Leon of Peoria, AZ, Aida S. Miller of Tucson and Alva A. Dodson of Phoenix, AZ; grandmother of Randy A. Leon of Phoenix, AZ, Larry A. Leon of San Diego, CA and Mark A. Leon of Lake Tahoe, CA, Monica L. and Christina Leon both of CA, Michelle L. Rhonehouse of Auburn, WA, Jacqueline M. and Arlene M. Dodson both of Phoenix; great-grandmother of Eric L. HARRIET 'BARKY' LEWIS - passed away on Saturday May 29, at the age of 90. She died with grace and dignity, just as she had lived her life with grace and dignity. Barky was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Donald B. Lewis, who passed away three years ago. They moved to Tucson in 1937 from Pennsylvania. Barky was born in York, Pennsylvania and was a registered nurse prior to her 61 years of marriage to Don. They were members of the First Methodist Church and the Tucson Country Club. Barky leaves behind a daughter, Diane Carey; a son, Donald B. Lewis, Jr.; both living in Tucson, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Barky had many lifelong friends here in Tucson, although sadly, she outlived many of them. A special companion and caregiver of Barky's for the past 30 years has been Maria Gonzalez. Our family owes a debt of gratitude to her and other caregivers who gave so much to allow our mother to live and die with such dignity and respect.

RAMOS, Alejandro G., age 63, a 58 year resident of Arizona, passed away May 23, 1999 in Tucson. Born January 25, 1937 in Esperanza, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ellen; sons, Alejandro Ramos, Jr. and Jose Ramos; daughter, Josefina (Andres) Ronquillo; 15 grandchildren; brother, Jesus Ramos; sisters, Teresa Corrales, Juana Espinosa, Guillirmina Ramos and Ernestina Ramos. She is predeceased by two sisters, Luz Elena Ramos and Margarita Ramos. A visitation will be held from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 1999 at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave., Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, a certified aftercare provider.

ALCORN, Stanley Marcus - Friends are invited to a reception at the Arizona Inn Sunday, June 20, 1999 at 11:00 a.m., to the celebrate the life of Stanley M. Alcorn who died April 18, 1999.

HITCHCOCK, Henry, died at his residence in Tucson, AZ on June 3rd, 1999 after a brief illness. Mr. Hitchcock was born in Boston, MA on July 24, 1906 and grew up in St. Louis, MO. He was a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Business School. Mr. Hitchcock was active in charitable affairs in St. Louis for many years. Mr. Hitchcock had maintained a residence in Tucson since 1970. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Eleanor Hoblitzelle Hitchcock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tucson Botanical Garden or the Tucson Medical Center. No services are planned.

JACKSON, Mary Louise, age 94, of Diamond Bar, California, passed away May 31, 1999. Mrs. Jackson was a resident of Tucson from 1932 until 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marian Sanders of Diamond Bar, CA; sons, Walter Jackson of Los Angeles, Gene Jackson of Richmond, and Robert Jackson of Las Vegas, NV; 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Golden Links – Chapter 28 of Masonic Grand Chapter, Prince Hall Affiliate, Order of the Eastern Star – Texas Jurisdiction. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. June 9, 1999 at family owned ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. at Speedway with Dr. Charles Harrell officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment South Lawn cemetery, Tucson, Arizona.

