Richard Bridges, 73
SAN MARCOS - Richard J. Bridges, 73, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at his residence.
Born July 17, 1926, in Grove City, Pa., he was a resident of San Marcos for 25 years. He was employed by Westinghouse and Koppers Co. Inc., as an electrical engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.
Mr. Bridges was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Mary Bridges. He is survived by sister Jody Orr of Rolling Hills Estates; niece Susan Lamb of San Jose; nephews Steve Orr of Rancho Pala Verdes and Bob Orr of Templeton; two great nephews and one great niece; and special pets Annie, Foxy, and Blackie.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Jim Allen of Encinitas Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at San Marcos District Cemetery in San Marcos.

John Davis, 73
OCEANSIDE - Rev. John W. Davis, 73, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at his residence.
Born April 18, 1927, in Lyon, Miss., he was a resident of Oceanside for 35 years. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1973, having served for 22 years. He then worked for the civil service until 1986. He was a member of the St. John Missionary Baptist Church and was a founding member of the Second Missionary Baptist Church where he was ordained as a minister.
Rev. Davis is survived by his wife of 46 years, Henrietta Davis; son and daughter-in-law John Jr. and Gertha Davis; daughters and sons-in-law Gwendolyn and Brenda Dacon and Andrew; grandchildren Omari, Brandon, Stephen, Stephani and Johnathon; brothers and sisters-in-law Harry and Mattie Willis, Joe and Mary Willis, James and Mary Wills and Hardy and Getha Hardy and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 tonight, at St. John's Missionary Baptist Church in Oceanside. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. July 6, at St. John Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas Davis officiating.

Irminna Bogart, 81
ESCONDIDO - Irminna Merceda Bogart, 81, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at his home.
Born July 9, 1918, in Mankato, Minn., she lived in Escondido for 45 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Escondido.
Mrs. Bogart was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Louis W. Bogart, in 1987.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Bogart and Joe and Diana Bogart, all of Escondido, Jack and JoAnne Bogart of Redding and Jim and Linda Bogart of Patterson; daughters and sons-in-law Betty and Bob Potter and Tona and John Woolsey, all of Escondido, and Charlotte and Magoo McGill of McDonald, Tenn.; grandchildren Bart, Bret, Stephen, Gina, Tony, Tommy, Tracy, Billy, Theresa, Tonia, Emmy, John, Katie, Jarrod, Roice, Lan, Lindsey and Blake; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Resurrection Catholic Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m., following viewing, with the Rev. Charles Fuld officiating. Interment
will take place at Oak Hill memorial Park.

VISTA - Velma Mae McCurdy, 86, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Pleasant Care of Vista. She was an assembler for 10 years.
Mrs. McCurdy was preceded in death by her husband, Lyndol McCurdy. She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin and Darlene McCurdy of Escondido and Wayne McCurdy of Orange; grandchildren Wendy McCurdy and Gregory Stafford McCurdy, both of Northern California; and great-grandchild Megan Rose McCurdy of Northern California.

OCEANSIDE - Imelda Marie Harrig, 72, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, at her home.
Born July 8, 1927, in Bellevue, Iowa, she lived in Oceanside for 44 years. She worked in food service for the Vista Unified School District for 20 years.
Mrs. Harrig was preceded in death by her husband of 19 years, Raymond Harrig, in 1999. She is survived by her son, Larry Kalmes of Oceanside; stepsons and daughters-in-law Ron and Carol Harrig of Lake Tahoe and Robert Harrig of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Craig Cotten of Vista; stepdaughter and son-in-law Pam and Bill Hayden of Oceanside; brother Norbert Weinschenk of Bellevue, Iowa; sisters Julieta Herrig of Dubuque, Iowa, and Dorothy Kueter of Vista; grandchildren Christine Cotten, Daniel Cotten, Jenna Kalmes, Megan Kalmis, Jeffrey Aicard, Michael Aicard, Lee Hayden, Gerald Hayden, Kimberley Winne, Robert Harrig, Heide Harrig and Keegan Harrig; and three great-grandchildren.

VISTA - Petra N. Badillo, 86, died Sunday, July 2, 2000, in Vista.
Born June 29, 1914, in Mexico, she lived in Vista for 83 years. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Guild.
Mrs. Badillo was preceded in death by her husband, Epifanio Badillo, and son Michael Badillo. She is survived by her sons, Roy Badillo of Vista and Arthur Badillo of Escondido; daughter Ruth Law of Lafayette; sister Delfina Guzman of Oceanside; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

POWAY - Dorothy Catherine Norman, 78, died Monday, July 3, 2000.
Born May 8, 1922, in Redridge, Mich., she lived in Poway for 29 years and in San Diego for 29 years. She was a homemaker for 57 years and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary of La Mesa.
Mrs. Norman is survived by her husband, Dudley V. Norman of Poway; daughters Diane Crocker of Mission Viejo and Becky Rzewuski of Rancho Bernardo; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary Chapel.

