PELLHAM, Ethel E., 75, of Tucson, died May 16, 1999. Survived by daughters, Judy Allen, Linda Liles, both of Tucson, Ester Vogt of Escondido, CA, Viola Price of Clinton, TN; sons, Floyd R. Pellham of Escondido, CA, Roy L. Pellham of Seymor, TN; sisters, Ella Criswell of Arkansas, Myrtle Wratten of Pineville, OR, Ruth Dunham of Benicia, CA; brother, Arvel McCawley of Sisters, OR; 25 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren. Graveside Service Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Evergreen cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Monte Vista Christian Union Church, 1140 E. Roger Rd., Tucson, AZ 85719 in memory of Ethel E. TURNER, William Robert, longtime Arizona resident and retired engineer William Robert (Bill) Turner, age 87, passed away peacefully in his sleep at 2:00 a.m. May 14, 1999. He is survived by his sisters, Linda Enrico and Isabel Haight of Sierra Vista; and his children Robert H., Michael W., Linda A., and Timothy A. Turner; as well as his first wife, Edith H. Turner of Pensacola, FL; . He had five grandchildren. He was preceded on his final journey by his parents, Earl and Ella Turner; his brother, Joseph Earl Turner, and wives, Helen Huebner Turner and Rachel Payne Turner. Mr. Turner studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arizona, was an officer in the Naval Aviation Corps, a flight instructor on the Island of Java (Indonesia), and Chief Test Pilot for the Glen L. Martin Company of Baltimore, MD during World War II. In the early days of United States Missile Test and Development programs he fired the first missile from Cape Canaveral, Florida. He returned to Tucson in the early seventies to join with his second wife, Helen, in making Tucson' finest wedding cakes. He became a mainstay at the Tucson Parks and Recreation Department Silver-smithing Program. He taught Lost Wax Casting. Mr. Turner never lost his desire for learning and innovation. His last work was writing a paper concerning the hydraulic action of molten metal in lost wax casting. Memorial donations may be sent to Treasurer, Arizona Designer Craftsman, 2961 S. Cholla, Chandler, AZ 85248-3021 or University of Arizona Cancer Research Center. Memorial service 1:30 p.m., Thursday, May 20th at Unitarian Universalist Church, 4831 E. 22nd St. Arrangements by Bring's Memorial Chapel, 236 S. Scott.

VILLALOBOS, Frank G. 'Conejo', 75, of Tucson, passed away May 14, 1999. Survived by wife, Marian Villalobos; daughters, Lydia Dee Dee and Marian Franci Villalobos; son, Larry (Essie) Villalobos; sister, Teresa Cruz; brothers, Arnulfo and Santiago Villalobos. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Lysa Davis, John, Larry Villalobos, Joseph Pinedo, Christopher, Heather, Francisco, Adam Villalobos; and two great-grandchildren, Devin Davis and Francisco Villalobos. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, South Chapel, 240 S. Stone Ave., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. WALCZAK, Elaine Grace, 74, died May 17, 1999. Mother of Judith (Daniel) Walkowicz; grandmother of Nicole and Penny Hinze; great-grandmother of Gary Butler. Also survived by dear and close friend, Lorraine Sabo. Services will be held in Illinois. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

Phillip Bear Face, 52, of Tucson, died May 17, 1999. Phil is survived by wife, Darlene Bear Face of Tucson; sons, Michael Todd and Phillip Christopher Bear Face, both of South Dakota; sisters, Jeanne (Denny) Jefferies of Kentucky, Reta Bear Face of Glendale, Arizona, sister-in-law, Sarah Shannon of Tucson, brother-in-law, Daniel Groves of Tucson, parents-in-law, Richard and Susan Shannon; and many nieces and nephews and great nephews.
Phil is predeceased by his parents William and Mabel Bear Face at a young age and his brother E. Robert Bear Face two weeks ago.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 20 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at VALLEY FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Diabetes Foundation or Kidney Transplant Services at University Medical Center Development Office.

GOODSELL, Violette E., 84, of Tucson, died Tuesday, May 18, 1999. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Christine. She is survived by her children, Richard (Darnelle) Goodsell, Laurel Davis; grandchildren, Deborah, Rodney, Brian, Gordon, Gregory, Sharon, Aimee, Andy; and 16 great-grandchildren. Graveside services and burial will be at a later date at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, Illinois. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY, an aftercare provider.

