Mary Reveles

Mary Reveles of Yuma died Nov. 19, 2003, in Yuma at 76.

She was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Yuma and was a homemaker.

Rosary will be 7 p.m. Monday at Yuma Mortuary. A Mass will take place at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Desert Lawn.

Yuma Mortuary & Crematory is handling arrangements.

Melva Foutz Hansen

Melva Foutz Hansen, 83, of Mesa passed away on November 19th, 2003. She was the daughter of Joseph Lehi Foutz III and Lois Humphrey Foutz. Melva was born on December 4th, 1919 in Pima, Arizona and was a 3rd generation Arizonian. She was one of 12 children and is survived by her husband of 62 years, Bernard; 3 sons, Greg of Casper, Wyoming, Alan of Tempe, Gary of Seattle, Washington, and her daughter Kathy McVaugh of Mesa, 10 grandkids, 6 great-grandkids, her brother Max Foutz of Ukiah, California, and her sister Leona Taylor of Pima, AZ. Her daughter Janet Konopnicki preceded her in death.

Melva owned Melva’s Beauty Salon in Chandler and Yuma for 46 years, and was one of the Presidents of the Arizona Cosmetology Association. Melva was such an intelligent, fun and energetic woman with a great business sense. She was dedicated to her husband, family and to her religion.

Melva’s viewing will be held at Bunker’s Funeral Home, 33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, on Friday November 21 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. The Funeral will be held Saturday, November 22nd at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 24th St. building (1911 N. 24th Street just south of McKellips Rd. ) Mesa, at 1:00p.m. Grave side services will be held at the Pima, AZ Cemetery on Monday at 11:00a.m.

Melva, we love you so much and want to thank you for all that you have done for us.

Rita M. Jahnke

Rita M. Jahnke (Rita Kinshella), 80, died of complications of Alzheimer’s on Monday, November 17, 2003, at Cherrelyn Healthcare Center in Littleton, Colorado.

Rita was born August 11, 1923 in Ponteix, Saskatchewan, Canada in 1923 to Louis and Rosa DeMontigny. She married Leo Kinshella on January 31, 1946. Rita and Leo raised their family in Whitewater where she operated the general store and served as the community’s Postmaster for many years. She moved to Wolf Creek, Montana in 1972 and served as Postmaster until her retirement in 1985.

Rita was an active member of the Catholic parishes in Whitewater and Wolf Creek. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending winters in Yuma and summers on the Missouri River.

She was preceded in death by her husbands Leo Kinshella in 1979 and Dick Jahnke in 2001.

Rita is survived by her sons Paul, of Phoenix; Rick, of Denver, Colorado; Dan, of Houston, Texas; and Dale, of Ashburn, Virginia; her sister, Theresa Wanlin, of Kelowna, B.C.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services are November 21, 2003 at St. Elizabeth Seton Church in Sun City, AZ at 11:00a.m. A Funeral service in Montana is pending.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady Of Lourdes Catholic Church in Great Falls on December 6 at 1:30p.m. with a reception to follow.

Memorials may be made in Rita Jahnke’s name to the Alzheimer’s Research Center, 640 Jackson Street, Saint Paul, Minnesota 55101.

Maria “Mary” Valdez Raveles

Maria “Mary” Valdez Raveles, 76, passed away at La Mesa Care Center on November 19, 2003 after her battle with cancer. She was born November 26, 1926 in Yuma, AZ. She lived all her life in Yuma and attended Yuma Schools.

She worked many jobs throughout her life in Yuma. Mary always had a special way of touching many people’s hearts who crossed her path throughout her life. She was a cursillista of Immaculate Conception Church. She loved going to eat out at many local restaurants and enjoyed playing bingo and going to the casinos. Doing for everyone was her best. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Michael Valdez; daughters, Blanche Moreno, Rosemary Wolford, Kathryn (Richard) Zerba, Michelle Raveles; sister, Rebecca Valdez; grandchildren David, Rosa, Andrea, Julio, Gene Jr., Michael, Tonia, Sandra, Duro, Danielle, Rachael and Roselia. She had twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandson; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ignacio Valdez and Maria Hernandez-Valdez and her sisters Ramona Valencia and Rose Gonzales.

