Jim Smith, 84, a lifetime resident of Alameda County, and a resident of San Lorenzo, entered into rest in Pleasanton on Saturday, June 1, 2002. He was born in San Jose on January 1, 1918 and was raised in Oakland. He was a self-employed meat distributor for 40 years. A longtime member of Hope Lutheran and Grace Lutheran Church.
His loving children, Judy Richards of Castro Valley and Jim Smith and his wife, Vicki of Pleasanton, survive him. Dear brother of Gene Smith of San Leandro. Caring grandfather of Sean, Melissa, Kevin, Ryan, Heather, Earon and Brandon and great grandchildren, Brittany, Veronica and Morgan.
His wife, Lenore in 1998 and his daughters, Sharon Goode and Eileen Poyhonen and his son-in-law, Ron Richards, preceded him in death. Three brothers and one sister also preceded him in death.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Wednesday, June 5, 2002 in the Reflection Chapel of Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home, 32992 Mission Blvd., Hayward, CA 94544. Interment will be private in Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park, Hayward.

Inez A. Earl, a resident of Fremont for 19 years, entered into rest in Fremont on Friday, May, 31, 2002. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 11, 1920. She was 82 years of age. Inez enjoyed gardening, bingo and music. She retired after 21 years of employment from United Can Company.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane M. Dibble and her husband, Russell of Livermore, Cynthia Earl of Ceres and Kenneth Earl and his wife, Linda of Nashville, Tennessee. Dear sister of Ethel Becker of St. Louis, MO. The caring grandmother of Anita, Kenneth, Stephen, Brian, Katherine, Kevin and Timothy and seven great grand children.

William F. Masters a Fremont, California resident entered into rest Wednesday, May 29, 2002 in Fremont. Born in French Camp, CA on December 12, 1925, he was 76 years of age. He enjoyed gardening, horse racing and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He was a Compounder for 20 years at Raychem Company.
Loving father of Kathleen Masters of Stockton, Susan Archuleta of Hayward and Bill Masters of Fremont, CA. Devoted grandfather of three grandchildren.

HARRY LEWIS WILCOX 87, passed away at Vintage Estates Skilled Care Center in Hayward, California on Wednesday, May 29, 2002. He was born on May 9, 1915 to Harry Beecher and Della (Butters) Wilcox in East Smithfield, Pennsylvania. He has been a resident of Hayward, California for 43 years. Harry retired from RanRob Company in Oakland, California in 1984 as a Machinist. Harry was a member of the International Association of Machinist, Lodge #1518 in Oakland, California. Prior to his illness, Harry was an active bowler on various Senior Leagues at the Holiday Lanes in Hayward, California. Harry had an annual garden of vegetables and he and his family and many friends enjoyed the fruits of his labor.
Harry is survived by Louise, his loving wife of 64 years, his loving son Roy Wilcox and wife Sharon of Vestal, New York; loving daughter, Sharon Hale of Sacramento, California; loving son Alfred Wilcox and wife Yvonne of Petaluma, California; loving daughter Barbara Conley and husband David of Castro Valley, California; and loving daughter Ellen Wilcox of Auburn, Washington; seven loving grandchildren, two loving great-grandsons; three sisters, Nora Raynor of Athens, Pennsylvania; Myrtle Wilkinson and Alberta Hewitt of Sayre, Pennsylvania. Harry was preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Russell Wilcox of Hayward, his parents, Harry and Della Wilcox of Athens, Pennsylvania and brothers; Fred, Claude, Homer, Gilbert, Francis and Grant and sisters Martha Chambers and Della Cornish.

C. J. Pierson a Fremont, California resident entered into rest Saturday, May 25, 2002 in Fremont. Born in Canton, South Dakota on November 10, 1913, he was 88 years of age. He is survived by his loving granddaughter, her husband and two sons: Kathy and Bill Tomblin, Billy and Matthew Tomblin all of Fremont. He was a retired salesman of fleet and industrial auto sales for General Motors after 24 years. He served in the U. S. Air Force during WWII as a Sergeant. He enjoyed working on his own cars. In his earlier years he would go motorcycle riding and he liked RV Camping.
His wife Blanch “Irene” Pierson preceded him in death after 62 years of marriage.
A private Burial will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Memorial Park.

He loved bowling, golfing, race horses and baseball. He played semi-pro baseball. He also was on the Ameiature Circuit and bowled a 300 game during league. He was a vast collector of guitar’s.

ELLEN E. PERRY, 82 passed away at Majestic Pines Care Center in Hayward, California on Friday, May 24, 2002. She was born to Carl and Eva Rankin in Chester, Arkansas on February 1, 1920. She has been a resident of Fremont, California for 15 years; she was an Alameda County resident a total of 37 years. Ellen was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She attended high school in Susanville, California. She became an LVN and was only able to have that career for a very short time until her husband became ill and she had to take care of him before he passed away. She did welding jobs on military ships during WWII in her earlier years. He was a homemaker for a total of 56 years. She lived with and took care of her companion of 13 years, Bob Alennon before he passed away in January of 2001.
Her parents, Eva and Carl Rankin, preceded Ellen in death. She was also preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Johnny T. Perry on December 29, 1984 also by her longtime companion of 13 years, Bob Alennon in January of 2001. Ellen is survived by her loving daughter and her husband, Victoria E. and James A. Pica of Fremont, California. Her loving son, John Perry of Fremont, California, survives her. She was a dear sister to Vada Beckett of Ada, Oklahoma. She was a loving and proud grandmother of two grandchildren; Jason S. Sanders and Samantha L. Pica both of Fremont, California.

ELMER J. HABERMAN, 79 passed away on Friday, May 24, 2002 at Evergreen Health Care Center in Castro Valley, California. He was born to Jack & Marie Haberman on November 19, 1922 in Fresno, California. He has been a resident of San Lorenzo, California for 55 years. Elmer served in the U.S. Navy for 30 years and retired as AMHC after having served in the WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association #10 of San Leandro, California. Elmer was also a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church of San Lorenzo, California. He worked as the Alameda Naval Air Station in Oakland and retired from National Air Motive. He was a Machinist and Medallist for 50 years. Elmer was loved by many and will be missed by more.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents Jack & Marie Haberman and his brother, Edward Haberman. His three loving sons, Richard & Diane Haberman of Old Orchard Beach, Maine, Donald & Lydia Haberman of Lathrop, California and Wayne Haberman of San Leandro, California, survive Elmer. He was a proud a loving grandfather of two grandchildren, Julianne Haberman of Providence, Rhode Island and Haley Haberman of Fayetteville, Arkansas.

Her beloved brother, Kainoa Eccleston of Union City, California, also survives her. She also leaves behind her great-grandparents, Paternal – James and Mary Eccleston of Modesto, California and Maternal – Jesse Reyna of Modesto, California. MAYNARD WAYNE JENNINGS, 89 entered into rest on Sunday, May 19, 2002 at his home in Dayton, Nevada. He was born on February 23, 1913 in White Lake, South Dakota. He was a resident of Dayton, Nevada for the past six years and a prior resident of Hayward, California for 47 years. He was an active member of Mt. Eden Presbyterian Church of Hayward for 30 years; he held many church offices and served as an Elder in the church. He owned and operated a local grocery store in Hayward, California for 47 years before retiring. He loved square dancing and bowling.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Ruth “Judy” Jennings of Dayton, Nevada. His loving daughter, Sandra Filippini of Hayward, California, also survives him. He was a loving grandfather to his granddaughter, Lenay Foster of Escalon, California. His two brothers, Lewis Floyd and Dale Blaine Jennings, preceded him in death.
