Mary Bellamy, 74

ESCONDIDO - Mary Ellen Bellamy, 74, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Escondido.

Born Sept. 25, 1925, in Cincinnati, she lived in Escondido for five years. She was a nursing assistant before retiring and a member of the Assembly of God Church.

Mrs. Bellamy is survived by her sons, Doug Bellamy of El Cajon and Richard Bellamy of Escondido; daughters Mary E. Porth of Escondido and JoAnn Madden of Cincinnati; sisters May Stultz and Shirley Woods, both of Cincinnati; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, followed by a funeral service at 1 p.m. interment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park after the service.

Maria Perez, 26

OCEANSIDE - Maria Del Pilar Bruno Perez, 26, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born Oct. 12, 1973, in Mexico City, she lived in Oceanside for 10 years. She was a member of the Iglesia de Cristo Final.

Ms. Perez is survived by her companion, Luis Aguilar of Oceanside; mother Julia Perez of Oceanside; father Guillermo Bruno of Mexico; daughters Angelica Bruno Perez and Melanie Aguilar Bruno, both of Oceanside; three brothers, all of Mexico City; and sisters Rosalba Bruno Perez of Oceanside and four sisters of Mexico City.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Rafael E. Cabrera of the Iglesia De Christo Llamada Final Church officiating. Burial will follow.

Doreen Reekie, 72

SAN MARCOS - Doreen Reekie, 72, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2000, at her home.

Born Nov. 2, 1927, in Los Angeles, she lived in San Marcos for 38 years. She was a homemaker for 50 years.

Mrs. Reekie is survived by her husband of 11 years, John Reekie of San Marcos; and son Gary Wells of Mill Valley.

A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

Theodore Mildner, 78

CARLSBAD - Theodore J. Mildner, 78, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Encinitas.

Born June 7, 1921, in Circle, Mont., he lived in Carlsbad for 21 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal and Victory Medal WW II.

Mr. Mildner was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Mildner, in 1991; and his son, Robert Marc Mildner, in 1971, a Vietnam victim. He is survived by his son, Richard Mildner of Encinitas; daughters and sons-in-law Kathleen and Steve Emmert of Carlsbad and Ruth and Tim Braun of Murrieta; sister Helen E. Mildner of Carlsbad; and four grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 2, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. Entombment will take place Wednesday, Feb. 2, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice.

Eternal Hills Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Marie Light, 75

OCEANSIDE - Marie E. Light, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at her home.

Born April 3, 1924, in Chicago, she lived in Oceanside for 15 years. She was a retired accountant.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. Burial will take place at a later date.

Oceanside Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Donna Heath, 55

ESCONDIDO - Donna Jean Heath, 55, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000, in Escondido.

Born July 24, 1944, in Los Angeles, she lived in Escondido for 53 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Heath is survived by her husband of 36 years, Jim Heath of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Brian Heath of Escondido, Marc and Julie Heath of Temecula and Kurt and Maggie Heath of Fort Lewis, Wash.; brother Harold Hughes of Escondido; sisters Sharon Jacobsen of Riverside and Georgia Schulz of San Marcos; grandchildren Tamar, Tori, Matthew, Sarah and Shawn; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Visitation and a funeral service were held Tuesday, Feb. 1, at Cathedral of the Valley in Escondido. Burial followed at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice.

Ingrid Carmichael, 47

SAN MARCOS - Ingrid "Ing" Carmichael, 47, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, of cancer, at her home.

Born Oct. 13, 1952, in Ontario, Canada, she lived in San Marcos for more than 25 years. She worked for Pacific Bell for 26 years before retiring.

Mrs. Carmichael was preceded in death by her father, Walter Schroeter. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, James A. Carmichael of San Marcos; mother Erna Schroeter; and sons Leon G. Cleveland and Benjamin R. Cleveland, both of San Marcos.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, at the Optimist Club building in Walnut Grove Park in San Marcos. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, Suite 100, San Diego, CA 92128.

Don Bird, 78

SAN DIEGO - Don Bird, 78, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at San Diego Hospice.

Born July 16, 1921, in Detroit, he lived in San Diego for 14 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a chief torpedoman submarine service aboard the USS Spadefish, earning the Presidential Unit Citation and Submarine Combat Insignia. He served aboard the USS Sirago doing intelligence gathering in the Arctic Circle area. He was an instructor on the shore-based USS Tambor and supported seaplane operations on the USS Guavina. He attended Special Weapons School in Key West, Fla. and served as a special weapons and torpedo instructor on the USS Dentuda. He retired in 1962 from military service and worked for the Civil Service Naval Ordinance Unit until retiring in 1973.

