HEMET - Karol Augustyn Labus, 63, died Monday, Jan. 17, 2000, at Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital.
Born May 28, 1936, in Poland, he lived in Hemet for 11 years. He was a gunnery sergeant for the U.S. Marine Corps, retiring in 1974 after 20 years.
Mr. Labus is survived by his wife, Patricia M. Labus of Hemet; son Donald Wayne Labus of Redondo Beach; daughter Mary Mae Edsinga of Canyon Lake; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 25, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, with Commander Victor H. Krulak Jr., CHC, USN Retired, officiating. Inurnment will follow.

Margaret Felicioni, 80
MURRIETA - Margaret Felicioni, 80, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, of colon cancer, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.
Born Nov. 1, 1919, in Sault St. Marie, Ontario, Canada, she lived in Murrieta for two years. She was a document printer for Teledyne in Northridge.
Mrs. Felicioni is survived by her husband, Frank Felicioni of Murrieta; son Ronald Felicioni of Playa del Rey; daughter Penny Felicioni of Murrieta; sisters Doreen Angelini, Lena Nurmi, Fran Hanson and Sister Lovey, all of Hamilton, Ontario.
A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 28, at Valley Funeral Home. A private burial is planned.

Dimp Wiscaver, 87
SUN CITY - Dimp Ellis Wiscaver, 87, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Jan. 13, 1913, in Portersville, Ind., he lived in Sun City for 24 years. He was a store manager for Sears & Roebuck in Niles, Mich., for 34 years and was a member of the Masons in Sun City, the American Legion, the Executive Club, Cherry Hills Golf Club and a 1936 graduate of Purdue. He was the past commodore for Berrien Springs Yacht Club.
Mr. Wiscaver is survived by his wife, Pauline Wiscaver of Sun City; and daughter Suzanne Alston of Canoga Park.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 31, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A graveside service will follow at 11:45 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery.

OCEANSIDE - Manuel Hernandez Marsan, 78, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Nov. 21, 1921, in Santiago, DeCuba, he lived in Oceanside for six years. He was an optician before retiring in 1987.
Mr. Marsan was preceded in death by his son, Julio Antonio Hernandez, in 1999. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgina Marsan of Oceanside; sons Manuel E. Hernandez of Los Angeles and Alex I Hernandez of Glendale; daughters Susana Mead of Jacksonville, N.C., Margarita Hernandez of Carlsbad and Sandra T. Hernandez of Chula Vista; five brothers and sisters; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

SHELBY, N.C. - Geneva Blalock Bowen, 89, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Born in Cleveland County, North Carolina, she lived in Shelby. She was a homemaker and a member of the Westview Baptist Church.
Mrs. Bowen was preceded in death by her husband, Max William Bowen; daughter-in-law Ethel Hamrick Bowen; brother Morris Blalock, Gordon Blalock and Hoyle Blalock; and sisters Ethel Bowen, Helen Cobb and Jeanette Padgette. She is survived by her son, Forrest William Bowen of Escondido; daughters Frances Talent and Hazel Talent of Shelby; sisters Marie Blalock Ruppe of Shelby; grandchildren Michael William Bowen, Yvonne Cook, Kathy Mistowski and Teresa Valigura; and great-grandchildren Adam and Aaron Bowen, Cindie and Pamela Cook, Jodi and Jennell and P.J. Mistowski.

VISTA - Helen B. Romo, 69, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Aug. 16, 1930, in Minneapolis, she lived in Vista for four years. She worked for Latham & Watkins law firm and was a member of the Vista Garden Club.
Mrs. Romo is survived by her husband of 6 1/2 years, Anthony Romo of Vista; sons Lawrence Bragg of Modesto, Warren Bragg of Poulsbo, Wash., and Ronald Bragg of Fountain Valley; daughter Diane Alfonzo of La Jolla; and sisters Margaret Osterby of Green Valley, Ariz., and Lois Frazier of Oceanside.

