BRAHMS, Ellis H., 86, of Tucson, passed away September 16, 1999 of heart complications. His wife of 51 years, Harriet ('Sweetie'), preceded him in death on August 11, 1999. His sisters, Annette Elpern, Faye Cohen, Belle Cohen and Elizabeth Whiting also preceded him in death. He is survived by three sons, Lawrence (Diane) of Junction City, Oregon, David (Lisa) of San Juan Capistrano, California and Fredric of Tucson; seven grandchildren, Amy, Aaron, Anna, Andrew, Alyssa, Justin and Kelsey; one brother, Murray of Tamarac, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. Upon graduating high school in 1931, he received a full academic scholarship to Case Western University. He declined the scholarship to assist his parents in their kosher meat market located in Akron, Ohio. In 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserve, assigned to a unit responsible for the design and construction of the dirigibles. Following his discharge from the Navy in 1945, Ellis chose to join his sister, Faye in Tucson. Thereafter, he met Harriet and they were married
on January 18, 1948. He was a brilliant man, talented in several disciplines. In particular, he exhibited natural abilities in applied mathematics and engineering. Ellis found his niche in construction. For over 30 years, he owned and operated successful general construction businesses, including E. H. Brahms Construction. Although he focused primarily on extensive home, school and commercial remodeling, other construction projects included new commercial buildings and several quality custom homes in the Catalina Foothills. Even following his retirement and until shortly before his death, Ellis remained active in his field. He was a consultant for the Manning House, acting, among other functions, as a liaison with the general contractor for the remodeling and restoration of this historic structure. Ellis was a perfectionist, who seemed to have inexhaustible energy that he applied with vigor to accomplish his personal and business goals throughout his life. He was a loving and deeply devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His family and friends will long remember him as a compassionate and selfless man. Funeral services for Ellis will be held on Sunday, September 26, 1999 at 1:00 p.m. at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Stephanie Aaron officiating. BRASWELL, Dorothy O., 86, entered eternal life on September 22, 1999. RALPH V. CURRIER, 81, born in Kansas City, MO April 6, 1918, passed away September 19, 1999. He was a graduate of Tucson High School and attended the University of Arizona as an Accounting major. Ralph joined the US Army and served as an enlisted man in England during WW II. He attended Officers Candidate School and was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Transportation Corp. Later, he received an Honorable Discharge as a Captain in 1946.
Ralph worked 41 years with the Southern Pacific Railroad, first, as a clerk and switchman. Later, he became an officer of the company and served in many managerial positions in the Southwest, including Trainmaster and Asst. Superintendent of the Rio Grande, Tucson, San Joaquin, and Western Divisions. He retired in 1977 from the railroad's San Francisco Headquarters as Manager of Transportation Rules & Training for the system.
Ralph was a member of the Elks, Masonic Temple, Scottish Rite and, Sabbar Shrine and had many beloved friends and family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.G. Currier (Tucson, AZ); his father-in-law and motherin-law, Mr. and Mrs. Tully Jones (Tucson, AZ); and his brother, W.F. Currier (Los Angeles, CA). He is survived by his loving wife, Marvelle (Tucson); his sister, Ione Cavilier (Arcadia, CA); his three sons and wives, Vic and Denise Currier (Phoenix), Ken and Karen Currier (Tucson), Paul and Margaret Currier (Tucson); three grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

DELFOSSE, Charles V.H., 67, passed away September 20, 1999 from natural causes. He is survived by his loving wife, Tamzi; brothers, Dick and Warren Delfosse; nieces and nephews, Joe, Rob, Laurie, Kate, Nancy, Jennifer, Natalie, Fritz, and many, many, friends, Born November 9, 1932 in Chicago, Illinois, he moved Tucson, Arizona where he attended Tucson High School, winning the Arizona Allstate Football Player Award. In 1951, he graduated high school with scholarships to Stanford University where in 1955 he received a degree in economics and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. After college, he served his country in the Army for two years. He then moved to Southern California where he was an active real estate broker for many years. MELTZER, Rowen, 50, suddenly and tragically killed in auto accident in Tucson on September 12. Born in Minneapolis, MN on August 14, 1949. REV. ROBERT J. STULTING, C.S.P., 78, completed his journey on September 21, 1999 and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord whom he served so faithfully for 38 years as a priest. Born February 7, 1921 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, only son of Cornelius J. and Cora Mae Ferguson Stulting. Ordained a priest in the Paulist Fathers on May 1, 1961. He arrived at the Church of St. Cyril of Alexandria in Tucson in September 1986 and labored in his chosen 'vineyard' of the Tucson Medical Center until retiring in 1993. He will be fondly remembered by many of the medical staff with whom he served the sick and dying, as well as for the faithful service he provided at St. Ann's Convent and St. Cyril's Parish. His particular love was the study of Sacred Scripture. For many years prior to his arrival in Tucson and during almost thirteen years while at St. Cyril's he shared this love and knowledge in regularly scheduled classes. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army for three years as a member of the 216th Coast Artillery Battalion and was in the invasion forces at Anzio Beachhead, Italy. He will be greatly missed by so many who heard him preach the Word and found inspiration in his fidelity to his Lord. He leaves no living relatives. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 24, 1999 at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima Street. Our Mother, Cleo L. Hicks, aka as Mrs. Brown, went Home today. She was walked Home with all her loved ones, as she felt she was needed and afraid to leave us alone. We encouraged her to take that walk, find peace for herself, of which she did on September 22, 1999 at 7:05 p.m. Her loved ones that encouraged her were her husband of 53 years, Victor E. Hicks and their daughter, Jana (John); son, Daniel (Susan); grand-daughters, Jacque (David) and Kim (David); grandsons, Mac and Darren; great-grand-daughters, Kelseyface and Miss Natasha. Our mother was unique because she called us spade a spade and always backed her word regardless of the consequences. We Miss you Mom.

