SAN MARCOS -- Robert E. Berry, 87, died Thursday, March 16, 2000.

Born Sept. 22, 1912, in Shreve, Ohio, he was a resident of San Diego County for 42 years. He was in the grocery business for 40 years, most recently with Ashley's Market in Rancho Santa Fe. He was a member of the National Guard during WW II. He was the president of the Shuffleboard Club and belonged to bowling, golf and card playing clubs at the San Marcos View Estates Mobile Park. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos.

Mr. Berry is survived by his wife of 22 years Helen Berry of San Marcos; sons Stephen Berry of San Marcos, Robert Berry of Petaluma; daughters Linda Keehan, Karen Long and Sandy Brown all of Encinitas; step-daughters Joyce Tautrim of Garden Grove, Diane Flora of Oceanside and Carol Ray of Astoria, Ore., eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A private family memorial service and cremation is planned.

LAKE SAN MARCOS -- Jack R. Seyler, 73, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his residence.

Born May 6, 1926 in Chillicothe, Mo., he was a resident of Lake San Marcos for 9 years. He retired from Pennwalt in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II in the South Pacific. He grew up in Galesburg, Ill., and graduated from Bradley University, Peoria, Ill. He was a member of Meadowlark Community Church.

Mr. Seyler is survived by his wife of 29 years, Marilyn Seyler of Lake San Marcos; step-daughter Debra Thiele of Bushnell, Ill., and five grandchildren.

The family suggests memorial donations to Meadowlark Community Church, 1918 Redwing St., San Marcos, CA 92069.

N.C. Cremation Service is handling the arrangements.

John Lewis, 91

OCEANSIDE -- John Lewis, 91, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at his residence.

Born Aug. 17, 1908, in Oklahoma he was a resident of Oceanside for 50 years. He was a retired teacher with the Oceanside School District.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife Ocie Lee Lewis in 1998. He is survived by his nephew Lee Griffin and wife Debbie of Oceanside; niece Ann Parker of Oklahoma; great nieces Connie Mignery of Oklahoma, Deana Griffin of Oceanside, Anilee Griffin of Oceanside and great-great niece Cassie Mignery of Oklahoma.

A graveside service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with interment following.

Anne Elizabeth Riddell, 81

VISTA -- Anne Elizabeth Riddell, 81, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000 in a local hospital.

Born May 29, 1918, in Oakland she was formerly of Oceanside. She was a teacher at Mira Costa College for 21 years. She belonged to the Alpha Phi Sorority at the University of California at Berkeley, a member of the St. Ann's Church in Oceanside, the Grace Presbyterian Church in Vista and a member of the Vista Women's Club.

Mrs. Riddell is survived by her husband Francis Glen Riddell of Vista; son David Thomson of Alderpoint; daughter Jan Corbett of Columbia Falls, Mont., step-daughters Carol Soria of Santa Fe Springs, Glenda Legakes of Las Vegas; numerous other step-children and numerous grandchildren.

A private cremation and scattering at sea is planned.

Merritt Hanson, 97

SUN CITY - Merritt Allen Hanson died Thursday, March 16, 2000, at Harvest Moon Board & Care in Murrieta. Born Jan. 22, 1903, he lived in Sun City for four years. He was 97.

Mr. Hanson was the owner of Hanson Trailer Storage in Pineline Park, Fla., for five years. He was a farmer in Holabrid, S.D., for 15 years. He was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Sun City. He loved to fish.

Mr. Hanson is survived by his daughter, Marlene of Sun City; brother Virgil of Sun City; and sister Opal McDermott of Brookings, S.D.

Mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church in Sun City at 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 20. Inurnment will be private at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Highmore, S.D.

Dean Dyer, 76
WILDOMAR - Dean Melvin Dyer, 76, died Thursday, March 16, 2000, of myocardial infarction at his home.

Born Feb. 8, 1924, in Bertrand, Neb., he lived in Wildomar for three years. He worked in building maintenance for Zellerbach Paper for 20 years. He enjoyed oil and watercolor painting, gardening, fishing and hunting.

