ESCONDIDO - Stephen Shandor, 94, died Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Beverly Manor in Escondido.
Born May 15, 1905, in Czechoslovakia, he lived in Escondido for the last year and in San Diego for 24 years. He worked for Mayer Pollack Steel Co. in Pennsylvania before retiring and served in the U.S. military during World War II.
Mr. Shandor is survived by numerous nephews and nieces in Pennsylvania.
Inurnment will take place at a later date at Holy Trinity Cemetery in Stowe, Pa.

Jayne Jordan, 75
OCEANSIDE - Jayne Jordan, 75, died Monday, Feb. 28, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1924, in Pennsylvania, she lived in Vista for 50 years. She was vice president of Jordan's Upholstery and a homemaker.
Mrs. Jordan is survived by her husband, James C. Jordan Sr.; daughters and sons-in-law, Julia and Jim Shriver of Carlsbad, Hannah and Eric Chang of Vista and Sarah Jordan of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law James C. Jr. and Christina Jordan and Andrew Jordan of Vista; sister Betty Molin of Pennsylvania; and grandchildren Cassandra, Peyton, Daniel, Nicholas, Baelee and Chase.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at North Coast church in Vista. A reception will follow. Burial will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Anne Evans, 83
OCEANSIDE - Anne Podolak Evans, 83, died Saturday, March 4, 2000, at her home.
Born Dec. 26, 1916, in Delaware, she lived in Oceanside for 13 years. She was a homemaker for 43 years.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Walt and Debra Evans of Oceanside; brother George Melonchuk of Ridley Park, Pa.; and grandchildren Ellis, Ryan and Brianne Evans, all of Oceanside.
Viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Eternal Hills Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Steve Podolak officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Chester Rural Cemetery in Chester, Pa.

Leonard Volpe, 73
MURRIETA - Leonard Peter Volpe, 73, died Friday, March 3, 2000, of diabetes mellitus.
Born Feb. 4, 1927, in Pittsfield, Mass., he lived in Murrieta for two years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years.
Mr. Volpe is survived by his wife, Alice Volpe of Murrieta; sons John Volpe of Temecula and Leonard Volpe Jr. of Murrieta; daughters Dianne Carlson of Hampstead, N.H., and Alice Duquette of Poway; brother Ernest Volpe of Brockton, Mass.; sister Rose Goddord of Plymouth, Mass.; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held and a rosary recited on Monday, March 6, at Valley Funeral Home. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. today, March 7, at St. Martha's Catholic Church in Murrieta. Burial will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 3.

Harry Pedersen, 76
ESCONDIDO - Harry Pedersen, 76, died Tuesday, Feb. 29, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Nov. 17, 1923, in Chicago, he lived in Escondido for thirty-three years. He was a maintenance supervisor and locksmith for Escondido Union High School District and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, earning a Good Conduct Medal, European Theatre Campaign Medal and a Meritorious Unit Commendation.
Mr. Pedersen is survived by his wife of 55 years, Gloria A. Pedersen of Escondido; sons and daughters-in-law Mark T. and Sue Pedersen and John G. Pedersen, all of Escondido, and Terry A. and JoEllen Pedersen of Spicewood, Texas; sister Lorraine Carlson of Phoenix; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held and a rosary recited Thursday, March 2, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, March 3, at the Church of the Resurrection. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

John Fostvedt, 84
RANCHO BERNARDO - John Albert Fostvedt, 84, died Sunday, Feb. 27, 2000, at Casa de las Campanas in Rancho Bernardo.
Born Oct. 9, 1915, in Hoboken, N.J., he lived in the San Diego area for 25 years. He was an air traffic controller before retiring and served in the U.S. Coast Guard as a 2nd class radioman from 1934 to 1940.
Mr. Fostvedt is survived by his wife of 27 years, Norma Fostvedt of Rancho Bernardo; stepson Robert Fostvedt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; stepson Roger Hamilton of Santa Rosa; brother Bob Fostvedt of Lake Peasant, N.Y.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos, with Dr. Charley Talley officiating. Inurnment will take follow.

ESCONDIDO - Iva Elsie "Posie" Albright, 86, died Friday, March 3, 2000, at a local hospital.
Born Oct. 31, 1913, in South Zanesville, Ohio, she lived in Escondido for nine years. She was a homemaker for 64 years.
Mrs. Albright is survived by her daughters, Dorothy M. Thomas of San Marcos, June Burnham and Ginger Sawyer, both of Chugiak, Alaska; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, San Marcos Chapel. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, March 10, at Mountain View Memorial Park in Barstow, with the Rev. Ronald Sharp officiating. Burial will follow.

