond; grandchildren, Hannah, Isabel, Bonnie, all of Tucson; sister, Ruth Chernick and many nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be at East Lawn cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 18. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Handmakers Jewish Geriatric Center or Tucson Jewish Community Center. JOHNSON, Virginia Julia, 85, the widow of Glen F. Johnson, died March 14, 1999. preceded in death by a son, Lance Johnson, of Cottonwood, AZ. Virginia is survived by a daughter, Patty (Bob) Grant and a son, Glen E. (Shirley) Johnson of Tucson, nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews, including Mark (Esther) Olson of Tucson. Services will be private. Remembrances may be made to the Tucson Humane Society.

LEPPER, David R., 96, of Tucson, died March 13, 1999. He was preceded in death by his son, William B. Lepper. He is survived by his wife, Emily; son, F. David (Millie); daughters, Nancy (William) Austin, Barbara Todd; 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Exchange Club of North Tucson and Christ the King Episcopal Church. A memorial service will be held Friday, March 19, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. Ina Rd. CARMEN HART (NEE CERVANTES) MUIR, a member of a Pioneer family who emigrated from Mexico in 1913. Carmen died March 15, 1999 at the age of 87, following complications from Alzheimer's. She attended schools in Tucson and worked at Levy's and Gus Taylors. In 1937 she married Leonard Hart and moved to Los Angles till his death in 1959. Later Carmen married Walter Muir and they moved in 1988 to Portland, Oregon, on his demise she moved back to Tucson. preceded in death by her parents, Elena and Miguel Cervantes; sisters, Aurelia Estrada, Elena Mancillas; brothers, Manuel Alfonso and Hector Cervantes. Survived by sisters, Amparo Duran of CA, Edissa (Charles) Simpson of PA, Adelina (George) Hall and brother, Mike J. Cervantes of Tucson; and sisters-in-law, Betty Hughes Cervantes and Esperanza Morales Cervantes and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A private family memorial service will be held at the Mausoleum at Holy Hope cemetery, 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 29, 1999. Donations in Carmen's memory may be made to Carondelet Foundation, 350 N. PRICE, Cecil Edwin, Sr., 75, of Tucson, died Sunday, March 14, 1999. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Gertrude; daughter, Dawn Marie Carpenter; and son, John Michael Price. He is survived by his children, Cecil, Jr., Tom, Anna Boyd; grandchildren, Almitra, Tom, Jr., Phillip, Jerry, Neil, Kelli, JoAnn, Angela, Charlie; and great-granddaughter, Krystal. ROBICHAUD, Wilda T., age 88, of Tucson, AZ, died Sunday, March 14, 1999. preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Robichaud, Sr. She is survived by her three children, Jean Balcezak, Joseph F. Robichaud, Jr. and Prudence Duzan; two sisters, Gretchen True and Charlotte Somers; brother, Joseph True; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Wilda was a two year resident of Life Care Center of Tucson. Wilda was an active participant in a variety of activities. She was beloved by the staff and residents. Friends may call 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 17 with a Rosary at 7:00 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. @ Magee. RUDOLPH R. (RUDY) SAFFER, 87, a resident of Tucson since 1981, passed away peacefully March 14, 1999, following a stroke. Rudy is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice; and three children, William (Sandy) Saffer of Las Vegas, NV, Donald (Susan) Saffer and Shirley (Joseph) Hanold, both of Tucson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jonathan (Elizabeth), Jeffrey, Michael and Danielle. Rudy was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII, receiving a Bronze Star and Purple Heart in France in 1944. Rudy was a member of Temple Emanu-El, and especially enjoyed singing in the choir for many years. He will be missed by all. Special thanks to his friends at Bel-Air Care, especially Renee and Cindi, as well as the caring staff at the TMC Hospice Unit. Their heartfelt concern and love is appreciated by all. SHIPLEY, Eva, age 63, of Tucson, passed away March 14, 1999. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Denise Shipley and is survived by her husband, James Shipley; children, David, Mike, Vicki, Greg, and Scott; 12 grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. THOMAS, Tommie W., age 78, died March 14, 1999. She is survived by one son, Lenton V. Thomas; eight daughters, Betty Jo Berryman, Delanna Townsend, Jacqueline Johns, Yvonne Flowers, Shirley Dunn, Maiola Coleman, Gloria Fannigan and Tanya Thomas; extended children, Jimmy Thomas, Donald Thomas, Arnold Thomas, Dianne Clayton, Lavonne Booker and James Massengale. Mrs. Thomas was a Community Activist and Consultant and founder ofthe Center of Attention. She was a recipient of the 1993 Women on the Move Lifetime Achievement Award, 1995 Legacy Award recipient AARP and Centrum Silver, Diamond Awards 1992, The Grit Award, Tucson Community Service Award, make a difference Day USA and so much more. COX, Michael W., 46, of Tucson, died Tuesday, March 16, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Mitzi; daughter, Michele (Geoff) Gross; mother, Jean McCracken; grandmother, Sylva Abbott; sister, Linda Harris; brother, Tim (Cindy) Cox; nieces, Shannon Cox, Nicole Cox, Tobi Harris; nephews, Billy Cox, Corey Harris; great niece, Paige Graham; uncle, Joseph Branstetter; aunt, Anna (John) Howe; and many cousins. Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 1999 at HEATHER MORTUARY, 1040 N. Columbus Blvd., an Aftercare Provider.

