RANCHO BERNARDO - Geraldine Roberts Greer, 82, died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in Rancho Bernardo.
Born Aug. 26, 1918, in Bakersfield, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 25 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Greer was preceded in death by her husband, Gen. Robert H. Greer, in February 1976. She is survived by her sons, Gery Ruddick of Austin, Texas, Robert Greer of Corpus Christi, Texas, and James Greer of Rancho Bernardo; brother and sister-in-law Charles and Virginia Bonesteel of Boston and Robert Ruddick of Austin, Texas; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
All services are private.

Boris Geeza, 77
ESCONDIDO - Boris T. Geeza, 77, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, at his home.
Born Nov. 18, 1923, in Portage, Pa., he lived in Escondido for 12 years. He was a bishop for the Orthodox Church in the Diocese of Chicago. He served as a CDR Chaplain in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1975, doing duty in Vietnam.
Mr. Geeza is survived by his son, Boris Geeza of Long Grove, Ill.; daughter Helena Jakubovich of Milwaukee; brother Ralph Geeza of Upper Montclair, N.J.; sister Vera Veg of Rancho Bernardo; and two grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, Jan. 3, at St. John of Damascus Orthodox Church. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Jan. 4, at the church, with the Rev. Alexander Federoff officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

John Di Mercurio, 79
OCEANSIDE - John Di Mercurio, 79, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Oceanside.
Born June 2, 1921, in Detroit, he lived in Oceanside for 10 years.
Mr. Di Mercurio is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Lisa Di Mercurio of Riverside and David P. and Peggy Sue Di Mercurio of Oceanside; daughters Michaelene Bedros of Redlands, Mary Amato of Warren, Mich., and Barbara Lynn Di Mercurio of Newport Beach; brother and sister-in-law Sam and Lou Di Mercurio of St. Clare Shores, Mich.; and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., today, Jan. 4, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church of Carlsbad. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the church. interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

William Wilson, 69
ESCONDIDO - William R. Wilson, 69, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home.
Born June 9, 1931, in Zamesville, Ohio, he lived in Escondido for 14 years. He served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, doing duty in Vietnam and retiring as a colonel in 1984 after 30 years. He was a member of Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido, serving as a choir member.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his son, William R. Wilson II, in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat Wilson of Escondido; daughters Jeri Wilson Lassiter of Centreville, Va., Rhonda Dias of Jeffersonton, Va., and Stephanie Wilson of Fremont; and grandchildren T.J. Lassiter, Sherri and Alex Dias and Ryan and Elyse Waldeck.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 4, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Henry Wilson officiating. Burial will take place at a date to be arranged at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia, with full military honors.

J. Lowell Gallagher, 90
ESCONDIDO - J. Lowell Gallagher, 90, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Pomerado Villas.
Born Dec. 29, 1910, in Jersey City, N.J., he lived in Escondido for 12 years. He worked for Louis Dreyfus Corp. before retiring in 1974. He was a life member of the Elks Lodge in Escondido and Red Bank, N.J.
Mr. Gallagher was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Gallagher, in 1981. He is survived by his companion of six years, Evelyn Montie of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law James Gallagher and Marjorie Isoolick, both of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Michael Callahan of Shelton, Conn.; sisters Doris Gallagher and Eleanor Curran, both of Jersey City; and five grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Town & Country Clubhouse in Escondido, with the Rev. Richard Huls officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Mary Brennan, 78
ESCONDIDO - Mary Rita Brennan, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Sept. 21, 1922, in Staten Island, N.Y., she lived in San Diego County for 35 years. She was a sales associate for Mervyn's for 15 years.
Mrs. Brennan was preceded in death by her son, Bruce Brennan. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Joseph Brennan of Escondido; son John J. Brennan of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Marianne and Patrick Minihane of Escondido; sisters Rose Keegan of Escondido and Tess Borgstede of Staten Island; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m., today, Jan. 4, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service will take place at a date to be announced at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Francisco Astorga, 84
OCEANSIDE - Francisco "Butterfly" Astorga, 84, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, from complication of pneumonia, in Vista.
Born Dec. 24, 1919, in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, Mexico, he lived in Oceanside. He did road maintenance for civil service at Camp Pendleton for 40 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater.
Mr. Astorga was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Astorga, in 1984. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. Alfredo and Della Astorga and Joe and Barbara Astorga, all of Vista, Frank Astorga of San Marcos and Manuel Astorga and Fernando Astorga, both of Oceanside; foster daughters Monique Thompson and Connie Lasoya and families, all of Vista; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at the mortuary. interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Constanza Mejia, 70, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Feb. 17, 1930, in Tecate, Mexico, she lived in Escondido for seven years. She was a homemaker for 50 years.
Ms. Mejia was preceded in death by her brother, Victor Lopez. She is survived by her sons, Hector Mejia of Palm Desert and Alexander Mejia of Sun City; daughter Constanza Mejia Snyder of Temecula; brothers Gabriel Martinez of Tijuana, Mexico and Lazaro Francisco Martinez of El Cajon; sisters Leonore Lopez-Castro of Lemon Grove and Maria Irma Martinez-Ortiz of Dallas; grandchildren Anthony M. Achimasi, Theodore L. Achimasi, Stephen A. Snyder, Angel L. Mejia, Krystal M. Mejia, Alexander C. Mejia, Audreyann D. Mejia and Alyssa L. Mejia; and great-grandchildren Jonathan Gullo, Kimberly A. Achimasi and Christian A. Mejia.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, with the Rev. James E. Rafferty officiating. interment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Jacqueline Jean Long, 63, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Palomar Continuing Care in Escondido.
Born Jan. 11, 1937, in Milwaukee, she lived in Escondido for 1 1/2 years. She was a graphic artist for Minuteman Press and enjoyed the arts, including painting.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Long, in 1996. She is survived by her son, Clayton L. Esch of Milwaukee; daughter Kimberly J. Esch of Escondido; and other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6, at Wisconsin Memorial Family Center in Milwaukee.

