Sally Jensen, 91
ALBANY, Ore. - Sally Z. Jensen, 91, died Friday, June 2, 2000.
Born June 14, 1908, in Czechoslovakia, she moved to Chicago as a girl. She was a maid for the wife of movie producer Herold Llyod. She lived in San Marcos for many years.
Mrs. Jensen was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur H. Jensen, in 1991; and her sister, Mildred Petrovich, in February 2000. She is survived by her daughters, Dorothea Anderson of LaPine, ore., and Pat Riffe of Corvallis, Ore.; stepsister Ida Klattig of Fairbanks, Alaska; grandchildren Joy Chase of Lebanon, Ore., Jonathan Riffe of Caddo Mills, Texas, Linda Lavine of New York, Patrick Anderson of La Pine; and great-grandchildren Crystal Taylor and Michelle Chase, both of Lebanon and Amanda and Eric Riffe of Corvallis.
A private family memorial service is planned.

Beverly Brown, 88
VISTA - Beverly Holladay Brown, 88, died Thursday, June 1, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born June 21, 1912, in New York City, he lived in Vista for 32 years. He attended Harvard and was a reference librarian for the Library of Congress, retiring in 1967. He was a member of the Secular Franciscan Order and wrote and translated more than a dozen books on Catholic and Franciscan subjects.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Busch Brown, in 1989.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Vista. Burial will folow at 11 a.m. at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

David Winkler, 90
SANTA BARBARA - David Pendleton Winkler, 90, died Monday, May 22, 2000.
Born May 15, 1910, in Milwaukee, he lived in Santa Barbara and had lived in Escondido from 1945 to 1964. He attended Dartmouth and Stanford universities and earned a medical doctorate from Columbia Medical School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He practiced medicine in Escondido for 19 years, serving on the Palomar Hospital staff and was a founder of Palomar Family Counseling Center. He studied psychiatry at Camarillo State Hospital practiced psychiatry in Goleta until retirng in 1977. He was a member of the Sierra Club.
Dr. Winkler is survived by his wife of 32 years, Poly Winkler; sons Peter Winkler of New York and Daniel Winkler of Seattle; daughter Carol Flickinger of Port Townsend, Wash.; and sister Jean Hoover.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 25, at Alameda Park in Santa Barbara.

Joyce Dupuy, 73
DEL MAR - Joyce Rita Dupuy, 73, died Wednesday, June 14, 2000, in San Diego.
Born June 14, 1927, in New Orleans, she lived in Del Mar for 25 years. She worked in real estate before retiring. She served in the Women's Marine Corps and was a member of Rancho Coastal Humane Society.
Mrs. Dupuy is survived by her sister, Elsie Kilgallon of San Diego.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 22, at Mission Bay at the entrance ot DeAnza Harbor Resort.
Herbert Kelly, 81
OCEANSIDE - Herbert Kelly, 81, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Village Square Nursing Home.
Born Nov. 25, 1918, in Canada, he lived in Oceanside for 41 years. He was an area auditor with the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring in 1970 as a master gunnery sergeant.
Mr. Kelly is survived by his wife of 41 years, Annie Kelly of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Sandra Kelly of White Sands, Mexico; stepson Gerry Nichols of Memphis, Tenn.; daughter Joyce McKissick of La Quinta; brother and sister-in-law Howard and Phyllis Kelly of Canada; grandchildren Janine Finney and Amanda, Robert and Christopher Kelly; great-grandchildren Dana and Tim Eriksson and Lorry LaPoint; and stepgreat-grandchildren Jarad and Gavin Nichols.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Hal Schultz officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with military honors.

OCEANSIDE - Ruth Eloise Stanley, 75, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, of breast cancer, at Villa Pomerado in Poway.
Born July 25, 1924, in Wiota, Cass, Iowa, she lived in Oceanside for 12 years. She worked for Martin Business Machines and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oceanside.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her husband of 53 years, Francis H. Stanley of Oceanside; sons Robert Stanley of Oceanside, Richard Stanley of Virginia and Michael Stanley of San Bernardino; brother Carl L. Reed of Shakopee, Minn.; sister Elsie Reed Staska of Salt Lake City; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Viewing will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Mesa Drive in Oceanside, with Bishop Jack Anderson officiating. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino.