Mr. Dyer is survived by his son, Bill Dyer of Portland; three daughters Frances Gould of Murrieta, Carolyn Southerland of Titusville, Fla., and Darlene Ross of Louisville; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, March 22, at First Southern Baptist Church in Wildomar.

Burial will be in Bertrand, Nebraska.

Richard Haley,69

TEMECULA - Richard Anthony Haley, 69, died of cancer Thursday, March 16, 2000, at his home in Temecula.

Born April 25, 1930, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, he owned and operated his own landscaping business for 20 years in Orange County. He was a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Temecula. Mr. Haley loved to fish and hunt in Quebec and also enjoyed playing golf.

Mr. Haley is survived by his mother, Lillian Haley of Temecula; sister Myrna Bergeron of Temecula and brother Tony Bergeron of Temecula.

Private inurnment was held.

The family requests memorial contributions be sent to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 686, Sun City, CA 92586.

Veronica Lynch, 74

MENIFEE - Veronica Lynch, 74, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, of respiratory failure at Menifee Valley Medical Center.

Born November 16, 1925, in Liverpool, England, she lived in Sun City for 10 years. She was a housewife and homemaker for 50 years. She enjoyed gardening, reading, shopping, taking care of and decorating her home.

Mrs. Lynch is survived by her husband, Robert Lynch of Sun City; daughters Barbara Meikle of Stanton, Linda Kulm of Lake Elsinore and Lorraine Manglos of Anaheim; and son Robert E. Lynch Jr. of Fort Lauderdale; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 12 p.m., Saturday, March 25, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary.

Sally Weichelt, 56

FONTANA - Sally Lynn Weichelt, 56, died Tuesday, March 14, 2000, of subarchnoid hemorrhage at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Fontana.

Born March 10, 1944, in Minneapolis, she lived in Murrieta for three months. She was a homemaker and a member of Delta Phi sorority (San Diego Chapter).

Mrs. Weichelt is survived by a daughter, Celeste Gross of Murrieta; son Jeff Morrison of Eugene, Ore,; sisters Janie Kirchner of Temecula and Judy Andreusen of La Mesa; and two grandsons, Daniel and Brett Gross of Murrieta.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, at Murrieta United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Laurel Cemetery.

Contributions can be made to the American Heart Association.

Olive Bramwell, 70

VISTA - Olive Louise Bramwell, 70, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.

Born Feb. 26, 1930, in Siloam Springs, Ark., she lived in Vista for 45 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Bramwell is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lowell E. Bramwell of Vista; daughters Lisa Bramwell of Vista, Brenda Gail Bramwell of Cleveland and Connie Mae Iveson of Alfa; sisters Marian Mathison of Hughson, Dorotha Partain of San Diego and Bonnie Sue Trammell of Vista; and eight grandchildren.

A funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Allen Bros. Mortuary, Vista Chapel. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park in Oceanside.

Paul Carman, 81

OCEANSIDE - Paul L. Carman, 81, died Sunday, March 12, 2000, in San Pedro.

Born Nov. 14, 1918, in Louisville, Ken., he was a long-time Oceanside resident. He helped establish the Yellow, Checker and Red Cab companies, and had the first fleet of radio-operated cabs in San Diego County.

Mr. Carman is survived by his wife, Inez Carman; daughters and sons-in-law Adrienne and Kent Monstanto of San Pedro, and Judy and Robert Metzger of Rio Linda; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Carol Burgess of Cookeville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services are scheduled for noon today, March 20, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association.

Loretta Pruett, 66

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Loretta Valrie Pruett, 66, died Friday, March 18, 2000, at the Veterans Hospital in Fayetteville.

Born Oct. 6, 1933, in Worchester, Mass., she was a registered nurse, served in the Navy and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville.