HELLOW, John, 85, of Tucson, passed away May 17, 1999. Survivors include his children, Rosemary Stephenson, Cynthia (Ted) Suba, John A. Hellow; seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Paul Hellow and two sisters, Elizabeth Raies and Alberta Milan. Friends may call at ARIZONA MORTUARY, an aftercare provider, 7 E. HUTCHINSON, Margaret 'Peggy' 80, of Tucson, died May 17, 1999. Peggy was born March 15, 1919 in Watertown, MA; the daughter of Joseph Crosby and Mildred Fader. She is survived by son, Donald J. Carmody of Ashland, MA; daughter, Nancy E. Marshall of Epping, NH; sister, Evangeline Bittle of Marlboro, MA; 16 grandchildren and many great and great-great-grandchildren. MUELLER, William Wayne (Bill), died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, near Sequim, WA. The son of George and Dorothy Mueller, he was born April 16, 1944, in Waterville, KS, and was reared on a dairy farm in nearby Hanover. He graduated with a degree in architecture from Kansas State University in 1967. A 15-year resident of Tucson, he was a nationally accredited architect with registrations in Kansas, Minnesota, Arizona and Wisconsin. At the time of his death he and his wife, Tucson landscape architect Joanne Gallaher, worked together at their firm, Sonoran Studios. He was instrumental in renovating and preserving many of the historic structures in the downtown Tucson area, including the Temple of Music and Art, and he also played an integral role in the development of the Tucson Arts District. Among the other Tucson renovation projects in which he served as architect or project manager were the C. O. Brown House, the home of El Centro Cultural de Las Americas; the former Cursillo Building, now the Tucson Center for the Performing Arts; the City Court Building; the Julian Drew Building; the Rockwell House; the courtyard and cantina at the Stillwell-Twiggs House; the Toole Shed Studios, the Old Town Grille and the Shane House Artist Apartments. He also renovated portions of the historic Babbitt Building in Flagstaff. A gifted craftsman himself, he designed and built a home in the Barrio Historico (which was featured in the neighborhood's 1993 home tour) and an office building in the historic West University neighborhood. The latter received an award from the American Planning Association. His work on the Temple of Music and Art received an award of distinction from the International Downtown Association. His 33-year career included numerous other public and private projects in Arizona and throughout the Midwest and West. His most recent work as a project manager of RN Ranch, a private development south of Tucson, and as project manager of Lost Mountain Management Co. near Sequim. Besides his wife, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Jon and Pat Mueller of Tucson; daughter and son-in-law Jennifer and Randy Snider of Everson, WA; daughter-in-law Rhoda Mueller of Tucson; four granddaughters, Marisa, Brigitte and Hannah Mueller, and Lauren Snider; two grandsons, David Mueller and J Snider; sisters and brothers-in-law Deanna Stewart and Keith Balthazor of Washington, KS, Sharon and Leo Schwartz of Washington, KS and Marilyn and Roland Vorrath of McMinnville, OR; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Lindy and Beth Gallaher and mother-in-law Marion Gallaher, all of Manhattan, KS; as well as aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and many other relatives and friends. His son Alex Mueller preceded him in death. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Friday at the Temple of Music and Art, 330 S. Scott. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the William Mueller Memorial Fund, Account No. 23009278, c/o National Bank of Arizona, 136 N. Stone Ave., Tucson, AZ 85701. The fund will be used for his six grandchildren's education.

The fund will be used for his six grandchildren's education.

PACE, Allen Cecil, USAF Staff Sergeant, Retired, born in Sewanee, TN on March 1, 1922, passed away on May 17, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha in 1989. He is survived by seven daughters, Roberta (John), Cecilia (Gene), Norma, Yolanda (George), Marlene (Albert), Mary Irene (Ken), and Geneva (Grant); 12 grandchildren, Mary, Cindy, Mark, Martin, Michael, Sheri, Michelle, Bruce, Brian, Tracey, Elizabeth and Stephen; 11 great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Patrick, Vanessa, Troy, Megan, Timothy, Nicole, Danielle, Brock, Brittany and Jordan; and one great-great-grandchild, Jonathan, Jr. He served in WWII where he was wounded and awarded the Purple Heart and many other service honors. He was loved and will be missed by his family and many friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 20, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. There will be a closed casket visitation on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in East Lawn Palms Mortuary. Committal will take place in East Lawn Palms cemetery with full military honors. East Lawn Palms is an aftercare provider.

PETTINGER, John Marvin, was born April 26, 1929 to John J. and Bernah Dena Pettinger on the family farm near Cumberland, Iowa where he grew to manhood. He succumbed to pancreatic cancer in Tucson, Arizona on May 11, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Georgina (Wolford) Pettinger; their four children, Daryl W. Pettinger, Sandra K. Pettinger-Lostroh, Craig A. Pettinger, and Debra C. Pettinger-Thomes; four beloved grandsons, Jeremiah Pettinger, Joshua, Chris and Bob Lostroh and two sisters, Norma Teeters and Evelyn Ihnen. John was preceded in death by his parents and oldest sister, Mary K. Neilsen. A beautiful memorial service was held at the Midvale Park Seventh Day Adventist Church of Tucson on May 15, 1999. John's ashes will be returned to the Colorado Mountains that he loved. Betty will continue to live at the family home. John will be greatly missed by his family and many relatives and friends across the country.

