Barbara J. Heeney of Fremont, entered into rest Monday, August 27, 2001. Beloved wife for 53 years to Dan F. Heeney of Fremont. Loving mother to Debbie Heeney-Crenshaw of Antioch and Ed Heeney of Oakdale. Devoted grandmother to Andrew and Ryan Crenshaw and Allan and Jeremy Heeney. Dear aunt to 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
Born in Oakland on April 15, 1925, age 76 years. A homemaker for 53 years. Longtime member for 64 years with the International Order of the Rainbow for girls where she served as a Grand Deputy, member of Order of the Eastern Star, Orient Chapter and Rebeccas of Fremont. Barbara enjoyed traveling.

Visitation will be Friday, 9:00 AM, with the Funeral Service starting at 11:00 AM, at FREMONT CHAPEL OF THE ROSES, 1940 Peralta Blvd. Interment will follow at Chapel of the Chimes Cemetery in Hayward. Donations are requested to American Lung Association, 295 27th Street, Oakland, CA 94612.

Lester Rine Livick
August 12 1921 - August 24 2001

Lester Rine Livick a San Leandro resident entered into rest Friday, August 24, 2001 in San Leandro. Born in Stanton, Virginia on August 12, 1921, he was 80 years of age. Lester was a carpenter for 50 years and part of the Union. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Foreign Wars. He was an inventor and published in the “Who’s Who” magazine for inventors. He also wrote a children’s book. He enjoyed working in his wood workshop and making toys for handicapped children. Lester loved to garden and feed the birds at parks.
Dearly beloved husband of Evelyn Livick. Loving stepfather of Linda Sullivan of Marysville and Wayne Mathis of Ceres. Dear brother of Allen Livick of Manchester, Virginia. Devoted grandfather of two grandchildren.

Friends are welcome to attend a Memorial service Sunday, September 2, 2001 at 9:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of San Leandro; 890 Fargo Ave., San Leandro, CA 94579.

Willie Jean Brooke
February 9 1938 - August 22 2001

Willie Jean Brooke, also known as “Billie” to those who knew her, 63 passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at her home in Fremont, California. She was born on February 9, 1938 in Stigler, Oklahoma. She has been a resident of Fremont, California for 60 years.
She is survived by her beloved mother, Emogene Phillips of Hayward, California. She leaves her four loving daughters, Althea Crozier, Tracy Brooke, Dawn Brooke and Emogene Peterson all of Fremont, California. She also leaves her loving son, Dennis Brooke of Fremont, California. She has seven dear sisters, Edna Garcia, Linda Dominguez, Cathy Hayes, Donna Catlick, Sandy Phillips, Betty Garcia and Judy Wright. He four dear brothers, Richard, David, Randy and James Phillips. She also leaves behind 16 wonderful grandchildren, Gwen and Jennifer Crozier, Regina Buchanan, Samantha, Wade and James Brooke, Jr., Brook, Helen, Michelle and Michael Peterson, Jr., Gus, Ashley and Charles “Chuck” Boukis, Octavia Brooke, Sarah Dupree and Willie Brooke and 1 beautiful great-grandchild, William Buchanan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Charles Brooke, Sr. on November 8, 1994 and son, Charles Brooke, Jr. on October 4, 1991 and son, James Brooke on June 30, 1991 and her father, Willie James Phillips.

Family and Friends are invited to attend a Visitation on Monday, August 27, 2001 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home. Margaret J. Bowen
August 26 1911 - September 1 2001

Margaret Bowen a Fremont resident of 34 years entered into rest on Saturday, September 1, 2001. She was a native of Glasgo, Scotland, 90 years of age born on August 26, 1911.
She was a graduate of Healds College. Employed for 19 years with the City of Alameda as a purchasing agent. Secretary of Fremont AARP Chapter 748. Secretary of Christian Endeavor of Alameda County. Active member of Fremont Senior Center.

Margaret is survived by her dearly beloved husband of 68 years Mr. George K. Bowen of Fremont . Loving mother of Ronald Bowen & wife Jerri of Fremont. Devoted grandmother of two grandchildren; John Bowen & wife Kathy of Rancho Murieta, Ca. and Mark Bowen of San Francisco, Ca.

Joseph Richard Payette
February 18 1920 - September 6 2001

Joseph Payette, an employee for the Nabisco Company for 30 years, died of pneumonia at Summit Medical Center in Oakland. He was 81.
The native of Lowell, Massachusetts lived in Oakland since 1952 before he and his family moved from Central Falls, Rhode Island to California.

He served in the US Army/Air Force.

He was a member of Nabisco local union 125; volunteer with St. Vincent De Paul's organization for 10 years picking up and distributing items to assist others; Leathercraft artist.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Payette; sons, James Payette of San Ramon, David Payette of Roseville; sister Elizabeth of Central Falls, Rhode Island; brother, Raymond Payette of Central Falls, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Greg Payette of Alamo, Janine Appleford of Sacramento, Meredith Payette of Roseville; great grandchildren, Mikayla and Justin Payette.

