KRUG, Stephen C., 77, of Tucson, died July 11, 1999. Longtime resident of Tucson, formerly of South Hadley, MA. He married his wife Olive in Tucson in June, 1942, while stationed at Davis Monthan Air Force Base. They moved permanently to Tucson in 1950. He is survived by daughters, Kathy and Karen; sons, Bill, Steve and Gary; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; mother, Elizabeth Krug; brothers, Dan and Fred; sister, Agnes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive; father, William; son, David; sister, Janet and brother, William. Friends may call at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (at Magee) Wednesday, July 14, 1999 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 8650 N. Shannon Rd., Thursday, July 15, 1999 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Holy Hope cemetery. Donations may be made in Memory of Mr. Krug to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church.

KYNASTON, Gerda O., passed away in peace on Monday, July 5, 1999. She was born in State Center, Iowa, on January 7, 1917 and was a resident of Tucson for over 50 years. She is survived by her three sons, Trent, Grant, and Brent; her brother, Art Olsen; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. Gerda raised her three son's on her own from their early years, and will be remembered and loved for her selfless service to those in need, and her strong will and independent nature. Anyone who met Gerda was touched one way or another, and she was famous for her grand dinner's and Danish cinnamon rolls. A memorial service was held at her LDS church on July 8, 1999.

Mae Dorothy Lernor, 68, of Tucson, died suddenly, July 11, 1999. preceded in death by her husband Paul. Devoted mother on Donna (Fiancee, Jeff) Goldberg, Michael (Marilyn) Rubin, William (Pam) Rubin; stepchildren, Suzie (Ken) Berman, Mark (Marilyn) Lernor and Lou Lernor. Dear sister of Gloria (Harold) Moss and Hall (Eleanor) Friedman. Cherished grandmother of Jessica, Brandon, Melissa, Sarah, Stephanie, Natalie and Courtney. Also survived by many loved nieces, nephews and friends. Chapel Service Tuesday, July 13, 1999 at 11:00 a.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. Rabbi Thomas Louchheim officiating. Interment to follow at Evergreen cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions to the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Harold A. Malott, 64, died July 10, 1999. Harold was founder and owner of Blue Flame Bottled Gas, Inc. He was a long standing business owner for 45 years in the propane industry. A life long member of both Arizona and National Propane Gas Association. He was a sincere promoter of alternate fuel technology, a collector of vintage automobiles and a golf rookie. He will be missed. He was a member of The Better Business Bureau and The Tucson Chamber of Commerce. Harold enjoyed helping others in day to day life and he helped people achieve their own goals. He was actively involved in the McGruff Program for Children at Risk. Harold was very well known and respected by all. He is loved in our hearts and will be missed very much. Survived by his wife, Peggy Mackey of Tucson; daughters, Barbara Malott, Samantha Mackey-Wilson, both of Tucson; sisters, Elizabeth Bridegroom of Phoenix, Dorothy Kring of Plano, TX; brother, Kenneth Malott of Tucson; grandchildren, Sarah and Meghan. Services Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Mortuary. There will be a gathering of friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m to 8:00 p.m. EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

McCLURE, Barbara JoAnne, loving mother and grandmother, passed away July 10, 1999. Born September 3, 1933 in Sioux Falls, SD, to Mary and Frank Miller. Survived by husband, Frank McClure; daughter, Cynthia; sons, Edward, Timothy and Forrest; granddaughters, Elleen, Tina and Casey. In accordance with Barbara's wishes no services will be held. Remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Tucson.

MEAD, Sidney E. A memorial service for Dr. Sidney E. Mead, who died June 9, 1999 will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17 at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Northwest Tucson, 3601 W. Cromwell Drive. Dr. Mead is survived by his wife, Mildred LaDue Mead. He retired to Tucson after a distinguished career in teaching religion and history at the University of Chicago, Southern California School of Theology /Associated Colleges, Claremont, CA; and the University of Iowa. He subsequently taught short-term at many universities including the University of Arizona 1978-80.

RETZLAFF, Flora Lorraine, 72, died July 10, 1999. Mother of Bill (Sharon) Retzlaff and Vickie Moore all of Tucson; daughter of Mary Stanfill of Paducah, KY; grandmother of John Moore, III. of Dallas, Texas; nieces and nephews, Sonny South, Malcolm South and Lynn Perez also survive. Funeral Service 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 15, 1999 at Bring's Broadway Chapel, 6910 E. Broadway with interment to follow at TMP East Lawn. Friends may call from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 14, at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL.

