RAMSAY, Anna J., 79, died April 23, 1999. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

DR. JOHN JAMES 'JIM' WILD died on April 20, 1999 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Elizabeth (Lyd) Wild; six children and their spouses: Kathryn Wild (Larry Loucks), Elizabeth (Larry) Leber, Barbara Sprotte, Mary Jane (Bruce) Turner, John (Maureen) Wild, Raymond (Cathy) Wild, 24 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Dr. Wild was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Paul R. Wild of St. Paul, Minnesota and survived by his sister, Helen Fitch of Gillette, Wyoming, and brother, Dr. Mark Wild of St. Paul, Minnesota. He was active at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Eye Clinic, Salpointe Men's Club, Salpointe Booster's Club, the Association for the Blind, and Tucson Country Club. He was a 1945 graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, where he lettered for three years in hockey. For nine years, Dr. Wild practiced general medicine in Sheridan, Wyoming. He specialized in Ophthalmology at the University of Indiana in 1957 and practiced in Tucson, Arizona for 30 years. Jim Wild, a wise and gentle man, will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, doctor, teacher, fisherman and golfer. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Salpointe Catholic Education Foundation, 1545 E. Copper St., Tucson, Arizona 85719 or the Community Food Bank, P.O. Box 26727, Tucson, Arizona 85726. A Memorial Mass will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, (on Campbell across from University Medical Center), 10:00 a.m., Friday, April 30th. ARDREY, Loretta B., 70, March 23, 1929 to April 24, 1999. Beloved mother of Mary Epling, Catherine (Mike) Gossett, Cynthia (John) Mabarak, Vicki Ardrey, Gail (John) Bentley, John (Rhonda) Ardrey and Loretta M. (L.J.) Jerald. preceded in death by husband, Roy C. Ardrey, Jr. and son, Roy C. Ardrey, III. She was very proud of her 19 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Surviving brothers, Stewart (Mary) Lurtz and Eugene Lurtz, and sisters, Virginia Cruze and Louise Orator. Graveside service 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 28th at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery. ATWILL, Virginia 'Ginny' W., passed away on April 23, 1999 in Tucson at the age of 77. Ginny was a beloved and gracious lady, who will be dearly missed by all of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Roy and Helen Hambly Winn; her brother, Bill Winn, and her husband, Fenwick. Ginny is survived by her children, Mary Hurd and her husband, Robert, Martha Gawlik, and Douglass Atwill and his wife, Shannon; her grandchildren, Scott Bennett, Michael and Jennifer Gawlik, and William Atwill; her sister, Helen McEwen and her husband, George, and her brother, Jack Winn. Services will be held at St. Philip's in the Hills in Tucson, AZ at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 27, 1999. Memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society or the charity of the giver's choice.

BOKELMANN, Mary L., age 79, of Tucson, passed away April 25, 1999. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Bokelmann and is survived by her loving husband of 59 1/2 years, Howard H. Bokelmann; daughters, Beverly (Keith) Hartje, Brenda (Ronald) Ferris and Sandra (Steven) Gray; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and dear friend, Evan Roubicek. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity. Arrangements by family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Dodge Chapel.

LAWRENCE HENRY DAVIS - Born January 31, 1911, died April 24, 1999. Larry was a University of Arizona graduate in law, a Delta Chi fraternity member, and a University letterman in track. He had a distinguished career as editor and writer of law books for McGraw-Hill and Bancroft Whitney publishing companies. Predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Eleanor Winsor Davis, he is survived by his sister Janice McCurnin of Tucson, and a brother, Melvin Davis of Walnut Creek, California. He leaves three daughters in California, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Services will be private.

FELIX, Ruth Telles, of Tucson, died peacefully at home on Saturday, April 24, 1999 at the age of 90. She was born May 21, 1908 in Tombstone, AZ which was then in the Arizona Territory. She was preceded in death by husband, Jose and survived by three daughters, Mary Louise Zavala, Esther Ochoa and Bertha (Albert) Gallego. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Rebecca Barraza, Margie Craine, Edward, Richard and Barbara Ochoa, Norma Gallego, Patricia Durazo and Christine Zavala and 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Boots Rivera of Tucson; brothers, Ralph Telles of Elgin, AZ, Fred Tellis of Willcox, AZ, Richard Telles of Casa Grande, AZ, and also by many loving family and friends. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Apri 28, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. GRASSMAN, Mildred L., 67, died April25, 1999. Wife of Richard Grassman; father of Patricia Arrington, Pamela Castaldi, Eileen King and Gary Grassman; grandmother of eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; sister of Sara Van Sickle. LA COSTA, Don C., 52, of Tucson, died April 25, 1999. He is survived by his loving wife, Monique and daughter, Miji. Services will be private. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

OWENS, Sherwood Benton, 93, died in Tucson on April 25, 1999. Born in Ardmore, OK in 1905, he has been a Tucson resident since 1942. He was preceded in death by Kate Helen, his beloved wife of 61 years. He is survived by his son, Dr. Sherwood Owens, Jr. (Jody) of Tucson; daughter, Nancy Kate Holloran (Duane) of Phoenix; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Owens was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and President of the Trustees. He was also a member of the Arizona Mining Association and Skyline Country Club. He was active in the oil and mining business in Arizona and Texas. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Duane Holloran on Wednesday, April 28, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road, Tucson. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. preceding the service. Burial to follow at East Lawn Palms cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to your favorite charity in memory of their father and grandfather.

