GOMEZ, Roderick J. 'Rod' joined our loving Savior in the everlasting life on Tuesday, October 5, 1999, at the age of 47. Born on September 28, 1952 in Morenci, AZ, Rod was raised in Tucson and graduated from Rincon High School. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn J. Gomez of Tucson; two sons, Theo (Melanie) of Tucson and Andre of Grand Rapids; his grandson, Ian of Tucson; and his four siblings, Beverly and Alan (Mary), both of Tucson, Michael of San Diego, and Cindy (Marc) of Seattle. GUERRERO, Mrs. Guadalupe Mendez, a long time resident, passed away Thursday morning at 101 years of age. Mrs. Guerrero was born in Bacoachi, Sonora, Mexico on the 25th of May, 1898. She lived in Sonora until her marriage in 1923 when she moved to Bisbee. In 1962 the family moved to Tucson where she lived until her death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ramon; and three sons, Gilbert, Ramon and Manuel Gustavo. Survivors include three daughters, Mercedes, Margarita (Ernest) Rubi and Guadalupe (Frank) Romero all of Tucson; three sons, Adalberto (Ana), Roberto (Fina) both of Tucson and Javier (Joann) of San Diego. She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 08, 1999 from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, (North Chapel), 204 S. HANSEN, Alta L., 91, of Tucson, died October 6, 1999. Mrs. Hansen was a piano instructor, wife, and homemaker. She was born in Bristol, SD and raised in Salem, SD. She attended Dakota Wesleyan University High School and graduated from South Dakota State College in 1931. She married
Charles Hansen in Elko, Nevada in 1934. Residing in Wells, Nevada, moving to Tucson in the late 40's when Mr. Hansen retired from the S.P. Railroad. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hansen in 1968; two sisters and three brothers, including Harold Rietz of Tucson. Survivors include niece, Linda Harris Williams of Noble, OK; nephew, Chuck Rietz of Charlotte, NC, and other nieces and nephews; cousins, Mildred Rietz of Green Valley and Dorothy Rietz Smith of Sun City West, AZ. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Catalina United Methodist Church Chapel, 2700 E. Mary Elizabeth Hardesty Nee Maffeo - Born August 10, 1913 in Morenci, Arizona to pioneer parents, Dominick (Bisbee) and Marie Power (Prescott) Maffeo.
She attended what is now Arizona State University in Tempe where she was voted Campus Queen, played championship tennis and which awarded her the first 'A' ever given for student teaching. It was at Tempe that she met classmate and son of another pioneer Arizona family, Landon Knox Hardesty (Palo Verde), voted Campus King and one of Arizona's most outstanding athletes.
After graduation, she married
Landon on August 5, 1934 in Phoenix, Arizona. They eventually moved to Tucson where they raised their five children and established Tucson Auto Parts and Equipment Company, which they owned until their retirement to Bullhead City in 1966.
She was predeceased by her parents, by her brother, Joseph Maffeo (Kingman), and in 1999 by Landon.
She is survived by her five children, Ann Howard of Tucson, Lannie Hartman of Tucson, Shorty Howell of Cottonwood, Oot Gourley of Tucson and Steve of Bullhead City; 13 grandchildren, two step grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren; her brother, Michael Maffeo and countless cousins, nieces and nephews.

KENNEY D. WAGONER, age 68, died September 29, 1999. Born in Huntsville, Alabama August 18, 1931. He leaves behind his loving wife, Naidene (Dee). Devoted father of Brenda Becher, Kenneth Wagoner, Stephanie Wagoner and Laurie Wagoner-Cottrell. His brothers, Jack L. Wagoner and Robert Wagoner. His sisters, Annie Lou Spaulding and Daphine Popwell. Ten grandchildren, Russell, Jacob, Daniel, Donald, Jessica, Brooke, Nicholas, Morgan, Amanda and Colton. One great-grandchild, Molly. He was predeceased by cherished daughter, Vallerie Cornelius.
Kenney served proudly for 21 years in the U.S. Air Force and did tours in Korea and Vietnam.
He was a life member of VFW Post 549 and DAV #2. He was also a member of American Legion Post 36 and the Masons Wakarusa Lodge #402 in Topeka, Kansas and the Tucson Lodge of Perfection.

GURNEY DUNHAM, 90, passed away October 6, 1999. He was born in Rosedale, Mississippi, and homesteaded with his family to the Patagonia, AZ area when he was just three years old. He worked many jobs, including in the copper mines, construction and the ship yards of California. He worked in the blinding cold of the Dakotas, and in the hot Arizona sun. He is most remembered for two things; his skill in construction, and his love of travel. He built many a Tucson home, and knew every road in Arizona, and most of them elsewhere. He married
his sweetheart, Hazel Coleman, and had two children, Freddie and Elsie. He is survived by his daughter, Elsie (Lester) Stuckey and her children, Diane (Tom) Riggs, Lynn (Ray) Koch, Dale (Kelli) Stuckey and Ron (Tamara) Stuckey, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is survived by two sisters and two brothers as well as many other family and friends. Many would agree that Laughlin will miss him almost as much as we do. HALL, Sadie May, 62, born March 23, 1937, went to be with the Lord September 30, 1999. Survived by her husband, Edward Hall; five children, Richard, Carl, Donald Steele, Marjorie Alling and Teresa Rhodes; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; six brothers and two sisters. She also had many nieces and nephews. A memorial in Delaware to be held later.