RAINALDI, David Michael, 46, died May 16, 1999. Brother of John Rainaldi of Tucson and Rick Rainaldi of Wisconsin; father of B.J. of Minnesota. Many friends and acquaintances, from his work at Circle K also survive. No services are planned. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

RETZ, Sr., Henry W. 'Bill' 68, of Tucson, died May 16, 1999. Survived by wife, Eve P. Retz of Tucson; sons, John Retz, Robert Retz and Joe Retz all of Tucson; daughters, Polly Retz of Austin, TX and Judy Miller of Huntsville, AL; brother, Tom Retz of Hudson, NY; his beloved Pet, Buzzy and nine grandchildren. Mr. Retz served with the 2nd Armored Division during WWII. Friends may call Thursday, 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Services and interment will be in Hudson, NY. Eugene E. Riester, 83, of Tucson, died at the VA Nursing Home on Saturday, May 15, 1999. Mr. Riester came to Tucson from his home state of New York in 1958. He served his country in the Army during W.W.II, and was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a 25 year employee of Texaco, retiring as manager of the station at Columbus and 22nd Sts. The last several years he kept busy working on his own as a gardener. Eugene is survived by his wife of 36 years, Agnetta; son, Jhymes Palmer; grandchildren, Ian, Shannon, and Logan; sister, Mildred; brother, Alfred; nieces, Jane, Linda, and Nan; and godson, Larry, Jr. Memorial services will take place at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, (Dodge Chapel), 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. (at Speedway) on Friday, May 21 at 2:00 p.m.

WEST, James William, born October 6, 1921 in Clinton, Indiana, died May 17, 1999. Husband of Dorothy West; father of Judy (Jim) Murray of Tucson; grandfather of Andrew Murray of Tucson, Jason West and Darcy Bennett of Amanda, Ohio. preceded in death by his son, James West, Jr. James retired from F.R. Lazarus Co., and served in the Air Force in World War II. Memorial Service at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 21, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway with Rev. Glen Foster officiating. Donations may be made in Mr. West's memory to Kidney Foundation, 4019 N. 44th St., Phoenix, AZ 85018.

BEJARANO, Mary A., 73, died May 18, 1999. Beloved mother of Norma (Mario) Cruz of Banamichi, Mexico, Florentino Jr., Mary, Jane, Vargas, Eduardo, Mike (Rosa) and William, all of Tucson; stepchildren, Ambrosio (Grace), Herminia (Joe) Tellez and Rodolfo (Esperanza), all of Tucson. She had 17 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Survived by sister, Bertha Rossen of Los Angeles, CA and brother, Ralph (Terri) Juvera of Catalina, AZ. preceded in death by husband, Florentino. Rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 21 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL. Graveside Service 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 22st at Holy Hope cemetery. BYROAD, Leonard L., born in Lebanon, Indiana on November 08, 1927 ended his earthly struggle with long term illness on May 18, 1999. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mildred; sons, Chris, Bret (Mindy) and Jay (Cathy) and grandchildren Jason, Aaron, Ashley and Alyssa, all residing in Tucson. He owned and managed an automobile service station(s) in Lebanon, until moving to Tucson in 1973. He worked until becoming disabled in 1976. A private service is planned. Betty I. Elsey, 75, of Tucson, died May 19, 1999. Mother of Brenda E. (Richard) Tavenner, Darla D. (Nolan) White, Michael D. (Alice) Elsey; grandmother of Deane and Jeff White, Michelle and Melissa Elsey, Breonna and Caitlin Tavenner; five great-grandchildren. preceded in death by husband, Harold D. Elsey and son, Brian E. Elsey. Funeral Services will be held at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, Friday, May 21, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. Interment Evergreen cemetery. JACKSON, Thelma Lee, 82, came to the end of this life's journey May 18, 1999. She leaves behind her courage and sense of humor for her daughter, Patricia Lee Jackson of San Francisco, CA, her sister, Ann Holmes of Louisville, KY, and her friends. Her husband of 45 years, Marvin K. Jackson, preceded her in his death May 24, 1984. Her later-life partner, Ralph Thomas also preceded her in his death February 12, 1994. A Memorial will take place to celebrate her life at a later date. Any donations can be made to the Prima Vera Shelter, 200 E. Benson Hwy., a cause close to her heart.

JACOBS, Cheryl Rae, 51, died May 15, 1999. Mother of Scott Jacobs and Sean Jacobs; daughter of Nathan Eichhorn and Harriet Wardanian. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 1999 at BRING'S MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 236 S. Scott.
