VISTA - Ernest Lloyd Hunt Jr., 67, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born March 8, 1933, in Clarendon, Texas, he lived in Vista for 33 years. He was a self-employed attorney for 40 years and served in the U.S. Navy in Korea. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge 700 in Clarendon, past president of the Boys & Girls Club of Vista, past president of the Northern San Diego County Bar Association and a member of Vista Rotary Club.
Mr. Hunt is survived by his wife, Dara Hunt of Vista; son John Hunt of Saratoga; daughter Katherine Gitzgerald of San Jose; sister Louva Agnes Hunt of Clarendon; and one grandchild.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at Community Church of Vista, with the Rev. Douglas Regin officiating. A private cremation is planned with cremains to be scattered at sea.

FALLBROOK - Thomas Hugh Clements, 87, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born Dec. 21, 1912, in Nebraska, he lived in Fallbrook for two years. He was an aviation inspector for North American for 35 years and served in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Clements was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Clements; and five sisters. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Douglas H. Clements of Fallbrook and Thomas M. Clements of Long Beach; daughter Stephanie J. Adams of Long Beach; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private family memorial service is planned.

FRESNO - Leon M. Jonker, 89, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, in Clovis.
Born Oct. 11, 1910, in Rotterdam, Holland, he lived in Fresno and previously lived in El Cajon for 25 years. He was a graduate of Pasadena High School and the owner of Oceanside Nursery and Florist from 1945 to 1965, Frank Palay Flowers in Beverly Hills from 1966 to 1974, Beautilities in San Diego and Tri-Card Pool Tables in El Cajon. He was co-owner of Grieve and Jonker Flowers in Pasadena, salesman for Olhausen Billiards, general manager of Wilcox, Veteto and Thill Real Estate in Oceanside from 1965 to 1966. He served as president of the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce in 1962 and was a member of the Oceanside Rotary Club. He served as a flight instructor in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a Paul Harris Fellow and a member of the Pasadena Mounted Police.
Mr. Jonker was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Jonker; and his brother, William Jonker. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Kathy Meacham of San Marcos and Dr. Tony and Debbie Jonker of Fresno; daughters and sons-in-law Mary and Bill McPherson of Valley Center; stepdaughters and stepson-in-law Linda and Royce Walkenhorst of Bonita and Kay Sporleder of El Cajon; sister Catherine Higbee of Palmdale; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. today, March 16, at El Cajon Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, March 17, at El Cajon Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Mike Mitschke officiating.

POWAY - Irene K. Norton, 88, died Monday, March 13, 2000, of congestive heart failure, at Pomerado Hospital.
Born March 16, 1911, in Grand Rapids, Mich., she lived in Poway. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Norton was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd M. Norton, in 1979. She is survived by her son, Larry N. Norton of Evergreen, Colo.; daughter Shirley N. Kenney of Poway; sisters and brother-in-law Mildred F. Konle of Grand Rapids and Janet and Lee Lunderville of Port Angeles, Wash.; grandchildren Mark, Brian, Anne, Michelle, Gregory, Matthew, Todd, Amy and Julie; and great-grandchildren Alex, Zachary, Sarah, Ryan, Rachel, Hannah and Gavin.

GREENBUSH, Michigan - Commander Joseph R. DeView, USN (Ret), 72, died Saturday, March 11, 2000, at his home in Greenbush, from a brain tumor.
Born Feb. 13, 1928, in Flint, Mich., he had lived in Fallbrook and Poway. He was the former commander of the Fallbrook Naval Weapons Station from 1971 to 1977 and was a member of the Fallbrook Rotary Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars and St. Peter's Catholic Church. He earned a bachelor of science degree in education from Central Michigan University. He received the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal, United Nations Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation.
Commander DeView is survived by his wife, Sue DeView; sons Michael DeView, Daniel DeView and Matthew DeView; daughters Angela DeView, Donna Bernardy and Beth DeView; four stepchildren and their families; and nine grandchildren.

JULIAN - Eleanor F. Phelps, 77, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, at her home.
Born Aug. 6, 1922, in San Diego, she lived in Julian for 21 years. She graduated from Point Loma High School and attended San Diego State. She was a member of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church in Julian, singing in the choir, a member of the Guild of Our Lady, a Professed Tertiary of the Secular Order of the Discalced Carmelites, St. Joseph Fraternity, San Diego, and a member of Lincoln Demming American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post of Julian.
Mrs. Phelps is survived by her husband of 52 years, Captain Hank Phelps of Julian; son Matthew Phelps of Ramona; daughters Michele Phelps of Julian, Nan Phelps of Berkeley and Anne Phelps Schnapp of Ramona; brother John Forward of Eureka; sister Adele Hemgren of Penn Valley; and eight grandchildren.
A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m., with a funeral Mass following at 11 a.m. Friday, March 17, at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church of Julian. A committal service and burial will take place at Haven of Rest Cemetery in Julian. Refreshments will be served at the parish hall following the committal.

Born July 16, 1929, in North Plainfield, N.J., he lived in Escondido for 11 years. He was an auto salesman for 25 years before retiring.
Mr. Rinker is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Rebecca and Carl Heath of Illinois and Connie and Ron Betenbough of Texas; brother Robert Rinker of New Jersey; sisters and brother-in-law Leona Picca and Delores and Herb Locklin, both of Northern California; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Robert Wright, 75
VISTA - Robert Keith Wright, 75, died Wednesday, March 8, 2000, of aspiration pneumonia, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born July 17, 1923, in Tompkins Township, Warren County, Ill., he lived in Vista for 45 years. He retired from Prudential Insurance Co. on June 1, 1976. He served as pump station operator with the 784th Army Engineers in Africa and Cologne, France, during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II, and with the U.S. Army from Jan. 7, 1943, until Dec. 2, 1945. He worked for San Diego Gas & Electric and established the Wright Brothers general contracting business. He was a member of the Oceanside Seventh-day Adventist Church, serving as first elder, coordinator of the Shepherding program, teacher of a Sabbath School class, and helping with the building program.
Mr. Wright is survived by his wife of 56 years, Rose Ann Wright of Vista; sons and daughters-in-law Robert K. Jr. and Jane Wright of Lampasas, Texas, and Richard Lee and Sandee Wright of Candler, N.C.; daughter and son-in-law Patricia Ann and Ralph Pakis of Vista; brother and sister-in-law Homer and Melva Wright of Priest River, Idaho; and grandchildren Aimee Noelle Wright Patterson and Travis Patterson, Stacee Lynne Wright and Carol Joanna Wright.

Born April 3, 1908, in New York, she lived in Escondido for the last 20 years. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection Community serving as a Eucharistic minister, a lector and a member of the Legion of Mary.
Ms. McGuire is survived by her only daughter, Carol Jean Pollina of Tucson, Ariz., and her grandchildren; Marietta, Victoria, Charles and Elizabeth.

Born June 21, 1915, in Boston she was a resident of Rancho Bernardo for 25 years. She had worked in Guam.
Ms. Juster is survived by her husband of 47 years, Norbert Juster of Rancho Bernardo; brother Joseph Cody of Bourne, Mass., sister Helen Lewis of Somerville, Mass., numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial Mass took place on Friday, March 17 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Escondido. There will be a private family burial at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
