Helen Bury
DOWNEY - Services were held Monday, July 7, at the Miller-Mies Mortuary Chapel in Downey for Helen Bury, the organist for the Christian Science Church on Fifth Street for more than 40 years, who died July 3 in Brea.
She was 94, born in England, Jan. 16, 1903, and lived in Downey 40 years.
She came to California 60 years ago.
She had no surviving relatives.
Jeanette Furtsch officiated.
Burial followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
Arrangements were by the Halverson-Luce Mortuary.
Veta Nadine Cazin
DOWNEY - Funeral services were held July 9 at the Downey Zrelak Mortuary Chapel for Veta Nadine Cazin, a resident of Downey for 19 years, who died July 3 in Downey Community Hospital.
She was 74, born in Pittsburg, Kansas, and worked as a salesperson for 19 years for the Harris & Frank Company.
She was a former resident of Norwalk.
Survivors include her husband, Al T. Cazin; her son, Ronald Wagner of Salt Lake City; a daughter, Pamela Crutchfield of Coweta, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Fr. John Moloney officiated.
Burial followed at the Riverside National Cemetery.
Lucille Pauline Biggs
DOWNEY - Graveside services and burial were held July 8 at Riverside National Cemetery for Lucille Pauline Biggs, a resident of Downey for 26 years, who died July 2 in Downey Community Hospital.
She was 74, a former resident of Bell Gardens, and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold in 1990, and her daughter, Naomi Jean Biggs in 1988.
Survivors include her children, Richard Biggs of Orange; Harold Biggs, Jr., of Downey; Paulette Havlak of San Angelo, Texas; Anna Redfield of Downey; Noma Jacques of Whittier; her sister, Wilma Hemphill of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were by the Downey Zrelak Family Mortuary.
Paul August Wilcke
DOWNEY - Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, at the chapel of Miller-Mies Mortuary for Paul August Wilcke, a Downey resident for 56 years and a former design engineer for Superene Feeds, who died July 3.
He was 91, born in Germany, and was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife, Lydia; a son, Bob; a granddaughter, Kirsten; and a great-granddaughter, Nicole.
Pastor John Rose offiated.
Burial followed at Rose Hills Memorial Park.
Arrangements were by Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
Marguerite M. Fragoso
SOUTH GATE - Private funeral services were held for Marguerite M. Fragoso, 85, of South Gate, who died July 4.
She was born in St. Louis, Missouri, was a member of the Catholic Church, and was a nun for 35 years in St. Louis.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, George Pentelute.
Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
Bennie Aguilar
DOWNEY - Services were held July 6 at St. Dominic Savio Church for Bennie Aguilar, a resident of Downey for 79 years, who died at his home June 30.
He was 79, born in Downey, and was a former employee of L.A. Screw Products.
He was a member of St. Dominic Savio Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Aguilar.
Father Leo officiated. Burial followed at Park Lawn Memorial Park in Commerce.
Arrangements were by the Miller-Mies-Mortuary of Downey.
Mark J. Wellenstein
SEATTLE, Washington-Funeral services were held in Seattle, Washington, on Jan. 26 for Mark J. Wellenstein, a former Downey resident who died June 20 in Philadelphia.
He was 23, and attended St. Mark's Episcopal School, East Middle School, and Downey High before moving to Seattle.
On graduation from high school, he joined the Marines, where he attained the rank of Sergeant, leaving after four years to attend university in Philadelphia.
Survivors include his father, Carl of Downey; his mother, Jane and a sister, Kristin, both of Seattle.

Richard Dayss
DOWNEY - Services will be held in Manchester, Michigan, for Richard Dayss, a resident of Downey for 40 years, who died at Downey Community Hospital July 1.
He was 68, born in Michigan.
Survivors include his sisters, Ruth McGraw, Bertha Miller, Hilda Arnold, Cora Iwonichi and Elsa Vogel; and brothers Robert Dayss, Leonard Dayss and Willard Dayss.
Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester, Michigan.
Arrangements are by the Miller-Mies Mortuary of Downey.
