Kathleen "Katie" R. Pierce
Of Sausalito died peacefully at home on July 5, 2002 at the age of 48, after a seven year battle with breast cancer. In loving memory of Katie, we request that each person perform a loving act of kindness. For that is how Katie will always be remembered as performing a loving act of kindness. Since childhood Katie always felt that people should care more for each other and the world we live in. She was always there to help a friend in need. If they weren't friends to begin with, they were when they parted. She was the sister who hid her candy so when yours was gone she could share hers; if crying she would make you laugh; if sad she always had a hug and kind word. We miss her desperately and though she is with us in spirit, it sure would be nice to hear her laughter, and hug her again. We love you Katie. Patti, Maureen, Jimmy and Peggy

Robert Gajdusek "Robin"
Passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 26, 2003. He was 78 years old. His sons Karl and Mark, his brother Carlton and a collection of amazing and dear friends survive him. He had just returned from Paris where: "I was lyrical and absurd, hysterical and playful and probably a lot less measured than I should have been?" Robin was a poet, scholar, and a teacher: Professor Emeritus at SFSU, guest lecturer around the world, and driving force and inspiration to the many students whose imaginations he awoke. He was a published author of numerous books on Hemingway, collections of his poetry and short stories, and reflections on his experience as a soldier in France during World War II. He leaves behind nine volumes of poetry which were his daily rejoicing at being alive. He had both the contemplative soul of the observer and the passionate voice of an artist. Anyone who knew Robin understood that his greatest accomplishment cannot be cataloged. He lived with a deep-felt need for understanding, a rejection of the mediocre in all things, and ferocity of joy. He was a pure inspiration to the thousands of lives he touched. "O bird, O holy white bird! Would I have survived without those wings descending?" A private Graveside Funeral will be held at the Bolinas Cemetery on Saturday, July 5th. A Memorial will be arranged followed by a Gathering at Robin's home on Saturday, July 19th in the afternoon. Flowers may be sent to his home at 137 Granada Drive, Corte Madera, CA 94925. And later moved to Tiburon and cared for her mother for many years, until her mother's death. Marian later provided childcare services for several children in Marin County. Aunt Marian was the one who always remembered birthdays with a card or a letter and was greatly appreciated for the fabulous goodie boxes she put together for all the holidays. The boxes were filled with beautifully decorated homemade cookies, and with books, toys, and useful gadgets, as well as with special family mementos, which she passed down to family members. Her family, friends and neighbors will miss her articulate and intelligent conversations with them, and her sharing of newspaper clippings or articles of specific interest to each recipient. She enjoyed plants and gardening, and always had birdseed and water available for any wild birds stopping by in her yard. She continually amazed friends with her ability to identify many birds by sight as well as by their songs. It was important to Marian to support charitable groups on behalf of children, veterans, and the elderly. Her family extends a heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the Marin Convalescent Hospital in Tiburon for their loving care of both Marian and of the family; and also to Marian's special, loving friends.
