SAN MARCOS - Jessie "Chata" Ramirez, 61, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Aug. 4, 1939, in Escondido, she lived in San Marcos for 16 years. She was a food service worker at San Dieguito High School.
Mrs. Ramirez is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Benito and Simmi Ramirez of Fallbrook and Ricky Ramirez of California; daughters and son-in-law Mary Ramirez of San Marcos, Leti and Nathan Dysca of England, and Teresa Ramirez of Temecula; brothers and sisters-in-law Elisas and Maria Prieto, James and Nacha Prieto and Richard Prieto, all of Escondido; sisters and brothers-in-law Nellie and Eddie Nettles of Escondido, Annie and Raul Cortez of San Marcos and Catherine Calgura of Bakersfield; and six grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, June 13, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido. A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido with the Rev. Lupe Hernandez officiating.

Lawrence Ward, 77
FALLBROOK - Lawrence A. Ward, 77, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, in Escondido.
Born April 25, 1924, in Blackfoot, Idaho, he lived in Fallbrook for 46 years. He retired on June 1, 2000, as owner of Ward's Jewelers. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and spent 2 1/2 months as a prisoner of war in Germany. He retired from the Air Force in September 1963 as a major. He opened Ward's Jewelry in Idaho Falls, Idaho, in 1950 and moved the business to Fallbrook in 1955. In June 2000, his son moved the business to Bonsall. He was a member of the American Gem Society and had one of the first private gem laboratories certified by the AGS. He had been a member of the Lions Club, served as president of the Interclub Council, vice-president and president of Fallbrook Merchants Association, chairman of the ACTION committee, on the board twice and once as treasurer of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, Fallbrook Toastmasters and The Exchange Club.
Mr. Ward was preceded in death by his parents, John and Clara Ward; brother Glen Ward; and sisters Ruby Harmon and Lucile Reimann. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Ward of Fallbrook; sons and daughters-in-law George and Karen Ward of Fallbrook and David and Trish Ward of Lakewood; brothers and sisters-in-law Raymond and Myra Ward of Mission Viejo, Dan and Lonnie Ward of St. George, Utah, Koner and Dora Ward of Boise, Idaho and Lillian Ward of Escondido; sisters Evelyn Tobler of Branson, Mo., and Clarise Sessions of Boise; and grandchildren Joshua and Brianna Ward.
A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at Riverside National Cemetery with the Rev. Pat Herrell of Calvary Chapel of Fallbroook officiating.

David Dineen, 41
CORONADO - David "Chip" Dineen, 41, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, in Oceanside.
Born Aug. 30, 1959, in Milwaukee, he lived in Coronado for 15 years. He was a salesman.
Mr. Dineen is survived by his wife, Rhonda Dineen of San Diego; parents Mary and Jerry Dineen; son Jake Dineen; daughters Jennifer, Kristen, Nicollette and Bailee Dineen; brothers Jim and Matt Dineen; and sisters Sue Whisler, Cathy Jordan, Amy Love and Bridget Dineen.
North County Cremation Service is handling arrangements.

Elma Rimer, 90
OCEANSIDE - Elma L. Rimer, 90, died Tuesday, June 5, 2001, at her home of a heart attack.
Born Sept. 3, 1910, in Waverly, N.Y., she lived in Oceanside for 29 years. She had worked for the state of California.
Mrs. Rimer is survived by her son, Stanley Mallory of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter Lois Silva of Oceanside; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Carlsbad with the Rev. Walters officiating. A private graveside service at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Mass., is planned.

Paul Fain, 76
SAN DIEGO - Paul R. Fain, 76, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his home.
Born June 20, 1924, in Jay, Okla., he lived in San Diego for four years. He was self-employed in the automotive business. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Fain is survived by his daughters Angela Fain of San Diego and Linda Westwood of Alaska; brother John Fain of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

Jeanne Galloway, 69
ESCONDIDO - Jeanne Galloway, 69, died Monday, June 11, 2001.
Born Feb. 17, 1932, in New York City, she worked for See's Candy for 24 years.
Mrs. Galloway was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Galloway, in 1989. She is survived by her mother. Margaret Bell of Escondido; father Andrew Koval; daughters and son-in-law Joanne and John Nelson of Escondido and Stacy Laven of Escondido; sister Penny Anderson of Whittier; grandchildren Carrie and Scott Laven; and her dog Waldi.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

Gloria Criswell, 74
TEMECULA - Gloria M. Criswell, 74, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Lydia's Home Care of cancer.
Born July 8, 1926, in Burlington, Vt., she lived in Temecula for three years. She was a real estate investor.
Mrs. Criswell is survived by her sons, Frank Aglie of Temecula, Larry Frank of Applegate, Ore., and Chuck Criswell of Oak Hills; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Stout Family Funeral Home with the Rev. Clark Van Wick officiating. A private interment will be at Rosehills Cemetery in Whittier.

Cecil Weaver, 87
TEMECULA - Cecil Howard Weaver, 87, died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Ember Care in Perris.
Born Dec. 20, 1913, in Brushy Knob, Mo., he lived in Temecula for five years and Garden Grove and Whittier for 42 years. He had been a representative for Johnston Oil Field Service for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a second lieutenant. He was a member of the Elks in Whittier, a Mason Scottish Rite of Garden Grove, a Shriner and a Noble at Al Malaikah Temple.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife of 59 years, Evelyn Weaver of Temecula, and son Rick Weaver of Temecula.
A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, June 15, at Hope Lutheran Church.

