ESCONDIDO - Charlotte Belle Shipe, 88, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at a local convalescent home.
Born Aug. 19, 1912, in Staunton, Va., she lived in Escondido for 37 years. She was a domestic housekeeper for more than 50 years, most recently with the Visiting Nurses Association in Escondido for about seven years.
Mrs. Shipe is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law John G. and Beverly Shipe of Escondido and Michael B. and Arlene Shipe of Lancaster; grandchildren Denise Cyr of Escondido, Pamela Shipe of Lancaster, Pa., Steven and wife Jacinda Shipe of Mesa, Ariz. and great-grandchild Anton Shipe of Mesa, Ariz.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date. A cremation and scattering at sea is planned.

Sonia Hayden, 51
FALLBROOK - Sonia Jeanette Hayden, 51, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at Tri-City Medical Center in Oceanside.
Born May 7, 1949, in Guatemala City, Guatemala, she lived in Fallbrook for 28 years. She was a homemaker for 30 years and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2nd Ward.
Ms. Hayden is survived by her husband, Mark Hayden of Fallbrook; sons Tyler Hayden and Trevor Hayden, both of Fallbrook; daughters Erika Dunne of Vista and Ashley Hayden of Fallbrook; brother Salvador Pleitez of Los Angeles; sisters Ana Leonor Fox of Burbank and Roxanne Desatoff of Yucaipa; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, March 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints with Bishop Clark Moffat officiating. Burial will follow at Fallbrook Masonic Cemetery.

Muriel Stryker, 83
SAN MARCOS - Muriel S. Stryker, 83, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, in Escondido.
Born April 24, 1917, in Portland, Ore., she lived in San Marcos. She retired in 1969 from L.P. Scherer Contractor. She graduated from Linfield College in Oregon and was a member of PEO and the First Presbyterian Church of Redlands
Mrs. Stryker is survived by her husband of 59 years, William Stryker of San Marcos; son and daughter-in-law James and Kathryn Stryker of Laguna Hills; daughter Janet Johnson of Dallas; and four grandchildren.
A private cremation is planned.

OCEANSIDE - Michael A. Bufarale Jr., 74, died Saturday, March 17, 2001, at the Chase Care Center in El Cajon.
Born Oct. 7, 1926, he lived in Oceanside.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had been a self-employed auto mechanic.
Mr. Bufarale is survived by his sisters Jeanne Mobilio and Mildred Thompson, both of Encinitas and Frances LeVine of La Jolla.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to the start of rosary at 7 p.m. today, March 21, at Encinitas Chapel.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 22, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Encinitas. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, San Diego.

VISTA - Dorcas E. Long, 91, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at her home.
Born Sept. 18, 1909, in Clark County Indiana, she lived in Vista for 28 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Long was preceded in death by her husband Harry Long, in 1991.
She is survived by daughters Odelia Koller of Vista and Shelby Prosser of Greenwood, Ind.; brother William Snelling of Jeffersonville, Ind.; sisters Irma Bonner and Loretta Spencer, both of Alabama; and ten grandchildren.
No services are planned.

Beryl Hatle, 90
OCEANSIDE - Beryl Hatle, 90, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at her home.
Born Jan. 11, 1911, in North Dakota, she lived in Oceanside for 47 years. She was a homemaker for 60 years.
Mrs. Hatle was preceded in death by her husband Oscar Hatle.
She is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law Robert and Jerry Hatle and Dan Hatle, all of Oceanside; and grandchildren Marci Hatle of Bend, Ore., Matthew Hatle of Oceanside and Eden Hatle of Oceanside.
A graveside service will be held at a later date at Eternal Hills Memorial Park with the Rev. Smith officiating.

Vera Anna Clews, 91
Vera Anna Clews, was born on April 2, 1909, in Romania, to Gustav-Otto and Babette Bettina nee Cernyeh Otto, who were on leave from Czechoslovakia at that time.
Vera passed from this life on March 10, 2001, 23 days before her 92nd birthday.
Vera came to this country as a young child with her family, and they settled in Philadelphia, Pa.
Vera graduated from Strayer's Business College in Philadelphia. She marriage
Sgt. Jacob B. Clews in 1930, and the first four of their children were born in Philadelphia. The family moved to Oceanside in 1947. Two more of their six children were born at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton.
Vera was a very active person and was attending adult education classes right up to the week before her death.
Vera belonged to the Unity Church in Vista where she had many friends.
A memorial service was held at the church on Sunday, March 18.
Vera's eldest son, Jay J. Clews, preceded her in death on April 20, 2000.
Her other children, Barbara, Anthony, Sally, Micky and Susan Rita will miss her presence as will her grandchildren, Jay Jr., Sean, Christian, Noelle, Israel, Ian, Joel and Nigel and her great-grandchildren Ben, Holly, Halen, Sydni and Colton as well as her many friends.

