NYMAN, Joseph C., 76 years old, died Friday, June 18, 1999 in Tucson. Born on October 23, 1922 in Winchester, Mass. He was a salesman for Mining Industry. JAMES QUAYLE, 84, died peacefully at home June 18, 1999, surrounded by his loving family and listening to his favorite big band music. Born March 15, 1915 in Flagstaff, his was the 80th recorded birth in Arizona after statehood. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1946. He and Dorotha Thorman were married
in Okmulgee, OK, July 6, 1944. He taught electronics at Oklahoma A & M State Tech and was the Okmulgee city inspector until 1958 when the family moved to Tucson. He retired from Tucson Newspapers Inc. in 1978 as Electrical Manager of Production Maintenance. Jim and Dorotha built their retirement home in Lakeside, AZ, where the fishing was good, and lived there until they returned to Tucson in 1992. He was an artist, photographer, outdoorsman, Wildcat fan, a great story-teller and a real character! He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his wife, Dorotha; son, Tom; daughter, Rebecca Craig; foster daughter, Sue Crain; loving sons-in-law, Doug Craig and Danny Crain; grandchildren, Jeff and Kassandra Quayle, Danny (Lydia) and Bryon (Stephanie) Crain; great-grandsons, Clayton and Trevor James Crain; brothers, Bruce and Paul; sisters, Harriet Shively and Carmen Combs; stepmother, Ruth Quayle and many nieces and nephews. ARNIT, Michael J., 48, born February 27, 1951, passed away June 15, 1999. Predeceased by his father, Frederick, survived by his mother, Beatrice; brother, Daniel (Cathy); daughter, Beth and wife, Leana. Mike was involved with two historical buildings in the U of A area that are near completion of the restoration process. Mike was also an avid gun enthusiast and loved the outdoors, photography and astronomy. He also had a great love for animals. Michael will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but we only need to look to the stars for his twinkle. BRESLOW, Ian, born December 10, 1940 in Leeds, England, died June 22, 1999. preceded in death by his beloved father, Milton. Ian wanted to be remembered as a man who loved to laugh. He found great pleasure in his work as a technical writer, 26 years for the railroads and most recently for a Sweden based company in Tucson. He will be missed, perhaps most by his faithful German Shepherd, Sabra.
A remembrance of his life will be held at Temple Emanu-El, 225 N. Country Club Road, at 12:00 noon on Friday, June 25, followed with a gathering at the family home in Tucson. BRIGADIER GENERAL KEITH - Was born June 21, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois, and died June 22, 1999. He earned a bachelor of science degree in economics from the University of Tampa and a master of science degree in political science from Auburn University. He also attended the Air Command and Staff College, Industrial College of the Armed Forces and the Navel War College.
The general entered the Air National Guard in February 1953 as an Airman in Peoria, IL and received his pilot wings at Williams Air Force Base, Arizona. The General entered the active Air Force in October 1961 with assignments at Mac Dill AFB (Tampa), Nah AFB (Okinawa), and Royal Thai AFB (Udorn). He flew 108 combat missions over North Vietnam in F-4 Phantoms and was credited with destroying a Mig-17. Over his career, the general accumulated more than 4500 flying hours as a command pilot. His military decorations and awards include the Legion of Merit, Distinguished Flying Cross, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Medal.
Upon his return to the states in July 1974, he had a series of assignments that included: Operations Officer and Squadron Commander, 414 Fighter Weapons School, Las Vegas and Planner for Joint Operations, Pentagon. Following this he was Vice Commander, Zaragoza AFB, Spain; Deputy Commander for Operations, Ramstein AFB, West Germany; Group Commander, Bitburg AFB, West Germany and Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, NATO, West Germany. He returned to the United States again as the Commander of Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, June 1987 and Governor's Committee.
He enjoyed Tucson so much that he retired there a year later and consulted for the City of Tucson to help fight to maintain a military presence in Arizona. Retirement allowed his woodworking expertise to grow as well as his golf game.
General Keith was married
to the former Jacqueline Joan Harpman of Peoria, Illinois in May 1958. They have four daughters, Brenda, Lisa, Tara, and Kendra, as well as two grandchildren. Genevieve and Bryanna. His many hobbies included golf, hunting, woodworking and sitting on his patio overlooking the city with family, friends and Schnauzers, Bliss and Bandit.
There will be no visitation services. The funeral service will be Friday, June 25 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 5151 N. Valley View Road with interment immediately following at East Lawn cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Road. The family desires that all who knew him, join with them at the family resident to celebrate his life after the interment.
MOLINA, Lauro Cruz, 70, of Toltec, died June 21, 1999 of Cancer at Casa Grande Regional. He was born October 1, 1928 to Josefa Cruz and Juan Molina and spent his life as a farm laborer. He is survived by his wife, Marcella Molina of Toltec; his 12 children, Armando, David, Henry, Raul, Robert, Jose, Ruben, Gilbert, Alfonso Molina, Belen Lawlor, Emily Clayton, and Margarita Molina; 31 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and brother, Estanilao Molina. Lauro enjoyed gardening, tinkering, and telling jokes. An all night visitation will be held on Friday, June 25, 1999 at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be said at 7:00 p.m. at Cristo Rey Church, where a memorial mass will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 1999. WILMA K. WYLIE - Born October 28, 1914, in Marietta, OH, went to be with our Lord on May 15, 1999, in Akron, Ohio. After retiring from the Goodyear Bank, Wilma spent the last 21 winters in Tucson with her daughter, Sandra Holm (Douglas), and her granddaughters, Kathleen and Sarah. Wilma is also survived by her daughter, Linda Doss of Akron, and grandsons, Andrew McDonald of Phoenix, and Marshall Doss of Akron. Wilma enjoyed gardening, her grandchildren, her dog, Trinka, and watching basketball games. A memorial service will be held at Streams in the Desert Lutheran Church, 5360 E. MAX YAMPOLSKY - Born June 11, 1932 in Brooklyn, NY, Max passed away June 22, 1999, after a courageous battle with cancer. preceded in death by son, Michael, Max is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marilyn; daughter, Gail (Jackie) Frank; sons, Mark (Terry) and Steven (Karen) Yampolsky. Also survived by seven grandchildren, David, Leah and Danielle Frank, Rachel, Aaron and Hannah Yampolsky; Benjamin Yampolsky; and mother-in-law, Yetta Kirshner Lerner.
Arriving in Tucson in 1961, Max was the well-known bar and nightclub owner and operator of such landmark establishments as the Esquire Club and Roman Inn on Congress Street. He also pioneered the popular Pirate's Den, Flying Tiger, Fun Factory, Mac's Place and Rock Island Cafe on the East Side of Tucson.
Max will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather and beloved friend to many. An avid world traveler, Max loved life and lived it to its fullest.
