CARLSBAD - Jolene Neff Stringer, 74, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at Tenenbaum Villa Residential Care Facility.
Born Nov. 12, 1925, in Omaha, Neb., she was a resident of Carlsbad for 50 years.
Mrs. Stringer is survived by her husband of 51 years, Edward Stringer of Carlsbad; sons Edward M. Stringer of Encinitas and Mitchell Stringer of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Brent Lee and Leslie Stringer of Cardiff; daughter and son-in-law Jolene and Stephen Elliott of Carlsbad; sister Salle Johnston of Orange County; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10, at St. Elizabeth Seaton Catholic Church in Carlsbad. A private family inurnment in scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13 at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Daisy Wheaton, 86
OCEANSIDE - Daisy "Grandma" May Wheaton, 86, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, at Monte Villa Vista in Poway.
Born Jan. 18, 1914 in Twillingate, Newfoundland, she was a resident of Oceanside since 1957. She was a nurse for over 40 years, she retired from Camp Pendleton in 1988 and worked in the labor and delivery room.
Mrs. Wheaton was preceded in death by her husband Wyman Wheaton in 1995. She is survived by her grandchildren Ruth Wick, Wyman Maddox and Donald Maddox; great-grandchildren Sally Wick, Sarah Maddox and Jonah Maddox.
Memorial services are scheduled fro 5 p.m. Wednesday, June 12 at Las Flores Church of the Nazarene.

Charley Corley, 79
VISTA - Charley V. Corley, 79, died Monday, June 5, 2000.
Born Oct. 4, 1920, in Ga. he was a resident of Vista.
Mr. Corley served in the U.S. Marines during WW II and the Korean War. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and a long time member of the Elks Bowling League.
Mr. Corley was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Winona Corley of Vista; son and daughter-in-law Roger and Elaine Corley of Vista; four brothers; four sisters and grandchildren Lisa DeBold of Vista and Jamie DeBold of Berkley.

VISTA - Efren Torres Robledo, 68, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born June 18, 1931, in Mexico, he was a resident of Vista. He was a self employed cook for Mexican Cuisine for 29 years.
Mr. Robledo is survived by his wife of 49 years, Flora Robledo of Vista; son and daughter-in-law Nicolas and Maria Robledo of Escondido; daughters Elia Robledo of Vista and Flora Pinal of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Silvia and Cecilio Resendiz of Garden Grove, Mary and David Pena of Escondido, Selma and Jesus Maldonado of Vista; brothers Raul, Eulalio and Jose Robledo all of Mexico, Samuel Robledo of Houston and Refujio Robledo of Vista; sisters Hermelia and Emilia Robledo both of Mexico; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Eternal Hills Chapel. Funeral services are planned for 1 p.m. at Eternal Hills Chapel; burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Louis Stubbs, 82
CARLSBAD - Louis Paul "Bud" Stubbs, 82, died Saturday, June 3, 2000 at his residence.
Born Aug. 11, 1917, in Sikeston, Mo., he was a resident of Carlsbad and was a former resident of Encinitas, Eureka and Vista. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II and for 30 years prior to his retirement. He founded and operated Stubbs Fuchsia Gardens in Encinitas with his wife. He was a member of the Encinitas and the Eureka Fuchsia Clubs, the Palomar-Pacific and the Eureka Chapters of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America.
Mr. Stubbs is survived by his wife Annabelle Stubbs of Carlsbad.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at the El Camino Memorial/Encinitas Chapel. Cremation is planned.