Bill 'Billie' Robison, 64
OCEANSIDE - Bill "Billie" Robison, 64, died Saturday, March 17, 2001. He lost his seven-year bout with emphysema. Born Aug. 9, 1936, in Los Angeles, he lived in Oceanside for 22 years. He was a licensed contractor, building designer and architect for more than 40 years. He had a very successful architectural practice in Vista for 23 years. Mr. Robison was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 43 years.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marie Irene Robison of Oceanside; daughter Catherine Louise Andressen, son-in-law Arne Andressen of Oceanside; daughter Patricia Lee Robison of Santa Clarita, son Richard William Robison, daughter-in-law Priscilla Ann Robison of Oceanside; grandchildren Genevieve, Karen, Erika, Arnold Andressen of Oceanside; brothers Otis Robison of Los Angeles, Oscar Robison, sister-in-law Shirley Robison of Fallbrook, Frank Robison, sister-in-law Hope Robison of Los Angeles, Gilbert Robison of San Francisco; many nieces and nephews, friends and loved ones.
Viewing is scheduled for Tuesday, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Allen Bros. Mortuary in Vista. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Wednesday, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 451 W. Bobier Dr. in Vista. Officiating will be Bishop Bill Luckow.

SUN CITY - Delores I. Kieffer, 67, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Riverside Community Hospital in Riverside of heart failure during surgery.
Born May 31, 1933, in Artesion, S.D., she lived in Sun City for 25 years. She lived in Moreno Valley for 19 years before moving to Sun City. She had been a packager for Nutrilite Vitamins for 15 years and retired in 1981.
Mrs. Kieffer is survived by her husband, John Kieffer, of Sun City; sons John L. (Jack) Kieffer and Kenneth R. Kieffer, both of Buena Park, and Rodney D. Kieffer of Kings Mill, Ohio; brother Delmer Waters of Fedora, S.D.; sisters Evelyn Stewart of Rapid City, S.D., Audrey Zipp of Thorton, Colo., and Darleen Brace of Douglas, Wyo.; and grandchildren Michael and Ryan of Buena Park and Jashua and April of Kings Mills.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. with rosary recited at 6 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Miller-Jones Sun City. A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Miller Jones Sun City. Interment

Born May 29, 1918, in Dallas, she lived in Sun City. She worked as a line worker for 26 years at ITT Gilliffin.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her brother Emile Andry of Sun City; sister Marjorie McKarrel of Los Angeles; granddaughter Lisa Arnold of Rancho Santa Margarita; and grandson Kermit Taylor of Gilroy.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Miller-Jones Sun City with the Rev. Michael O'Day officiating. A private cremation and scattering at sea is planned.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her sons James D. Williams of Temecula and Elbert C. Williams Jr., of Sacramento; daughter Vivian Williams of Oceanside; brothers Glen Godfrey and Fred Godfrey, both of Oakland and Hurtis Godfrey of Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Ewens is survived by her husband of 66 years, Paul J. Ewens of Rancho Bernardo; sons and daughters-in-law William and Yvonne Ewens of San Diego and Thomas and Carolyn Ewens of Acton; sister Loretta VandeWalle of Rancho Bernardo; grandchildren Julie, Jeannie, Joseph, Michael, Mark and Stephen; and eight great-grandchildren.

Maria Concepcion "Connie" Ward, 41, and her son Anthony Michael Ward, 4, died together on Friday, March 16, 2001, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mrs. Ward was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Yahualica, Mexico and lived in Twin Falls, Idaho for eight months. She was a homemaker.
Anthony Michael Ward, 4, was born June 26, 1996, in Paso Robles.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of 19 years, James Ward of Twin Falls, Idaho; mother Crezita De La Cruz; father Roman De La Cruz, both of Twin Falls; daughters Mechelle Ward and Dianna Ward, both of Twin Falls; brother Gilbert; sisters Rosa Nichols of Rancho Penasquitos, Lilia Lizarde, Olivia Cervantes, Guadalupe Young, all of San Marcos and Maria Nunez of Vista; mother- and father-in-law Therese and Donald Ward; brothers-in-law Tim and Don Ward; sisters-in-law Lisa and Linda; nephews Matthew and Paul.
