Milton Lester Hardy was born September 30, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Bernice and Emmett Hardy. Shortly thereafter, his family moved to Oakland, California where he resided for his entire life. Milton grew up in West Oakland where he was a member of the Boys Club of Oakland. He joined the organization more than 55 years ago and remained active with the organization until his death. Throughout his childhood, he played all sports and took a particular interest in baseball. He attended Oakland Public Schools all of his life and attended Oakland Technical and McClymonds high schools. During high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy. As a Seaman Apprentice on the USS Helena, Milton managed the paint locker and assumed various other duties and was well regarded by all of his shipmates. After traveling the world with the navy, he left active duty on honorable release in July 1963 and returned to Oakland. In March 1966, Milton marriage Patricia Ann Brox at Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church in Oakland. As Milt began his career in retail foods with Lucky Stores, he and Pat began their family. They had three daughters: Leslie Samone, Lisa Sabrina and Lillian Sharon. After working more than 30 years and achieving many noteworthy professional goals, Milton returned to school fulfill his goal of obtaining a college degree. In addition to working his typical 60+ hour weeks, he attended school at night and on the weekends. In 1999, he graduated from Vista College with his Associate in Arts degree in Liberal Arts. After working nearly 40 years, most notably for Lucky Stores and later Albertsons, Milton retired in 2000 as Senior Vice President of Operations for Northern California. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing golf, gardening, vacationing with his wife and performing as a member of a gospel quartet called "Stigmata". He also took great pride in being a handyman and spent a substantial amount of his time improving and maintaining his properties. His most enjoyable moments were spent spoiling his three grandchildren. Pushing them in "Gampa’s" tree swing, taking pictures at their holiday parades and school plays and setting up the holiday train and toy extravaganza were just some of the many precious and joyous moments he dedicated to his grandchildren. Milton was always a leader and served in many positions within community organizations and church. Milton worked hard, played hard and most of all loved hard. Those who knew Milton knew him for his eager and genuine smile, for his strong yet kind spirit and for his love and loyalty for those he loved and cared for. He was a man of strong conviction, integrity and honest character. His love of family and friends showed no bounds. Milton passed away Saturday January 29, 2005. He is survived by his wife of 39 years Patricia, his three daughters: Leslie Hardy Hood, Lisa Hardy Reams and Lillian Hardy and his grandchildren: Morgan LeAnn Hardy Patterson, Michaela Lauren Hardy Reams and Tipkins Milton Hood and son-in-laws: Tipkins Hood, Jr. and Michael R. Reams. He also leaves five brothers: Emmett Hardy, Jr., Joseph Hardy, Val Ross, Gregory Ross and Jerome Ross and four sisters: Alderlean Watson, Vernida Talton, Sharon Hughes and Amber Hardy Thornton. He will be missed by a host of other relatives and friends.
James C. Booth
October 19 1940 - January 26 2005
Booth, James C. 65, of Hayward, California, died on January 26, 2005. Born on October 19, 1939 in San Jose, California. Forklift mechanic for Cromer Equipment. Jim, known as "Grumpy," was an avid motorsport participant from the late 1950's up until the time of his death. He was a regular on the Nascar short track circuit for a number of years as well as being a Baylands stock car champion. He was past president of the Northern California Modified Association as well as influential in starting the Wingless Spec Sprint divison at Antioch Speedway. He was a generous man who was loved and respected by all. He was preceded in death by his wife of many years, Mary L. Booth. He is survived by his brother Donald Booth and wife Christine, sister Susan Hopwood and husband Jeff, children Christine Webb and husband Randy, Carrie Roth and husband Doug, Casey Sears and wife Mary, Tammy Fernandes and long-time love Glenn Carson, step-daughter Chris tine Schwark. Brother-in-law to Kathy Flores, Roy Calhoun, Mark Calhoun and Annette Cabe, close friend of Don and Linda O'Keefe. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear friends and his beloved race car, number 72. A private memorial service will be held for family and close friends.

Albert Edward Noble, Jr. a Hayward resident entered into rest Wednesday, July 25, 2001 in Hayward. Born in the Philippines on November 25, 1910, he was 90 years of age.
Loving father of Teleia Goddard of Hayward and Barbara Herrick of San Jose. Dear brother of Edith Harris of Hawaii and Guy Noble of Hayward. Devoted grandfather of four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Albert enjoyed gardening and traveling. He was retired WWll veteran and a retired Deputy Sheriff for Alameda County.

PERRY, VERNARD V. Entered into rest February 2, 2005 in Elk Grove, California at the age of 86 years. Born March 11, 1918 in Montana. Survived by his wife Jean Perry, children Marsha Joseph and Tina Perry, one brother Donald Perry, and one sister Clevia Welliver. Also survived by grandchildren Suzanne, Julie, Joseph, and Steven, great-grandchildren Jacob, Sidney, Skylar and Colin. Preceded in death by his first wife Barbara Perry. Mr. Perry was a member of the Elks Lodge #2103, Moose Lodge #255, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He was a veteran of WWII at the Battle of the Bulge. He also enjoyed fishing. Friends are invited to a visitation on Sunday, February 6, 2005 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm and funeral services on Monday, February 7, at 10:00 am at SUNSET LAWN CHAPEL OF THE CHIMES 4701 Marysville Blvd. Sacramento. Herbert Bonner Towler