Lorraine Calvert, 71
WEST VANCOUVER, British Columbia - Lorraine Lindeman Calvert, 71, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at her home in Vancouver.
Born March 15, 1928, in Long Beach, she lived in Vista for 21 years. She was a 1946 graduate of Vista High School and a 1948 graduate of Palomar College.
Mrs. Calvert was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Davidson. She is survived by her daughters, Pamela Calvert and Catherine Hart; brother James Lindeman; sister Barbara Sykes; grandson Malcolm Gustafson; nephews John Roche and Steven Lindeman; and nieces Stacy Moultrie and Tracy Lindeman.
A private memorial service will be held Monday, March 20, in Victoria, British Columbia.

Angelo Buffone, 87
OCEANSIDE - Angelo Frank Buffone, 87, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, in Vista.
Born Oct. 9, 1912, in Worcester, Mass., he lived in Oceanside for 20 years. He was a plumber with Plumbers Union Local No. 4 in Worcester before retiring and served as a supply staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He served in the National Guard for 15 years and was a member of the Lions Club, Legion of Mary, and was a Boy Scout leader in Worcester.
Mr. Buffone was preceded in death by his wife, Serena Norris Buffone, in 1999. He is survived by his sons, John Buffone of Redondo Beach and Richard Buffone of Jefferson, Mass.; daughter Janice Weits of Oceanside; brothers Dominic Buffone, George Buffone and Robert Buffone, all of Worcester; sisters Sophia Corron, Irene Borowy, Christina Swenson and Rita Czechowski, all of Worcester; and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be held and a rosary recited from 4 to 8 p.m. today, March 8, at Oceanside Mortuary Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 9, at Mission San Luis Rey Chapel, with the Rev. Michel Gagnon officiating. Burial will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.

VALLEY CENTER - Thomas R. Frankovich, 68, died Monday, March 6, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born July 8, 1931, in Hammond, Ind., he lived in Valley Center for six years. He was a self-employed general contractor in construction and served in the U.S. Army in Korea.
Mr. Frankovich is survived by his wife of 48 years, Alberta Frankovich of Valley Center; son Bruce Frankovich of San Marcos; daughters Leslie Hilton of Jacksonville, Fla., and Janet Osborne of Escondido; brother Terry Frankovich of Hessville, Ind.; sister Joyce Sechar of Hessville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 11, at Hide-Away Lakes Club House in Valley Center. A private cremation is planned.

OCEANSIDE - Marguerite Florence Pfirrmann, 83, died Sunday, March 5, 2000, at an Oceanside convalescent home.
Born May 7, 1916, in Glendale, she lived in Oceanside for three years. She owned and operated Orange County Plumbing for 22 years and was a member of the Boots & Saddle Club in Costa Mesa.
Mrs. Pfirrmann is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law, Don and Laraine Pfirrmann of Oceanside and Edward Pfirrmann of Anza; daughter and son-in-law Beverly and Dick Overby of Breckenridge, Colo.; sister Constance Delaney of Glendale; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 9, at Forest Lawn, Glendale's Little Church of the Flowers, with the Rev. Earl; McCallum officiating. Interment

Mrs. Fahnestock is survived by her husband of 27 years, Robert Vernon Fahnestock Sr. of Vista; son Robert Vernon Fahnestock Jr. of Sandy Ridge; daughter Anne Cherrier of Vista; and grandchildren Tamara Anne Cherrier and Faye Lynn Cherrier.

Born Aug. 11, 1950, at Great Lakes Naval Hospital in Illinois, he lived in San Diego County for 38 years.
Mr. Erickson was preceded in death by his father, Glenn R. Erickson. He is survived by his mother, Marilyn Erickson of Rancho Bernardo; brother Brian Erickson of Poway; sisters Karen English of Idaho, Janet Hogan of Georgia and Lorri Wright of Escondido; four nephews; and two nieces.

Born Oct. 24, 1955, in London, he lived in Escondido for 30 years. He worked for Sherman Williams.
Mr. Hendricks is survived by his companion, Crystal Mayfield of Escondido; mother and stepfather Mariette and Ronald Selkovitch of Ramona; brother Pierre Hendricks; and stepgrandmother Rose Selkovitch.
Burial will take place at Eagletail Wilderness Garden in Tonopah, Ariz., where cremains will be scattered.
