ESCONDIDO - Anita Louise Martin, 45, died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Aug. 18, 1955, she lived in Escondido for 13 years.
She was employed by the Department of the Navy.
Ms. Martin was preceded in death by her mother, Sarah McWilliams, in 1997.
She is survived by her father, Eugene G. McWilliams of Tennessee; brother Thomas Eugene McWilliams of Tennessee; and sister Anna M. Barrowdough of Virginia.
Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 8. at Alhiser-Comer with the Rev. Bill Hard officiating.

Vernon Ball, 86
OCEANSIDE - Vernon D. Bell, 86, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001.
Born June 13, 1914, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, he lived in Oceanside for 23 years.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1945 and retired as a detective from the Los Angeles Police Department.
He enjoyed dancing, singing and was a founding member of San Diego's Finest City Dixie Land Jazz Society and Elks Lodge 1968.
Mr. Ball is survived by his longtime companion Doris Schultz.
His body has been donated to the University of California San Diego for research and cremation.
Evelyn Bloss, 89
CANYON LAKE - Evelyn "Brown" Bloss, died Saturday, March 3, 2001, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Aug. 27, 1911, in Hamburg, Iowa, she lived in Canyon Lake for four years, was previously from Sun City for 20 years, and a past resident of Lincoln, Neb. She was a housekeeper for Gateway Manor. She enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking and journal writing.
Mrs. Bloss was preceded in death by her mother, Pearl; father, Earl Brown; and her husband, LaVerne Bloss. She is survived by daughter, Kay Van Rooy, of Canyon Lake; brother Milo Brown of Fort Worth, Texas; sister Hallie Anderson of Lake San Marcos; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation was at 10 a.m., memorial service was at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 8, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. with Peter Van Dyke officiating. Interment
is at Menifee Valley Memorial Park.

Floyd Burns, 90
TEMECULA - Floyd Burns, 90, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at Rancho Springs Medical Center.
Born Jan. 6, 1911, in Crawford, Kan., he lived in Temecula for three years. He was self-employed as a plastering contractor. He loved to fish and read his Bible.
Mr. Floyd is survived by his wife, Helen Burns, of Temecula; daughters and son-in-law Arlene Burns of Los Angeles, Janet and Ralph Holley of Temecula; brother Ralph Burns of Winston, Ore.; sisters Opal Goodwin of Roseburg, Ore., Florence Cross and Ruby La Boda, both of Winston, Ore.
A private memorial service is planned.

Elizabeth DeToffol, 84
CANYON LAKE - Elizabeth DeToffol, 84, died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, at The Village Health Care in Hemet.
Born July 24, 1916, in Duluth, Minn., she lived in Canyon Lake for 23 years. She was a homemaker for 60 years. She was a member of the Twirlers Square Dancing Club and loved to travel across the states, Hawaii and Alaska.
Mrs. DeToffol is survived by her daughters Karen Martin of Canyon Lake and Sandra Pargen of Whittier; sister Jeanette Neumann of Milwaukee; son-in-law David Martin of Canyon Lake; and two grandchildren.
A private memorial service is planned.

Elna Gibson, 82
MURRIETA - Elna M. Gibson, 82, died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Escondido.
Born Feb. 2, 1919, in Sugarland, Texas, she lived in Murrieta for six years and was previously from Escondido for 26 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband of 47 years, Ezra Gibson of Murrieta; sons Lee Powers of Desert Springs and Sam Powers of Ontario; daughter Melba Haran of Murrieta; brother John Hoot of Texas; sisters Ellis Lilly and Levenia Morris, both of Texas; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation and viewing is scheduled for Saturday, March 10, with a funeral service at 3 p.m. at McLeod Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Paul Black of House of Prayer Lutheran Church officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Murrieta Cemetery.

Caroline Hentges, 91
VISTA - Caroline A. Hentges, 91, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, of cancer, in Oceanside.
Born May 12, 1908, in Minnesota, she lived in Vista for 23 years. She worked for Federal Cartridge in Anoka, Minn., for more than 18 years before retiring, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista, the Alter and Rosary Society and Young at Heart.
Mrs. Hentges was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas R. Hentges. She is survived by her son, Bernard Hentges of Vista; stepsons Loren Hentges of Blaine, Minn., Eldon Hentges of Lake Ham, Minn., and Ronald Hentges of Pacific Grove; daughter Shirley Steinke of Menahga, Minn.; 27 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 1, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. Interment
will take place at a later date at Fort Snelling Cemetery in Minnesota next to her late husband.