TRIMBLE, Linda G., of Tucson, died Tuesday, June 2, 1999. She is survived by her mother, Annie Brown of Tucson; father, Garfield Brown of Tucson; children, Adelaid Trimble and Willie Trimble, both of Tucson; brothers, Randy Brown of Washington, D.C. and Larry Brown of New Jersey; maternal grandmother, Elsie Foreman of Florida and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 1999, Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 210 East Lester, Rev. Rickey Bernard Harvey officiating, inurnment will be held privately. Sylva (Branstetter) Abbott, 84, of Tucson passed away June 3, 1999. Survived by her children, Jean McCracken, Joseph Branstetter and Anna (John) Howe, all of Tucson; grandchildren; Linda Harris and Tim (Cindy) Cox of Show Low, Tami (Greg) Shaver, Kristi and Staci Branstetter and their mother, Judy of CA, Leanna and Joe Howe of Tucson; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. preceded in death by her son, Bob Branstetter and grandson, , Mike Cox. Sylva was born in Ira, Missouri on August 14, 1914. She moved to Tucson in 1933. Sylva was ahead of her time. She loved to buy rental property which was her version of Monopoly. She then went onto another game called Bingo. Despite her age and limited eyesight, she played almost everyday. We love you and will miss you, Mom. GEORGE RICHARD CUSHING, age 60, of Tucson, passed away June 3, 1999. He is survived by wife, Doris; children, Richard Cushing, JoAnn Rogers, Ronald Jennings, Cyndie (Brent) Gailey; grandchildren, Jeremy Rogers, Lisa Belcher, Amanda and Jason Gailey; brother, Robert (Diane); sisters, Bobbie Markham, Nancy Runyon and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine and a daughter, Deborah. George was a very active member of the LDS Church. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 9, 1999 with a visitation 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the LDS Sumter Chapel, 3500 W. Sumter Rd. ERICKSON, Blanche LoVerne, 84 years old, died Sunday, June 6, 1999 in Tucson. Born on June 14, 1914 in Ashland, Wisconsin. Survived by her children, Roberta Jane (Jack) Davis of California, Richard (Nancy) Erickson of Tucson, AZ, Frederick W. (Maryln) Erickson of Utah; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. preceded in death by her husband, Fred; daughter, Elizabeth; son, Jon and sister, Annabelle. She was a member of Rincon Congregational Church. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements handled by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

FISHER, Alvin E., 86, died Saturday, May 29, 1999 in Vail, AZ. Mr. Fisher was born September 29, 1912 in Redlands, CA. Survived by three sons, Alvin E. Fisher, Jr., Wayne C. Fisher, Gregg G. Fisher; two daughters, Sherry L. Pannell and Sonya Ball; sister, Marie Demeres, 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at Desert Vista cemetery, 2151 S. Avenida Los Reyes, Tucson, AZ Arrangements handled by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 881-0338.

GASTELUM, Juan F., 28, of Tucson, died June 3, 1999. Son of Arcelia S. Gastelum; brother of Armida and Carlos Gastelum, Maria M. (Scott) Price. Mass at Saint Francis Cabrini Church, Thursday, June 10, 1999 at 11:00 a.m. Rosary at ABBEY FUNERAL CHAPEL, Wednesday, June 9, 1999 at 7:00 a.m. Burial Holy Hope cemetery. THOMAS HENRY HARRIS was born in Nogales, Arizona on October 21, 1940. He spent his young life in Nogales and on the McGee Ranch, before moving to Tucson. At age seventeen he joined the National Guard, from there he went into the US Navy where he spent twelve years, in the states and overseas. Upon retirement from the Navy he moved his family back to Tucson, and worked in the construction industry as long as health permitted. Tommy went to be with the Lord on May 27, 1999, however he left his family and friends with golden memories. Their life here on Earth is better for having known him. He will be remembered for his honesty, fairness and ready smile, and missed by all who knew him. Son, the things I fell so deeply are the hardest things to say, but i love you in a very special way. If my tears were a stairway and my heartache a road, I'd walk to Heaven and ask the Lord to let me bring you back again. Survived by, mother, Mildred, dad, Woody Woodsworth; two sisters, Nona (Buddy) Peak, Leona Harris; two brothers, Alvin (Doris) Harris, Samuel (Louise) Harris, five children, fourteen grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, all who love him dearly. preceded in death by father Alvin Harris, grandson Joshua, a niece and two nephews. A memorial service and interment was at 2:00pm on the McGee Ranch June 5, 1999. David Harris officiated.

PATRICIA SAUNDERS HUGO, passed away Thursday, June 4, 1999. She is survived by her husband, George; son, Greg; grand-daughter, Shannon; three nieces and a nephew. She graduated from Tucson High and was a life member of Tucson Badger Foundation, and attended the University of Arizona. At Pat's request there will be no services. JAMRY, Karl, 42, of Tucson, passed away June 5, 1999. Survived by wife, Judith; daughters, Dawn (Scott) Taylor of NY, Erica (Gary) McClain, Samantha (Jeremy) Liddeke, Katrina and Brittany, all of Tucson; grandson, Cody Liddeke; sisters, Emy Rios of Tucson and Anna Jamry of Chicago; brothers, Edward of Chicago and Steve of NC. Karl was a truck driver for Digby Southwest. Visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Funeral service 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 10 at Calvary Chapel, 5170 S. Julian Dr. with Pastor Al Addleman officiating.

