MENIFEE - Rebecca Jewel Stickel, 83, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at her home of Alzheimer's disease.
Born March 1, 1918, in Paris, Mo., she lived in Menifee for three years. She had lived in Orange County for many years. She was a retail clerk for Gelson's Markets in Newport Beach for 15 years.
Mrs. Stickel is survived by her husband, Russell Stickel, of Menifee; sons and daughters-in-law Gail and Gloria Gander of Concho, Ariz., Larry and Cindy Gander of Willits and David and Janet Grattan of Irvine; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Paul Grattan-Rarick of Fountain Valley; sister Kathleen Coash of Kankakee, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Miller-Jones Mortuary. A memorial service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Alzheimer's Disease Research, 15825 Shady Grove Road, Suite 140, Rockville, MD 20850.

Saul Stark, 84
MURRIETA - Saul Stark, 84, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at Magnolia Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Riverside.
Born Dec. 10, 1916, in Satu Mare, Romania, he lived in Murrieta for 11 years. He was a self-employed restaurant owner in Los Angeles for 27 years. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
Mr. Stark is survived by his brothers Michael Stark of Los Angeles and Jack Stark of Murrieta; numerous nieces and nephews; and two great-great-nieces.
A memorial services is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 26, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Inc. Interment icon will follow at noon at Murrieta Valley Cemetery.

Irene Ewens, 87
RANCHO BERNARDO - Irene Ewens, 87, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Casa De La Campanas of liver cancer.
Born Aug. 13, 1913, in Milwaukee, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 14 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ewens is survived by her husband of 66 years, Paul J. Ewens of Rancho Bernardo; sons and daughters-in-law William and Yvonne Ewens of San Diego and Thomas and Carolyn Ewens of Acton; sister Loretta VandeWalle of Rancho Bernardo; grandchildren Julie, Jeannie, Joseph, Michael, Mark and Stephen; and eight great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at San Rafael Catholic Church with the Rev. Bourgeois officiating. Inurnment will be at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Poway.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Maria Ward, 41 and Anthony Ward, 4
Maria Concepcion ³Connie² Ward, 41, and her son Anthony Michael Ward, 4, died together on Friday, March 16, 2001, in Twin Falls, Idaho.
Mrs. Ward was born Dec. 8, 1959, in Yahualica, Mexico and lived in Twin Falls, Idaho for eight months. She was a homemaker.
Anthony Michael Ward, 4, was born June 26, 1996, in Paso Robles.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her husband of 19 years, James Ward of Twin Falls, Idaho; mother Crezita De La Cruz; father Roman De La Cruz, both of Twin Falls; daughters Mechelle Ward and Dianna Ward, both of Twin Falls; brother Gilbert; sisters Rosa Nichols of Rancho Penasquitos, Lilia Lizarde, Olivia Cervantes, Guadalupe Young, all of San Marcos and Maria Nunez of Vista; mother- and father-in-law Therese and Donald Ward; brothers-in-law Tim and Don Ward; sisters-in-law Lisa and Linda; nephews Matthew and Paul.
Anthony is survived by his father, James Ward; brother Jimmy Ward, sisters Mechelle Ward and Dianna Ward, all of Twin Falls; grandparents Crezita and Roman De La Cruz and Therese and Donald Ward; uncles Tim and Don Ward; aunts Lisa and Linda; cousins Matthew and Paul, and many aunts and uncles.
Viewing is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. today, March 22, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at St. Mark's Catholic Church in San Marcos. Interment icon will follow at San Marcos Cemetery.

Javier Rosales, 35
FALLBROOK - Javier Rosales, 35, died Friday, March 16, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 29, 1965, in Los Angeles, he lived in Fallbrook for 17 years. He was a self-employed mechanic.
Mr. Rosales is survived by his mother, Marie Rosales of Fallbrook; brothers Daniel Rosales and Raul Rosales, both of Fallbrook, Jose de Jesus ³Chuy² Rosales of El Cajon, Miguel ³Michael² Rosales of Fallbrook Oscar Rosales of Baldwin Park and Antonio de Jesus ³Tony² Rosales of Fallbrook; sisters Rosa Idefonso of Ontario, Lilia Zavala of E. Los Angeles, Maria Dolores ³Lola² Ashford of Chino, Ernestina ³Titina² Rodriguez of Puente and Juanita Valasco of Whittier.
Visitation and rosary is scheduled for 4 p.m. today, March 22, at Berry-Bell & Hall Chapel.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at Our Lady of Soledad Catholic Church in Los Angeles. Interment icon will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Whittier.