Mrs. Pruett is survived be her husband, Robert Pruett; sons Robert Pruett Jr. of Escondido, Michael Pruett of Las Vegas and John Pruett of Prairie Grove, Ark.; daughter Christine Pruett of Milwaukie, Ore.; stepdaughters Karan Enders of Milwaukie and Debbie Ruckles of Virginia Beach, Va.; sister Cynthia Baus of Foley, Ala.; mother Adeline Kaunas of Fayetteville; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, March 20, at Beard's Chapel, Fayetteville. Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today, March 20, at Beard's Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville with Father Paul Worm officiating. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Trevor Moorhouse, 17

TEMECULA - Trevor Moorhouse, 17, died Monday, March 13, 2000, at Riverside County Regional Medical Center from injuries suffered in a car accident.

Born Aug. 29, 1982, in Newport Beach, he lived in Temecula for 12 years. He was a junior at Rancho Vista High School and attended Chaparral High School for two years. He competed in ice hockey and roller hockey as a member of the Riverside Jets and San Diego Stars.

Trevor is survived by his parents, Colleen and Michael Moorhouse of Temecula; brother Garrett Moorhouse of Temecula; and grandparents Pat and Bob Schadt of West Covina, and Frances Acton of Huntington Beach.

Services are scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, March 20, at Stout Family Funeral Home. A funeral is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, at Calvary Chapel in Temecula; burial will follow at 2:45 p.m. at Temecula Cemetery.

Isabel Zamora, 78

RIVERSIDE - Isabel Zamora, 78, died Friday, March 17, 2000, of cardiopulmonary arrest at Palm Terrace Convalescent in Riverside.

Born June 28, 1921, in Colima, Mexico, she lived in Perris for 10 years. She was a homemaker.

Ms. Zamora is survived by her daughters, Delia Campos of Perris, Gloria Chavira of Guadalajara, and Zenaida Hernandez of El Paso; brother Isabel Zamora of Colima, Mexico; sisters Francisca and Carmen Zamora of Colima, Mexico; son-in-law, Salvador Campos of Perris; and 13 grandchildren.

Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., Mass at 10 a.m., Wednesday, March 22, at St. Martha's Catholic Parish in Murrieta.

Burial will be at Elsinore Valley Cemetery.

Nila Vadna Miller, 83

SAN BERNARDINO - Nila Vadna Miller, 83, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, of respiratory failure at St. Bernardine Medical Center in San Bernardino.

Born Sept. 12, 1916, in Pucico, Mo., she lived in Murrieta for one year. She was a homemaker for the last 10 years and enjoyed working in various departments at the church her husband was a pastor for, including Sunday school and music. She loved music and gardening.

Mrs. Miller is survived by her husband, Charles Miller of Murrieta; son Alan Miller and daughter-in-law, Roberta Miller of Bakersfield; daughter Diane Butterworth and son-in-law, Russell Butterworth of Temecula; grandsons David Miller of St. Louis, Jim Miller and Patricia Miller of Tehachapi; Scott Butterworth of Los Angeles; Steven Butterworth (deceased); and granddaughter, Amy Ramos and Antonio Ramos of Murrieta; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Megan Miller of Tehachapi.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at Temecula Cemetery.

Eldon Goenne, 68

SUN CITY - Eldon E. Goenne, 68, died Saturday, March 18, 2000, at Sun City Convalescent Center.

Born July 9, 1931, in Clinton, Iowa, he lived in Wildomar for 15 years. He had worked for the Metropolitan State Hospital in Norwalk as a Psychiatric Technician for 20 years. He enlisted in the Army in 1953 and was discharged in 1954.

He was past president of Buena Park Art Guild and enjoyed photography and painting landscapes. He attended Clinton schools as a child in Iowa and graduated from Clinton High in 1950. He served in the military during the Korean War.

Mr. Goenne is survived by his sons Andrew and Matthew Goenne of San Diego; daughter Carla Heaivilin of Clinton; sister Darlene Struve of Clinton; and three grandchildren.

Service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 23, at St. Stephens Lutheran Church at 401 N. 4th St., Clinton, Iowa. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

Family suggests donations to: St. Stephens Lutheran Church, 401 N. 4th St., Clinton, IA 52732.