VISTA - Irma Odeyne Miller, 89, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at her residence.
Born July 22, 1910, in Pa., she was a resident of Vista for 40 years. She was a retail clerk at Fedmart for 25 years.
Ms. Miller is survived by her sister Martha Strom of Big Fork, Mont.
No formal services are planned. Inurnment will be at Ft. Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Jay Baldwin, 83
POWAY - Jay C. Baldwin, 83, died Saturday, June 3, 2000.
Born April 18, 1917, in White Bluffs, Wash., he was a resident of Poway. He was a retired minister for Wesleyan Church pastoring 18 years, seven years in Solana Beach, four years in Ojai and seven years in Hesperia where he started the church. He served in the U.S. Army from 1946-1948 and was an engineer for the Navy for 27 years.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife Violet Baldwin; daughter Adell Russ of Poway; brother Dwight Baldwin of Mich., and three grandchildren.
Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. June 24, at 16251 Windpiper Rd. in Poway. Burial will take place at 2:45 p.m. June 9, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 VanBuren Blvd. in Riverside.

Leland Whipp, 91
ESCONDIDO - Leland C. Whipp, 91, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at his residence of heart failure.
Born May 13, 1909, in Creston, Iowa, he was a resident of Escondido. He retired Jan. 1975 as a chief executive officer, Nebraska Goodwill Industries, Omaha, Neb. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Escondido since 1984.
Mr. Whipp was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters. He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Whipp of Escondido, sister-in-law Peggy Edwards of Poway; seven nieces and four nephews.
Memorial Service are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10 at First United Methodist Church, 341 South Kalimia Street, Escondido.

Helen Marie Coutee, 78
Helen Marie Coutee, 78, died Monday, June 5, 2000, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.
Born April 21, 1922, in Prescott, Ark., she lived in Murrieta for nine years.
She worked as a seamstress in Redondo Beach for 10 years.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and quilting. She was an excellent homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest Coutee, of Murrieta; father, Penny Otwell; daughters, Littlet Westmoreland of Temecula and Sheree Hall of Corona; sisters, Edith Garner of Camden, Ark., Minnie Gauthreaux and Betty Falcon of New Orleans, Beatrice Dougan and Nellie McSweeny of Prescott, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Jr., and daughter, Mary S. Knight.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today, June 8, 2000, at Miller Jones Mortuary in Sun City, followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7 p.m. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 9, 2000, at St. Martha's Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

MURRIETA - Virginia May Hartman, 86, died Sunday, June 4, 2000, at her home.
Born March 1, 1914, in Kalamazoo, Mich., she lived in Murrieta for 15 years.
She is survived by her sisters Lucille Taylor and Lois Taylor, both of Murrieta, Barbara Thomas of Temecula, Anne Jordan of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Dorothy Baston of Chiefland, Fla.; daughter Suzanne DeMarse of Murrieta.
A funeral will be held at 11:30 today, June 8, 2000, at Douglas Mortuary in El Segundo. Burial will take place at Green Hills in Torrance.

George William Neville, 69
TEMECULA - George William Neville, 69, died Sunday, May 21, 2000, at his residence.
Born Nov. 5, 1930, in Dickenson, N.D., he lived in Temecula for seven years.
George was a surveyor and construction manager throughout the United States, in the Pacific and Southeast Asia. He was also chief estimator for American Contracting in Temecula. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Infantry during the Korean War and was wounded in the retreat to the Pusan perimeter.
He is survived by his wife, Somari Neville, of Temecula; sisters June Gotharad and Daphney Linscott of Billings, Mont.; son Jon Neville of Escondido; caretaker Penney Flores.
A private funeral service was held May 28, 2000.