ESCONDIDO - Opal Ella Discher, 71, died Sunday, June 18, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born March 2, 1919, in Minneapolis, she lived in Escondido for 36 years. She was a homemaker and nurse at Valle Vista Nursing Home and a member of the Escon-doce Square Dance Club and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Escondido. She was a volunteer pink lady at Palomar Medical Cente for many years.
Mrs. Discher was preceded in death by her mother, Fern Petroske, in 1991. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, William Discher of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Kassie and David Green of Escondido, Linda and Terry Reeve of Nevada City and Debbie and Edwin Dilbeck of Ogden, Utah; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 23, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Ted Gullixson officiating. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

OCEANSIDE - John Vincent Conroy, 91, died Friday, June 16, 2000, at Rancho Vista Retirement.
Born May 23, 1909, in Chicago, he lived in Oceanside for 26 years. He was sergeant of police for the city of Chicago, retiring July 1, 1970. He worked for Rosecrucian Fellowship of Oceanside for 20 years and was a volunteer for Senior Citizens Center in Oceanside.
Mr. Conroy was preceded in death by his son, Keith Conroy, in April 1990. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Bess M. Conroy of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Bruce J. and Judi Conroy of Summerland; stepson and daughter-in-law Timothy L. and Crokett Rhine of Escondido; and grandchildren Bethany Rhine of Escondido, Mackenzie Rhine of Kansas and Jay Bishop of Santa Cruz.

Born March 12, 1931, in Providence, R.I., she lived in Ramona for 18 years. She was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence and Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine.
Mrs. Sarty is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lee W. Sarty Jr. of Ramona; daughters Lynne Sarty of Eureka and Betsy Stewart of Cortez, Colo.; son Bruce Sarty of Winchester; and seven grandchildren.

Born Feb. 11, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he lived in Vista for 10 years. He was a machinist for Ford Aeronutronics in Newport Beach for 25 years, retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician's mate during World War II.
Mr. Camino is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jean Camino of Vista; daughters and sons-in-law Linda and James Scott of Vista, Donna And Steve Heimann of Alta Loma, Sharon and James Osburn of Lake Mary, Fla., and Terrie and Brian Guittard of Dallas; grandchildren Carrie and Matt Martin, Cinnamon Scott, Sgt. Born April 4, 1929, in Colorado Springs, Colo., she lived in San Marcos for 47 years. She was a homemaker for 50 years and a member of Jocelyn Senior Center of San Marcos.
Mrs. Vogler was preceded in death by her husband, Tallbot Eugene Vogler, on March 8, 1998.
She is survived by her sons, Kim E. Vogler of Odenton, Md., and Jeff A. Vogler of Vista; daughter Nancy L. Bartlett of Vancouver, Wash.; brother Donald L. Whittier of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sister Lois McDaniel of San Marcos; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Born July 19, 1926, in Los Angeles, he lived in Escondido for six years. He was an insurance salesman for 30 years before retiring and served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II.
Mr. Farley is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Farley of Escondido; son Michael D. Farley III of Missouri; and one grandchild.
A memorial Mass was held Wednesday, June 21, at the Church of the Resurrection in Escondido. A private interment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.

Born Aug. 6, 1922, in Bismarck, N.D., she lived in San Marcos for 14 years. She worked for Ed Nichols Construction Co., retiring in 1985. She was a member of the Altar Society at St. Patrick's Church in Carlsbad, president of the National Association of Women in Construction, Region 12, San Bernardino-Riverside, Chapter 111, and the Emblem Club, Riverside Lodge 643.
Mrs. Broadbear was preceded in death by her brothers-in-law, Gene Cooper and Riley Cooper. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Jack Broadbear of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Rose Broadbear of San Clemente; daughter and son-in-law Patricia Ann and Brian Kiggins of Simi Valley; and grandchildren Shawn Kiggins, Kevin Kiggins and Kyle Kiggins.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 16, at St. Patrick's Church in Carlsbad. Burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.