SUN CITY - Louis McClain Winters, 91, died Saturday, Dec. 30, 2000, from complications of diabetes, at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Born Aug. 28, 1909, in Montpelier, Idaho, he lived in Sun City for 22 years. He was a career development specialist for the U.S. Air Force in Washington, D.C., for 26 years and enjoyed genealogy and gardening.
Mr. Winters is survived by his daughter, Barbara Winters of Studio City; son Louis Winters Jr. of Riverside; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon Friday, Jan. 5, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Sun City. A funeral service will follow at noon at the mortuary, with Bishop Tom Bloom officiating. Burial will take place at Montpelier City Cemetery in Idaho.

Born Aug. 2, 1913, in Fort Worth, Texas, she lived in Sun City for six years. She was an author for Fred Jodan Mission in Los Angeles for 50 years.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband, Ray Snyder of Sun City; daughters Rajean Miller of Houston and Mary Perkins of Anaheim; sister Lois Etheridge of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 4.

Mrs. Duron is survived by her husband of 28 years, Daniel Duron of Temecula; daughters Andrea Barochiere of Murrieta and Sara Duron of Temecula; brothers Carlos Marquez of Covina, Tony Marquez of Fullerton and John Marquez of Temecula; and sisters Virginia Marquez and Alice Sullivan-Meyer, both of Temecula, and Jeannie Sanchez of San Bernardino.
A Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Temecula. A private inurnment is planned.

SUN CITY - Virginia V. Rorick, 81, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at Morning Mist Country Villa in Moreno Valley.
Born March 6, 1919, in Detroit, she lived in Sun City for 12 years. She was a librarian for the county of Los Angeles for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling, collecting teddy bears and loved cats. She was a member of Crime Watch in Sun City and a member of the Church of Religious Science.
Mrs. Rorick was preceded in death by her sister, Eva Mae Friend. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles Rorick of Sun City; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Gary Eppler of Norco and Marge and Marlin Head of Rancho Mirage; sons Michael Rorick of Hayward, Rick Rorick of Santa Ana and Steven and Linda Rorick of Artesia; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two nieces and nephews.
No service will be held at the request of the deceased.

Born April 2, 1932, in Iona, Minn., she lived in Escondido for 22 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Escondido.
Mrs. Spencer was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Spencer, in 1991. She is survived by her sons, Robert L. Spencer of Yakima, David Spencer of San Diego, Paul Spencer of Englewood, Colo., and Mike Spencer of San Diego; daughters Peggy Spencer and Cindy Keen, both of Silverdale, Wash., and Mary Beth Spencer of Oakland; brothers Ted Gaasch of Rancho Bernardo and Pete Gaasch and Dan Gaasch, both of Minneapolis; sister Kathy Denny of Lapeer, Mich.; and many grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Church of the Resurrection in Escondido. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, at the church, with the Rev. Charles Fuld officiating. A private family interment will take place Monday, Jan. 8, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Douglas Mordick, 52
ESCONDIDO - Douglas B. Mordick, 52, died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, at his home.
Born July 8, 1948, in Manhattan, Kan., he lived in Escondido for 22 years. He was a construction superintendent for Collins General Contractors and worked at San Onofre Power Plant for 10 years. He served in the U.S. Army 101st Airborne in Vietnam from 1968 to 1970. He was a 1966 graduate of Poway High School and a member of Lakeside Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Mordick is survived by his wife of 19 years, Jean Allgaier of Escondido; mother and father, Mildred and William Mordick of Poway; son Jason Mordick of Escondido; daughters Deana Mordick and Michele Mordick, both of Escondido; brother William Gregory Mordick of Spokane, Wash.; and sister Susan Baran of Chattaroy, Wash.
A memorial service will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 7, at 1620 Easter Place in Escondido, with Bill Downing officiating. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
