Frank McMinn Chambers, 88, died peacefully in his sleep at home on May 7, 1999. Survived by his wife of 53 years, Alice Ann Chambers; daughters, Ann Chambers (London, Canada) and Lydia Brawner (Auburn, Alabama); and son, John Chambers (Smith River, Calif.); sons-in-law, Philip Shirley and Tom Brawner; and grandchildren, Lydia Mary and Caroline Brawner, and Ben Chambers Shirley. He was born in Noonday, Texas on August 2, 1910. He received his B.A. (1930, Phi Beta Kappa) and Ph.D. (1935) from Harvard. After graduation he taught Romance Languages at Colorado College and Northwestern University. During WWII he worked as a civilian decoder in Washington, D.C. From 1950-67 he was Associate Editor for modern languages at DC Heath & Co., Boston. In 1967 he became Professor of French at the University of Arizona, retiring in 1978. His scholarly research interest was Medieval French and Old Provencal literature, especially poetry. He was the author of numerous books and articles and was a member of the Medieval Academy of America. After retirement he was President of the U. of A. Retirees Association. He was a member of the Alliance Francaise and the Bonsai Society. He was a board member and tutor for Literacy Volunteers, a driver for Mobile Meals and a Job Corps tutor. He was a kind and gentle man who was loved by all who knew him. A memorial service is planned for July. Memorial contributions can be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 5132 E. Pima, Tucson, AZ 85712.

CLINTON, James Kenneth, 75, died May 7, 1999. Survived by his wife, Marjorie Clinton; children, James R. and Frederick Clinton, Maggie (Dr. John) Dement and John (Cathy) Mitchell; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; brother, Leo (Fern) Clinton. James was a former employee of O'Rielly Chevrolet parts department for many years. Private family services were held. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd.

Lola Moree Conn, age 83, born March 30, 1916, has taken the stairway to Heaven to have everlasting life with our Lord in Heaven. Mrs. Conn passed away May 8, 1999. She is survived by three sons, William A. Hunter, Paul K. Conn, and Jerry M. Conn all of Tucson; four daughters, Jackie M. Conn of Ohio, Ellen Kanitz of Ohio, Patricia Fish and Evelyn Spragg both of California; 14 grandchildren and numerous other great-grandchildren and many friends. Mrs. Conn was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth J. Conn, and two sons, Jack Darin Hunter and Delbert Leo Conn. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13, 1999. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 1999 at St. Ambrose Church, 300 S. Tucson. Burial will follow at Holy Hope cemetery. The family has requested that those who desire may make contributions to TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., in Mrs. Conn's memory.

HUTT, William, 59, of Tucson, AZ, passed away May 10, 1999. Bill was a resident of Tucson for the past nine years, and had many friends here. He is survived by two daughters, Holly and Theresa; five grandchildren; mother, Geraldine; uncle, John (June) O'Reilly; brother, Tom; nephew, Michael. Funeral services will be held in Napa, California. Donations may be made in Bill's memory to Tucson Heart Hospital, 4888 N. Stone Ave., Tucson, 85704. SANCHEZ, Raymundo N., 79, of Tucson, died May 8, 1999. He was a loving and kind husband and father to his family and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Maria Consuelo; daughter, Maria Consuelo Luna; son, Jorge Sanchez; sister, Catalina Tellez; brother, Eduardo Sanchez; sisters-in-law, Artemisa Pereyda, Esperanza Pereyda; brothers-in-law, Alfonso Pereyda and Jose Jesus Pereyda; grandchildren, Victor and Ray Luna, Yolanda and Maria Luna; great-grandchildren, Jose and Crystal Samiengo and Sergio M. Alvarez. Friends may call on Tuesday, May 11, 1999 beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the family home, 2801 S. Coconino Vista. Mass will be said at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at Our Lady Queen of All Saints, 2519 East 36th Street. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery. SEABOURN, Agnes Laverse, 86, died May 2, 1999 in Marysville, California. Mother of Kenneth (Carla) Seabourn of Tucson, Garland Seabourn of California, Ted (Grace) Seabourn of Texas, Barbara Hillman of Phoenix, AZ and Millie (Paul) Watters of California; grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral service 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 14, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, with Pastor John Witkop officiating. Burial in TMP East Lawn. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to service time Friday at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

ALDRIDGE, Jaime E. (Jim), born June 2, 1915 in Valparaiso, Chile passed away May 8, 1999 in Tucson. The son of Fred and Enriqueta Aldridge. Jim was a graduate of the San Diego, CA, Army & Navy Academy and Georgia Tech. He served in the British Army in North Africa during World War II, returning to Chile after being severely wounded. A Chemical Engineer, he worked in the mining industry in Chile until 1972 when he came to Arizona and took a position with Phelps Dodge in Ajo, retiring in 1982, at which time he moved to Tucson. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; son, James F. of Alpine, CA; daughter, Lilia; two grandchildren, Tim Thompson and Tammy (Sam) Thompson-Garcia and great-grandson, Adam Thompson-Garcia, all of Tucson. Also surviving are two sisters, Mabel Hardy and Helen (David) Kinnear, both of Santiago, Chile; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Jim was predeceased by his parents, his first wife, Violeta, mother of his children; brother, Dick and sister, Mary. Jim was a member of St. John on the Desert Presbyterian Church, the Southern Arizona Scottish Society and the AIME. A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 15, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John on the Desert Church, 2695 N. Houghton Rd., Tucson. In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances in Jim's name to the Building Fund of St. John on the Desert Presbyterian Church, 2695 N. Houghton Rd., Tucson, AZ 85749.

