SEARLE, Mary L., 77, of Tucson, died September 27, 1999. She is survived by her husband, James Searle; sons, Richard (Norma) Searle of Michigan, Ronald (Helen) Searle, James Searle and Chuck (Anita) Searle, all of Tucson; daughter, Mary (Ronald) McKinney of Tucson; 13 brothers and sisters; 25 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Graveside service, Thursday, 2:00 p.m., Evergreen cemetery, with Pastor Loren Emerson officiating. Friends may call on Thursday from 12:00 Noon until time of service, EVERGREEN MORTUARY & cemetery, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile.

SKUTA, George, 82, of Tucson, loving father and friend to many, died peacefully September 26, 1999. He was born in Williamson, IL, served in the U.S. Army during WWII, and moved to Tucson in 1960 with his family. He was a member of Vista de la Montana United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Louise; sisters, Emma and Anne; and brother, John. He is survived by son, Stan (Linda); two grandsons, David and Kevin; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Vista de la Montana U.M.C., Thursday, September 30, 1999 at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of George to the Vista de la Montana Building Fund, 3001 E. WALTKE, Maida J., 88, of Tucson, passed away on September 28, 1999. She is survived by one son, Grant (Jean) Waltke; two sisters, Retha Harris, Dorothy Rowden; three grandchildren, Lori (Chris) Anthony of Ft. Wayne, IN, Taya Waltke of San Francisco, Ca, Tyson Waltke of Tucson; one great granddaughter, Nikkole Anthony; one nephew, Don (Sara) Grimm and one niece, Merrilyn (Don) Norton. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 30, 1999 at 6:30 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Koch Chapel, 1949 E. Helen St., Tucson, AZ. WANGENSTEEN, William H., passed away on Monday, September 20th, 1999 in Westminster, CO. He was born June 14th, 1968 in Charlottesville, Virginia. He is survived by his mother, Lois (Boo) Wangensteen of Charlottesville, VA; his father, Dr. Stephen L. Wangensteen and stepmother, Lita (Squeaky) of Rembert, S.C.; two brothers, Stephen A. Wangensteen of Richmond, VA, Philip O. Wangensteen (Dana) of Charlottesville, VA; and a sister, Chris Wangensteen-Eklund (Bill) of Tucson, AZ.
Will was the Executive Chef at The Ranch Country Club in Westminster. His true passions were his loving family, his dear friends of which he had many, all animals, cooking and he WAS a master, skiing, and music, particularly The Grateful Dead, The Dave Mathews Band, and Widespread Panic. Will's always smiling face will forever be in our hearts and deeply missed.
The family had a private service up at Loveland Pass in the beautiful mountains of Colorado where Will and his friends used to ski out of bounds under the full moon. There will also be a memorial service on Thursday, September 30th at 4:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Ivy, just outside of Charlottesville.
Contributions may be made in William H. Wangensteen's name to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (S.P.C.A.), P.O. Box 7047, Charlottesville, VA 22906.

WILSON, Marion B., 77, died September 27, 1999. Mother of Julie (Donald) Austin of Tucson and Paula (Larry) Todd of Blythe, CA; grandmother of Marion (Bret) Halley, Lowell Todd, Steven (Courtney) Austin and Timothy Todd; great-grandmother of Andrew and Jacob; sister of Frank (Darlene) Woodward. Marion was a Respiratory Therapist at Little Travers Hospital in Petoskey, MI and at Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. She retired to Tucson in 1981. She is at rest and with her loved ones who have gone before. Burial of cremains will be in Alpena, MI at a later date. Memorial service 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 1999 at BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway. Donations in Marion's memory may be made to TMC Hospice, 5301 E. Grant Rd., T/A 85712.

AGANZA, Eduardo 'Lalo' 74, died September 22, 1999. Survived by wife, Mary Lou; children, Maria Socorro Delgado, Frank Hernandez and Sherry, Ruben Hernandez and Maryann, Andy Hernandez and Cassie, Eddie Daniel and Beatriz, Priscilla Sifuentes; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also many loving friends. A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 1st, 1999.

