A resident of Tucson since 1945, she was born in Barlow, Kentucky. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, she was never too busy to offer a helping hand to anyone in need. She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel and son, Thomas. She is survived by her sisters, Maxine Johns of MI and Viola Marshall of Tucson; daughter, Peggy Oden; son-in-law, Charles Oden; former daughter-in-law, Charlene Cox; grandchildren, Sheryl Oden, Randolph (Karen) Oden, Lane (Kimberle) Oden, Belinda Oden (Steve Crooks), all of Tucson and Holly Oden of Scottsdale, Thomas G. Cox, II, Darlinda Wilson, Ranel (Rochelle) Cox, Brett Cox, Samantha (Don) Kellogg; 19 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. We all loved her and will miss her. deSIMONE, Paul, beloved son of Jack and the late, Adele; brother of Diane DeSimone Hamilton and James Hamilton, died suddenly October 11, 1999. He was blessed with a huge, generous heart and intelligence that was a beacon for nurturing all races and people. Paul was a renaissance man with a habit of quoting from many distinguished classics and modern works. He was a lifelong New Yorker, having moved to Tucson, AZ recently. All family members and friends feel the loss of a deeply devoted human being. Services will be private.
GILRAY, Nora Kay, 51, of Tucson, Arizona, was tragically killed on October 2, 1999 in a single car accident enroute to California near Indio. A memorial in honor of her memory will be held 4:00 p.m., Friday, October 15, 1999 at Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch. Friends and relatives are welcome. Memorial contributions may be made to the International Association of Forensic Nurses scholarship fund.
GOUBEAUX, Emanuel B. 'Butch' 75, of Tucson, passed away on October 8, 1999. Survivors include his loving wife of 11 years, Luella; stepson, Richard (Linda) Goubeaux; grandchildren, Ron and Rachel; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Ashley; and sisters, Mary and Donna of Minnesota and Rita and Marjorie of Illinois. His military career with the Army Air Corps started when he was 19, taking him throughout the European African Middle Eastern Theatre, earning him the Silver and Bronze Stars along with the Good Conduct Medal. CLAUDE R. 'RICK' JENNINGS, SR., 50, of Tucson, died October 7, 1999. Survivors include wife, Varrie D. Edwards Jennings of Tucson; five children, Claude R. MARTINJAK, Frank, 83, Lt. Col. U.S. Air Force, Ret., died October 9, 1999. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Marian Martinjak; son, Frank R. (Anne) Martinjak; daughters, Kathryn Martinjak and Patricia (Mark) Dewey; grandsons, F. David and Greg Martinjak; two sisters, Mildred Mehollin and Jeane Ewing and brother, Joe Martinjak. McPHERON, Patricia Ann, born November 2, 1946, completed her journey on this Earth, October 11, 1999. This young, strong willed, loving and compassionate mother, daughter and friend is survived by her six children, Tony Zimprich, Julie Koons, Melinda Shastid, Donald Zimprich, Danielle Famoso, April McPheron; parents, Eugene and Asylda Ross; brothers, sisters, and numerous other relatives and friends. MILLER, Donna Lee, born to Walter and Ann Polston in Chicago, Ill. on July 4, 1944, went to the Mountain Top to be with our Lord on October 12, 1999.
Survived by her loving children, LeayAnne Miller (Clay Hilden), Denny, Scott, and Eric Miller; her brothers, James (Rhonda) Polston and Robert (Clarice) Polston; many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Donna came to Tucson in 1947 and was a graduate of Rincon High School in 1962. She entered the business field in accounting and office management. In the most recent years, she was a foster mom for the Arizona Foster Care Program. She provided loving care for many children. She loved the outdoors, gardening and especially fishing in the White Mountains.
A special thank you to the gracious staff of St. Josephs Hospital and Manor Care Health Services, where she was employed as office manager, for the excellent care they provided her in her final days.

STINSON, Clarence Edward, died on October 10, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. He was born in Norman, Oklahoma on September 20, 1923. After graduating from Tucson High School in 1943, he entered the Army Air Corp during World War II. He moved to the Columbia Basin Project near Pasco, Washington, in 1954, where he farmed until 1997. He was active in the Washington State Potato Commission and the National Farmers Organization. He returned to Tucson in 1997. He is survived by his wife, Fleta; sister, Katherine Morton; brother, Donald Stinson; children, Connie Stinson, Carol Kenmore, Craig Stinson, and Curt Stinson; and eight grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 14, at 1 PM at the East Lawn Palms Mortuary, 5801 E. Grant, Tucson, Arizona.
IRENE TRAYLOR, 73, of Rillito, Arizona, died October 9, 1999. Survivors include husband, Rev. Sam Traylor of Rillito, Arizona; daughter, Beatrice (Roosevelt) Ard of Tucson; sister, Doris Timberlake; grandchildren, Jenise Ard and Lisa (Ed Sandfur, Jr.) of Tucson; great-grandchildren, Gerren Ard, Terrian, E'Lon and Tre Sandfur. RAY FRED VENGELEN

