Born Sept. 9, 1911, in East Orange, N.J., she lived in Oceanside.
Mrs. Shaw is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A private burial is planned at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Cleone Rasmussen, 85
VISTA - Cleone Rasmussen, 85, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, in El Cajon.
Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Minnesota, she lived in Vista for 28 years. She retired in 1989 from Vista Unified School District after 28 years. She was a member of Inner City Baptist Church in San Diego for more than 50 years.
Ms. Rasmussen was preceded in death by her brother, Harold Rasmussen in 1989. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law June and Tom Saporito of Carrabella, Fla., and Helen Looney of El Cajon; niece Joy Hines of El Cajon; and nephew Nick Saporito of Carrabella.
A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Inner City Baptist Church in San Diego with the Rev. Jimmie Hubbard officiating.

Paul Blair, 89
ESCONDIDO - Paul D. Blair, 89, died Tuesday, June 26, 2001, of natural causes.
Born July 8, 1911, in Dayton, Ohio, he lived in Escondido for 44 years. He was a design engineer for 44 years and a member of the First Congregational Church of Escondido.
Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Eloise Blair, in 1997. He is survived by his daughter, Paulette Blair Funderburk of Escondido; grandchildren Donna Gayman of Las Vegas and Terri Amstone of Layton, Utah; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, July 9, 2001, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. A private cremation is planned.

Charles Nelson, 72
MEDFORD, Ore. - Charles Nelson, died Sunday, June 17, 2001.
Born Nov. 8, 1928, in San Fernando, he was a former resident of Oceanside. He graduated from Oceanside - Carlsbad High School in 1946, and from USC in 1956 as a civil engineer. He served in the U.S. Army with the 11th Airborne during World War II, serving with the occupation forces and in the Korean War.
Mr. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margret Nelson. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Geraldine; daughters Rhonda Walters and Lori Nelson; son Karl Nelson; brothers Jim Nelson and Tom Nelson, both of Carlsbad; and two grandchildren.
A military graveside service was held Friday, June 22, at Eagle Point National Cemetery in Eagle Point, Ore., with the family officiating.

Brian Creighton, 55
ESCONDIDO - Brian Arthur Creighton, 55, died Monday, June 25, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 12, 1945, in San Diego and lived in Escondido for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam in the First Artillery.
Mr. Creighton is survived by his mother Elma Hoss of Escondido; son, Ben Creighton; daughters Amber Yoder of Ridgecrest and Heather Creighton of Poway.
Private services for the family will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in September.
Eugene Walker, 80
Exeter - Eugene Everett Walker, 80, died Monday, June 25, 2001, in Visalia.
Born March 18, 1921, in Lumber City, Ga., he worked in civil service at Camp Pendleton Marine Base for 30 years. He received his education at Clear Water, Fla., and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Exeter.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Lorraine Warren Newell Walker of Exeter; mother Vera Bird of Santa Barbara; son Ed Walker of Yucaipa; daughters Genie Postma and Debbie Walker, both of San Bernardino; stepsons Wesley and Warren Newell Jr., both of Alaska; stepdaughter Jeanne Ross of Roseville; sisters Dorothy Wilkerson of Santa Barbara and Martha Cook of Georgia; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 4, at Smith Family Chapel in Exeter. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at Exeter District Cemetery.

Rose Azarello, 89
ESCONDIDO - Rose T. Azarello, 89, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at Villa Monte Vista Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Born Jan. 12, 1912, in Buffalo, N.Y., she lived in Escondido for nine years.
Mrs. Azarello is survived by her husband of 69 years, Joseph A. Azarello of Escondido; sons and daughter-in-law Thomas and Sharon Azarello of La Mesa and Joseph Azarello of San Diego; daughter and son-in-law Marlene and Norm Rauch of Poway; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service was held Monday, June 25.

