Died peacefully in San Rafael on March 4, 2003. Beloved daughter of the late Edward and Madge Colbert. Born February 9, 1916, in San Francisco, she enjoyed the last several years as a resident of Nazareth House. Anne attended St. Agnes Grammar School, Presentation Academy and San Francisco State. She was employed by the State Compensation Insurance Fund for almost 40 years, retiring in 1980 as a senior underwriter. She was very active in the California State Employees Assn., St. Agnes Parish Council and the Nazareth House Auxiliary. Anne is survived by many friends and family; treasured cousin Madge M. Moran of San Rafael; Laise and Bill Jacobson and daughters Amanda and Claire of San Anselmo, George Moran and Chris Epton of West Hollywood, Herb and Brigitte Moran and children Monique, Liza and Tommy and great great nephew Lucq of San Rafael, Vincent and Christina Lindsay and children Alexandria and David of Fair Oaks, cherished friends Jessie Chico of Berkeley, John Michaelson of San Francisco and Annick Davantes of San Rafael. Julie Kelly
Died at her Novato home on March 3, 2003 after battling cancer for the past six months. Mrs. Kelly died peacefully with her family at her side. Julie was born in Toronto, Canada and later moved to Vancouver B.C. In 1967 her family moved to Marin where she met her future husband Jim. She was a student at College of Marin while Jim was an Airman stationed at Hamilton Air Force Base. Mrs. Kelly lived her entire adult life in Marin. She was an avid gardener and loved the outdoors. She operated a childcare business in her Novato home for many years, caring for many young Novato children who are now adults. She spent the last 17 years as a customer service representative for Amica Mutual Insurance Co. in San Rafael and Petaluma. Julie is survived by her husband of 33 years, San Rafael Police Lieutenant Jim Kelly, a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Kate Kelly of Sebastopol, CA, a son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Heather Kelly of Austin, TX, a daughter Sheila Kelly of Chico, CA and a brother Jeremy Maggs of Rohnert Park, CA. Patrick Alan Kolsky
Age 18, of Novato, died March 4, 2003 in his dorm room at Chico, CA. He was with his love, Joanne and his roommate, Chris at the time. His death was sudden and at this point in time inexplicable. Survivors include his parents, Alan and Linda Kolsky of Novato, his sister Lauren, and his grandparents Frances and Harwood Kolsky and Patricia Cagwin. He leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Those who knew Patrick knew of his passion for computers. He realized his love as a computer science major at Chico State, a staff writer for Team X Box and two happy years during high school as an Autodesk intern. He is deeply missed by his family and friends. A Mass will be held Saturday, March 8th at 12:30 p.m. at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato. Friends are invited to gather at Patrick's house after the church services.

Died in Petaluma, CA on February 27, 2003 at the age of 67. Devoted husband of Marilyn M. Lee of Petaluma. Loving father of Russell J. Lee and his wife Sybille of Munich, Germany and Eric D. Roger Eugene McClain

Roger passed away at home in Novato on March 2, 2003 at the age of 55. He spent his entire life in Marin County; born in San Rafael he graduated from Novato High School in 1967. Roger was a retired cameraman for Marin Sun Printing. His hobbies included golfing, shooting pool, collecting baseball cards and beanie babies. He was a member of the Novato Elks Lodge #2655. Roger will be missed by his wife Shelly; daughter Valerie; many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene, mother Daphna and brother Dale. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday March 8, 2003 at the Novato Elks Lodge, 7078 Redwood Blvd., Novato, CA 897-2655. Kenneth Edison Pell
Born on February 9, 1915 and passed away on March 3, 2003 after a brief illness. Lt. Col. (Retired) Kenneth E. Pell resided in Belvedere, Marin County, CA, for more than 30 years. He retired from the US Army at the Presidio in San Francisco in 1968. A 32 year veteran in the regular Army, Mr. Pell served in North Africa and fought in Italy during WWII. He also fought in Korea. After the Korean police action, he became a Ranger and a Master Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. His motivation for earning his wings after many years in the artillery corps was, "why walk to work when you can fly." Mr. Pell served six years with the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers in Europe (NATO) located in Versailles, France. During his years of service, he was awarded the Silver Star, two Bronze Stars, and three Purple Hearts, as well as other United States, Italian, and Korean service medals. After retiring from the Army, Mr. Pell worked as a US Treasury agent and taught at several Bay Area colleges. Mr. Pell was born in Seattle, WA and grew up in Medina on Lake Washington, which instilled in him a lifelong love of sailing. He earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington in Seattle. Later he obtained a Master of Science and a Master's degree in Aerospace Operations from UC Berkeley. Mr. Pell is survived by his wife of 12 years, Helen McGuinness Pell; two daughters; a granddaughter and two grandsons. Mr. Pell was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church and the San Francisco Yacht Club, both in Belvedere. Mr. Pell's life will be celebrated with a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM Friday, March 7, at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 3 Bayview Ave., Belvedere followed by a reception at the San Francisco Yacht Club. Robert Michael Rasmussen