CHAPIN, John Randall, 31, passed away after a brief illness on May 7, 1999 in Kirkland, Washington. He is survived by his father, Thomas C. Chapin of Tucson; his mother, Patricia J. Sain of the home and his brother, William P. Chapin of Bothell, Washington. He is also survived by his grandmothers, Kathryn Chapin of San Angelo, Texas and Pat Bowman of Hoquiam, Washington. Memorial services will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church, Kirkland under the direction of Green Funeral Home on Thursday, May 13 at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that memorials be made to St. John's Episcopal Church, 105 State Street, Kirkland, Washington 98033 or to the charity of your choice.

COURSEY, Elmer, born November 11th, 1911 in Paduca, TX, went to God May 9th, 1999. Survived by wife of 65 years, Juanita; daughter, Martha (David) Krzyzanowski; sisters, Louise Richardson and Eva Mae Huckabe of Grapevine, TX; grandchildren, Michelle, David and Michael; and great-granddaughter, Emili of Tucson. The family wishes to thank the caregivers Eva, Stephanie and Nancy for their wonderful care and love. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., May 14th at EAST LAWN PALMS CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Road. DAWSON, Richard Arlyn, 64, of Tucson, AZ, passed away May 9, 1999. Survived by wife, Melodee Rose Dawson; sons, Michael and Scott (Hiroko) Dawson; daughters, Julee (John) Dawson, Susan (Richard) Nichols; grandchildren, Michelle, Sarah, Natalie Dawson, James, Kyle Nichols; mother, Bernadine Dawson; father-in-law, Julius Hankinson; brothers, Thomas (Sue) and Jack (Pamela) Dawson. Memorial service will be held at Capilla Del Sol Christian Church on Friday, May 14th, 7:00 p.m., 3130 W. Overton Rd. in Tucson, AZ with Rev. Jack Dawson officiating.

GIBSON, Grace, a long time resident of Tucson died May 6, 1999. Mrs. Gibson was born August 14, 1908 in Stafford County, Kansas. She is survived by daughters, Margaret Ann Baldwin and Patricia Sue (Ronald) Decker; grandchildren, Meta Jon (Michael) Everett, Shawna Ann (Stephen) Bohn, Buffon (Heather) Decker and Brandon (Leslie) Decker; sister-in-law, Martha Ann (Richard) Van Gundy. Family services will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999 at 11:30 a.m. at East Lawn Palms cemetery, 5801 E. Grant. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., Tucson, AZ 85712. Arrangements by Heather Mortuary, an aftercare provider.

HENDRICKSON, Leslie Irving, 91, a resident of Tucson for 58 years, died of heart failure May 9th, 1999. Mr. Hendrickson is a native of Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. After working in the University of Wisconsin Athletic Department, he came with his family to Tucson in 1941. He joined the University of Arizona Athletic Department, and subsequently worked at Davis-Monthan for the duration of World War II. He was an accountant with Eagle Pitcher Mining Company in the late 1940's. He joined Hughes Aircraft Company in data processing where he retired after 20 years. After retirement, he worked as a volunteer with the St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years, during which he served some time as treasurer. Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary T. Hendrickson; three sons, David J. of Huntington Beach, CA, COL James A. of Arlington, VA, and Robert N. of Monterey, CA; two grandchildren, Leslie Lockwood and David M.; and two great-grandchildren. A service will take place in Mr. Hendrickson's memory at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 13 at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway). Memorial donations may be made in his memory to St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary.

HUGHES, Sylvia J., 87, died May 10, 1999. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

ICANGELO, Frank, 80, died May 8, 1999. Beloved father and friend of three daughters, Iris, JoAnn and Pamela; two grandchildren, Andrew and Darin and son-in-law, David. He will be buried alongside his wife, Sylvia Icangelo, in Evergreen cemetery, May 12, 10:00 a.m.

LEAHY, Placida Mae, 87, born on October 5, 1911 in Cleveland, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on May 8, 1999. She was preceded in death by her husband, John. She is survived by sons, Larry of Florida, Kenny of California, Wade of Indonesia, Andy, Fred, both of Tucson; daughters, Helen of Washington, Denise of Tucson; 14 grandchildren and Guardian Angel over her 12 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 12, 1999 at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima St., with recitation of the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 1999 at St. Cyril's. Interment will follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

MARIEN, Bonnie E., 84, of Tucson, passed away May 7, 1999. Survived by husband, Arthur George Marien of 64 years (March 30); sons, Phillip (Mary Anne) Marien of MI and Paul (Lynn) Marien of Tucson; daughters, Gail Hancock of Seligman and Karen (Ted) Bowes of Glendale; brothers, Richard Stull of FL, Carl Stull of MI and Arthur Stull of CA; sister, Gwen Lewis of Montana; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren. Memorial Service Sunday, May 16, 1999, 3:00 p.m. at Park West Mobil Home Clubhouse with Rev. Phil Cruise of Catalina Foothills Church officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Carondelet Hospice. Arrangements by EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery.