Herbert Bonner Towler, beloved husband of Janet Hughes Towler, loving father of Susan Towler Long and her husband Bill and the late Edward Hughes Towler. Adoring grandfather of Crista Long Gilkey and her husband Ryan and Brett Matthew Long. Great-grandfather of Katelyn Nicole Gilkey. He also leaves a sister, Marjorie Towler Witt and her husband Douglas and a sister-in-law, Barbara Hughes Spangler and her husband Jim and seven nieces and nephews.
Herb was born in Berkeley and was a graduate of University High School in Oakland. He received his B. S. degree from the University of California in 1944. He is a member of the Sigma Phi Fraternity. He was Drum Major of the Cal Band and was one of the three Founders of the Cal Alumni Band.
Herb was an Insurance Broker in Oakland for 39 years before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Montclair Lions Club, the Bohemian Club of San Francisco, Grandfathers Club and St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Berkeley.
He loved music, travel, golf and spending summers at Lake Tahoe. He cherished his family, his many friends and enjoyed life to the fullest.
Memorial Services will be held at St. Clements Episcopal Church, 2837 Claremont Blvd. Berkeley on Saturday, February 12 at 2:00PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial in his memory may be sent to the Cal Band, 72 Cesar Chavez MC 4280, Berkeley, CA 94720-4280 or any charity of your choice.
William "Bill" Fyfe
April 21 1924 - February 2 2005
William (Bill) Fyfe, 80, died peacefully in his sleep at home on February 2, 2005. Pop was greatly loved by his family consisting of : Wife of 56 years, Doris Fyfe, who dearly cared for him through many years of his illness. Daughter, Linda Loggins, and Son-in–law, Bob Loggins, Grandchildren: Brenda Loggins, Annie Loggins, Matt and Jennifer Loggins, Stephanie and Scott Navas, and Becky Loggins, Great Grandchildren: Connor, Bobbi Ann and Madeline Loggins. Daughter, Nancy Hannigan, and friend Ben Ward, Grandchildren: Sean and Emily Hannigan. Son, John Fyfe, and Daughter-in- law Cheryl Fyfe, Grandchildren: David and Callen Fyfe. Son, James Fyfe, and friend Elaine Yeh, Son, David (Barney) Fyfe, and friend Kathleen Truitt.
Bill served his Country, Community and Church for 60+ years receiving much recognition, awards and two California State Resolutions. Bill was very proud to be an alumni of the University of California, Berkeley receiving AB in Criminology and MA in Education-Administration (Go Bears). For 29 years, Bill was a teacher, coach and an administrator in San Lorenzo Unified School District where he was awarded a Life Membership in the San Lorenzo Council of PTA. .
Bill’s civic activities included: CYO: Past President of the Alameda County League, coached basketball, baseball, and a CCD teacher at St. Felicitas . Past President and coach of Washington Manor Jr. Baseball League as well as the past President of the Washington Manor Home Owners Association. Bill was also the Lieutenant of the San Leandro Police Department’s Reserve Program for 14 yrs.
Member of American Legion for 35 yrs. Retired as COL US Army Reserve after 32 years of service including WW2 duty on a destroyer in the South Pacific and duty as Military Police during Korean conflict, Graduate of the US Army Command and General Staff College.
Visitation will be at St. Felicitas Church on Tuesday, February 8, 2005 from 4 PM to 5 PM. A Vigil service will follow at 5 PM. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, February 10, 2005 at 9:30 AM at St. Felicitas Catholic Church, 1662 Manor Blvd., San Leandro. Followed by refreshments.

Len Hail died peacefully at home on July 28, 2001 in Discovery Bay, California. He was born on August 7, 1927 at home, the seventh of ten children, in Shamrock, Texas.
He is lovingly survived by his wife and constant companion of 56 years, Shirlee, his devoted children Nancy & George Price of Discovery Bay, Bob and Donna Hail of Montara, Larry and Suzette Hail of Brentwood, California. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren, Kathy, Cheryl, Julie, Michael, Christy, Lindsey and seven dear great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Bertie, Bea and Dora, and his brother, Billy all of Bakersfield, California. In addition, he is survived by many nieces, nephews and friends, especially numerous friends in Pacifica, California. He is preceded in death by his son, Gary, sisters Pat and Ola Mae and brothers, Bill, Jack and Porter.

MARY SCHMALL FORE, born on July 10, 1912 in Fresno, California died July 29, 2001 in Hayward, California. She was a resident of Fremont, California for 39 years after leaving Fresno, California. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Otis Arthur Fore in March 2001.
She is survived by a three sons, Gerald Fore and Keith Fore of Fremont, California and Clark Fore of Oregon. She has two daughters, Paula Kay Payne of Sparks, Nevada and Shirley Ann King of Fremont, California. She also leaves behind a brother, Harry Schmall of Yuba City, California. She has 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Receiving his Doctorate in Jurisprudence and going into private practice in 1976. He was currently retired. Survived by his wife Sandra, sons Joseph and Porter, daughter-in-laws Katrina and Tanya, grandsons Joey, Tyler and Nicholas, granddaughter Brittney and sister Doris Isabella Rapp. Memorial gathering will be held at Lafayette Reservoir (Dock 2) in Lafayette, CA on Sunday, February 20th from 12-3pm. Lloyd Herbert Cooke

Lloyd was born on July 2, 1917 to Herbert and Mary Ellen Cooke and departed this life on July 26, 2001 at age 84. He had resided at Vintage Estates Convalescent Hospital for some time.
Mr. Cooke attended schools in Tucson, Arizona and Oakland, California. As a young man he worked on the rail road bridge across the Great Salt Lake. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War. He belonged to the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. He retired from Southern Pacific Railroad after 35 years of service. He has lived in Alameda County for over 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Frances Cooke of Hayward; sons, Lyle Cooke of Hayward and Paul and his wife, Judy Cooke of Richmond; daughter, Julia and husband, Ken Orr of Milpitas; four grandchildren, Deanna Orr, Debbie Pintacura, Dawn Dinga and Daniel Orr and six great-grandchildren. We will all miss him dearly!!!