Melbourne Charbonnet, 91
SUN CITY - Melbourne Joseph Charbonnet, 91, died Friday, June 30, 2000, of renal failure, at his home.
Born Feb. 12, 1909, in New Orleans, he lived in Sun City for 26 years. He was a self-employed plasterer and painter for 40 years. He was a member of Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent's Catholic Church in Sun City and St. Agnes of Los Angeles.
Mr. Charbonnet is survived by many nieces and nephews including his great-niece, Myra Mathieu of Bloomington; grandchild Jana Watkins of Pasadena; and son-in-law John Watkins of Pasadena.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, July 6, at Miller-Jones Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, July 7, at Miller-Jones Mortuary. Burial will take place Saturday, July 8, at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.

ESCONDIDO - Mamie "Joyce" Morgan, 72, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, in San Diego.
Born Oct. 1, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas, she lived in Escondido for 32 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her son, Richard Dow, in 1989. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Harlan "Joe" Morgan of Escondido; son Gerald Dow of Portland, Ore.; stepsons Ricky Morgan of Minneapolis, Joseph Morgan of Prior Lake, Minn., Allen Morgan of Roseville, Minn., and Danny Morgan of New York; stepdaughter Vickie Rucki of Minneapolis; sister Pat George of Medford, Ore.; and grandchildren Stephanie, Stacy and Shelley Dow, all of Portland.
Viewing will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, July 7, at McLeod Mortuary Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. A private interment will take place at a later date at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

William McDermott, 83
CARLSBAD - William J. McDermott, 83, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, in Carlsbad.
Born May 7, 1917, in Detroit, he lived in Carlsbad for 13 years. He worked for Allied Signal before retiring in 1987, and was a security guard at Rancho Carlsbad Country Club Estate.
Mr. McDermott is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mavis McDermott of Carlsbad; sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Judy McDermott of Victorville and Michael J. and Stella McDermott of Santa Rosa; daughter Mavis Bonus of Encinitas; sister Jean Laude of San Luis Obispo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 8, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Interment

POWAY - Andres Santiago Moras, 73, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000.
Born May 23, 1927, in Peru, he lived in Poway for 10 years. He was a landscaper for 40 years.
Mr. Moras is survived by his wife, Eugenia Moras of Poway; sons Lynn Moras of Peru and Tulio Moras of Rancho Bernardo; daughters Lucia Hort, Lourdes Moras and Rocio Moras, all of Poway, and Fatima Kunding of San Marcos; and six grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Poway.

Dionisio Suarez, 100
OCEANSIDE - Dionisio Suarez, 100, died Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at his home.
Born April 21, 1900, in Mexico, he lived in Oceanside for 74 years. He was a gardener for Eternal Hills before retiring.
Mr. Suarez is survived by his brother, Richard Suarez, in 1998. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Dionisio J. and Aurora Suarez, Eddie Suarez, and Gilbert Suarez, all of Oceanside; daughters and sons-in-law Helen Calzada, Jenny Suarez, Vera and Manuel Yslava and Marian Suarez, all of Oceanside, and Irene and Clinton Inman of Escondido; 27 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Raymond Lenczycki, 62
RAMONA - Raymond P. Lenczycki, 62, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, at his home.
Born April 25, 1938, in Chicago, he lived in Ramona for 18 years. He graduated from a Catholic high school and attended the University of Illinois. He worked for U.S. Steel as a melter fireman and was an auto center manager for Sears, Roebuck & Company in the San Diego and Reno, Nev. areas. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church.
Mr. Lenczycki is survived by his wife, Martha E. Schierholz of Ramona; daughter Nicole Saxton of Escondido; mother Veronica Martin of Sarasota, Fla.; sister Carole Kaczmarek of Sarasota; and grandchildren Elena and Mark, both of Escondido.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Ramona.

Born Oct. 22, 1938, in Villa-Morelos Michoacan, he lived in Escondido for 20 years. He was a laborer for several employers.
Mr. Flores is survived by his wife of 33 years, Juana Florist Flores of Escondido; sons Antonio Flores, Rafael Flores Jr., and Juan Marcos Flores, all of Escondido; daughters Maria Eugenia Flores, Nieves Flores, Trinida Flores and Juana Lidia Flores and Gabriele Flores, all of Escondido; brothers Julio Flores, Jesus Flores and Daniel Flores, all of Mexico; sister Margarita Flores of Mexico; and 13 grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Mary Skowrenek, 96, died Saturday, July 1, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Jan. 10, 1904, in Austria, she lived in Escondido for 30 years. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Escondido.
Mrs. Skowronek was preceded in death by her sons, Bill Skowronek, in 1975 and Walter Skowronek in 1986; and her husband, Stanley Skowronek in 1978. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Wally and Mildred Fisher of Escondido; eight grandchildren; and a number of great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Rancho Mobile Home Park upper clubhouse in Escondido.

Mrs. Chai is survived by her husband of 20 years, Julian "Buddy" Chai of Oceanside; father Charles "Tom" Raines of Vista; son Thomas Julian Chai of Oceanside; brothers and sister-in-law Julie McGandy of Santa Maria, Leslie Cook of Fredericksburg, Va., and Charles T. Raines III of Clovis; and sister Denise Schommer of Vista.

CANYON LAKE - Herbert Erwin Johnson, 71, died Wednesday, July 5, 2000, of emphysema, at Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Riverside.
Born July 15, 1928, in Chicago, he lived in Canyon Lake for 22 years. He was self-employed and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Nancy Johnson of Canyon Lake; son Kenneth Johnson of St. Charles, Ill.; daughter Patricia Tomkin of Oak Park, Ill.; and three grandchildren.
