Rosanne Ashbridge, 93
SUN CITY - Rosanne Mary Ashbridge, 93, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, at Sun City Convalescent Hospital.
Born Nov. 23, 1906, in Lancaster, Pa., she lived in Sun City for 15 years. She was a homemaker for 60 years and was past president of the Sun City Organ Club and a member of the Art and Grandmother Club of Sun City.
Mrs. Ashbridge is survived by her sister, Ruth Jonas of Dade City, Fla.
A private service is planned. Burial will take place at Elsinore Valley Cemetery.

Elwin Gingrich, 83
OCEANSIDE - Elwin L. Gingrich, 83, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 1999, of pneumonia and complications of a stroke, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Dec. 21, 1916, in Lafayette, Ind., he lived in Oceanside. He attended Purdue University in West Lafayette and served in the U.S. Air Force in Burtonwood, England, resigning as a warrant officer. He worked for the U.S. Civil Service as a systems analyst, retiring after 35 years of combined military and civil service duty. He was a member of the Oceanside Elks Lodge 1561 for 25 years.
Mr. Gingrich is survived by his wife, Bette McIntyre of San Bernardino; daughter Sandra Jean Clements; brother and sister-in-law Wayne and Ruth Gingrich of Lafayette; and sister Helen King of Oceanside.
A private cremation was held at his request with ashes scattered at sea.
William Panza, 93
OCEANSIDE - William Panza, 93, died Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at SunBridge Convalescent, of complications from a fall in November.
Born Dec. 16, 1906, in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in California since 1921. He was co-owner of a manufacturing business.
Mr. Panza is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen Panza; daughter and son-in-law Barbara and Fred Coyle of Oceanside.
A private cremation and scattering of ashes at sea was held Friday, Jan. 7.
Roy Cannon
ESCONDIDO - Roy W. Cannon died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 7, 1916, in Stuart, Okla., he lived in Escondido for 10 years. He was a yacht broker and served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946.
Mr. Cannon is survived by his wife of 30 years, Linda Cannon of Escondido; son Jerry Cannon of San Diego; daughters Vicky Drexhage of Lahina, Hawaii, and Dee Mills-Cannon of Talent, Ore.; and sister Alma Eileen Sherman of Stockton.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 24, at Riverside National Cemetery.

Carlton Poling, 86
MERCER ISLAND, Wash. - Carlton Poling, 86, died Saturday, Dec. 4, 1999, at Mercer Island.
Born in Lone Wolf, Okla., he lived on Mercer Island. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II. He earned a master's degree from the University of Oklahoma. He was a district and county superintendent of schools in Oklahoma and taught high school art in Fallbrook for 19 years. He was a founding member of the Fallbrook Art Association and started the Fallbrook Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons in 1990. He was honored as Fallbrook Citizen of the Year by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce for his work with youth. He was Fallbrook High School Teacher of the Year for his Hire-A-Youth program, San Diego County Democrat of the Year and Retired Teacher of the Year. He was a lifetime member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans and was honored by DAV for more than 2000 hours of volunteer work. In 1992, he received the AARP's National Service award.
Mr. Poling is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Poling of Renton, Wash.; sons and daughters-in-law Carmen and Margaret Poling of Boise, Idaho, and George and Glenda Poling of Eugene, Ore.; daughters and sons-in-law Carleta and C.B. Barton of Hobart, Okla., and Julie and Bob Johnson of Renton, Wash.; two brothers; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nephews and nieces.
No service was held at the request of the deceased. Interment
will take place at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Wash.

Minnie Stroecker, 74
VALLEY CENTER - Minnie Lee Stroecker, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, in Joshua Tree.
Born Sept. 30, 1925, in Opp, Ala., she lived in North County for 46 years. She was a homemaker for 56 years and served as a private in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mrs. Stroecker was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Stroecker, in 1980. She is survived by her son, Carl A. Stroecker of Valley Center; daughter Cynthia Stroecker of Yucca Valley; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. Burial will take place at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, at Riverside National Cemetery, with the Rev. James Dale officiating.

Thomas Fox
SOLANA BEACH - Thomas K. Fox died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2000, of cancer.
Born in New York City, he lived in Solana Beach for 28 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He graduated from Adelphi University and received his master's degree from New York University. He was a certified public accountant, serving as chief financial officer for Hazeltine Corp. and Fiat Manufacturing Inc. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and of Lomas Santa Fe and Whispering Palms country clubs. He was a member and usher at St. James Church and a member of Mission Circle.
Mr. Fox is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kathryn Fox; sons and daughters-in-law Thomas Fox, James and Betsy Fox, Michael and Kim Fox, Robert and Sue Fox and John and Kate Fox; three grandsons; and eight granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Jan. 24, at St. James Catholic Church in Solana Beach. A private cremation is planned.

