Willard Zima, 49
MURRIETA - Willard "Bill" G. Zima, 49, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at his home.
He lived in Murrieta for 10 years and practiced dentistry in San Jacinto and Temecula for 20 years.
Dr. Zima is survived by his wife, Cyndi of Murrieta; mother Patricia Zima of Rossville, Ga.; twin daughters Megan and Mackenzie Zima of Murrieta; daughter Jessica Zima of Hemet; stepsons Joshua and Andrew Richie of Murrieta; ward Julia Bartholomew of Murrieta; brothers Robert Zima of Minnesota and Jeff Zima of Nebraska; and sister Nancy Gentry of Tennessee.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Valley Funeral Home in Old Town Murrieta. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Murrieta Springs Seventh-day Adventist Church (currently meeting at the United Methodist Church).

Joe Peevey, 84
SAN MARCOS - Joe Dan Peevey, 84, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Feb. 19, 1917, in Oklahoma City, he lived in San Marcos and San Diego County for 35 years. He served in the U.S. Navy as an environmental health specialist for 30 years.
Mr. Peevey was preceded in death by his wife, Miriam B. Peevey, on June 23, 1993.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Paul and Dawn Peevey of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter and son-in-law JoAnne and Larry Klassen of Escondido; sister and brother-in-law Connie and Edward Farrow of South Hampton, N.J.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel, with George Patterson officiating. Interment icon with military honors will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.

Michael Pimentel, 19
RIVERSIDE - Michael Louis Pimentel, 19, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, of cardiorespiratory failure.
Born Oct. 26, 1981, in Pomona, he lived in Riverside for one year. He lived in Redlands for six years. He worked as a welder for West Coast Pipe Line for one year. He graduated from Redlands High School in 1999. He was a member of Inland Fish and Game Conservation.
Mr. Pimentel is survived by his father, Al Pimentel of Riverside; mother Roxanne Franko of Escondido; stepmother Debbie Pimentel of Riverside; stepfather Gilbert Franko of Escondido; brother Christopher Pimentel of Escondido; grandmothers Maxima Pimentel of San Leandro and Judith Rose of Santee; and stepbrothers Robert Hall and Mikel Hall, both of Highland.
Memorial service and burial are scheduled for 1 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Hillside Memorial Park in Redlands.

Antonio Ricca, 82
ESCONDIDO - Antonio "Tony" Ricca, 82, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Pomerado Hospital.
Born March 10, 1919, in Escondido, he lived in Escondido for 82 years. He was a professional photographer and retired in 1982.
Mr. Ricca is survived by his wife of 41 years, Dottie Ricca of Escondido; sister-in-law Karin Norlin of Escondido; and nephews Kurt Norlin of Irvine and Chris Norlin of Los Angeles.
A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, June 11, at Emmanuel Faith Community Church building 6. A private inurnment will take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Youth Camp Scholarship at Emmanuel Faith Communitny Church, 639 E. Felicita Ave., Escondido, CA 92025.

Felipita Dominquez, 89
CARLSBAD - Felipita Dominquez, 89, died Saturday, May 26, 2001, at her home of natural causes.
Born May 26, 1912, in New Mexico, she lived in Carlsbad for 55 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Dominquez was preceded in death by her husband, Solomon Dominquez Sr. in 1990; sons Solomon Dominquez Jr. in 1989, and Tito Floyd Dominquez in 1992.
She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Maclovio and Cristel Dominquez and Leroy Sr. and Brigida Dominquez; daughters and sons-in-law Dana T. and Roberto Martinez, Lillian A. and Paul Hernandez and Nora and Jim Sotel; 21 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 4 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Asamblea Apostolica Church in Oceanside.

Mel Lewis, 43
VISTA - Mel Eric Lewis, 43, died Friday, June 1, 2001, in Oceanside of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 19, 1957, in White Plains, N.Y.
Mr. Lewis is survived by his wife, Julie Phillips Lewis of Laguna Hills; parents Dodie and Mel Lewis; son Kyle Benjamin Lewis of Placentia; daughter Maren Elise Lewis of Placenta; brothers and sister-in-law Mike and Denise Lewis of Trabuco Canyon and Tod Lewis of Vista; and sister and brother-in-law Robin and Albe Kohler of Oceanside.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Lutheran Church of the Cross with the Rev. Leland Lantz officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Garman Porter, 47
OCEANSIDE - Garman Lee "Garm" Porter, 47, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Veteran's Medical Center in San Diego from respiratory failure.
He worked as a millwright for 25 years from Union Hall Local 1080, and was a member of American Legion and the El Camino Country Club. He was a member of the Protestant faith and served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Mr. Porter is survived by his parents, Garman and Hudhie Porter of Evansville, Ind.; sisters Tonya Ellsworth of Corona and Janet Barmes of Evansville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 8 p.m. today, June 8, at Boone Funeral Homes in Evansville, Ind. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, at Boone Funeral Homes with the Rev. Jim Sedden officiating. Burial will be at James Parker Cemetery in Hatfield, Ind.