Mr. Bird is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Ellen Bird of San Diego; daughters Mary Catherine Reinhardt of Poway and Donna Geralyn Flynt of Escondido; brother John Arthur Bird of Highland Park, Mich.; grandchildren Martha Levine, Jennifer Lynn and Catherine Louise Reinhardt, Mette Christine and Gregory Byron Flynt; and great-granddaughter Megan Hardt Levine.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 7, at San Rafael Parish in Rancho Bernardo. Burial at sea is planned with full military honors.

The family suggests memorial donations to San Diego Hospice, 4311 Third Ave., San Diego, CA 92103; or the American Cancer Society, 1320 W. Valley Parkway, Suite 302, Escondido, CA 92029.

El Nita Niebergall, 79

SAN MARCOS - El Nita Jane Niebergall, 79, died Friday, Jan. 28, 2000.

Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Los Angeles, she lived in San Marcos. She was a homemaker, a secretary and a member of the Escondido Women's Club.

Mrs. Niebergall is survived by her husband, Elbert A. Niebergall; parents El Nita and Frank Lewis; son Herbert Niebergall and Edward Niebergall; sister May Bell Stires; and grandchildren Taylor, Shane and Lisa.

No services are planned. A private cremation is planned with Burial of the ashes at sea at noon Friday, Feb. 4.

Cecelio Diaz, 74

ESCONDIDO - Cecelio Terlaje Diaz, 74, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.

Born Nov. 18, 1925, in Agana, Guam, he lived in Escondido for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War, the Cuban blockade and the Vietnam War, retiring after 26 years and receiving a Bronze Star. He did facilities maintenance for General Dynamics for 10 years and was a lifetime member of the U.S. Submarine Veterans of World War II.

Mr. Diaz is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joan B. Diaz of Escondido; sons Richard Diaz of Fillmore, Douglas Diaz and Mike Diaz, both of El Cajon, Kevin Jose of Sacramento, Alan Diaz of Arkansas and John Diaz of Escondido; daughters Janis Diaz, Diane Leyba and Patrice Diaz, all of Escondido, and Francine Diaz of San Diego; brothers Natividad Unpingco of La Mesa, Augustine Diaz of Carson, Vicente Diaz and Atanacio Diaz, both of Guam, and Gabriel Diaz of Elk Grove; sisters Margarita Fejarang of Washington and Doroteo Diaz of Colton; 25 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at McLeod Mortuary, Escondido Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Robert Yanez, 77

RAMONA - Robert Manuel Yanez, 77, died Sunday, Jan. 30, 2000, in Escondido.

Born June 15, 1922, in Los Angeles, he lived in Ramona for two years. He was a leadman for Mcdonnell-Douglas, retiring after 34 years. He was a member of the Knight's of Columbus in Orange County and served as a seaman in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Mr. Yanez is survived by his wife of 57 years, Nellie M. Yanez of Ramona; sons and daughters-in-law Robert A. and Julie Yanez of Ramona and Jerry P. and Maryanne Yanez of Los Angeles; brothers and sisters-in-law Billy and Linda Yanez of Bakersfield, Tony and Jackie Yanez of Santa Monica and Gilbert Yanez of Los Angeles; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 4, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A graveside service and interment will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Nuevo Memory Gardens in Ramona, with the Rev. John Champion officiating.

Stella Volpe, 86

MURRIETA - Stella M. Volpe, 86, died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2000, of lymphoma, in Murrieta.

Born Feb. 22, 1913, in New York City, she lived in Murrieta for 11 years. She was a dress fitter for Rubin & Benfrato for 10 years.

Mrs. Volpe is survived by her husband of 62 years, Thomas M. Volpe of Murrieta; daughters Josephine A. Chase of Sunland, Maria M. Bednorski of Hamilton, Mont., and Margaret M. Irwin of Palm Desert; brother Joseph Marco of New Jersey; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 3, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Murrieta, with the Rev. Tom Wallace officiating. interment will take place at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

Martha Purdy, 79

SAN DIEGO - Martha Ruth Purdy, 79, died Friday, Jan. 11, 2000, in a San Diego hospice.

Born Sept. 6, 1920, in Greeley, Colo., she lived in Encinitas for 48 years. She was a member of the Encinitas Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons.

Ms. Purdy is survived by her brothers, Joe Kepler of Duncan, Okla., and Sam Kepler of Arlington, Texas; sisters Mary Beth Kepler of Kansas City, Mo., Vinta Cox of Irving, Texas and Frankie McCalip of Burneyville, Okla.; and nephews Robert Jones of Frisco, Texas, and John Jones of Dallas.

A memorial service was held.

Encinitas Mortuary handled arrangements.