Richard O. Riesgo, 63, of Tucson passed away July 10, 1999. preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Gertrude Riesgo; brothers, Joe and Gilbert Riesgo; sister, Natalia Reyes. He is survived by his wife Florence Riesgo; daughters Pauline Nanez and Alice Riesgo; son, Richard Riesgo, Jr.; sister Irene (Frank) Soto; brothers, Fred (Virginia), Oscar (Chelo) Armando (Sylvia) Riesgo; also survived by 1 grandchild, Stefini Nanez; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary, Inc. (South Chapel) 240 S. Stone Ave. with rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Augustine Cathedral, 192 S. Stone Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery.
Mr. Riesgo was a native Tucsonian and served in the Army and returning to work for 42 years at Hughes Aircraft as a machinists and union stewart retiring in 1996. He enjoyed golfing, New York Yankees and being with his family. He will be extremely missed by everyone. A special thanks to the staff of St. Mary's Hospice. Maria Louisa Vega, 81, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away July 11, 1999. preceded in death by her sons, Henry and Roy Vega. She is survived by her husband, Henry Vega; daughters, Cruz Vega and Grace (Carl) McGlothlin; sons, Anastacio (Maria) and Danny (Lupita) Vega; sisters, Juana Canez and Emilia Cruz; also survived by 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 1999 from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Carrillo's Tucson Mortuary (South Chapel), 240 S. WIELANG, Frederick William, long time Tucson resident, died at St. Mary's Hospice following a nine month battle with cancer. Mr. Wielang was born in Durango, CO., on August 2, 1918 to Anthony and May Dorothy Crawley Wielang. He was a veteran of WWII who served 3 1/2 years in the European arena. He worked in sales and management over 40 years in the wholesale/retail meat industry. He retired from Tucson Prime Meats in 1983. Married to Marguerite Ernestine Griffin in 1941, she died in 1943. He married Marybelle Proctor on December 28, 1946 in Nogales. She preceded him in death in December 1990. He is survived by daughter Dorothy and son-in-law Robert H. Rowley; three grandchildren, Jon F. Rowley of Tucson, Jean R. Robertson of Cleveland and Marc H. Rowley of Monterrey, Mexico; plus three great grandchildren. He was a member of the Tucson Rifle Club and a 32nd degree Mason with Adobe Lodge #41. A Masonic memorial service will be held Wednesday, evening, July 14, 1999 at 7:00 p.m. at ARIZONA MORTUARY, 7 E. University Blvd. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to a charity of their choice.

ARSENAULT, Irene M., passed away on June 30, 1999, in Fairfax, VA, at the age of 80. She has been laid to rest at Quantico National cemetery, in Quantico, VA. Irene served for years in the US Marine Corps during WWII, (1943-46) retiring as a Captain in order to marry Albert Arsenault. During his 28 years in the USMC, they traveled extensively, including duty stations in Guantanamo, Cuba, London, England and Paris, France. While in Cuba, Irene wrote a column for the weekly Havana Herald. Born in Grass Valley, CA, Irene graduated from UCLA with a degree in English. She was determined to spend her retirement in the West, and she and Al moved to Tucson in 1973. They were both avid golfers, and Irene was very active in the 49er's Country Club Association and the Women's 18 Holer's Group, where she served as president for several years. Irene and Al moved to the Washington, D.C. area in February 1999 to be nearer their children and grandchildren. She died peacefully after suffering a heart attack. She is survived by her husband, Albert Arsenault, daughters Joan and Michele, two grandchildren and her sister Rose Hutterman.

LAWRENCE (LARRY) EDWARD AUSTIN, 43, of Tucson, died July 9, 1999. Born on November 28, 1955, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Sarah Anne Austin; father, Leo Leslie Austin; and father-in-law, John W. Cordray. Larry was born in Worthington, MN on November 28, 1955. Upon graduation from Worthington Senior High School, he attended Drake University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music. Larry was a gifted flutist, guitarist, pianist, composer, and poet. After receiving his MBA in Finance from the Stern Graduate School of Business at New York University, Larry was employed by E.F. Hutton in New York. His most recent position was as a VP/Financial Consultant with Salomon Smith Barney of Tucson.
Larry was a member of St. John on the Desert Presbyterian Church. He was a former member and served as the Finance Committee Chair of East Brunswick Baptist Church, East Brunswick, NJ.
Larry loved his Lord, his family, and his many special friends, among them Bill Wilson. As a devoted husband and father, he enjoyed family activities, including baseball with his son, William, and wife, Lenora. Bible study, music, poetry, and reading were among his interests.
Larry is survived by his wife, Lenora Ann Cordray Austin; beloved son, William Lawrence Austin; mother, Rose Mathilda Austin of N. Mankato, MN; brothers, Les (Lynda) Austin and Lynn (Darla) Austin; sisters, Joan Austin (Arnoldus) Gruter, Janice (Tom) Murray, and Mary Austin (Kim) Crofts; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; mother-in-law, Lottie C. Cordray of Ravenel, SC; sisters-in-law, C. Marian Cordray and MaryLou Cordray; brother-in-law, John W. (Harriet) Cordray, Jr.; nephew, John William Cordray III; and many other relatives.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 15, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. at EAST LAWN MORTUARY CHAPEL, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Services will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. George J. White of East Brunswick, NJ officiating.