QUINTIER, Ruth H., our beloved mother went to be with our Dad on April 24, 1999. She was born in West Virginia on August 17, 1912 and has lived in Tucson since 1952. She leaves behind her son, Jack and wife, Kathy; daughter, June Bolt; and daughter, Janet Flynn and husband, Tom. Also five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters who love and miss her greatly. Mom led a full and fun filled life. She enjoyed good times and good music. She always had a ready smile and is truly missed by each of us. A graveside service will be held at South Lawn cemetery on Wednesday, April 28, 1999, Rev. James Daughtry officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the church of the Brethren, 2200 N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson, AZ 85716. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, a certified aftercare provider.

JEAN MARIE SCOTT - Died peacefully at home on April 22, 1999. preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Marie English and her brother James. Survived by children Kathryn (Geery), James (Heidi) and Margaret 'Peggy' (Richard), grandchildren Travis, Chris. Isabel and Ivan. Jean was born in Longmont, Colorado on January 2, 1924 and attended high school in Sterling, where she was a 'Fabulous Femme' in her senior year. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs and Denver University, majoring in Merchandising and Business. She enjoyed internships in several department stores, including the Daniel Fisher Store. She married and followed her husband, Dr. William Scott, who was in the United States Navy during World War II, to the Great Lakes area, where she worked as a receptionist in a dentist's office and at the American Can Company. Jean moved to Tucson in 1951 where she was active in the Women's Pima County Medical Society Auxiliary, Hospital Volunteers, PTA, Brownie Troop Leader, Grace Episcopal Church, the Assistance League and the Patio Garden Club. She continued to help her sorority, Kappa Kappa Gamma on the University of Arizona campus. In 1975 Jean moved briefly to the Los Angeles area and then to Cushing, Oklahoma, where she resumed her merchandising career in several local businesses, including New Generations, a children's clothing store; Pat's, a women's apparel store; a Hallmark store and Earl's Jewelers. Jean retired to Tucson in 1994, where she spent many of her free hours helping people to learn English, volunteering at the Tucson Botanical Gardens, and caring for her beloved Cocker Spaniel Annie. Memorial services will be held in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Literacy Volunteers, the Tucson Botanical Gardens, or Carondelet Hospice Services.

VAN ASH, Gregg Mark, 34, died April22, 1999. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

VINDIOLA, Jose A., 86, was called home by the Lord on April 24, 1999. preceded in death by mother, Carmen; and son, Joe, Jr. Survived by his wife of 61 years, Adelina Bravo; son, Angel (Irene); daughters, Socorro (Arnold) Perez, Maria Elena (Alfred) Chavez, Lupe Ortiz; and brother, Angel A. Vindiola; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Jose retired from Civil Service with the Federal Government from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base with 25 1/2 years of service. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Wednesday, April 28, at 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S Sixth Ave. He will be greatly missed.

