CARSON, James Edward, loving husband, father, and grandfather, born November 21, 1933, said goodbye to us and left to take his place beside Mom and their angels on April 11, 1999. They continue to watch over us and all the children of the world. James is survived by son, Michael Carson; daughters, Karen (Ron) Tietje, Christine (Paul and daughter, Jamie) Turner, and Jamie (Ron) Albers; granddaughters, Jennifer Leigh Sloan, Alexandria Amanda Albers, Jordan Lee Albers, and Brooke Enrica Turner; and sister-in-law and friend, Wilma Salasovitz. A private service will be held at Green Valley Mortuary. Dad's wish was that, in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Casa de los Ninos to help the children in our community.
D'ANTONIO, Thomas, 52, born May 10, 1946, in Jersey City, New Jersey, died Easter Monday, April 5, 1999 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Tucson. Son of Louis D'Antonio and the late Rachel (Amabile). He lived in Jersey City Bayonne and New York City prior to moving to Tucson two years ago. Tom served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam Conflict. In civilian life he was for many years a professional photographer. Since coming to Tucson he had four local exhibitions of his work. He is survived by his father and by his sister, Valerie. Mass of the Resurrection and interment have taken place in Jersey City. Fay Diana Irwin nee Gurvitz - Born in Indianapolis, Indiana January 13, 1908; died Tucson, AZ April 12, 1999. Survived by her devoted daughter Rita Irwin Davidson and her loving son-in-law, Rob Davidson, plus many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Fay was predeceased by her adoring husband of 56 years, Al. Fay was a very independent, loving, caring, sweet person, who loved her family above all else. The best times of her life were spent with her parents Solomon and Ethel Gurvitz, Oscar and Arthur Gurvitz, and her soulmate sister, Violet Gurvitz-Widdes. Fay completed high school in three years. At the age of sixteen she began working as a bookkeeper at New York Life in Indianapolis. She did this to help support her family. This was not a sacrifice for Fay, it was a pleasure. She worshiped her immigrant parents and respected their heroic journey for freedom from Russia to the United States. Fay was one of the first women to drive a car in Indianapolis. She came to Tucson in 1946 to be close to her parents who moved here for health reasons. Fay helped so many people with their taxes and medical bills- family and friends, but she never turned anyone away. Fay was soft-spoken, reserved and sweet, however those who really knew her, knew her wonderful, witty sense of humor. All family members came to her with their problems and secrets, because they knew that she world never criticize or judge and that their secrets would go no further. Fay Irwin will be sorely missed by all who came in contact with her. But, we know that she is again with her dearest Al and her cherished family. Jennie Ruth Kadous, a resident of Tucson for 25 years, died April 10, 1999. Born July 20, 1901 in Economy, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas K. Kadous; her parents Leonard and Susan Ann (Reed) Weitman and siblings. Having no children of her own, she was a loving aunt, 'mother', and 'grandmother' to many nieces and nephews, some who have preceded her in death and many who survive her, of several generations. Her family homesteaded in Washington when she was very young. After her marriage to Mr. Kadous, she and her husband owned an insurance business in Tulelake, California. Upon retirement, they moved to Arizona. The passions of her life were her family and friends, her roses and fishing. Her warm smile, twinkling eyes and her love of life will be missed by all who knew her. A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 1999 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6565 E. Molly Ann Ormsbee-Morales - Born February 25, 1966 in St. Joseph, Missouri and lost her long 5 year courageous battle with cancer, April 11, 1999, at home surrounded by those who loved her.
Molly's outlook on life, her wonderful sense of humor and her faith gave her the ability to meet obstacles and overcome them time and time again, was truly seen and reflected to all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her beloved son, Michael Guillen, age 14; her loving and devoted companion in life, Jesse Morales; her parents Rev. Eugene and Beverly Ormsbee; her sisters, Teresa (Max) Gill of Indianapolis and Sharon Kay Cataldo; her brother, Howard Ormsbee, of Connecticut; her aunts, Barbara Gibson, of Tucson, Betty (Steve) Boner of Indiana, Karen (Larry) Etzler and Lynette Ragar in Amazonia, MO; and a dear friend, Melissa Gee. She was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Ann 1992.