BOTZ, Prudence, 75, passed away on July 9, 1999. Survived by husband, Stanley; sons, Richard and Douglas; granddaughter and two great-grandchildren. No services.

EVANS, Myrtle M., 87, of Tucson, passed away on July 12, 1999. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Eric and one daughter, Connie M. Stevenson. She is survived by one son, Charles L. Evans; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. A visitation will be held Thursday, July 15, 1999 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 16, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at South Lawn Mortuary. Interment to follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements by South Lawn Mortuary.

GOLDBERG, Zelda M., born November 5, 1895, died July 10, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. Zelda was a long time resident of Granville, N.Y. and active in business and community affairs. She was preceded in death by one sister, three brothers; her husband, Louis and daughter, Rheet. Survived by son, Manning Miller; four grandchildren, David and Daniel of Tucson, Arizona, Donald of Greenwich, N.Y., Diane of Penn Yan, N.Y. and six great-grandchildren. Memorial service 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 15, 1999 at The Cascades, 201 N. Jessica. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MILLER, Milt, born November 2, 1949, suffered a massive coronary on July 12th, 1999 while on vacation. His wife, McGee, was at his side administering CPR at the time of his death. Milt was an outstanding drummer with the Bob Meighan Band, touring throughout the world. He was also an accomplished artist and sculptor. Most recently he served as the Buildings and Grounds Supervisor at St. Francis in the Foothills United Methodist Church. Milt is survived by his wife, McGee; his two sons, Jason and Sean; his sister and brother-in-law, Polly and Lynn Hare; nieces, Jennifer and Sarah and nephew, Timothy. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17th at St. Francis in the Foothills, 4625 E. River Road at Swan.

MILLS, Arthur Leland, 78, of Willcox, AZ died July 12, 1999 in Tucson, AZ. Survived by his wife, Lucie Smith Mills of Willcox, AZ; sons, Kenneth E. Mills of Tucson, AZ, Michael L. (Teresa) Mills of Willcox, AZ; grandchildren, Jason, Brian and Marcia Mills of Willcox, AZ; sister, Catherine Forsyth of Tucson, AZ; brothers, David Mills of Marana, AZ, John Mills of Missouri. Visitation Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m. at Westlawn Chapel in Willcox, AZ. Funeral service Friday, July 16, 1999, 10:00 a.m. at Willcox LDS Church. PLIMPTON, Marjorie, a gifted teacher of children, was born in Avon, NY on December 10, 1909 and died in Tucson on July 9, 1999. After attending Houghton College and the University of the State of New York at Genesco she taught Jr. High in Marion, NY. In 1945 Marge came to Caledonia-Mumford Central School and enjoyed many happy years teaching first graders. Her later teaching experience was as coordinator for the Reading Program in the elementary school. She is preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Stella Plimpton. Marge is survived by her cousin, Phyllis Fisher-Smith and Ron of Ocala, FL, Betty-Rae, Richard and Brian. She will also be greatly missed by her good friend, Theo Rossney with whom she enjoyed many happy years of retirement. Marge loved nature, flowers, birds, the sky and all God's great gifts. The quote: 'Nature's silent wonders speak the poetry of the earth' was a descriptive verse for her. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 1999 in the chapel of Trinity Presbyterian Church, 400 E. University Blvd. Remembrances may be made in her name to Trinity Church's Memorial Fund or to the Community Food Bank. 'May the light of God surround you. The power of God protect you. RINSCHLER, Nina M., 86, passed away July 11, 1999. She was the wife of the late Charles M. Rinschler. She is survived by a son, Roger J. Rinschler of Italy; a daughter, Caroline E. Engel of Tucson; a sister, Irene Carlson of Uncasville, CT; two grandchildren, Charles Engel of Tarzana, CA and Catherine Hunnicutt of Nashville, TN. She was predeceased by a brother, Rufus Harris, Jr. She was a member of the Eastern Star and Tucson Senior Citizen's Group. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 14, 1999 at 4:00 p.m. in the EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, 5801 E. Grant Rd. Visitation will take place from 3:30 p.m. until time of services.

THORNTON, Harold J., 92, passed away July 12, 1999. He served as a civilian during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor (Mann) Thornton; sons, William, Thomas and Edward; eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be private for his family. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, aftercare providers.