Teresa Tobin, 54
TEMECULA - Teresa Tobin, 54, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Rancho Springs Medical Center of cardiopulmonary arrest.
Born Feb. 28, 1947, in Los Angeles, she lived in Temecula for 38 years.
Ms. Tobin was preceded in death by her father, "Tony" Tobin, on May 20, 2001. She is survived by her mother, Mildred Tobin of Temecula; brother Gene Tobin of Temecula; and sister Donna Tobin of New Mexico.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Stout Family Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, June 13, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Temecula Cemetery.

Robyn Vanlerberghe, 46
MURRIETA - Robyn Ann Vanlerberghe, 46, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at her home of cancer.
Born Nov. 9, 1954, in Long Beach, she lived in Murrieta for 12 years. She was a volunteer teacher at the Braille Institute in Anaheim. She was a creative artist and loved to dance and hike.
Ms. Vanlerberghe is survived by her mother and father, DeNiece and James Vanlerberghe of Murrieta; sister Michele Huddleston of Riverside; and brother-in-law Michael Huddleston of Riverside and her dog, Mr. Benson.
A celebration of life is planned for Thursday, June 21, at a park in Orange County by invitation.
The family suggests memorial donations in Robyn's name to Southern California Transplantation Institute Research Fund, 4000 14th St., Suite 512, Riverside, CA 92501.

Andrew Zinniger, 88
ENCINITAS - Andrew Zinniger, 88, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his home of cancer.
Born Oct. 18, 1912, in Omer, Mich., he lived in Encinitas for 55 years. He retired in 1978 from San Dieguito Union High School District. Before working for the school district, he had his own cement masonry business. He was one of the founding members of St. John's Catholic Church. He had been a coach with Little League.
Mr. Zinniger is survived by his wife of 57 years, Virginia Zinniger of Encinitas; sons and daughters-in-law Richard and Mary Zinniger of Torrence and Thomas and Lisa Zinniger of San Marcos; daughters and sons-in-law Virginia and Patrick Clarke of Oceanside, Mary and Richard Shell of Oceanside and Joan and Ernie Southwell of Vista; brother Lou Zinniger of Oceanside; sister and brother-in-law Margaret and George Shipp of Murrieta; grandchildren Andy, Sam, Peter, Mike and Mark Zinniger, Bernadette Kassa, Theresa and Christine Clarke, Jason Lemoine, Adrienne, Glenn Raymond and Randi Southwell and Amy and Eric Zinniger; and two great-grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. and Mass celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, June 15, at St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Moore officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Vitas Hospice Charitable Fund, 8880 Rio San Diego Drive, San Diego, CA 92108.

Wayne Lee Cotter
Loved ones mourn the loss of Wayne Lee Cotter, 49, who lost the war with death on June 4, 2001.
He was a native son, having made his first appearance on April 8, 1952, at Balboa Naval Hospital.
During the Vietnam War, he spent 40 months in South East Asia, bringing home numerous decorations including the Presidential Unit Commendation.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Diane Cotter, his three children, Christopher, Danielle, and Eric Cotter; also a brother, Wade Cotter, all of Escondido. He also leaves a father, Henry Cotter of Mississippi; mother and brother Norma Enright and Warren Cotter of Illinois; and a sister Wendy Morgan of Tennessee.
A private family memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, June 16, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido.
Later in the month, a celebration of Wayne's life will be held at the home he loved and shared with is wife. Friends will be notified of the exact time.

Beatrice Klentschy, 86
TEMECULA - Beatrice M. Klentschy, 86, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at Rancho Springs Medical Center of cancer.
Born Jan. 29, 1915, in Lawrence, Mass., she lived in Temecula for 11 years. She was an independent Avon representative for 39 years.
Mrs. Klentschy is survived by her son Michael Klentschy; daughter Mary Franz of Temecula; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Private services are planned.

Leonard Pigott, 83
WILLIAMSPORT, Md. - Leonard Davies Pigott, 83, died Friday, June 1, 2001, at Washington County Hospital.
Born June 5, 1917, in San Antonio, Texas, he was previously from Oceanside. He was a 1933 graduate of Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas. He graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. and received his bachelor's degree in 1949. He received his master's degree from UCLA in 1964. He retired in 1976 as an information specialist for the chief of police for the city of Los Angeles. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of AARP, Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion of Oceanside.
Mr. Pigott was preceded in death by his brothers, Arthur W. Pigott Jr., and Raymond L. Pigott. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy Taylor Brockman Pigott; and sister Eloise Palmer of Kerrville, Texas.
No formal services are planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 5 Public Square, Hagerstown, MD 21740 or to Williamsport Ambulance Service, 30 W. Salisbury St., Williamsport, MD 21795.

Alice Harvey, 75
OCEANSIDE - Alice Harvey, 75, died Friday, June 8, 2001, at Life Care Center in Vista.
Born March 26, 1926, in Chelsea, Mass., she lived in Oceanside for 33 years. She was retired from Bank of America and was a member of Elks Emblem Club, serving two terms as an officer.
Mrs. Harvey is survived by her husband of 52 years, Gerry Harvey of Oceanside; sons William G. Harvey Jr. of Pittsboro, N.C., and Russell E. Harvey of Cranford, N.J.; daughter Debra Ann Allen of San Marcos; brother William H. Curtis Jr. of Lynn, Mass.; sister Eleanor Bonnano of Framingham, Mass.; grandchildren Victoria, Vannesa, Matthew, Russell and Louis; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Wednesday, June 20, at San Luis Rey Mission Church with the Rev. Michel Gagnon officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations to Mission San Luis Rey, 4070 Mission Ave., Oceanside, CA 92057 or Odyssey Health Care, 9444 Balboa Ave., Suite 290, San Diego, CA 92123.
