MCDOWELL, RENA "REN," 43, of Morristown passed away Fri., Oct. 24, 2003, suddenly at her home. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and her adoptd grandfather, Clyde Thompson. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a graduate of Morristown Hamblen East. Survivors include her daughter, Jessica McDowell; parents, Bruce and Sue Harville; brother and sister-in-law, Floyd and Jenny Southerland Harville, all of Morristown; aunts, Vannah Davis of Clarksville and Alma Gratz of Morristown; uncle, Ben Graves of Clinton; adopted grandmother, Melissa Thompson of Morristown; special loved nieces, Leah and Brooke Harville of Morristown; special cousin, Gregg Davis of New York; and several other cousins, relatives and friends. Funeral services will be 8 p.m., Sun., Oct. 26 at Allen Funeral Home with the Revs. Geroge Johnson and Richard Long officiating. Interment will be 11 a.m., Mon., Oct. 27 in Hamblen Memory Gardens. Marie R. McCulley
McCULLEY, MARIE R., passed away Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 at her home with her mother, husband and friends at her side. Marie had fought, with vaor, a lengthy battle with cancer. Marie was born in London, Ontario, Canada Oct. 13, 1942. She had lived in various places around the USA. She and her hsuband moved to the Lakeway Region in September 1992. Marie worked in the Mortgage Banking Business for more than 20 years. She was last employed by Citizens Bank of New Tazewell. Marie was an award winning member of the Rose Center Quilters Guild in Morrisotwn. Survivors include her husband, Gil McCulley of Mooresburg; mother, Fern Kroeckel; and brother, Gordon Rennison and wife, Sue, of Ellenton, Fla. In Boise, Idaho John McCulley and wife, Melody, Donna McCulley Mahaney, grandsons, Kieran S. McCulley and Daniel R. McCulley. There are several cousins in Ontario, Canada. There will be a memorial service at Allen Funeral Home 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. Refreshments willb e served in the home after the service. Harry A. Archer
ARCHER, HARRY A., 68, of Morristown, went to be with the Lord Fri., Nov. 21, 2003, at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare. Mr. Archer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and a 35 year employee of Berkline. He was a volunteer with the Morristown Rescue Squad since its early beginnings. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 231, and a member of Calvue Missionary Baptist Church. Harry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Minnie Mae Archer. Surviving him are his wife of 45 years, Irene; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lisa Archer; daughter and son-in-law, Debra and Mike Singleton; grandson, Lucas Archer and future granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Dickerson; granddaughters, Casey Archer and January Singleton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Q.V. and Bob Gillette, and Madge and June Walker; brother and sister-in-law, Eural and Phyllis Archer; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Mon., Nov. 24 at Calvue Missionary Baptist Church, with the Revs Jack Free, Lee Wayne Grubb, and Barry Warren officiating. SEALS, ELIZABETH MORELOCK, 82, of Morristown, passed away Fri., Nov. 28, 2003. She was preceded in death by her husband, Grant C. Seals; parents, George W. and Laura Helton Morelock; grandson, Terry Lynn Seals; and brother, Carroll Morelock. She was the oldest living member of Fairfield Baptist Church. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, G. Bruce and Phyllis Seals, and Donnie and Jewel Seals; daughter and son-in-law, Beryl (Seals) and Tom Riner; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. WOMBLE, KENNETH "KEN" EDGAR, age 62, of Morristown, departed this life Sunday, Nov. 30, 2003. A native of Sanford, N.C., he resided in Morristown for 38 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was the retired owner of Womble Advertising Service. He was a loving husband, father and friend to all who knew him. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Lila Mae Womble; brothers, Tom Womble and Glenn Womble; and sisters, Kathleen Morgan and Hazel Cox. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Jane Cole Womble; daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Kristopher Bryant of Knoxville; son, Kenneth Todd Womble of Orlando, Fla.; mother-in-law, Dorothy S. He was retired from BSA Fibers and the Hamblen County Board of Education. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Clyde and Dora Musick and father-in-law, Hobert Hopson. BAXTER, WALLACE, age 83, of Morristown, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at Lakeway Regional Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Della Baxter; parents, Alvin and Cora Baxter; and brothers, L.C. and George Baxter. Mr. Baxter was the last surviving charter member of Westview Baptist Church. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Bill Burgin of Russellville; grandchildren, Gary Burgin andwife, Lisa, and Larry Burgin and wife, Gina; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Christy, Tiffany and Destinee Burgin, all of Morristown, and April Grindstaff and husband, Chad, of Greeneville; brother and sister-in-law, Wilburn and Mary Baxter of Talbott; sister, Christine Inman of Morristown; special niece, Shelby Ridley; and several other nieces and nephews. GOODLAND, WANDELL S., age 72, of Morristown, formerly of Racine, Wis, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her son, John Stephen Goodland and parents, Harry and Sadie Drake Schaefer. Mrs. Goodland was a member of P.E.O. and the Ladies Reading Circle. She was also one of the founders of Happy Hearts School for the Handicapped in Portsmouth, Ohio. She was of the Episcopal faith. Mrs. Goodland devoted her life to raising her family and caring for her husband of 51 years in various places, including Tennessee, Ohio, France, California and South Carolina. Survivors include her husband, David C. Goodland; daughters, Jan Goodland-Metz and husband, Jeffrey, of Newport, R.I., Jill K. Goodland of Bath, Ohio and Judy Clark and husband, Kendall, of Newport, Tenn.; grandchildren, John Goodland, McCauley and Kristen Clark and Megan Mitcheltree; great-grandchildren, Ashley Tarr and Aurora Goodland; brohter, Emer Schaefer of Sarasota, Fla.; and sister-in-law, Janet Behl of Columbus, Wis.