Howard Kalisch, 82
ESCONDIDO - Howard Gerald Kalisch, 82, died Wednesday, June 7, 2000, of pulmonary fibrosis, at his home in Escondido.
Born Dec. 4, 1917, in Bismarck, N.D. He graduated from Oshkosh High School in Wisconsin and attended Oshkosh Teacher's College. He served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years, retiring as chief warrant officer W3, in 1958. He earned a degree in electronic engineering at MIT in 1946. He also attended elementary radio school and the Armed Forces Special Weapons School. He was president and founder of Electricar of San Diego Inc., which he ran from 1958 to 1978 and was a real estate sales representative from 1979 to 1983. He served as council explorer and service chairman in San Diego for the Boy Scouts of America and was a volunteer firefighter Rookie of the Year in Jacksonville, Oregon. He was a Mason, a Shriner and a member of Scottish Rite.
Mr. Kalisch is survived by his wife of more than 16 years, Alberta Kalisch of Escondido; son Kenny Kalisch of Encinitas; stepsons and daughters-in-law Don and Judy Davis of San Marcos and Ken and Madeline Davis of Vista; daughters and sons-in-law Julia and Rollie Jarmusch of Prescott, Ariz., and Syndi and Bob Adams of Scottsdale, Ariz.; adopted daughter Debbie Kalisch of Ramona; stepdaughters and sons-in-law Carol and Thom Bolden of San Marcos and Margie Davis of Honolulu; sisters and brothers-in-law Marian and Bruce Lorton of Phoenix and Gerry and Pete Ruiz of San Diego; grandson Ryan Jackson of Santa Barbara; stepgrandchildren Erin and Jared Davis of Vista, Michael and Sarah Davis and Cherie and Krista Bolden, all of San Marcos; nephews Roger Lorton of Phoenix and Alex Pennier of San Diego; and nieces Linda and husband Mike Sullivan of Indiana and Barbara Martin of El Cajon.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 12, at San Marcos Cemetery.

BONSALL - Mary Oster Jones, 79, died Tuesday, June 6, 2000, at her home.
Born Oct. 13, 1921, in Walnut Ridge, Ark., she lived in North County for 55 years. She worked for Base Special Services at Camp Pendleton.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her sons, Ronald Oster and his companion, Russ Atwater, of San Diego and Thomas Oster and wife Janet of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Kathy "Kitten" and Stanly Bergmann of Bonsall; grandchildren Eric and Lora Oster, Trisha Tucker, Jennifer and Johnny Campbell, Amy Oster, J.D. Oster and Arthur Bergmann; and great-grandchildren Jack and Wyatt.
A memorial service is pending at the Church of All Saints in San Marcos, with the Rev. James Bischoff officiating. A private cremation is planned with inurnment to follow.

Born Jan. 29, 1965, in San Diego, she lived in San Diego County her entire life. She was a nurse assistant for Olsten Certified Health Care for five years.
Mrs. Cannizzaro is survived by her husband of five years, Jonathan J. Cannizzaro of Escondido; brothers Robin Lee Simpson and Ronald Birdman, both of Tucson, Ariz., Daniel Aaron Simpson of San Diego and William Joseph Simpson of Caper, Wyo.; sisters Laurie Jean Walker of Tulsa, Okla., Bonnie Virginia DeCelles of Philadelphia, Pa., and Victoria Simpson of Tucson.

Born Aug. 13, 1914, in Illinois, he lived in Oceanside for 53 years. He was a parts salesman for auto supply stores.
Mr. Wrede is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ardith Kay and Richard Davis of Oceanside and Gayle and Frank Jacobs of Oregon; brother and sister-in-law Gail and Pat Wrede of Texas; sister Dorothy Dawson of San Diego; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Born Jan. 10, 1916, in Newport, Ark., she grew up in Arkansas. She graduated from Newport High School, where she was the captain of the girls state championship basketball team.
Mrs. Berkshire was preceded in death by her husband, Rice Berkshire; brother Richard Gregory; and sister Leatrice Gaither. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Rice Berkshire III and Linda Berkshire of San Jose and Tom and Sheila Berkshire of Lakeside; daughters and sons-in-law Jean and Manny Perez of Escondido, Sue and Bob Nelson of Manzanita, Ore., Mary and Al Mattox of Mohave Valley, Ariz., and Peggy and David Diehm of Beaverton, Ore.; sisters Patsy Ruth McDoniel and Bettie Allen McConnaughhay; sisters-in-law Mary Helen Gregory of McCrory, Ark., and Jane Harris of El Centro; 20 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