A wake will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, with rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Yuma Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Parish. Burial will take place at the Yuma Cemetery.

Pallbearers include David Raveles Sr., David Raveles Jr., Duro Johnson, Eugene Wolford Jr., Michael Wolford, and Stephen Wolford. Honorary pallbearers include Hilario Hernandez, Richard Miller, Roderick Johnson, Richard Zerba, Gene Wolford Sr., and Fausto Gonzalez.

Jack Lee Potter
Jack Lee Potter, 68, died Nov. 18, 2003, at his Yuma home.

Born Jan. 4, 1935, in Oklahoma, he worked in parking-lot maintenance.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Sunset Vista Cemetery, followed by interment.

George Wallace Libbey
George Wallace Libbey, 80, of Yuma, died Nov. 21, 2003, in Yuma.

Born July 25, 1923, in Oakland, Calif., he was a typographer in printing.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Westwind RV & Golf Resort, 9797 South Frontage Road. Sunset Vista Funeral Home is handling arrangements, including cremation.

Juan B. Ramirez
Juan B. “Mr. Buick” Ramirez, 70, of Somerton, died Nov. 17, 2003, at Yuma Regional Medical Center.

Born Oct. 11, 1933, in Edinburg, Texas, he had been an agricultural laborer.

A wake is from 4 to 11 p.m. Sunday at Immaculate Heart of Mary church, with rosary at 7 p.m. Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday at the church with burial to follow at Desert Lawn.

Johnson Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Cyril Elijah Albert
Cyril Elijah Albert, infant son of Cyril Kelly Albert and Edda Fabiola Castillo Albert, died Thursday, November 27, 2003 in Albermale Hospital, Elizabeth City, NC.

Besides his parents, Cyril Elijah is survived by paternal grandparents, Dewitt and Beth Albert of Church Road, VA; maternal grandfather Raul A. Castillo, MD. from Yuma, AZ; maternal grandmother Edda Castillo from Birmingham AL, and three uncles; Raul Alberto Castillo, Tony Castillo and Beau Albert.

Alma Dois ‘Nana’ Beshears
Alma Dois “Nana” Beshears, 77, of Yuma, died November 25, 2003. Born August 6, 1926, she was a homemaker and baby-sitter for many children of the local community.

She is survived by sons Terry (Sheila) and Gary (Emilia) Beshears, and granddaughter Christina, all of Yuma.

Kammann Mortuary is handling a private cremation.

Paul E. McCollum
Paul E. McCollum, 82, died Nov. 10, 2003, at his Yuma home.

Born Nov. 2, 1921, in Decatur, Ala., he was a retired engineering contractor.

Services are pending at Kammann Mortuary.

Roger W. Cochlin
Roger W. Cochlin, 82, passed away peacefully, Sunday, November 16, 2003.

Roger was born April 18, 1921 in Austin, Minnesota, to William F. “Frank” Cochlin and Agnes Creegan. He served honorably in WWII and was one of the survivors of the USS New Orleans, CA-32, which was torpedoed and nearly sank in the Pacific.Roger married Kathleen Ann Hurley from Chicago, January 12, 1946.Together they raised nine children.Roger retired from Hormel Foods, Austin, MN and moved to Arizona.

He loved to travel and for many years he and his wife traveled the highways as an Escapee RV Club member.Roger never met a stranger and was a long time member of several VFW posts and a current member of Post 2399 Mineral Wells.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Ressler.

Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Kathleen; sons, Roger F. of Lincoln, Montana, John D. (Mary Ann) of Omaha, Nebraska, James M. ‘Jim’ (Shelly) of Chrystal River, Florida, Donald T. (Lori) of Ramona, California; daughters, Jane A. Brown (Jerry) of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Margaret L. “Peg” March (Mark) of Mineral Wells, Texas, Patricia M. “Pat” Winkels (Mike) of Luverne, Minnesota, Cathy A. Hamblin and Shirley Rae Cochlin, both of Chandler, Arizona.Roger was blessed to have 19 Grandchildren and three Great Grandchildren. He is additionally survived by his brother-in-law, Charles Ressler of Blooming Prairie, Minnesota and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells, TX.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Veterans of Foreign War, Post 2399 Veteran widows relief fund, 1400 SE 23 St, Mineral Wells, TX 76067.