There will be a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, 4499 Piedmont Ave. 9:00 a.m. funeral Wednesday at St. Lawrence O'Toole Church in Oakland. Burial will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Organizations with the Catholic Church Services Organization.

Genoveva Carmen Gallardo
January 2 1917 - September 9 2001

Genoveva C. Gallardo (Nanay), passed away peacefully on September 9, 2001 at the age of 84. She was born on January 2, 1917 in the Philippines. She came to the U.S. in 1970. A longtime resident of Union City. She was a member of the Union City Senior Assoc. and St. Anne’s Senior Filipino Group. The dearly beloved wife of Cecilio E. Gallardo who died during WWII. The loving mother of Erlinda and her husband, Gene Ambrosio and Manuel and his wife, Ching Villena. Adored grandmother to Gina, Joel, Mike, Cindy and Marvin and his wife, Cherry de Castro. Adored great grandmother to CJ, Michael, Gabriel and Crystal. She is also survived by brothers, Lorenzo of Honolulu and Fabian of the Philippines, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who will miss her. Auntie Bebs to many nieces and nephews, Manang Bebang to several cousins. A friend to many, she touched so many lives because of her radiant personality.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, September 12, 2001 from 5 to 8:00PM and Thursday, September 13, 2001 from 4 to 8:00PM in the Mission Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544, where a vigil service will be held at 7:30PM. A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:00AM, Friday, September 14, 2001 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 32223 Cabello St., Union City, CA 94587. Interment will follow in Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Hayward, CA.

October 5 1911 - September 7 2001

Nina Marie Page, a 21 year resident of San Ramon passed away Friday, September 7, 2001 due to a 1½ year illness. She was 89. Nina was born in Kansas City, Missouri on October 5, 1911. The most important things in her life was her family, beloved pets Curly, Prince, Cissy and Starr and her friends. Beloved mother of Ronald Page of Pleasanton, Sherry Page, Sharon Page, James Page and Gertie Bowman all of San Ramon. John Bowman of Awanee, the late James Bowman of Alamo and adopted son Bruce Porter of Santa Rosa. Loving grandmother and great grandmother. She will be forever in the hearts of her family and friends.

Agnes E. Cabral, 99 passed away on Wednesday, September 5, 2001 at Redwood Convalescent Hospital in Castro Valley, California. She was born on October 28, 1900 in Hilo, Hawaii. She was a resident of San Leandro, California for 40 years and prior from Oakland, California for 53 years, a total of 93 years in the Bay Area. She was a Homemaker for 62 years.
She is was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tony Cabral and her daughter, Hazel Stevens, 3 sisters, 8 brothers and a grandchild. She is survived by her loving daughter, Lorraine Hathcox of Dublin, California. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren.

Carrie worked for Mervyns distribution centers in Hayward/Fremont for 24 years. An Avid collector of butterfly momentos and stamps. She was very devoted to her family, grandchildren and mother.

John Francis Brossard, a resident of Hayward for 44 years, entered into rest at St. Rose Hospital in Hayward on Wednesday, September 5, 2001. He was born in Hayward on March 2, 1957 he was 44 years of age. John was employed for 20 years at Alameda Naval Air as a Mechanist/Tool and Die, for the past five years he worked at Contec Decanter Inc.. John loved the races as well as building and fabricating race cars and hot rods. John also enjoyed model airplanes. John lived his entire life in Hayward, John and Kathy were marriage 14 years. John not only adored his grandchildren and step children, he also adored his loving wife and was a loving husband and stepfather.
He is survive by his wife, Kathleen Jean Brossard of Hayward. His mother, Doris Jean Brossard of West Point, CA. Stepchildren, Susan Rodgers of Sacramento, Annette Harless of Milwaukee, OR and Christopher Harless and his wife, Angelina of Oakley. Brother of Ellen Deuel and her husband Denny of West Point, Bridget Bjorndal and her husband, Rich of Concord and Pat Brossard and his wife, Rose of Livermore. Grandchildren, Christal Harless, Dakota Harless, Zackery Rodgers, Christopher Harless and Matthew Harless. Nieces and Nephews; Cynthia Bennington, Kristine Bjorndals, Ricky Bjorndal, Terry Brossard, Tony Brossard and Devin Deuel. John was preceded in death by his father, John Patrick Brossard.

Mildred resided in Niles and Castro Valley, 10 years in each. She worked as a Machinist for 25 years at Singer Business Machines in San Leandro. She also worked as a Machinist during WWII a total of 40 years. Her favorite things in life were children and cats. Her nickname from her grandkids was “Gramma Kitties”. She loved to play games with her grandkids. She would always let them make up their own rules and would always win.
Loving mother of Susan Glenn of Union City and James Norman of Pleasanton. Dear sister of Corine Fuller of Kansas, Ruby Dale of Indiana, Marie McKim of Kansas and Robert Jennings of Kansas. Devoted grandmother of five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