James T. 'Jim' Volpe, Sr. was born March 22, 1947 in Powhatan Point, Ohio. A 28 year resident of Tucson and Green Valley, he lost his 'Never Give Up' battle with liver cancer (unknown primary) on April 24, 1999. He is survived by his mother, Ann Volpe; his four children, James (Jim) Jr., Jon, Alysa, and Paul; granddaughter, Kaylie and newborn grandson, Trevor James. Also surviving are his three older siblings, brother Virgil, and sisters, Dorothy Baker and Janet Vine. He has six nephews, Virgil Volpe, David Volpe, Mitch Baker, Chris Baker, Greg Baker, and Patrick Vine and three nieces, Patty Volpe, Anne Volpe, and Caitlin Vine and one great-grandniece, Stephanie. Jim, Sr. was very proud of all his children's accomplishments and those of his family. Born and raised in the coal fields of Ohio, he developed from his deceased father, Virgil, and Immigrant Grandparents a strong work and ethic and values and passed them on to his children.
He attended Ohio State University, where he played on the Baseball Team as a pitcher. He had a superb high school career in football (ALL OVAC Conference first team quarterback), basketball, and was an All-Ohio All Star pitcher in 1966. He pitched his high school team to the state championship as victors in 1963. He could have never made it without the support of his valiant team members. He was a scholastic National Honor Society Member. He completed his college education at the University of Arizona.
He retired from the United States Postal Service December 18, 1998, where his career began in 1971 as a city letter carrier in Green Valley, to Postmaster at Sahuarita, AZ in 1977 to one of his earliest goals as Postmaster of Green Valley from 1981 until 1996, when he vacated the position due to his cancer. The Postal Service was always in his heart, and they accommodated his medical condition by detailing him to the Main Office in Tucson as a Customer Relations Coordinator. While there, he worked primarily as an associate tothe Postal Operations Manager for the Phoenix District overseeing 93 post offices throughout Arizona.
He also retired from the Arizona Air National Guard in Tucson in 1995 where he proudly served as First Sergeant of the Logistics Squadron. He spent four years active duty in the United States Air Force, attached to Kincheloe AFB, MI, where he was separated honorably in 1970. He was decorated with numerous medals of achievement in both organizations. One of his proudest was being named the Citizen/Airman of the year for Tucson, AZ by the Chamber of Commerce.
He belonged to numerous organizations including the Rotary Club of Green Valley (President Elect), the Masonic Lodge #71 of Green Valley, American Legion Post #66 of Green Valley, Toastmasters Club of Green Valley, and the Elks Club of Green Valley.
He also belonged to the National Association of Postmasters of the United States (Western Region Representative, Area Vice President, State Chapter President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Editor of State Newsletter.) He was also a member of the National League of Postmasters, wherehe served as a State Vice-President. He organized and coordinated several State Conventions in Southern Arizona.
He was a member of the Valley Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder, and currently as a member of the Casas Adobes Baptist Church.
He wished to say good-bye to all his close postal and ANG friends, his golfing buddies (Tucson Postal League and others) and schoolmates in Ohio and to all his paternal and maternal families and the extended families of his children.
Memorial Services will be held at the Valley Presbyterian Church in Green Valley by his close friend and Minister, Joe Hawkins on Saturday, May 1st at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be on Thursday, April 29th at Powhatan Point, OH.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be donated in his name to The Arizona Cancer Center/UAF, P.O. Box 245013, Tucson, AZ 85724, or to Saint John Vianney Catholic Church, Hwy 7, Powhatan Point, OH 43942. Arrangements by BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.

BEIRIGER, Janet Lou, age 67, passed away peacefully in Mesa, AZ on Sunday, April 25, 1999. Mrs. Beiriger was born in Grand Rapids, Mich. on April 15, 1932. She was raised in Mich. where she met her husband, David Alan Beiriger and they were married in December 1954. Janet was a wonderful wife and mother to her three children, enjoyed painting watercolors, fishing, collecting and restoring antiques, playing bridge and was active volunteering for the American Cancer Society, various hospitals and the Salvation Army. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, and is survived by her children, James David Beiriger, Lucinda Ann Austin, and Susan Elizabeth Beiriger; son-in-law, Donald Gene Austin; three grandchildren, Brenden James Beiriger, Jacob Alan Austin, Paul Michael Austin; two sisters, Carol Matz; and Sue Blandford. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 29, 1999, 5:00 p.m. at Church of the Master, 6659 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, 2929 E. Thomas Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85016 or to the Church of the Master, 6659 E. University Dr., Mesa, AZ 85205. Mesa Funeral Care at Mariposa Gardens serving the family.

Robert Allyn Chamberlin, 67, of Tucson, died April 25, 1999. Survived by wife of forty years, Marie; son, Gordon (Margaret) of Alaska; grandson, Connor; brothers, Larry and Richard, both of VT. Mr. Chamberlin was retired from the U.S. Air Force and also from the V.A. Hospital in Tucson. Visitation will be held from 5:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 21 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Graveside services, 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes.

FOLEY, Lillian M., passed away peacefully at home on April 24th 1999. At her side were her husband, two children, six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and friends. She was born July 20th 1922 in Mt. Jewett, Pennsylvania. She will always be remembered in our hearts. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 30th at South Lawn cemetery Mausoleum, 5401 S. Park Ave. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, a certified aftercare provider.

DUTTLE, Raymond Eldon, 69, of Tucson, died April 25, 1999. Ray is survived by wife of 50 years, Irma; children, Ray 'Michael' (Linda) Duttle of Ohio, Ronald (Maria) Duttle of Tucson, Kathleen (Manuel) Rodriguez of Tucson, Richard (Dina) Duttle of Tucson; brother, Jay Duttle of Tucson; sisters, Arlene Erickson of California, Imelda Bennett of Tucson, 13 grandchildren, one great-grandchild. Visitation will be 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, with Funeral Service 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 30 all at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. (1 1/2 Blk N. Grant).