ESCONDIDO - Bruce W. Dowhan, 56, died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000.
Born April 3, 1943, in Canandaigua, N.Y., he was a San Diego County resident for 20 years. He was an air traffic control manager, a Navy veteran, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Marana, Ariz., and the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club of San Diego .
Mr. Dowhan is survived by his wife 36 years, Judy Dowhan of Escondido; sons Bruce E. Dowhan of Temecula and Brian W. Dowhan of Seal Beach; brothers Ron Viau of Florida and Anthony Dowhan of South Carolina; sisters Mary Barbera of Vermont, Barbara Silvernail of Florida, Kathy Johnson of Kansas and Jean Grieshaber of Rome; and four grandchildren.

OCEANSIDE - Roger Lloyd Shewmake, 69, died Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born Aug. 17, 1930 in Illinois, he lived in Oceanside for seven years. He retired from Lamination Co. as a financial analyst.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Shewmake of Oceanside; son Guy Shewmake of Oceanside; daughters Mary Beth Shewmake of Sherman Oaks and Jill King of Oceanside; and brother Dr. Floyd Shewmake of Western Springs, Ill.
A memorial is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Jan. 31, at First Presbyterian Church of Oceanside. Private cremation is planned, with cremains scattered at sea.

OCEANSIDE - Vita Catherine Thielemann, 85, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born March 7, 1915, in New York, she lived in Oceanside for 10 years. She was a registered nurse for 30 years, retiring from the Calexico Hospital.
Mrs. Thielemann was preceded in death by her husband, Albert F. Thielemann, in 1983. She is survived by her sons, Albert F. Thielemann III of Fallbrook and Chuck Thielemann of Lakewood; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A private cremation is planned with inurnment to take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Jesse De Shazer, 85
ESCONDIDO - Jesse Donald De Shazer, 85, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, of heart disease, at Sunbridge Care in Rancho Bernardo.
Born Jan. 21, 1915, in Lawrence, Kan., he lived in Escondido for 47 years. He was a chef at Rancho Santa Fe Inn and numerous restaurants in Escondido including Mikkis Restaurant. He served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was a member of and chef for Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido. He worked for Purer Drilling, drilling water wells in North County.
Mr. De Shazer was preceded in death by his wife, Freada A. De Shazer, in 1998. He is survived by his son, Robert D. De Shazer of San Angelo, Texas; sisters Maudie Harmon of Cushing, Okla., and Velma Petty of Escondido; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Viewing will be held at 9 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Hidden Valley Christian Church in Escondido. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, at Hidden Valley Christian Church, with the Rev. Pete Mayfield officiating. Interment

FALLBROOK - Virginia Cora Baxter, 75, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, in Fallbrook.
Born May 13, 1924, in Arkansas, she lived in Santee for 17 years and in Fallbrook for six weeks. She was the co-owner of AA Baxter Corp-Construction Co.
Mrs. Baxter is survived by her son, Alan Baxter Jr. of San Francisco and Bobbie Baxter of Perris; daughter Linda Baxter Ellison of Fallbrook; and six grandchildren.

SAN DIEGO - Lois Long Curley, 78, died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at San Diego Hospice.
Born May 6, 1921, in Portland, Ore., she lived in San Diego for 15 years. She was a literary agent for G/L Publications for 21 years and a member of the Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church. She served on the board of directors for Partners International.
Mrs. Curley is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard D. Curley of San Diego; son and daughter-in-law David W. and Lory R. Curley of San Diego; daughter Michelle C. Eastburn of North Bend, Wash.; and grandchildren Bryan and Brandon Curley.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, at Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church, with Dr. Donald Buteyn officiating. Interment

Born Aug. 21, 1924, in Tulare, she lived in Escondido for 13 years. She worked for the state of California Department of Food and Agriculture, retiring in May 1987.
Mrs. Robeson is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James and Darlene Robeson of Escondido, and John Robeson of Porterville; daughter Judith Robeson of Escondido; sister and brother-in-law Shirley and Watson Truax of San Diego; and grandchildren Greg Robeson and Matthew Robeson.
A private cremation was held with cremains scattered at sea.

Born June 12, 1925, in Youngstown, Ohio, she lived in Escondido for 40 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Goebel was preceded in death by her husband, Dominic Calarco, in 1950. She is survived by her sons, Ross Calarco of Escondido and Edward Goebel of Grand Junction, Colo.; daughter Maria Hegg of Corunna, Mich.; brother and sister-in-law Steve and Catherine Catania of Escondido; and grandchildren Tawnya, Renee, Mickey and Matthew.
