SMITH, Mitchell Landon, 28, departed against our wishes as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. MORRISON, Robert 'Bob', born March 16, 1909 in Parlier, CA, died peacefully in his home in Tucson on July 8, 1999. He was a resident of Arizona for over 60 years and practiced law from 1947 until 1994. Bob was a well-known political figure in Arizona during the 1950s when he served as Pima County Attorney from 1950 to 1952 and Arizona Attorney General from 1954 to 1958. In 1958 he was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for Governor. Tucsonans will best remember him for his successful cleanup of gambling and prostitution operations throughout Pima County during his term as County Attorney. As Attorney General his most notable accomplishment was the successful conclusion of the litigation in U.S. District Court that gave Arizona its allocation of Colorado River water for use in the Central Arizona Project. Without this landmark decision, it would have been impossible to build the Central Arizona Project. In later years, Bob practiced law in Tucson, Sierra Vista and Phoenix. He is survived by his companion Neva Jeanette Furman; his three sons, Robert (Cathy) of Tucson, John (Heather) and Michael both of Phoenix, daughters, Arpy of Green Valley and Carol of WA; brother, Bart Mosekian (Kitty) of Clovis, CA; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. BRYSON, Atha L., 86 years young, passed away suddenly on July 1, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. She was predeceased by her husband, John W. Bryson and is survived by daughter, Yvonne L. Magee; grandson, Robert A. (Janean) of Tucson; stepdaughter, Polly (Tom) Romantez of North Carolina; several nieces and nephews and a very special 4-legged friend, Lily. Mrs. Bryson was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church and a 25 year member of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 218 as well as Daughters of the Nile and the Ladies Auxilliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, all in Jacksonville, Florida. She moved to Tucson in 1994 where she enjoyed being with family and a host of wonderful friends, bridge and bingo buddies and she greatly benefited from the warm desert climate. Interment was at Jacksonville Memory Gardens in Orange Park, Florida, on July 9, 1999. A Memorial Service for Atha will be held in Tucson on July 14, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. at the Tucson Meadows Senior Mobile Home Park Clubhouse, Rev. John Holter officiating. ENGEL, Georgia Evelyn, 58, passed away at her Spokane home July 11, 1999. Georgia was born, raised and educated at Dunn Center, N.D. She married
and moved to Spokane in 1962 where she was employed as a Registered Nurse. After a lengthy illness she returned to Spokane where she resided until her death. She is survived by her husband, Dallas; 3 daughters, Barbara Linn of Findlay, OH, Kathleen Darrell of Farmington, NM., and Susan Peterson of Tucson, AZ.; son, Michael Engel of Spokane; and eight grandchildren.