GLUCK, Abraham, 74, of Tucson, died March 16, 1999 in Tucson. Mr. Gluck was born in Poland, and survived four years in various concentration camps during WWII. He came to America in 1950 and became a naturalized citizen. He was a very devoted husband and father of four, as well as a devoted father-in-law. Survivors include his wife, Fanny; three sons, John, Greg and Larry Gluck; daughter, Carol; and sisters, Gussie Zaks and Frania Unglick. He was also survived by 13 grandchildren, David and Michelle Gluck, Jason, Brian and Kyle Gluck, Stephen, Samantha, Joshua, Jennifer and Anthony Gluck, Tabitha, Adam and Jeremy Lewis. Graveside Service, Thursday, 12:00 noon at Congregation Anshei Israel Section of Evergreen cemetery, with Rabbi Arthur R. Oleisky officiating. HUFFMAN, Charles Robert, 79, died March 15, 1999. Father of Peggy (Kevin) Gellenbeck; grandfather of Sean Gellenbeck; brother of Martha Jarkow, Jerry and Jim Huffman. LARUE, Leah Hope, 89, passed away March 11, 1999. She was a resident of Tucson for 38 years. She is survived by her husband, Charles E., a son, Charles L. (Veronica Sainz), sisters, Thelma Gress and Pauline Miller of New Haven, W.Va., niece, Brenda Landeros (James) of Tucson, and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebratory service of her life will be held Sunday, March 21, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. at Sunrise Chapel, 8421 E. Wrightstown.

LIPMAN, Rose C., 93, of Tucson, died March 17, 1999. She was the beloved wife of the late Jack Lipman. She is survived by her children, Donna (Gordon Waterfall) Grant of Tucson, Michael (Linda) of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Ronald, Richard, James, Susan, Laura, and Julie; great-grandchildren, Emily, Jonah, Jacob, Jared, Sarah and Ethan; sister, Lillian Reifler of Toledo, OH. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 19 at the Temple Emanu-El Section of Evergreen cemetery with Rabbi Arthur Oleisky officiating. JAMES (JIM) MORGAN SR., 81, passed away peacefully March 15, 1999. Born February 6, 1918 in Nova Scotia, Canada. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Dorothy. A resident of Tucson since 1954, he worked at Hughes Aircraft as a Tool and Die Maker, and was supervisor before his retirement. He always enjoyed visits from old friends that were always there till his last days. He will be dearly missed by everyone. He is survived by his children, James, Jr., Ronald E., Alan and Glenn J.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A service will be held at West Ajo Baptist Church, Friday, March 19th at 4:00 p.m.