Willard Young, 75
FALLBROOK - Willard B. Young, 75, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 4, 1926, in Pretonburg, Ky., he lived in Fallbrook. He served as a gunnery sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps for 26 1/2 years, retiring in September 1976. He served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam
He headed a country and western music group in Yokohama, Japan. He was a licensed pilot, and enjoyed motorcycle racing, stock car racing, parachuting, and rod and gun.
Mr. Young was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Young.
He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law James and Bree Young of Fallbrook and Harvey and Aide Young of San Diego; daughters and sons-in-law Barbara and Monty Yonkey of Nebraska and Brenda and Ted Bronson of Ohio; and grandchildren Stetson, Wade and Chelsy Smith-Young.
A cryptside service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 23, at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside with the Rev. Don Watson officiating. Entombment will follow.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Lung Association, 2750 Fourth Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.

Violet Gove, 89
OCEANSIDE - Violet M. Gove, 89, died Monday, March 12, 2001.
Born July 4, 1911, in Portsmouth, N.H., she lived in Oceanside.
She was a homemaker, a member of the Daughters of the King and New Song Community Church.
Mrs. Gove is survived by her husband Philip Gove of Oceanside; son William Gove of Anaheim; and grandchildren Juan and Elizabeth Gove.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at New Song Community Church.
A private cremation is planned with inurnment at Riverside National Cemetery.

Fannie Williams, 89
OCEANSIDE - Fannie Williams, 89, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Pleasant Care of Vista.
Born June 3, 1911, in Junction City, Ark., she lived in Oceanside for 22 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Williams is survived by her sons James D. Williams of Temecula and Elbert C. Williams Jr., of Sacramento; daughter Vivian Williams of Oceanside; brothers Glen Godfrey and Fred Godfrey, both of Oakland and Hurtis Godfrey of Arkansas; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held in Oakland with burial at Sunset View Cemetery in El Ceritto.

George Conrad Jr., 90
OCEANSIDE - George E. Conrad Jr., 90, died Monday, March 19, 2001.
Born Nov. 17, 1910, in Indianapolis, Ind., he lived in Oceanside for 35 years. He was a self-employed orange grower. He was an Olympic wrestler in the 1930s, a world traveler, mechanic and avid sports fan.
Mr. Conrad was preceded in death by his wife Adelle Conrad.
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

Clive Eugene Alley, 83
SAN MARCOS - Clive Eugene Alley, 83, died Monday, March 19, 2001, at Life Care Center in Escondido.
Born April 13, 1917, in Minneapolis, he lived in San Marcos for 10 years. He was a laborer for ALCOA for 28 years. He served in the National Guard.
Mr. Alley was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Alley, in 1995 and granddaughter, Anita Jo Thomas, in 1984. He is survived by son C.E. ³Bob² Alley of Stoughton, Wis.; daughter Barbara Vallenthine of Oceanside; brother Jim Alley of Folsom; grandchildren Robert Farguhar, William Farguhar, Michael Johnson, Andrea Pederson and Christina Vanderlinden; and seven great-grandchildren.
Viewing is scheduled for 10 a.m. and funeral at 11 a.m. today, March 22, at House of Prayer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Black officiating. Interment icon will follow at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido.

Richard De Los Santos, 43
OCEANSIDE - Richard De Los Santos, 43, died Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2001, at his home.
Born Feb. 22, 1958, in Yorktown, Va., he lived in Oceanside for 30 years.
Mr. De Los Santos is survived by his mother, Matilda De Los Santos, and father Richard De Los Santos, both of Oceanside; two daughters; one son; one grandchild, all of Colorado; brother Douglas De Los Santos of Oceanside; sister Patricia Riviera of Hilo, Hawaii and Linda Suster of Oceanside; and eight nieces and nephews.
A private cremation and scattering at sea is planned.