Dorothy Currier, 99
CARLSBAD - Dorothy Currier, 99, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Carlsbad-by-the-Sea Lutheran Home.
Born June 12, 1901, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, she lived in Carlsbad for 33 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Currier was preceded in death by her husband, Vance Lester Currier, in 1960; daughter Phyllis Davis, in September 2000, and son David Currier in June 1997.
She is survived by her son, Paul Currier of Florida; daughters Jeanne Danknich of Denver and Dorothy Temmer of Grand Junction, Colo.; brother Alan Barron of Waterloo, Iowa; sister Mildred Hendry of Florida; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Carlsbad-by-the-Sea Lutheran Home. A private cremation and inurnment will take place at Westminster Memorial Park in Westminster.
The family suggests memorial donations to Employees of Carlsbad-by-the-Sea Fund, 2855 Carlsbad Blvd., Carlsbad, CA 92008.

Helen Remery, 93
ESCONDIDO - Helen Remery, 93, died Monday, May 7, 2001, after a short illness.
Born July 21, 1907, in Ridgewood, N.J., she lived in Escondido since 1985. She was a member of the Community Church of Ridgewood and the Senior Center of Fair Lawn, N.J..
Mrs. Remery is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Eugene A. Remery Jr. and Mary Ann Remery of San Marcos; sister Catherine Van Zile of Mahwah, N.J.; granddaughters Susan A. Remery of San Diego and Sandra Umphreyville of Escondido; great-granddaughters Caitlin, Jenna and Erica Umphreyville; nieces Mary Ann Missel and Kathy Van Koester; and nephews Robert, John and Richard Van Zile.
A private graveside service was held at Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, N.J.

Daniel Umpriani, 19
VISTA - Daniel M. Umpriani, 19, died Saturday, June 2, 2001, as the result of an auto accident.
Born July 4, 1981, in the Republic of Georgia, he lived in Vista for five years.
Daniel is survived by his mother, Marina Umpriani of Vista.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today, June 8, at Encinitas Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Walter Vergini
Walter Vergini, 81, passed away on June 6, 2001. Born in Ancona, Italy, on Oct. 20, 1919, he followed his father to America, in 1936, at the ago of 16.
He started the East Detroit Accordion Tuning Center as a sole proprietor. In 1959, he moved his family to California where he worked as a millwright master accordion tuner.
Walter and his wife Anne lived in Oxnard until recently when they moved to Encinitas to be closer to his family.
Walter is survived by his wife of 63 years; son Ronald of Van Nuys, his daughter MaryAnn Erle Powers; son Walter and Norita of Frazier Park; daughter Sharon Steffon of Simi Valley; son Gary of West Hills; daughter Gail Vergini of Oxnard. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
He will be remembered, loved and respected by all who knew him. His skills will be greatly missed by the accordion industry.

Roger F. Murphy
Roger F. Murphy, 75, of Oceanside, passed away on June 5, 2001, at Vista Life Care Center after a long illness with heart disease.
Born Dec. 30, 1925, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, he was a resident of Fallbrook and Oceanside since 1979. He was a past master of Fallbrook Masonic Lodge, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Scottish Rite, past president of San Luis Rey Shrine and a member of Fallbrook united Methodist Church.
Roger served as a corpsman in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War, and during the 1960s owned Rosecrans Pharmacy in San Diego, later retiring from Sav-On Drugs in 1974.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 22 years, Jean of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Michael and Andrea Murphy of Los Angeles; son and daughter-in-law Rodney and Liz Murphy of Escondido; son and daughter-in-law Steven and Alice Murphy of Huntington Beach; and daughter Barbara Madero of Oneonta, N.Y. He is also survived by his mother, Nora Duke of Mt. Pleasant, Texas; brother and sister-in-law Dan and Carole Duke of Pittsburg, Texas; grandchildren Ryyan and Courtney Murphy of Turlock, Kate and Ben Murphy of Los Angeles, Jane and Sean Murphy of Huntington Beach and Christina Reed of Oneonta, N.Y.; stepsons Bill Arthur of El Segundo and David Arthur of Colton; stepdaughter Janine Kabbash of Atlanta, Ga.; step-grandchildren Kathy and Bill Arthur of St. Louis, Brandon and Brianne Kabbash of Atlanta; also many loving nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Fallbrook United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. June 8 with the Dr. Dennis Ginoza officiating. Burial will be at the Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

Wayne M. Green II, 57
ESCONDIDO - Wayne Milton Green II, 57, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at his home.
Born July 21, 1943, in Michigan, he was a retired captain of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. He was an active member of the Emmanuel Faith Community Church and the 1961 Escondido High School Reunion Committee.
Mr. Green is survived by his wife, Claudia; daughters Robyn, Cynthia and Lynda; mother Ariel; brother Dennis; and grandson Zachary, of San Marcos and Escondido.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Emmanuel Faith Community Church to Men on a Mission Fund or Choir Fund, 639 Felicita Ave., Escondido, CA 92025.
Memorial services will be held at Emmanuel Faith Community Church at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 10. A gathering will follow at the church.