LITMAN, Joseph Karl, 88, died June 5, 1999. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MANNY L. ORNELAS, 76, born in Aguascalientes, Mexico, passed away May 3, 1999. Survived by wife, Lourdes; daughters, Lupe, Evelyn, Dolores, Mary Lou and son, Arthur Manuel; sister, Eva Lugo and brothers, Robert, Richard, Eduardo and Arthur; 19 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Manny was a WW II veteran and a U of A graduate. He was a pioneer in Hispanic radio and TV Broadcasting and one of the first to introduce mariachis and Mexican folklore into Arizona in the early 1950's. He had his own radio and TV shows called The Manny Ornelas Show and as many will recall he began his show with Las Coronelas and ended with Ojos Espanoles. Memorial services were held on June 2, at St. Johns Catholic Church. Your thoughts and prayers would be greatly appreciated by the family.

PAIN, Amelia Metzler, 81, of Tucson, passed away June 06, 1999. preceded in death by husband, Ernest N. Pain; son, William F. Pain. Survived by daughters, Carolina I. (Guadalupe) Garcia, Myra Metzler, Consuelo Armstrong and Ana Marie Lockhart; sons, Edmond A., Joseph, Ernest V. (Frances), John and Jerry Pain; sisters, Herminia Bernal and Guadalupe Martinez; brother, James Metzler. Also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 10, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, (South Chapel), 240 S. WOLLENWEBER, Irene R., 93, died June 4, 1999. preceded in death by her husband, Louis H. Wollenweber, 1996. Survived by nieces and nephews and several very close friends. BRACAMONTE, Guillermo A., 66, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999 at Tucson Medical Center in Tucson, Arizona. He was retired from the City of Tucson where he worked in the street maintenance department. He enjoyed Bingo, Casino gambling and being a soccer coach. Mr. Bracamonte lived in Tucson for life. He was born November 15, 1932 in Safford, AZ. His father Guillermo Bracamonte and his mother, Isabel Alvarez Bracamonte preceded him in death. Visitation will be at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS on Thursday, from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 11, 1999 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Agustin Cathedral. Burial will be in Holy Hope cemetery. A decorated Korean War Veteran, he died after a long battle with cancer at the age of 66. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict having attained the rank of Corporal. He enlisted on February 9, 1951 and was discharged on February 11, 1954. He is survived by his wife, Ernestine; and daughters, Linda (Danny) Cota and Patsy (Mariano) Guzman; sons, David (Cecilia) Bracamonte, Robert (Lea) Bracamonte and Frank Bracamonte. BRAVO, Fernando Leonel, 79, born on November 9, 1919, passed away on June 6. preceded in death by his wife, Ruth M. Bravo, 1985. Survived by long-time companion and caretaker, Mae Schiek and family; son, Leonel F. Bravo; daughters, Carolyn J. Saenz and Virginia Rush; 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Graveside service will be held on Thursday June 10, 1999, at Holy Hope cemetery, 9AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Carondolet Foundation, 1802 W. St. Mary's Rd., Tucson, AZ 85745.

CASAVANT, William A., 66, died Sunday, June 6, 1999. Survived by his wife, Margaret 'Peggy' Casavant; daughters, Kathryn and her husband, Michael Lapare and Ruth and her husband, Jon Gibson; granddaughters, Jennifer and Beverly Gibson. Bill retired from the U.S.A.F. after over 20 years service. Resident of Tucson since 1970. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 10, 1999 at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, an aftercare provider, 5801 E. Grant Rd., where funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 11, 1999, with Pastor James T. Smith of Sahuaro Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at the East Lawn Palms Mausoleum.

CROSS, Betty, of Tucson, died peacefully in her home on June 7, 1999 at the age of 88. She is survived by her sister, Christine Peterson of Northfield, MN; nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces, and a daughter and grandson of Owatonna, MN. She will always hold a special place in the hearts and memories of everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed. At her request, there will be no funeral service. Survived by daughters, Isabel (Norman) Durbin, Mary Helen Buelna, Martha Valdez, Virginia Cuestas, Linda (Dale) Crone and Maria (William) Durbin; son, Juan (Alyce) Cuestas. Also survived by 36 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