Julia Lucile Irvine Noon - (Known as 'Lucile' to family friends), 83, a long time resident of Nogales, Arizona died on March 16, 1999. She was preceded in earth by her husband of 47 years, Milford L. Noon, her parents, Marvin and Hazel Irvine, a brother Joseph, and her sister Sally. She is survived by a brother, Marvin; three sons, Milford Noon, Jr., Larry Noon, Bruce Noon; two foster daughters Deanna Nye, Marlene Bruder; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. Lucile, a native of Arizona, was born in Glendale, Arizona on October 2, 1915. She was an active volunteer, sharing her time with anything she was able to help with. Lucile was well known for her services to the United Churches Fellowship of Nogales. She was a volunteer weather observer for over 45 years. She provided care and love as a foster parent. In all capacities: wife, mother, grandmother, foster parent, friend, she served with untiring dedication and love. The ethics of her Christian beliefs were practiced daily. She exhorted us to move forward and always to strive to make life better. Lucile's ashes will be scattered in the mountains to mix with those of her husband. There will be a celebration of her life of caring and loving in Nogales at United Churches Fellowship at 11:00 on Saturday March 20, 1999. The family gives thanks to Lucile's caregivers at Lovecare for the outstanding care and compassion given to our mother. CHILLOCK, John S., of Tucson, AZ, and Corry Pennsylvania went to the great golf course in the sky on March 17, 1999. Do Vegenia! He was born in Edwardsville, Pennsylvania on July 21, 1918 and served in the Navy where he received a Presidential Citation for his service aboard the USS Bronstein during World War II. In 1978, he retired after 32 years of working for Pennsylvania Electric Company. He is survived by Anne, his wife of 56 years; three daughters, Elaine (Bob) Casler of Lockport, NY, Phyllis (Ron) Marx of Tucson, AZ, Cynthia Chillock of Tucson, AZ; and his son, John (Karen) Chillock of Middleton, CT. He is also survived by two grandsons, R.C. and E.J. Marx of Tucson, AZ and two granddaughters, Laural Casler of Tempe, AZ and Amy Casler of Lockport, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in his name to the American Heart Association. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20th at 8:30 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church, with a reception to follow.

EDWARD FRANK DRASSLER died at home in Tucson on March 16, 1999. He was born at home in Bradley, Illinois on January 19, 1910. He is preceded in death by his son, David Patrick and his first wife, Patricia Cotter Drassler, whom he married on August 21, 1937. He is survived by his wife, Thelma Flynn Drassler; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Neil Brown of Phoenix; son and daughter-in-law, John and Betty Jo Drassler of Tucson. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Timothy (Erica) Brown of Phoenix, Eric (Jennifer) Brown of Flagstaff, Monica (John) Robinson of Tempe, Amy (Dave) Ulrich of Kansas City, Mark Drassler of San Francisco, Patrick Drassler of Pinetop. He also has four great-grandchildren, Weylin and Ian Brown, Samuel and Anna Ulrich. Two of his sisters are living, Alice Spreitzer of Libertyville, Illinois and Rose Hansen of Phoenix. A Tucson resident since 1945, he came to Arizona for his health. He retired as a department manager from Sears and Roebuck in 1972. Edward was a faithful member of the Perpetual Adoration at the Benedictine Convent for many years. For the past 20 years, he has been a member of the Neuman Center Worshiping Community. He was an avid supporter of the U of A football and basketball programs. As a founding member of the Tucson Kaukakee Club, he faithfully attended the annual Potluck. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 140 W. Speedway, 85705 or the Neuman Center Elevator Fund. Visitation and Rosary Friday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME. Service on Saturday, March 20th at 2:00 p.m. at Neuman Center with interment at Holy Hope cemetery to follow.

L. MAXINE FRYE, 80, died March 17, 1999. Wife of Richard H. Frye; mother of Linda Marie (Russell) Burner and Patricia Lee (Jack) Wojnowski; grandmother of six grandsons; great-grandmother of four great-grandchildren; sister of Shirley Forsen, Dixie Lou (Ben) Kidney, George Samuel (Margaret) Forsen and William R. (Jean) Forsen. Mrs. Frye was preceded in death by sons, Richard H. Frye and Jack H. Frye. She was the former owner of A Almost New Shop. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 22nd at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Chaplain Eric D. Northard officiating. Donations in Mrs. Frye's memory may be made to Hospice Family Care, 310 S.