HENRY RICHARD BREI
August 14, 1935 – September 28, 1999
Henry ('Hank, ' 'Bill') Brei lost his courageous 15 month battle with brain cancer in the comfort and loving arms of his family at home. He will be missed so very much by his wife and best friend of 42 years, Dolores; his children, Joni (Jim), Kurt, Mike (Connie), Lisa (Ron); his beloved granddaughters, Heather, Chelsey, Baylee and Abbey, as well as brothers, Bob (Mary Jo) and Jerry (Pat); and numerous other relatives and dear friends. He was born in Ottawa, IL, and in 1963 he and Dolores moved their family to Tucson where he became active as a Firearm Safety Instructor for young people and belonged to a number of wildlife organizations. He won many awards as a sales representative for American Greetings Corp., and Rothenberg and Schloss. After suffering a brain aneurysm in 1988, he could no longer work, but his desire to be productive was so great, that he became a volunteer for St. Mary's Auxiliary Thrift Shop from 1989-1998, where he was honored as Volunteer of the Month, and worked over 6, 000 hours. Some of his favorite things were camping, hunting, and fishing with family and friends, and trips to Las Vegas with Dolores. In his later years he loved to dote on his granddaughters and became a crossword puzzle 'expert' and quite an artist with his velvet pictures, many of which he donated to various children's organizations. His wit, charm, bravery and amazing sense of humor helped him to endure many illnesses and enabled him to survive until his untimely death with the grace and dignity to which we should all aspire. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 1, in Evergreen cemetery Chapel, 3015 N. Oracle Rd., with burial following. CHURCHMAN, Helen Chapman, 77, of Tucson, passed away on September 27, 1999. She is survived by four sons, Alvin Chapman, Roy (Frances) Chapman, Larry (Juanita) Chapman, Gary (Debbie) Chapman; two daughters, Betty (Jimmy) Allen, Oneta Durazo; one sister, Margaret (Dennis) Rutland; 16 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many other loving family members and friends. A visitation will be held Thursday, September 29, 1999 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY, 5401 S. Park Ave. Graveside services will be Friday, October 1, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements made by SOUTH LAWN MORTUARY.

DODD, Roy E., 91, of Tucson, passed away Saturday, September 25, 1999. He is survived by his sister, Nettie Dodd of Springfield, Ill.. Funeral services, 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 1, 1999 at South Lawn Mortuary Chapel, 5401 S. Park Ave, with burial to follow at South Lawn cemetery. Arrangements by South Lawn Mortuary.

HIEMSTRA, Richard Harold, born August 22, 1922 in Kalamazoo, MI, passed away September 24, 1999 in Tucson. Predeceased by mother, Blanche Hiemstra; father, Jake Hiemstra; brother, Donald Hiemstra; his first wife, Roberta and his stepdaughter, Trudy Marcione. He is survived by his ex-wife and close companion, Helen (Pat) Vinyard Hiemstra; brother, Robert Hiemstra of Tucson; three daughters, Rosalie Cornes of OR, Jerri Abshire of LA, and Linda Oswalt of NC; stepdaughter, Terri Chicko of WA; eight grandchildren; five step grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Richard was a veteran of the US Army Air Force and World War II European Theater. He retired from the United States Postal Service in Tucson. Private memorial service will be conducted.

HUCKINS, Daniel L. E., 65, of Tucson, passed away September 24, 1999. He is survived by his companion, Lois Vendon; daughter, Jennifer Huckins-Ricksecker; sonin-law, Shawn Ricksecker; a son, Neal Huckins (Becky), all of Tucson; two grandchildren; brothers, Thomas (Lois) Huckins of Los Altos, CA, Charles (Tillie) Huckins of Mason Neck, VA. A memorial service will be held Saturday, 4:00 p.m., EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Daniel L. E. LAUFER, Ronald N., 60, died September 28, 1999 in Tucson. Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will be missed by all who knew him. Ronald is survived by his wife, Pat; one son, Richard (Lynnea); two daughters, Joyce (Mark) Chapman and Linda (Rick) McCormick; six grandchildren. preceded in death by his parents and sister. Ronald was a certified Graphologist and teacher. Mass will be offered Saturday, October 2, 1999 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Cyril's Church, 4725 E. Pima. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 1999 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a Vigil at 7:00 p.m. at WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL. Family suggest donations to Arizona Lung Association or the American Diabetes Association. Burial will be at Our Lady of the Desert. Arrangements by WOLFREY PEACE CHAPEL, 5225 E. Speedway, 881-0338.

MALLORY, Floyd Dennis II 'Denny' 29, passed away September 28, 1999. Born October 31, 1969 in Lexington, Kentucky. Son of Kathy and Dennis Mallory; brother of Kelly (Mike) Herrmann and Missy Mallory; uncle of Kelsey and Lindsey Herrmann; many dear friends also survive.
Denny played football at Sabino High School; graduated from the U of A; served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Desert Storm and was most recently a member of the U of A Police Department.
Denny was one of the most loving souls to walk the face of the earth. Everyone who met him loved him and he brought joy to everyone in his life. He will be missed by all who knew him. We are thankful for the brief time we had to share with him.

