TARPON SPRINGS, Fla. - Thelma Edna Goodrich, 92, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at Helen Elles Memorial Hospital in Florida.
Born Aug. 19, 1908, in Pittson, Pa., she lived in Lake San Marcos for 15 years.
Mrs. Goodrich is survived by her sons, Sheldon Goodrich of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Clark Goodrich Jr. of Seffner, Fla.; daughters Thelma Lois Goodson of Clearwater, Fla., and Ruth Goodrich Honour of Carlsbad; sister Mildred Bates of Tampa, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
Frederick Carlson, 76
PALM SPRINGS - Frederick "Swede" Carlson Jr., 76, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, at Palm Springs Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.
Born Oct. 1, 1924, in Richmond, Ohio, he lived in Palm Springs for 12 years and previously lived in Vista for 25 years. He was a general contractor and owner of Carlson Construction in Vista for 25 years and co-owner of El Rancho Lodge in Palm Springs for 12 years. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Carlson was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Ruthe Frances Carlson, on Nov. 15, 2000. He is survived by his son, Rick Carlson of Palm Springs; and grandchildren Jamie and Skylar Carlson of Vista.

Erma Benesh, 84
ESCONDIDO - Erma Benesh, 84, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2001, in Escondido.
Born March 26, 1916, in Frankemuth, Mich., she lived in Escondido for 45 years. She was a self-employed business manager for healthcare before retiring and served as past president of the Escondido Garden Club and was an accredited flower judge.
Mrs. Benesh is survived by her husband of 65 years, Gerald Benesh of Escondido; daughters and son-in-law Barbara A. and Lee A. Hieronymus of Jamul and Christine L. Edmunds of Fallbrook; sisters Elsie Mathieson of Fairview Park, Ohio, and Rose Siegel of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Jason A. Fuller, 30, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 10, 1970, in San Diego, he lived in Escondido for his entire life. He was a laborer for Fox Plumbing and enjoyed target practice at a rifle range.
Mr. Fuller is survived by his friend, Scott Petri of Escondido; mother Faye Lachance of Escondido; father Allan Fuller of Escondido; grandmothers Madge Dilbeck of Chula Vista and Margaret Peale of Santee; sister Heather Fuller of Escondido; and nephew Chase Fuller of Escondido.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Burial will follow at 2 p.m.

SAN MARCOS - Ruth Mildred Gilardi, 75, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born June 2, 1925, in Rhode Island, she lived in San Marcos for 17 years.
Mrs. Gilardi is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, John Gilardi of Shelter Cove and Richard and Pam Gilardi of Carlsbad; brother William Hudson of Pawtucket, R.I.; grandchildren Regina Gilardi of Savannah, Ga., Michael Gilardi of Grass Valley and Joseph Gilardi of Las Vegas; and great-grandchildren Ashley Bucher, Bradley Bucher, Summer Perkins, Julian Gilardi and Alexander Gilardi.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with the Rev. Don Watson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, with the Rev. Watson officiating.

VISTA - Francisca G. Saldana, 95, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at her home in Vista.
Born Sept. 1, 1906, in Durango, Mexico, she lived in Vista for 65 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Saldana was preceded in death by her husband, Elias Saldana; and sons Henry Saldana and Esequiel Saldana. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, David and Pearl Saldana of El Cajon, Joe and Margaret Saldana of Vista, Manuel and Carmen Saldana of Escondido, Robert and Ana Saldana of Oceanside and Juanita Saldana of Colton; daughters and sons-in-law Rose Martinez and Ethel and Joe Franco, all of Vista, and Cathy and James Fields of Oceanside; 24 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

FALLBROOK - Lela Mae Zagnoni, 78, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Fallbrook.
Born Feb. 16, 1922, in Centralia, Ill., she lived in Fallbrook for four years. She was a homemaker for more than 50 years and was a member of the Broadway United Methodist Church in Rockford, Ill., and the Fallbrook United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Zagnoni was preceded in death by her husband, Steve C. Zagnoni, in 1987. She is survived by her son, Paul Zagnoni of Phoenix; daughter Stephanie Berl of Fallbrook; brother Edward Lee Hatfield of Cottage Hills, Ill.; sister Dorothy Meyer of Franklin Grove, Ill.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at a date to be determined at Broadway United Methodist Church in Rockford. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Rockford.

ESCONDIDO - Denise Lee Johnson, 40, died Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2001, in Escondido.
Born May 4, 1960, in San Diego, she lived in Escondido for 40 years. She was a caregiver for North County Council on Aging and graduated from Escondido High School in 1978.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her father, Richard Lee, in 2000. She is survived by her husband, David Johnson of Escondido; mother Viola Lee of Escondido; stepdaughters Megan and Melisa Johnson; brothers Greg and Cobie Tucker, both of Escondido; sisters Carla Lee of Escondido and Dinah and Candido Villalobos, both of Julian; nieces Greta Tucker and Melanie Tucker, both of Escondido and Addie Villalobos and Katie Villalobos, both of Julian; and nephews Kenny Tucker, Frankie Barrera and Arnie Tucker, all of Escondido and Vance Villalobos and Evan Villalobos, both of Julian.