Passed away peacefully at his home in Novato on March 3, 2003 at the age of 59. Born and raised in San Francisco, Bob attended Lowell High School and City College. Bob served as a member of the San Francisco Police Department for 19 years until his retirement in 1988. Bob was a loving husband, devoted father and grandfather. His wife Denise, his sons Bob Jr. and his wife Kelly; Brian and his wife Shelby; and his daughter Jennifer survive him. He doted on his grandchildren, Sawyer, Emillie and Carson. He leaves behind his brother Jim and was preceded in death by his sister Nancy. He will be terribly missed by his mother-in-law, Jean McKevitt, as well as his brothers and sister-in-law, Ed, Bryan and Diane McKevitt. Passed away peacefully in San Rafael, CA on March 1, 2003 after a long illness. Born in New York City, March 31,1918, "Eddie" enjoyed a long, well recognized career as a Los Angeles County Probation Officer. Throughout his adult years, he actively pursued his varied interests in literature, music, opera, biblical studies and his special fascination with word games. Eddie is survived by his wife of 57 years, Edith, his daughter Rachelle Owen, his sons Mark and Daniel Riesenfeld, his son-in-law Stewart Owen, his daughters-in-law Andrea Riesenfeld and Caren Grown and his five grandsons Jeremy, David, Josh, Travis and Loren. Private Services were held in his honor at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery. Patricia Travis Heaney
Pat died February 25, 2003 in Novato, California with her daughter, Christine Minhondo and her grandsons at her side. She was born in Los Angeles, California on September 12, 1923 the daughter of the late Gladys and Paul Travis. She was raised in both Los Angeles and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was a graduate of St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana and obtained her High School Teacher's credential from Immaculate Heart College, Hollywood, California. In 1947 she was marriage to Richard Heaney who died in 1986. She is survived by four children and their spouses, Paul and Lucy Heaney of Rio Vista, California, Catherine and Richard Huettemann of Flower Mound, Texas, Christine and Roger Minhondo (owner of Chalet Basque Restaurant, in San Rafael) of Novato, California and Matthew and Karen Heaney of Ballwin, Missouri; and grandchildren, Travis, KC, Danny and JP Heaney, Pierre, David and Patrick Minhondo and Jason and Heather Hill. She is also survived by her brother and his wife, Tom and Anne Travis and her sister, Suzanne Heidelman and their families. After Dick's death, Pat moved to Northern California to be close to her daughters and grandchildren. She was dedicated to the education of young people and as she and Dick moved throughout the country due to his career in the Brewing Industry, she taught in California, New Jersey, Florida, Virginia and Wisconsin. Memorial Mass will be held at our Lady of Loretto Church, Novato on Saturday, March 8th at 10:30 a.m. with a Memorial Reception to follow at Chalet Basque Restaurant in San Rafael. Harry Holland
Died peacefully at home, on March 3, 2003, at the age of 73. Harry leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Merry and two dogs, Punkin and Pixie. Harry was the loving father of Jerremy and his wife Anna, and a loving grandfather to their two children, Zachary and Emily. Harry was a native Californian who devoted his life as an advocate for the education of children. He served in Marin County, as an elementary school teacher, an elementary school principal for 24 years, and as a member of the San Rafael City Schools Board of Education for 11 years. Private services will be held for the family. The family requests that no flowers be sent. Lincoln William McIntosh
Lincoln W. McIntosh, 80, died at Kaiser Hospital in San Rafael after a battle with lung cancer. Lincoln was a resident of Terra Linda for 48 years and a member of the Odd Fellows. He loved to sit outside his home and greet his neighbors and was a dedicated father to his children. He was retired after working nearly 30 years for Abbott Laboratories. He is survived by his four children, Marguerite Kelstrom, of Petaluma, Tom Kelstrom of San Rafael, Jeff McIntosh of Novato, and Doug McIntosh of Terra Linda. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Jason Kelstrom of Corte Madera, Gretchen Kelstrom of Sebastopol, Michael, Sean, Paul, and Nicole McIntosh and Tila and Franco Franca of Novato. He also leaves two sisters Ruth Ogle and Mrs. Alvin Pate and a brother Neely McIntosh in North Carolina and his good friend Elmina Orlandi of San Francisco. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 7th at 11 a.m. at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery on 5th Avenue in San Rafael. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or your favorite charity.
Daniel Stanley Otremba
Born January 24, 1943 in Lackawanna, N.Y.; Daniel attended Mount Carmel College High School in Niagara Falls, Ontario in 1957, at the age of fourteen to study to become a priest. He graduated with honors in 1963. He left the Seminary shortly thereafter. At the age of 22, he moved to California and resided in Woodacre California with his devoted partner of 38 years, Richard Partridge, until his death of a heart attack in Reno, Nevada on February 24th, 2003. He is survived by his mother, Tessie Otremba, brother, Ronald Otremba, nephew, Jeffrey Otremba, and nephew, Christopher Otremba. A Mass by Father John C. Fogarty, a priest and close friend of Mr. Otremba's who taught him in the Seminary, will be held at Saint Mary's Church in the town square of Nicasio, CA at 2 PM on Saturday, March 8th. All friends are welcome. Return to his home in Woodacre for refreshments after the Service.