CLEO LEONA HICKS, 82, passed away September 22, 1999 at Valley Health Care where she has resided for the last three years. She was born on November 17, 1916 to Ed and Sally Neal Childs in Buffalo, KS and preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Irene Childs and Lottie Halbert. She leaves her loving husband of 52 years, Victor; children, Jana (John), Dan (Susan); grandchildren, Jacque (David), Kim (David), Mac and Darren; great-granddaughters, Kelsey and Natasha all of Tucson.
'Cleo The Riveter' was a very patriotic American who worked at Beech Air Craft in Wichita, KS during WWII. She found her way to Tucson where she remained until her death. She had a terrific sense of humor and will be greatly missed by those who knew her. The family wishes to thank the staff and crew at Valley Health Care for their tender care and dedication to Cleo over these last three years.

SAMUEL S. HUNT, 79, passed away September 12, 1999. Mr. Hunt served in the U.S. Navy and World War II. He was a Pearl Harbor survivor and also worked for the Department of Agriculture for 12 years upon release from the service. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Rose. Tony was many things to many people. In Tony's death, so many have lost so much. The world lost a good human being. His parents lost their baby boy. His siblings lost a precious part of their lives. His many friends of all ages lost a companion. Tony and brother, Tom, were best friends.
Tony had a 4.0 G.P.A. and was an exceptional and speedy baseball player. We will never forget this amazing young man.

LOGHRY, Norma Sackett Davy, 94, of Tucson, Arizona left her family and friends shortly after midnight September 21, 1999. She was born to Gertrude Electa Sackett Davy and Will J. Davy October 6, 1904 in Bergen, Genesee County, New York. She remembered good times on the farm of her grandparents Albert Henry and Ida May Snyder Sackett in Fancher, NY, happy hours in the Bergen carriage shop, livery stable and blacksmith shop operated by her father and grandfather John W. J. Davy (grandmother Anna Bella Gordon), horse drawn sleigh rides with jingle bell harness and buggy rides with Dad, while he was Highway Supervisor on the Tonawanda Seneca Indian Reservation. She said recently, 'We had fun.' She graduated from the Rochester Institute of Technology, in 1926. She lived in Plainfield, New Jersey and taught home economics in several schools (1926-1933). In 1928 she visited California, traveling by steamship through the Panama Canal. On August 15, 1931 she married
Clarence K. 'Pic' Loghry and the newlyweds moved to New York City, while she commuted to Plainfield by ferry across the Hudson River. They moved to Westchester County, living in Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, and White Plains, NY. After Pic's retirement from the New York Telephone Company in 1965, they moved to Boca Raton, Florida, where they spent 14 happy years until Pic died unexpectedly on June 1, 1979. In 1984 she moved to Tucson, the Flower Square Apartments (now the Oasis Apartments). In October, 1998, she contracted pneumonia, enduring two hospital stays. She was no longer able to live alone and moved to the Desert Gardens Clinical Care Center. We are very grateful for the care and consideration given to her by the caregivers at Desert Gardens and her Oasis friends. She is survived by her sons, James D. Loghry (Margaret R. Lascelle) of Tucson and John S. Loghry of Bronxville, NY and grandchildren Michael Andrew Loghry, Elizabeth Lascelle Matthias Loghry (Bryan W.), J. Douglas L. Loghry of Tucson and Lisa Ann Loghry of Yonkers, NY; former daughter-in-law Barbara L. Whyte, Debra Barnard Matthews (William James) and children Chelsea and Billy of Yorktown, NY, Susan Barnard Morelein (Andrew), and children Alex and Drew of Bow, New Hampshire and Gregory Barnard (Ann) and sons Ian and Evan of Kendallville, Indiana. A modest and unassuming woman, she never realized how many people she influenced in a positive way. Norma insisted there be no memorial service.
MCCARTHY, Mary F., age 77, passed away on September 19, 1999, leaving two children, Kevin Miniat (Nancy) of Tucson and Linda Dieckmann (Wally) of San Diego, CA; and six grandchildren, Scott, Dayna, Matt, Christie, Trevor and Amy.