Stephen Daniels, 59
CARLSBAD - Stephen Thomas Daniels, 59, died Friday, June 28, 2001, at home of cancer.
Born Jan. 26, 1942, in Boston, he lived in Carlsbad for 43 years. He was the owner and operator of Cable Ready Systems. He served in the U.S. Marine during Vietnam.
Mr. Daniels was preceded in death by his father, John A. Daniels, in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Candice J. Daniels of Carlsbad; mother Margaret Daniels of Carlsbad; son Stephen T. Daniels Jr., of Carlsbad; daughters Charisse M. Brunou of Carlsbad and Stephanie I. Daniels of Carlsbad; sisters and brothers-in-law Theresa "Peg" and James Reid, Nora and Bruno Gardiner of Carlsbad, Catherine Walsh of Carlsbad and brother-in-law Harold Walsh of Boston; grandchildren Christian and Michael.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 5, at Eternal Hills Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Carlsbad, followed by interment at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Oceanside.

Joyce Schutt, 69
SUN CITY - Joyce B. Schutt, 69, died Thursday, June 28, 2001, at her home.
Born July 3, 1931, in Oak Park, Minn., she lived in Sun City for 11 years. She had lived in Cypress from 1965 to 1978 and in Ventura County from 1978 to 1990. She owned and operated a child-care center in Lake Elsinore for 11 years. She had worked for Giser Tool Co. in Ventura as an office manager for more than 20 years.
Mrs. Schutt is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Castens of Lake Stevens, Wash., and Lynore Coppick of Wildomar; son Stephen Close of Fountain Valley; brothers Eugene Herbert of Foreston, Minn., and Gerald Herbert of Santa Cruz; three granddaughters; and two grandsons.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 2, at Elsinore Valley Cemetery in Lake Elsinore. A memorial service will follow at 1 p.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Perris.

Johnny Chavez, 19
LA JOLLA INDIAN RESERVATION - Johnny James Chavez, 19, died Thursday, June 21, as a result of a car accident near Pala.
Born March 18, 1982, in Escondido, he lived on the La Jolla Indian Reservation. He was a member of the La Jolla Indians and worked with his father as a landscaper.
Mr. Chavez is survived by his parents, Sergio and Terry Chavez of La Jolla Indian Reservation; fiance and mother of his unborn child, Alma Torres of La Jolla Indian Reservation; brother and sister-in-law Anthony and Pamela Chavez of the Pala Indian Reservation; sisters and brothers-in-law Christina Chavez of the Pala Indian Reservation; Sophia and Thomas Roberts, Suzanna Chavez; Melissa and Sandro Garcia and Valeria and Salbador Contreras, all of the La Jolla Indian Reservation; grandparents Jim and Shirley Harris of the La Jolla Indian Reservation; seven uncles; six aunts; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation and viewing was held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 29, at La Jolla Indian Reservation and Harolds Road. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, June 30, at La Jolla Indian Reservation and Harolds Road. Interment
will follow.

Frank Campbell Trumble
Captain, USMC, Retired
1915 - 2001
Frank C. Trumble, 85, a resident of Carlsbad, for more than 40 years, passed away at the Tri-City Medical Center on May 26, 2001, after a long illness. Mr. Trumble was born Nov. 5, 1915, in Amsterdam, N.Y., to Frank Curtis Trumble and the former Elizabeth Jane Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Lucille Cherry, and four children, Frank E. Trumble of Oceanside, Diane McDaniel Harvey of Louisiana, Deborah Moultrie of American Fork, Utah, and Doreen Gilley of Lawton, Okla. Two sons, Scott Campbell Trumble and Craig Louis Trumble, preceded their father in death. Mr. Trumble also left three stepchildren, Michael Cherry of Coldwater, Mich., Thomas Cherry of Bellevue, Wash., and Stephen Cherry of Kennewick, Wash. Surviving Mr. Trumble, too, are 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Frank was graduated from the Winnwood School in Lake Grove Long Island, N.Y., in 1934 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps on May 1, 1935. He saw active duty in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Among other assignments during the Korean Conflict, he served with the First Marine Division at the Chosin Reservoir. Included among his 14 decorations and citations were the Navy Cross, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Purple Heart and the China Service Medal. Frank Trumble retired as a captain on June 30, 1957.
After his retirement from active duty, Captain Trumble worked as a Marine Corps exchange administrator at bases in Barstow, El Toro and Camp Pendleton. Frank retired from that profession in June 1985, and spent much of his retirement pursuing his passions of photography and fishing. He was an avid reader and was determined to understand and master his home computer. Frank Trumble belonged to the Vista Masonic Lodge, Shrine (Al Bar Temple), Oceanside Elks Lodge, Sojourners, Chosin Few, Warrant Officers Association, Navy League, Retired Officers Association and the Mustangs.
A memorial service to celebrate Frank C. Trumble's life and accomplishments will be held at the Marine Memorial Chapel on Camp Pendleton at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6. It is suggested that any gifts in Frank's memory be directed to the charity or health care organization of your choice.
Irving Fuhr, 94
OCEANSIDE - Irving Harold Fuhr, 94, died Monday, June 18, 2001, at his home of heart failure.
Born Aug. 22, 1906, in New York, he lived in Oceanside for 30 years. He retired in 1969 as a union painter supervisor. He enjoyed dancing at the senior center.
Mr. Fuhr was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Fuhr; son Marvin Fuhr; and granddaughter Jillian Carlisto. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Vadis Fuhr of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Thelma and Jack Carlisto of Alhambra; grandchildren Sheri and Bart Rice, John and Jan Carlisto, Brian and Christie Carlisto, Karen and Edward Henretta and Jim and Leanor Carlisto; and four great-grandchildren.
No formal services will be held at the request of the deceased. A family memorial service will be held in December.