PATANIA, Carmelo P. 'Pat' 97, longtime resident of Tucson died March 24, 1999. Survived by his daughter, Mary Patania; sisters, Carmela DeLuca, Rosina Calandra and Rosalie (Joseph) Arbitablio; sister-in-law, Sadie 'Rose' Patania; nephew, Frank 'Pancho' Patania, Jr.; niece, Sylvia Claffey and Joan Wheeler; grandnephew, Sam Patania. Carmelo, a noted silversmith, along with his brother, Frank operated the 'Thunderbird Shop' in Tucson and Santa Fe, NM for many years. ELSIE MAY COX RITTMAN was born April 23, 1898 in Wallace, Missouri, the daughter of a railroad conductor and the eldest of 10 children, She attended school through seventh grade and then went to work in a shirt factory. She remained an avid reader, prolific correspondent, excellent seamstress and accomplished musician throughout her life. She married
Paul Rittman, the boy across the street, in 1919. Her daughter Phyllis Ann was the first Caesarean birth in St. Joseph, MO., where both mother and child survived. In 1942, Elsie, Paul and Phyllis Ann set out for Phoenix, AZ, their belongings packed into a'39 2-door Chevy sedan. Paul, a baker, had been transferred to the Phoenix Rainbow Bakery plant. The family moved to Tucson in 1944. Elsie played a major role in the rearing and education of her four granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren. In her younger days, she was active in the Golden Age Club at St. Cyril's Catholic Church, she did volunteer work for the American Association of Physicians and Surgeons until she was 99, and she was a Friend of the Teton County Library. She died peacefully in her sleep at home on March 4, 1999 at age 100. Elsie was preceded in death by her husband Paul, son Paul, Jr., granddaughter Sandra Orient and beloved sister Mary Philbrick. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Phyllis Ann and William Orient of Tucson; her baby sister Norma Jane Chumbley, of Mesa; granddaughters, Dr. Jane Orient, Susan (Ken) Edmiston and Ruth (Jeff) Stensrud of Tucson, and Betsy (Joe) Bernfeld of Wilson, WY; great-grandchildren Paul (Sheryl) of Wooster, OH, Jonathan (Heidi) Edmiston of Phoenix, Eve Bernfeld of New York City, Jeremy, Noah, Emily and William Snavely of Tucson; and her family at the Parker Adult Care Home. A rosary was said for Elsie March 13 at the home of Jon Edmiston, an Irish Wake was held March 14 at home of Ruth Stensrud, and a memorial Mass was celebrated on St. Patrick's Day at Our Lady of the Mountains Church in Jackson Hole, WY. Rogelio (Roy) Ronquillo Romero - Born June 11, 1927 to Alfredo and Juanita Romero (deceased). Went to be with the Lord on April 11, 1999. Roy served his country in WWII and received an Honorable Discharge in 1952. He is also preceded in death by sister Amelia Granillo and brother Rudy Romero. He is survived by brothers, Adolfo R. Serreno, Ernesto Romero, Roberto Romero and sister Beatriz R. Gastello. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. We will all miss you very much! We Love You! VOORHEES, Mary Elizabeth ('Betty'), died at home on April 9, 1999 at 92 years of age. She was born in Brunswick, MD. to Ralph Eugene long and Helen Alberta Carey Long. Pre-deceased by five brothers and three sisters, she is survived by her husband of 71 years, Harold Leroy Voorhees; daughters, Marguerite L. Weirich of Tucson, Karen Louise Bell (Daniel Jr.) of Chino, CA, Jimette K. Baker of Tucson; grandchildren, Marti L. Lorenzen (C. David) of Phoenix, AZ, Dawn Bell of Moore, SC, Daniel Bell III (Lynn) of Westminster, CA, Deborah Everly (Paul) of Roseville, MI, Carey E. Baker of Tucson; 3 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister, Beatrice Long St. Pierre of Tucson.
A resident of Tucson since 1966 prior to her illness Betty was an avid golfer and club champion for many years of both Rolling Hills CC and Dorado CC.

HERTZMAN, Dr. Charles, passed away on April 10, 1999 at 91 years of age, of cardiac complications, following a fractured hip. He leaves behind his wife of 26 years, Eugenia Hertzman, and an extended family of his wife's children and grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, who have known and loved him for many years. His wit, wisdom, kindness, and sharpness of mind never seemed to diminish with the passing of years and will be sorely missed by all.
Dr. Hertzman's distinguished career as a general physician and then, a cardiologist spanned active duty in the South Pacific during World War II and an extended service as a cardiologist at the Fort Wayne, Indiana, VA Hospital. As a physician, his scientific expertise was always balanced by a keen interest in his patients' humanity.
A funeral service and burial will be at 3:00 p.m. on April 15 at the Temple Emanuel cemetery. Condolence contributions to City College of New York, in his name, would be appreciated.
Thomas Frank Kuszelewicz, 69, lost his courageous battle with cancer on April 13, 1999. His beloved wife, Reah Barrows and daughter, Mary Ann Kuszelewicz were at his side. He was born and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, New York, but his true home was Tucson. He loved hiking, singing, polka dancing, the ocean, and the stars. His most recent endeavor was being a docent at Kitt Peak Observatory. He was a Hughes retiree. Active at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Tucson, he had countless friends. His wife, Reah, his daughter, Mary Ann, her life partner, Lisa Mavec, his stepdaughter, Adrienne Parry, sister, Susie Sacca and niece Carol Basso, survives, Tom. His family and friends will celebrate his life at the Unitarian Church of Tucson, on Saturday, April 17, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. His family asks, that in lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Carondelet Hospice of Tucson or the American Cancer Society or a charity of your own choosing. PORATH, Sandra Rose, 57, passed away Monday, April 12, 1999 at her home east of Show Low. Mrs. Porath was born in Chicago, IL. and moved with her family to Tucson when she was 7 years old. She lived in Tucson until moving to Park Show Low in 1992. She had been a summer visitor for 20 years before moving here. She was a member of the VFW Post 9907 Auxiliary in Show Low. Mrs. Porath is survived by her husband, Kenneth J. Porath of Park Show Low; sons, Joseph and Todd Bell of Tucson; and a daughter, Beth Potts of Apache Junction. She is also survived by her mother, Charlotte Prieve of Tucson and a brother, Ed Prieve of Tucson. She has 5 grandchildren.
