DE VALK, Ed, 67, of Tucson, born March 14, 1932 in Momence, IL, died March 14, 1999. Ed graduated from Butler University in Indianapolis, IN, and began his working career with P.R. Mallory in Indianapolis. After moving to Tucson, he was Comptroller at St. Joseph's Hospital, C.F.O. at Thomas Davis Clinic, and one of the original founders of Intergroup. He retired to his own tax practice in 1987. He spent 20 years volunteering in the Little League Baseball Program, served as a financial advisor for Salpointe Catholic Church School for many years, and was a member of B.P.O.E. #385. An avid sports fan, an ideal husband for a dedicated teacher, the perfect father, 'lots of direction, never too harsh.' He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Mary Jane De Valk (Hendrickson); sons, David (Kathleen), Doug (Jeanne St. Thomas), Don (Shirley); nine grandchildren; two brothers, John C., Harold G.; stepbrother, Frank Johnson. HAWN, James 'Jim', 63, passed away June 15, 1999. He is survived by his wife, Denise; children, Linda, Jay (Jamie), April and Heidi; stepchildren, Michelle, Paul and Brian; many grandchildren (including Ivan, his buddy) and one great-grandchild. Jim was born in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was very proud of his 20 year career in the U.S. Army, during which he served two Tours of Duty in Vietnam. Born on July 22, 1935, passed June 14, 1999. preceded in death by parents, Antonio and Catalina Patino. Survived by stepmother, Evangelina Patino; wife, Olga Patino; daughter, Irma Patino; sons, Oscar Patino, Edward (Lisa) Patino, Richard Patino (Jessica Ruiz) and Albert Patino (Edie Norriega); sisters, Catalina (Mike) Leon, Jessie (Bert) Leon; brothers, Gilbert (Romelia) Patino, George Patino, Ray Patino and Mario (Jeanette) Patino; 17 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Patino was a member of The Arizona Carpenters Local Union #857. He worked on the Central Arizona Water Project from pump stations to the underground siphons in Marana. He was a concrete foreman for Estes Homes and built many subdivisions in Tucson.

CHAMBERS McGREGOR, Susan, passed away peacefully at Tucson Medical Center on June 16 after battling a lung infection for five weeks. She was 55. She is survived by her husband, Art McGregor; brother, Wid Chambers of Portland, Ore.; godsons Casey Dennis and Jeff Wallace; and hundreds of friends worldwide. A Tucson resident for 44 years, Susan received a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and a master's degree from Stanford University. She was a staunch supporter of the arts and renown for her fabric designs, inspired by years of study in Japan. Susan was a patron for Tucson musicians and artists and was active in the Tucson Pima Arts Council. She served as one of the co-founders of WomanKraft. Her fundraising efforts benefited many groups, including the Tucson Museum of Art and Arts Genesis. 'I don't think the organization would have made it without her support, ' said J. Boye, Arts Genesis managing director. Mobile Meals also profited from her efforts. Susan delivered food to seniors and others on the group's behalf for the past 20 years. Galleries statewide have featured Susan's silk screens and watercolors of flowers and cactus. One of her shows is currently running at Sky Harbor International Airport in Phoenix. Susan was a consummate square dancer and a frequent traveler. She visited countries throughout the world, first with her mother, Freda, and then with her husband, Art. KIRK OWEN BALL, Age 69, beloved husband and father, passed away May 24, 1999. Born August 20, 1919, in Cleveland, OH, Kirk grew up in Richmond, VA and graduated from the University of Richmond in 1950. After graduation Kirk joined the U.S. Army where he served with honor for 23 years, retiring in 1972 as a Chief Warrant Officer. Kirk obtained his Masters of Business Degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1978, and served as Business Manager for the Dept. of Corrections at Ft. Grant, AZ, until his retirement in 1991. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Hannelore; sons, George and James; and grandchildren, Geoffrey and Coreena. Remembrances may be made to the American Parkinson's Association. A celebration of his life will be held at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base Chapel on June 25th, 1999 at 11:00 a.m.