FALLBROOK - Eva Katherine Bartlett, 80, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, in Fallbrook.
Born May 18, 1920, in Chicago, she lived in Fallbrook for 22 years. She was a bookkeeper for Lucky's supermarket for 10 years and was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, advisor to the International Order of Rainbow Girls and Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Bartlett is survived by her husband of 60 years, Forrest N. Bartlett of Fallbrook; son Robert Bartlett of Fallbrook; daughter Phyllis Terry of Fallbrook; sister Adah Serio of Los Angeles; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, at Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary, with the Order of the Eastern Star officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

Esther Condry, 89
CARLSBAD - Esther Helen Condry, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Jan. 30, 1911, in Stuart, Neb., she lived in San Diego County for 25 years. She was a special education teacher for the Los Angeles County School District. She graduated from Wayne University in Detroit, Mich., and was a tutor for boat people and immigrants. She taught in the Panama Canal Zone from 1939 to 1941 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mrs. Condry was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Condry, in 1991. She is survived by her brother, Leo J. Krziza and Quentin "Chris" Krziza, both of Carlsbad; and sister Ruth Hall of Florida.
A private service will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Lois Stevens, 90
RIVERSIDE - Lois V. Stevens, 90, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at a Riverside convalescent hospital.
Born Aug. 15, 1910, in the rural area of Cleveland, Okla., she lived in Ramona since the 1930s. She worked for the Ramona Water District from the 1930s to the 1950s and as a court clerk for the San Diego County court system for 20 years. She was a member of the Ramona First Baptist Church and a volunteer for the Ramona Senior Center. She enjoyed taking trips with the seniors.
Mrs. Stevens was preceded in death by her husband, John "Johnny" Stevens, on Nov. 14, 1982. She is survived by her sister, Hazel Robison of Riverside; and many nieces and nephews, including Ray Robison of Riverside.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Nuevo Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Gary Bassham of the Ramona First Baptist Church officiating. She will be buried next to her husband.

SAN MARCOS - Monte Rae Calhoon, 70, died Friday, Jan. 12, 2001, at his home.
Born April 30, 1930, in Hays, Kan., he lived in San Marcos and had lived in Escondido and Los Angeles. He worked in real estate sales for the past 35 years.
Mr. Calhoon was preceded in death by his son, Douglas Calhoon, in January 1995. He is survived by his daughter, Karen Calhoon of Santa Cruz; sons Michael Calhoon of Valley Center, David Calhoon of New Braunfels, Texas; sister Gayle Shannon of Penrose, Colo.; brothers Joseph Calhoon and Ernest Calhoon, both of Hemet; and five grandchildren.

Born April 25, 1983, in Escondido, he lived in Valley Center for 17 years. He was a student.
David was preceded in death by his uncle, Ralph Garcia, in 2000. MENIFEE - Mary Eileen Hicks, 81, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, of pneumonia, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born June 27, 1919, in England, she lived in Menifee for seven years. She was a homemaker for 53 years and a member of St. Michael's Church of Tucson, Ariz., and a former regent of the Daughters of the British Empire of Santa Ana. She enjoyed playing bridge.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her husband, Edward Hicks, of Menifee; daughters Hillary Jones of Westminster and Charlene Brenneman of Mission Viejo; son Peter Hicks of Lake Elsinore; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at St. Michael's Church in Tucson.

MURRIETA - Robert James Wright Sr., 57, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001, of a heart attack, at Inland Valley Hospital.
Born Feb. 20, 1943, in Akron, Ohio, he lived in Murrieta for three years. He was a chef for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pamela Wright of Murrieta; sons and daughters-in-law Raymond and Gaby Wright of El Cajon, Robert and Jaynie Wright of Bakersfield, Rodney and Tiffany Wright of San Diego and Terrance and Colleen Wright of Detroit; daughters and sons-in-law Betty Lou and Jack Whitney of Everett, Wash., and Samantha and Frank Cabadas of Lake Elsinore; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Lona Wright and Terry and Toni Wright, all of Portland, Ore., Ronni Wright and Debbie Gansch of El Cajon; and 17 grandchildren.

Born May 12, 1912, in Kansas City, Mo., she lived in Carlsbad for 30 years.
Mrs. Herzog was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Herzog, on Oct. 22, 1997. She is survived by her niece, Linda McComb of San Clemente; nephew David Ward of Fullerton; and brother and sister-in-law Stephen and Janice Ward of Placentia.
A private cremation is planned and inurnment will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

FALLBROOK - Jean Robbins Ball, 83, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in Fallbrook.
Born Dec. 9, 1917, in Denver, she lived in Fallbrook for 23 years. She was a homemaker for 61 years, an auxiliary volunteer with the Fallbrook District Hospital and a member of the Angel Society of Fallbrook.
Mrs. Ball is survived by her husband of 61 years, William C. Ball of Fallbrook; daughter Suzanne Williamson of Thousand Oaks; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at Berry-Bell & Hall Fallbrook Mortuary. A private cremation is planned, with cremains to be scattered at sea.