Kristin Bridgman, 28
CASTRO VALLEY - Kristin Marie Bridgman, 28, died Sunday, June 24, 2001, at her home of bulimia and anorexia which she had since the age of 15.
Born July 10, 1972, in Winfield, Ill., she lived in Castro Valley for two years. She had lived in Escondido and San Marcos from 1996 to 1999. She worked as a medical assistant while living in North County. She lived in Tustin from 1973 to 1983 and attended school in Castro Valley which she graduated from in 1990. She was a cheerleader during her four years of high school. She attended Lake Chabot Jr. College.
Ms. Bridgman is survived by her mother, Deanna Nunes of Castro Valley; father and stepmother Dick and Joan Bridgman of Escondido; brothers Daniel Bridgman of San Diego and Andrew Bridgman of Ohio; stepbrothers Dave Kinder of Battleground, Wash., Robert Kinder of Rancho Bernardo and Jeremy Kinder of Roseburg, Ore.
Viewing was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, at Chapel of the Valley Mortuary in Castro Valley. Her cremains will be scattered at sea.
Bryan Ashley, 43
VISTA - Bryan Michael Ashley, 43, died Sunday, June 17, 2001, in Oceanside.
Born March 19, 1958, in Pasadena, he lived in Vista for 12 years. He worked for Deepsea Power and Light in San Diego. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous in Carlsbad and Oceanside. He was a graduate of Palomar College in San Marcos.
Mr. Ashley is survived by his wife, Hedi Ashley of Chicago; mother Bobbee Kjellin of Vista; stepfather Jack Kjellin of Vista; father Frank L. Ashley Sr., of Yucca Valley; son Dylan R. Ashley of Chicago; daughter Danille B. Ashley; brothers Greg Ashley of Los Angeles and Mark Ashley of Riverside; and sister Carrie Ashley Lovio of Vista.

OCEANSIDE - Margery Lucille Walter, 80, died Sunday, June 24, 2001.
Born Jan. 15, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio, she lived in Oceanside for 47 years. She was retired from the Oceanside School District and served two terms on the Oceanside School Board. She was a member of the friends of Oceanside Library, Assistance League of North Coast, Oceanside Women's Club, League of Women Voters and the American Association of University Women.
Mrs. Walter was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bob Bear. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harry Walter of Oceanside; son John Walter of San Diego; daughter Barbara Kitrick of Bakersfield; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service is scheduled for noon, Saturday, June 30, at the Grace Chapel of the Coast. A private interment will be held at Riverside National Cemetery.

Charles Smith, 86
OCEANSIDE - Charles Baldwin Smith, 86, died Monday, June 25, 2001.
Born March 20, 1915, in Fullerton, he lived in Oceanside for 24 years. He worked at Arco Welding products. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Pico Rivera, the Elks Hunting Park Lodge, Elks Oceanside and the Good Sams Motor Home Club of Escondido.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Marie J. Smith, on Dec. 30, 1989. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Ray and Shirleen Smith of Canyonville, Ore.; stepdaughter and her husband, Charlotte and Ron DuGuay of Oceanside; seven grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