CARLSBAD - Milo Baron, 94, died Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2000, at Escondido Medical Center.
Born Dec. 25, 1905, in Pearce, Ariz., he lived in Carlsbad for 15 years. He was in sales for Century Music Co. before retiring and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946.
Mr. Baron is survived by his wife of 46 years, Muriel Baron of Carlsbad; son Burney Baron of Rohnert Park; daughter Anita Dunn of Vancouver, Wash.; brothers Henry Monroy of San Diego and Mike Monroy of Calexico; sister Blanche Coronado of East Highlands; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. today, Jan. 22, at Christ Presbyterian Church of Rancho La Costa, with the Rev. Doug Kelly officiating. A private cremation is planned.

FALLBROOK - Jack David Black, 87, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born Feb. 1, 1912, in Bakersfield, he lived in Fallbrook for 26 years. He was a field supervisor for Chevron Oil Co. for 27 years.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mildred A. Black of Fallbrook; son David Kevin Black of Bellingham, Wash.; daughter Ellen Black-Eacker of Norco; and five grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing were held Friday, Jan. 21, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. today, Jan. 22, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel. Interment

VISTA - Clyde Theodore Whynaught, 65, died Thursday, Jan. 20, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Jan. 5, 1935, in Hingham, Mass., he lived in Vista for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a technical sergeant.
Mr. Whynaught is survived by his wife, Freda Whynaught of Vista; mother Dorothy Whynaught of Vista; sons Todd Whynaught of Carson and Stephen Whynaught of Vista; daughters Donna Garcia of Vista and Karen Boone of Keizer, Ore.; brothers David Whynaught of Vista and Clifford Whynaught of Oceanside; sister Elizabeth Riggs of Redding; and grandson Christopher Fracasse of Vista.

MURRIETA - Estella G. Latta, 86, died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2000, of cardiorespiratory arrest at her home.
Born Aug. 7, 1913, in Santa Monica, she lived in Murrieta for 65 years. She was a homemaker and a member and volunteer for CV Historical Museum in Indio. She was past president of the Dateland Does and a member of the Murrieta Garden Club.
Mrs. Latta was preceded in death by her husband, Hoot Latta. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Scott of Murrieta; brother Terry McDaniel of Clayton and Rod McDaniel of Cambria; grandchildren Cathy Fremen of Fountain Valley and Kirk Scott of San Clemente; and great-grandchildren Laura Fremen and Steve Fremen, both of Fountain Valley and Travis Scott and Hannah Scott, both of Garden Grove.

PAUMA VALLEY - Clarice N. Cavanagh, 98, died Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2000, in Pauma Valley.
Born Nov. 3, 1901, in Dayton, Wash., she lived in Pauma Valley for one year. She was a homemaker. She graduated from the University of Redlands and earned a master's degree at Prince School & Simmons College in Boston, and worked in advertising.
Mrs. Cavanagh was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, H.L. "Bert" Cavanagh, in 1994. She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pattinson of Escondido; grandchildren Douglas Newton of Poway and John Pattinson of Morgan Hill; and great-grandchildren David and Mathew Pattinson and Ryan Newton.

ESCONDIDO - Mildred A. Painter, 83, died Tuesday, Jan. 18 2000, at her home.
Born Feb. 22, 1916, in San Antonio, Texas, she lived in Escondido for 52 years. She was a dental assistant, retiring in 1968, and was a member of the San Marcos Grange.
Mrs. Painter was preceded in death by her husband, Meredith Painter, on Aug. 28, 1995. She is survived by her son, William M. Painter of Escondido; daughter Karen Villalobos of Escondido; grandchildren Kimberli Bihl, Cindi Evans, Bill Smith, Bill Painter, Brett Villalobos and Janet Pearson; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

VALLEY CENTER - Claud Samuel Cavitt, 74, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2000, of heart failure, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Aug. 24, 1925, in Duffeau, Texas, he lived in Valley Center for 12 years. He was an engineer in the aerospace industry for 30 years and was a businessman in the real estate industry. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during World War II.
Mr. Cavitt was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Anne Elora Cavitt, in 1998. He is survived by his sons, Sam Cavitt II of Escondido and Dennis Cavitt of Eastland, Texas; daughter Claudia Cunningham of Valley Center; brothers Johnny Cavitt, Garland Cavitt and Dave Cavitt, all of Texas; sister Sally Avara of Texas; grandchildren Aaron Cavitt, Chase Cavitt, Amy Cavitt, Shannon Zurn, Ryan Brown and Kyle Brown; and one great-grandchild.

Charles Truesdell, 71
VISTA - Charles Lewis Truesdell, 71, died Thursday, Jan. 13, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Feb. 4, 1928, in Riverside, he lived in Vista for 25 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as a seaman during World War II, and retired as lieutenant commander. He was a 1945 graduate of Poly High School in Riverside. He worked in the computer industry and formed his own computer company, Truesdell International. He was a founder and inventor for Summatec Corporation of Vista.
Mr. Truesdell is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Truesdell of Vista; son Mark Truesdell of Vista; daughters Karen Truesdell of Wheat Ridge, Colo., and Carol Holmes of Temecula; brother Robert Truesdell of Riverside; sisters Charleen Duggan of Graham, Wash., and Beverley Fortune of Riverside; and grandchild Meghan Holmes of Temecula.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Faith Lutheran Church in Vista.