Dale Rausch, 75
OCEANSIDE - Dale Rausch, 75, died Friday, March 24, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Feb. 16, 1925, in Colorado, he lived in Oceanside. He worked for Continental Airlines before retiring. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of New Venture Church in Oceanside and founder and president of Ocean Hill RV Club.
Mr. Rausch is survived by his wife, Virginia Rausch of Oceanside; son David Rausch of Canyon Country; daughters Vicki Back of Haven, Kan., and Becky Reed of Birmingham, Ala.; brother Dr. Marvin Rausch of Massachusetts; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday, March 28, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. Interment
will take place at a later date at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Fern Evelyn Gailey, 86, died Friday, March 24, 2000, in Escondido.
Born April 19, 1913, in Irene, S. D., she lived in Escondido for 45 years. She was an owner of Gailey Photo on Grand Avenue for 30 years and a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Gailey was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Gailey, in 1982; and her son, John A. Gailey, in 1994. She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Jet Gailey of Escondido; nephews Ken Dixon of Escondido and Andrew Andreasen of Lancaster; niece Christine Miasnikov of Los Osos; sisters Ellen Andreasen and Sally Dixon, both of Escondido; and grandchildren John A. Gailey of Visalia, Matthew Gailey, and Karl and Mark Gailey, both of Escondido.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary, with the Rev. Pete Mayfield officiating. A private cremation is planned.

ESCONDIDO - Mary K. Sheehan, 86, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, in Escondido.
Born May 17, 1913, in Lawrence, Mass., she lived in Escondido for 15 years. She was a factory worker for 25 years, working with Western Electric.
Mrs. Sheehan was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Sheehan, in 1997. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Carol Sheehan of Valley Center; brother Joseph Kendrick of Methuen, Mass.; grandchild Lisa Mahon of Fredericksburg, Va.; and great-grandchildren Griffin Mahon and Spencer Mahon, both of Fredericksburg.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Salem Street Funeral Home in Lawrence, Mass. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 31, at Polish National Catholic Church in Methuen. Burial will follow at Polish National Catholic Cemetery in Methuen.

Jethro Robinson, 74
OCEANSIDE - Jethro Robinson, 74, died Friday, March 24, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Aug. 25, 1925, in Texas, he lived in Oceanside for 40 years. He worked for civil service at Camp Pendleton before retiring and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.
Mr. Robinson was preceded in death by his wife, Angelina Robinson, in 1976. He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Robert Earl and Christina Watts of Texas; daughter Elizabeth Parks of Oceanside; sister Ivora Nash of Texas; grandchildren Latasha Jackson, Jerray Watson, Taylor Watson, Robert S. Watts, Latonya Brooks, Christopher Watts and Lycinda Watts; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, March 30, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Charles Price officiating. Burial will follow with military honors.

John Baldwin, 88
VISTA - John F. Baldwin, 88, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Rancho Vista Health Center.
Born June 14, 1911, in Pittsburgh, he lived in Vista for 39 years. He was a mining surveyor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture before retiring and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Baldwin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ardys Baldwin of Vista; son and daughter-in-law John and Vickie Baldwin of Coquille, Ore.; daughter Sharon Rutherford of Boise, Idaho; sister Mary Agnes Baldwin of Pittsburgh; and grandchildren Kate, Stephanie and Andy Baldwin.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. John Baldwin officiating. Burial will follow.

Born Nov. 30, 1925, in Pottsville, Pa., she lived in Carlsbad for 42 years. She retired from Oceanside Unified School District and was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church.
Mrs. Doherty is survived by her husband of 49 years, Frederick J. Doherty of Carlsbad; sons Joseph Fredrick Doherty of Idaho, Robert Michael Doherty, Gerard John Doherty, Kevin James Doherty and Dennis Gerard Doherty, all of Carlsbad; brothers John Elenausky of Orwigsburg, Pa., and Edward Elenausky of Port Jefferson, N.Y.; sisters Theresa Pomian of New Jersey, Rose Noll of Orwigsburg and Marie Gossick of Newark, Del.; and grandchildren Amanda Doherty, Christopher Doherty and Celine Deluca, Tiara Ewaschuk, Dylan Doherty, Kyle Perry and Trevor Doherty, Vicky, Tiana and Jerry Doherty.

Born Aug. 3, 1930, in Gainesville, Ala., he lived in Escondido for 35 years. He was an auto mechanic for 50 years before retiring and a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Forty and Eight.
Mr. Tate is survived by his wife of 46 years, Loretta Tate of Escondido; sons John Tate, Ed Tate, Richard Tate and Bob Tate, all of Escondido; daughter Diana Wheeler of Chula Vista; mother-in-law Florence Smith of Escondido; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A private cremation will be held.

VISTA - Kenneth Donald Morrison, 78, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Nov. 6, 1921, in Santa Ana, he lived in Vista for 12 years. He was a civil engineer with Tejon Ranch Co. for 21 years and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Morrison is survived by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Morrison of Vista; son Neil D. Morrison of El Toro; daughters Patricia Ann Ives of Valley Center and Kathryn D. Morrison of Chula Vista; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
No formal service is scheduled. A private cremation is planned.