Margery Prince, 74
SUN CITY - Margery Bell Prince, 74, died Wednesday, March 21, 2001, at her home.
Born Aug. 18, 1926, she lived in Sun City for 15 years. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sun City Friends of Animals Club and a member of Sun City Shuffleboard Club.
Ms. Prince is survived by her brothers Frank Edwards of San Jose and Thomas Edwards of Del Mar; and executor Tony Edwards of Del Mar.
At the request of the deceased, no services will be held. Burial will be at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside.

William Walker, 68
SUN CITY - William R. Walker, 68, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta of congestive heart failure.
Born May 18, 1932, in Huntington, W.Va., he lived in Sun City for 2 1/2 years and was previously from Newport Beach from 1972 to 1998. He was a self-employed veterinarian for 43 years. He had a doctorate in veterinary medicine.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Dorothy Walker, of Sun City; sons Steve Walker of Costa Mesa and Tom Walker of Maui, Hawaii; daughters Patricia Roberts of Ventura and Marjorie Stevens of Los Angeles; brother George Walker of Mission Viejo; and five grandchildren.
A scattering off the coast of Orange County is planned.

Rajie Saleeby, 44
TEMECULA - Rajie Ali Saleeby, 44, died Friday, March 16, 2001, in La Jolla.
Born April 11, 1956, in Washington, he lived in Temecula. He graduated Cum Laude from Appalachian State Engineering School and was a member of Epsilon Pi Tao. He was a member of the West Bend Masonic Lodge 434 in Lewisville, N.C., and was the regional sales manager for Fairchild Industrial Products Co.
Mr. Saleeby was preceded in death by his parents George R. and Margaret Hoggard Saleeby. and sister Betsy Ann Pierce. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Roslea Rinehart Saleeby, sons James Rasheed Saleeby and Nicholas Parker Saleeby; and daughter Katherine Elaine Saleeby, all of Temecula; and sister Katherine Phelps Prescott of Greenville, Wash.
A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Washington with the Rev. Harry Daniel officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery with Masonic rites.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Paul Funeral Home in Washington.

Barbara Vasquez, 64
TEMECULA - Barbara Anita Vasquez, 64, died Tuesday, March 20, 2001, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta of coronary artery disease.
Born May 1, 1936, in Los Angeles, she lived in Temecula for 1 1/2 months and was previously from San Gabriel for 64 years. She worked 13 years for the state of California Department of Fair Employment and Housing. She enjoyed crocheting, quilting and traveling.
Ms. Vasquez is survived by her son Michael A. Vasquez of San Gabriel; brother Robert Vasquez of Temple City; sister Rita Palmer of Temecula; and parents Ambrose and Matilda Vasquez of Temecula.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 23, at Valley Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 24, at St. Michael's Catholic Church on the Pechanga Indian Reservation. Burial will follow.

Ed Walker, 83
Joseph "Ed" Walker passed away March 18, 2001, at his home in Sun City. He died after a brief battle with lung cancer.
Ed was born in Wall Lake, Iowa, on Sept. 26, 1917. He was one of five children. His sister, Maybelle Cross and brother Bill Walker survive him. The family came to Santa Monica when Ed was nine years old. He attended the Santa Monica schools and excelled in pole vault and tennis. As a child, he asked the Lord if he could be a farmer and a coach. His desires were realized when he became a turkey/chicken rancher in Elsinore, and a tennis coach at different clubs and schools. He finished his working years at Victoria Club in Riverside in 1981.
He had 58 years of marriage with his wife, Virginia, and they have three daughters, Linda Barlogio, of Corona, Suzy Howe, of Millerton, Pa., and Sally Hanks, of Sun City. There are seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
Ed donated his body to Loma Linda anatomy department hoping in some way someone would be helped through it. In lieu of flowers, his favorite charities were Voice of Christ Ministries, Nenana, Alaska, and Wycliffe Missionaries, Dick and Carold John in Dallas, Texas. Memorial services will be held at Canyon Lake Community Church on March 24, at 10 a.m.