Born March 12, 1915 in Portland, Oregon, died October 7, 1999 in Tucson, Arizona. After 5 1/2 years of fighting oral cancer, Ray lost the battle on October 7th. Born in Portland, Oregon, Ray attended St. Stevens Catholic Grade School, Columbia Preparatory Catholic High School and the University of Portland; graduated in June, 1937. He worked for Tide Water Oil Company in Portland, Oregon and Seattle, Washington until December 8, 1941 when he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served in North Africa as a bombardier on a B-24 Bomber. He was on the low level raid in August, 1943 over Ploesti, Austria. He returned to the U.S. in December, 1943; went to San Diego where he married
Patricia M. DeWaels from Portland and Seattle on January 13, 1943. Pat, serving in the Navy Waves, joined Ray in a long career with the U.S. Air Force until February, 1967, when he was assigned to Vietnam. After his return from Vietnam, he was assigned to the Chief of Staff office at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. From D.C. to Edwards AFB, California where he retired on April 1, 1975, and made haste to Tucson, AZ in 1975, where he had dreamed of retiring after almost 34 years of active duty. Ray is survived by Pat, his wife of almost 56 years; sons, Fred and Ron of Tucson, and Gary of New York; and daughters, Virginia Tyler of California, and Sheila Marshall of Maryland; granddaughters, Elizabeth Sutcliffe, Barbara Vengelen, Alicair Marshall, Juliet Marshall, Randi Vengelen, Bryan Vengelen; and great-granddaughter, Katie Sutcliffe. Ray was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church family, where his wife Pat, is still a member. He shall rest at Our Lady of the Desert Mausoleum. No services were held. VIDETTI, Thomas J., 83, passed away October 10, 1999. Survived by wife, Anna Videtti; daughters, Diana Videtti and Patricia Getch. No services will be held.
WILLINGHAM, Joe Allen, 49, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away October 7, 1999 at Memorial Medical Center after a short bout with cancer. Joe was born August 29, 1950 in Las Cruces, to Charles A. and Aneleh D. Willingham. Joe is survived by his parents; his wife, Maria Velasquez Willingham; and daughters, Caroline, Jessica and Marla, all of Las Cruces; his sister and her husband, Jeannie and Jeff Thompson and their daughter, Aneleh of Las Vegas, Nevada; his brother, Allen Willingham and his daughter, Casey Jean of Tucson, AZ; several aunts, uncles and cousins in Las Cruces, Seattle, WA, Richland, WA and Tucson, AZ. Joe was a graduate of Douglas High School in Douglas, AZ where he was a star quarterback. He received an A.A. degree from Cochise College and attended the University of Arizona. He worked as a chemist for Phelps Dodge Corp. in Douglas. Joe later joined the U.S. Border Patrol and was stationed in Yuma, AZ 13 years. He transferred to the Las Cruces Border Patrol in January 1998.
A memorial service will be held at Graham Mortuary Chapel, 555 West Amador Ave. in Las Cruces at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 16. Interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 5140 West Picacho.

WITZBERGER, Marjorie A., born in Akron, Ohio on February 20, 1913, passed away on October 11, 1999 in Tucson. She is survived by her sister, Nellie Bertsch, residing in Akron, Ohio, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life with her family and friends will be held at her nieces home on Saturday October 16, 1999. For more information call 647-3770. SOFIA L. BEJARANO, 67, a very loving and caring mother, wife, grandmother and friend, went to be with our Lord Sunday, October 10, 1999. Mrs. Bejarano lived in Tucson, Arizona for 40 years and was previously from Santa Ana Sonora Mexico. She was born September 18, 1932 in Magdalena. She was very active in the church and full of laughter.
She is survived by her husband, Joe; one son, Jose Martin (Yvette); one daughter, Ana Cecilia (Richard); brothers, Pancho, Ernesto, Armando, Pepe and Lalo; sisters, Concha Lafaraga and Socorro de Garcia; grandchildren, R.J., Nathan and Matthew Lugo.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jose Lafarga; mother, Concepcion Chavarella Lafarga and sister, Mina Mendez.
Viewing and visitation will be held Thursday from 4:00 to 10:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. at MARTINEZ FUNERAL CHAPELS, 2580 S. 6th Ave.

COLE, Ann Lee Woodward, died peacefully on October 10, 1999. She will be remembered most for her love and devotion to her family. She was born in Santa Ana, Texas on June 3, 1921 to A.C. and Ina Woodward. In 1922 the family moved to Lamesa, Texas. The Woodwards were a prominent West Texas family involved in several diversified businesses, including cattle ranching, farming, real estate and raising thoroughbred horses.
Ann inherited her horsemanship and love of the outdoors from her father who was an avid polo player. She was an excellent rider, competing in barrel racing and other events in the Southwest. She was named Miss Lamesa in 1938.
Her college education began at the University of Southern California and, after a brief interruption during World War II, she earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education from Arizona State University. Ann taught school for sixteen years in the Chandler School District where she lived.
In later years, she and her husband Jim located in Tucson and traveled extensively. Ann received her greatest joy, however, from her daughters, Julie Hecker and Glenda Woodward and her seven grandchildren, Shauna Woodward, Jennifer Hecker, Clint Blackwood, Anastacia Phillips, Ryan Diercks, Annie Phillips and Alexander Hecker. She is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughters and grandchildren.
Ann was an active member of the Mountain Avenue Church of Christ.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 1999 at the Mountain Avenue Church of Christ, 2848 North Mountain Avenue, Tucson, Arizona.