MCLAUGHLIN, Mary Catherine, 50, died September 27, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Ed; children, Cara, Megan, Eddie, John and Katie of Tucson, as well as her mother, Ruth Kane and sisters, Margie Jung and Eileen Brennan all from San Carlos, CA. Cathy was an inspiration to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, September 30, 1999 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1800 S. Kolb Rd., with visitation from 6:30 until 7:30 p.m., preceding the Rosary at church. Mass will be offered 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 1, 1999 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church with interment to follow at Our Lady of the Desert cemetery. Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

MINER, Blanche C., 95, entered eternal life on September 28, 1999. She was the wife of the late James D. Miner. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Thorell and Patricia Skopp and grandchildren, Kristin and Steven Thorell. Blanche had a successful career as an Elementary School Teacher. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1, 1999 at 10:00 a.m. in the EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY, with interment in East Lawn Palms cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Road. There will be a Rosary vigil and visitation on Thursday, September 30, 1999 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in East Lawn Palms Mortuary.

ALLEY, Robert M., age 52, passed away September 29, 1999. He was a retired Landscape Architect for the City of Tucson and leaves a beautiful legacy of medians, running and walking paths, parks and similar facilities for all Tucsonans to see and enjoy.
Robert was born in Ajo, Arizona in 1946, graduated from Ajo High School, attended the University of Arizona where he received his degree in Landscape Architecture.
He is predeceased by his parents, Frances and Tom Alley. Survived by sisters, Ruth Larsen of Okinawa and Margaret Farrell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Gordon T. Alley of Tucson, Arizona; companion, Glenn Durkin.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, October 4, 1999, 3:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave.

JOSEPH F. CACIOPPO, JR., 94, died September 28, 1999. Husband of Mary Cacioppo; brother of Rose Marino; father of Chuck Young, Liz Martinelli, Arthur Konrad and Edward Konrad; grandfather of Michael-Anne Young, Rob Young, Margaret Eddington, Jim Young, Arthur Konrad, Jr., Barbara Konrad, Karen Konrad and Karl Edward Max Konrad; 10 great-grandchildren also survive. CORDOVA, Amelia Mascarena Vda De, 105 years old, born January 20, 1894, went to eternal rest on September 30, 1999 with all her family at her bedside. She is survived by her daughters, Frances Gonzales, Juanita Linde, Eloisa Duran, Angela Krimple, Maria Quesada, and Elda Pesqueira; son, Tony Cordova. Also survived by 19 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Amelia was a member of St. Margaret's Catholic Church for 61 years. She was also a member of Las Guadalupanas and the Sacred Heart Society. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 01, 1999 from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass will be offered on Saturday, October 02, 1999, 9:00 a.m. at St. Margaret's Church, 801 N. Grande Ave. Interment to follow at Holy Hope cemetery. MARY MARJORIE GARRETSON - Died of natural causes on Tuesday, September 28, 1999 at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Dr. O.K. Garretson. Dr. Garretson was Dean Emeritus at the University of Arizona, and a member of the faculty for 45 years.
Born in Montgomery County, Indiana in 1902, Mrs. Garretson began a long and productive life. After graduating from the University of Illinois in 1925, she began teaching in Clemenceau, Arizona, then a busting mining town, where she met her husband. After Dr. Garretson received his Ph.D. from Columbia University, the family returned to Arizona in 1930, residing on East Fifth Street in Tucson. There, Mrs. Garretson raised her family of three sons, each graduating from the U of A.
Mrs. Garretson was President of the University of Arizona Faculty Women's Club in 1946. She was twice President of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority Alumni Association, Province President in 1950, and a local chapter advisor for many years. Mrs. Garretson was also active in PEO for over 50 years, and served as chapter president for two years. In 1956 Mrs. Garretson joined the St. Luke's Board of Visitors, and assisted with the 38th annual Baile de las Flores at the El Conquistador Hotel. Mrs. Garretson went back to teaching in 1959 at Corbett Elementary School in Tucson. There, she represented the faculty in the Representative Assembly of the Tucson Education Association (1960-61), finally retiring in 1968. During her later years she served as Representative of the Craft Shop for St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson.
At the age of 77 years, Mrs. Garretson was introduced to ballroom dancing by her friend Mary Caldwell. For the next 13 years Mrs. Garretson 'lived to dance'. She traveled and competed in dance contests all over the country, capturing dozens of trophies and awards. It was her dancing she said that gave her exercise, health, happiness, and something to always look forward to in her golden eighties.
Mrs. Garretson is survived by her three sons, Dr. Henry D. Garretson, M.D., PhD., Chairman Emeritus, Department of Neurological Surgery, University of Louisville, John T. Garretson of Smyrna, GA, retired, Walter H. Garretson, attorney, Anchorage, Alaska, and by seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Herman Davis of Cape Coral, Florida.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by ARIZONA MORTUARY, UNIVERSITY CHAPEL, located at 7 E. University Blvd. Mrs. Garretson's ashes will join those of her husband in the Columbarium at St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on October 30, 1999, at St. Philip's.
