GASKILL, Esther Elvina Furnas, 88, of Tucson, died July 2, 1999. Born September 19, 1910 in West Milton, OH to Dr. Earl Emerson Furnas and Madge Elizabeth Ireland. Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Donovan William Gaskill, who died in 1994. They were married
on December 6, 1930 in West Milton. She is survived by son, Brian (Peggy) Gaskill of Henderson, NV: daughter, Sharon (John) Whitthorne of Tucson; sisters, Harriet (Kenneth) Brandon and Jane Furnas of Tucson, Suzanne (Rodney) Masterman of Prescott, AZ, Caroline (Paul) Carey of Dayton, OH; brother, George Furnas of Mayer, AZ; sisterin-law, Lova (Dillen) Gaskill of Dayton, OH; four grandsons, Bradley Gaskill of Henderson, Gregory Gaskill of North Hollywood, CA, Paul Whitthorne of New York, NY and Perry (Elizabeth) Whitthorne of Tucson, and their son, Nathaniel, Esther's only great-grandchild. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Esther graduated from Miami Jacobs Business College and worked as a secretary until her children were born. After raising her family, she returned to work at the University of Arizona in the College of Nursing and retired as the Secretary to the Dean in 1975. LARRY LEE HUMPHREY, 53, of Tucson, passed away 21 June 1999 at his home. Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana August 1, 1945. He was a graduate of Catalina High School in Tucson. He served in the US Navy in Vietnam. He was employed by University Medical Center in Tucson for 23 years as a Radiological Engineer. Larry was buried in Fort Wayne beside his mother, Esther. Larry is survived by his sisters, Patty, Deb, Rise; and father, Paul; stepfather, James; stepbrother and sister, William and Melinda. Larry loved his adventures in his truck and on his motorcycle. GY SGT. EDUARDO LARA, RET. USMC, 63, of Tucson, passed on July 5, 1999. His survivors include wife, Joan O. Lara; mother, Maria G. ELLIS JEWELL SANDERSON - Known as 'Bud' - Died from cancer on Sunday, July 4, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 81. Mr. Sanderson, the only son of Jewell and Lucille (Roberts) Sanderson, was born in Cairo, Illinois in 1917 and lived there until he enlisted in the army in 1941.
Bud was a B-17 pilot stationed in England when he was shot down over France in 1942 and became a German prisoner of war. He was liberated in 1945. Returning to Cairo, he married
Kay Vincent. They were married
for 44 years until her death in 1990.
After graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign, he worked as an insurance agent in Illinois and Arizona, where he retired.
He is survived by his four children, Robert (Jackie) Sanderson of St. Louis, Sally (Robert) Remington, Margaret Harding and Susan (Ray) L'Heureux of Tucson; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter and his cousins in the Cairo area: Betty (Jimmy) Johnson, Kathleen (Lester) Grandstaff, Margaret (Jack) Bauer, Alice Johnston and Helen Dunn.
Memorial service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999 at HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME, 22nd & Swan. Burial will take place at Villa Ridge, Illinois. John attended Mitchell Business College for one year, then returned to the family farm due to the war. He moved to Arizona in 1969. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for more than fifty years.

WEAVER, Sue 'Morning Star' born December 12, 1934 in Kokomo, IN to Allen and Dorothy (McMillen) Martin, died July 5, 1999 in Marana, AZ. In 1953 she married
Dale E. Weaver. Her father, husband, and son, Martin preceded her in death. She is survived by son, Dale Weaver; mother, Dorothy (McMillen) Martin Rains; stepfather, Carol Rains; grandson, Justin Weaver; sister, Peggy Kiser; three sisters-in-law, one brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews. She had many friends from all over the U.S. Sue was raised in Logansport and lived there until 1975 when they moved to Tucson, AZ. They moved to Loveland, Colorado for a few years, and then back to Marana, AZ. Sue was a successful artist and has her art in galleries in Arizona and Colorado. Her love of the Indians and the west inspired her work. She has battled cancer for the last five years, and has been an inspiration to many through her art and poetry. WESSON, Alta Loma (Teel), 87, was born January 18, 1912 in Sabinal, Texas to Daisy Belle (Decker) and Monroe J. Teel. She died peacefully July 5, 1999 at Devon Gables Nursing Home in Tucson.
She was married
to Norval L. Wesson on September 9, 1934 in Tucson. Alta and Norval were married
for nearly 65 years when he died in Tucson May 15, 1998.
Involved in retail sales during all her adult life until her retirement, Alta was associated with Montgomery Ward and J.C. Penney Companies. For more than 20 years she was the manager of the women's clothing department at the downtown and El Con Penney's stores until her retirement in 1970.
Alta and Norval were each others best friend. They enjoyed fishing and hunting together throughout Arizona. They also liked to travel and play cards with family and friends. Their home and yard were their pride and joy.
The youngest of four children, Alta was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Gaston L. Teel and Olton A. Teel and her sister, Lindel J. (Teel) Berry.
Survivors include her brothers-in-law, James D. Wesson and Earl (June) F. Wesson of Tucson; three nephews, Stanley G. Berry of CO, Ronald J. Berry of TX and Leon Teel of CA; six nieces, Gloria E. (Teel) Carroll of Tucson, Diane (Teel) Miller of GA, Helen (Teel) Smoak of SC, Sylvia (Wesson) Mooney of Tucson, Geraldine (Wesson) Carlile of Sierra Vista and Marilyn (Wesson) Johnson of CO.