MOSER, George LeBeau, was born in Oatman, Arizona on January 15, 1912, and was the second child of George F. Moser and Cordie LeBeau Moser. He died in Tucson on May 8, 1999. George grew up in Oatman where he met and married Sibyl, his wife of 52 years. They moved to Silverbell where he worked for ASARCO for 22 years. After retiring in 1976, he made his home in Safford, Arizona, until his death. He was a member of the Methodist faith.George was preceded in death by his wife, Sibyl in 1992, his sisters, Annie and Ruth, and his grandson, Jimmy Moser. He is survived by a son, Jim (Judy) Moser of Safford; daughters, Joyce (Marty) Allred of Safford, Julie Moser and Ed Hope of Flagstaff; a brother, James Moser of California; a sister, Lois Prentice of Kingman; six grandchildren, Beau Allred, Minday Lainhart, Jerry Moser, Janice Moser, Lori Edwards and Jami Hollins and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Carondelet Hospice Services, 1802 W. St. Mary's Road, Tucson, AZ 85745. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. in David's Safford Funeral Home Chapel.

OLIVAS, Jessie, 68, of Tucson, passed away May 11, 1999. Survived by husband, Joe G. Olivas; daughters, Rebecca (Joel) Spillane and Charlotte (Paul) Olivas; sons, Jose (Joyce), Peter (Brenda), and Mike (Connie) Olivas; sister, Mary Helen Campoy; brothers, John, Bob, Frank, Tony, Albert Esparza. LYDIA HADDOX PENA, 69, passed away Sunday, May 9, 1999. Beloved wife of Robert Haddox; dear mother of Yolanda P. (Randy) Schoeing, Danny (Diana) Ruelas, Sandy (Armando) Chacon Chavez. Survived by 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, five sisters, four brothers, several nieces, nephews and many friends. Rosary will be held Thursday, May 13, 1999 at 8:00 p.m. at the Chavez residence, 741-7769. Mass will be held Friday, May 14, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Monica Catholic Church. JOSEPH L. PIERCE, 74, died May 8, 1999. Senior Master Sgt., USAF, Ret. 'Sarge' was born in Bulger, PA, June 10, 1924. Predeceased by wife 'Penny' in 1972. Survived by daughter Kitty, and sons Joe (Pam) and John. Grandkids Shane (Kari), Stacey, Kristie and Carrie, and great-grandkid Cory. Sarge took a bite out of life and let the juices run down his neck. Loved by all, he slid peacefully safe at home, and he will be greatly missed. An Irish wake will be held in his honor Saturday May 15, starting at high noon at his residence.

TADEO, Jose Jesus, 63, of Tucson, passed away May 10, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carmen Tadeo; children, Concepcion, Veronica, Carmen, Jose Leonardo, and Jose Bernardo; grandchildren, Rachel, Christine, Giovanna, Solana, Brianna, Bernardo, and Lorenzo. Also survived by three brothers, six sisters and countless extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, May 14, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at San Xavier Mission. Jose died peacefully in the loving care of his family. His strength and courage in facing life as well as death will be remembered and his incredible sense of humor will be missed. WITZ, Michael, born in Tucson March 23, 1981. Shot and killed May 9, 1999 at the age of 18. Survived by mother, Lori Witz; brother, Wesley Witz; grandparents, Arlis Witz and Ron (Jane) Witz; uncles, Scott, Craig (Cheryl) and Steve; cousins, Ryan and Kevin Witz. A memorial service will be held this weekend. Donations can be made to Survivors of Murdered Children or Reid Park Zoo Tiger Habitat in memory of Michael Witz.

WYBAN, Ray, 80, passed away May 6, 1999 in Georgia, surrounded by his loving family. Ray was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maggie; they were married for 50 years. He is survived by sons, Ray II (Jane), Jim (Carol), Scott; and grandson, Tai. Known as 'Unc the Punk' and 'Mr. Ray' to numerous nephews, nieces, neighbors, and friends, Ray graduated from East High School and Dyke College in Cleveland, Ohio in 1948. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. in Okinawa during WWII. He was retired from Sleight and Hellmuth and Morison Printing Ink companies. Ray was a remarkable man who was loved by all who knew him. He was a friend to all children and a purveyor of corny jokes known as unkisms to friends and family. He touched the lives of so many here in Tucson, and he will be sorely missed. He had a heart of gold. A memorial service will be held in Orange Village, Ohio on July 31, 1999. In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree or send donations to Leukemia research.

YBARRA, Antonio, 65, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away May 07, 1999. Survived by sister, Evelyn San Bravo; brother, Raymond Ybarra. Also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 13, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, (North Chapel), 204 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Friday, May 14, 1999, 9:00 a.m. at Santa Cruz Church, 1220 S. 6th Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