Gwendolyn DeHart, 38
VISTA - Gwendolyn Alcyne James DeHart died in her sleep, Saturday, June 2, 2001, at the age of 38.
Born in Los Angeles on March 20, 1963, she was a resident of Vista since 1973.
She dedicated her life to Jehovah God in 1979. Gwen graduated with honors from Vista High School in 1981 and was on her way to a bachelor's degree at Redlands University when the ravages of her juvenile diabetes began to impact her kidneys. Gwen James battled renal failure, dialysis, diabetic retinopathy and a brain tumor before getting a second lease on life by virtue of a kidney transplant in January 1993.
On May 15, 1993, she and Guy DeHart were marriage and their daughter, Ashlyn, was born Aug. 29, 1994.
By January 1998, kidney failure returned Gwen to dialysis and innumerable brushes with death. She finally succumbed last Saturday of diabetes/heart failure while awaiting a second kidney transplant.
Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Gordon James, on May 5, 2001, and is survived by her husband and daughter, Guy and Ashlyn; her mother, sister and brother, Carolyn, Wendy and Wesley Levant James; many aunts and uncles and many friends.
No matter what her difficulty of illness, in good time or in bad, Gwendolyn loved life. Everyone she met was instantly drawn to her by her positive attitude, magnetism, integrity and devotion to her God, Jehovah. She was loved by all and will be missed and grieved by everyone.
There will be a memorial service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 860 S. Melrose Drive, Vista, on Saturday, June 9, 2001, at 3 p.m.

Jennie Reynnett, 75
SUN CITY - Jennie A. Reynnett, 75, died Sunday, June 3, 2001, at Magnolia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Riverside of complications of aging.
Born Jan. 26, 1926 in Cabazon, N.M., she lived in Sun City for six months and in San Bernardino for 15 years. She was a parishioner of St. Bernardine's Catholic Church in San Bernardino. She graduated from Santa Monica High School and was a member of Cal State Employee Association. She worked for Pacific Telegraph in Los Angeles. She enjoyed dancing and singing in the church choir.
Mrs. Reynnett is survived by her daughter, Annette Reynnett-Anderson of Sun City, and granddaughter, Emily Anderson of Sun City.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 10 a.m. and memorial service at 11 a.m. Monday, June 11, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. with the Rev. Gerry McGuinness officiating. Interment icon will follow at noon at Menifee Valley Memorial Park.

James Phillips IV, 80
BORREGO SPRINGS - James Henry Phillips IV, 80, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born April 14, 1921, in National City, he lived in Borrego Springs for five years. He retired in 1985 from CF Braun Corp.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Robinson in 1981 and sister Eunice Phillips in 1948. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Louise Phillips of Borrego Springs; son Marc Phillips of Sunnyvale; daughter and son-in-law Natalie and Brian McQueen of Sunnyvale; stepdaughters and husbands Marietta and Tony Blandy of Valley Center, Elaine and Pat Mylod of Riva Md., and Roberta Katheiser of Escondido; sisters and brother-in-law Nancy Wilson of Ashland, Ore., Jean Nagle of Long Beach, Catherine and Gerald Wood of Escondido and Corinne Pilling of Escondido; and grandchildren Zachary, Erin, and Sam McQueen.
A memorial service will be held in November in Borrego Springs.
The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of choice.

Mable Gutshall 96
ESCONDIDO - Mable Kellenbarger Gutshall, 96, died Monday, June 7, 2001, at Oak Hill Residential Manor, of renal failure.
born Sept. 30, 1904, in Waukee, Iowa, she lived in Escondido for two months and Solana Beach for five years. She was a home economics teacher and an Iowa farm wife. She was a member of Federated Women's Club in Iowa, raised perwyian paso horses in 29 Palms and attended Solana Beach Senior Center at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Gutshall was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Kellenbarger, in 1974 and husband Forrest Gutshall, in 1985. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Lt. Col. (USMC Ret) and Mrs. Charles and Pat Kellenbarger of Solana Beach and Harry and Sheila Kellenbarger of Lincoln, Neb.; daughter Grace Frazee McKee of Red Oak, Iowa; grandchildren Phyllis, Vivian, William, Arnold, Linda, Jan, Mark, Cindy, Dawn, Jonna, Amanda and Erin; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Monday, June 18, at Solana Beach Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charlie Boss. Interment icon is scheduled for noon, Tuesday, June 12, at Walnut Cemetery in Emerson, Iowa.
The family suggests memorial donations to Solana Beach Presbyterian Church Senior Center Bus Fund, 120 Stevens Ave., Solana Beach, CA 92075.
