VISTA - Ernest Bischofberger, 79, died Sunday, March 26, 2000, in Oceanside.
Born Feb. 8, 1921, in Switzerland, he lived in Vista for 12 years. He worked for Eucal Realty Co.
Mr. Bischofberger was preceded in death by his wife, Rita Bischofberger, in 1998. He is survived by his son, Peter Bischofberger of Hermosa Beach; daughter and son-in-law Suzette and Willie Brown of Riverside; sister and brother-in-law Alice and Eugene Christen of Switzerland; and one grandchild.

VISTA - Jose Guadalupe Becerra, 77, died Thursday, March 30, 2000, in Vista.
Born Dec. 12, 1922, in Mexico, he lived in Vista for 35 years.
Mr. Becerra is survived by his wife of 50 years, Micaela Becerra of Vista; sons and daughter-in-law Armando Becerra, Guillermo Becerra and Ricardo and Marta Becerra, all of Vista; daughter and sons-in-law Julieta Becerra, Graciela and Adalberto Villarreal and Lidia and Jesus Tinajero, all of Vista, and Estella and Alberto Garza of Chula Vista; brothers Luis Becerra of San Jancito and Antonio Becerra, Miguel Becerra and Felix Becerra, all of Mexico; and nine grandchildren.

Orey Cornell, 69
OCEANSIDE - Orey William "Bill" Cornell, 69, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000, from complications of emphysema.
Born Jan. 14, 1931, in Lansing, Mich., he lived in Oceanside for 35 years. He was a gold and silversmith and co-owner of Mild to Wild Jewelry Store. He ran the dive shop in Oceanside Harbor in the 60s.
Mr. Cornell is survived by his wife, Katherine "Kitty" Cornell of Oceanside; son John Lee Cornell; sister Belva Clifton; grandchildren John Wayne and Kathy Smith; great-grandson Harley Smith; and nephew Mike Philo.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 7, at North County Cremation Service Chapel in San Marcos. A private cremation is planned.

Born Dec. 1, 1933, in American Samoa, she lived in Oceanside for three years.
Mrs. Vivao is survived by her husband of 28 years, Falefatu Vivao of Oceanside; sons Nikolao Vivao of Hayward, Peter Vivao of San Jose and Motu Vivao of Sacramento; daughters Tafai Warner of Virginia, Tuuaga Vee of Alameda, Lesina Vivao of Richmond and Evelyn Vivao and Sailau Vivao, both of Oceanside; brothers Tagi Taamai of San Francisco, Fua Taamai of Hawaii, Moeolo Taamai of Virginia and Julius Taamai of Miolpitas; sister Leai Suna of Vista; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

VISTA - May Rose Matheny, 94, died Monday, March 27, 2000, in Vista.
Born May 30, 1905, in Nebraska, she lived in Vista for five years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Matheny was preceded in death by her husband, S. Glenn Matheny, in 1986. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. and Vivian M. McCormick of Vista; grandchildren Pamela McCormick and Christina Rachuy; and great-grandchildren Charles Dudley, Jason Dudley and William Rachuy.

SAN DIEGO - William Perry Cochran, 57, died Monday, March 20, 2000.
Born Nov. 29, 1942, in Isola, Miss., he lived in San Diego. He was a chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy for 23 years before retiring.
Mr. Cochran is survived by his wife, Merle R. Cochran; son Joel Cochran of San Diego; brother Robert Cochran; and sisters Vera Henson, Jeanette Ploger, Kathy Olson and Beth Gonzales.

POWAY - Alicia Yorba, 64, died Wednesday, March 29, 2000.
Born April 8, 1935, in Mexico, she lived in Poway for 31 years. She was a homemaker for 44 years.
Mrs. Yorba was preceded in death by her husband, Enrique Yorba. She is survived by her mother, Maria Lobato of La Paz, Mexico; sons Oscar Yorba of Spring Valley, Caesar Yorba, Henry Yorba, Hector Yorba and Adam Yorba, all of Poway; daughters Henrietta Balbanda, Nirma Dukes and Sally Yorba, all of Poway and Yolanda Yorba of Ramona; 17 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

William Allee, 85
CORTEZ, Colo. - William Orval Allee, 85, died Tuesday, March 28, 2000, of myocardial infarction, at Southwest Memorial Hospital in Cortez.
Born Dec. 17, 1914, in Hammond, Okla., he lived in Perris for 55 years before moving to Colorado in 1995. He was a building inspector in Riverside and served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a graduate of Perris High School and a member of the Lions Club and American Legion in Perris.
Mr. Allee is survived by his wife, Hilda Allee of Cortez; daughter Ramona Merritt of Cortez; brother Virgil Allee of Riverside; sisters Jessie Crites of Mesa, Ariz., and Lavern Ramsey of Concord; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, April 3, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will take place at Perris Valley Cemetery.

Mrs. Martinez is survived by her husband of 43 years, Arthur Martinez of Vista; son Robert Martinez of Seattle; daughter Maria R. Brinneman of Escondido; grandchildren Mark Brinneman of Escondido and Tony Brinneman of Denver; and one great-grandchild.

Born in Arkansas, she lived in Escondido until 1998 when she moved to Abilene.
Mrs. Eltzroth is survived by her son, Shane Ruff; daughters Lynette Ruff and Vickie Ruff; brothers Norman Rogers of Escondido Melvin Rogers of Rogers, Ark., and Ray Rogers of Houston; sisters Fada Nickel of Little Rock, Ark., and Ann Rogers of Escondido; companion Joseph De Teso of Abilene; two grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts and cousins.
No service is planned. A private cremation will be held with interment to take place at Oak Hill Memorial Park.

OCEANSIDE - Ben F. Sanders, 76, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in San Diego.
Born March 21, 1924, in Wagner, Okla., he lived in Oceanside for 22 years. He worked for Rohr Industries and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Mr. Sanders is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jean Sanders of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law Ben F. III and Diane Sanders; and daughter and son-in-law Susan and David Bremer.

Mrs. Wilcox is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wallace Wilcox of Oceanside; son and daughter-in-law David and Carol Wilcox of Carson; brothers Clarence Hauser of Lodi and Edward Hauser of Central, Ariz.; grandchildren Timothy Michael Wilcox and Tammera Wilcox; and great-grandchildren Ashley Randall and April Randall.

VISTA - Raymond Jones, 39, died Monday, March 27, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 19, 1960, in Kansas City, Mo., he lived in Vista for 15 years. He was a security guard for the Department of Motor Vehicles for two years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Jones is survived by his mother, Evelyn Coleman of Kansas City, Mo.; and father Henry Jones of Pasadena.
A service will be held in Kansas City, Mo. Burial will take place at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Kansas.

LONG BEACH - William Reid Couts, 94, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in Long Beach.
Born March 4, 1906, in Oceanside, he lived Oceanside before moving to Long Beach. He was a superintendent for the Los Angeles Lathing Co. for many years. He was featured in a television production, Cadillac of the Adobes, about his boyhood haunt, Rancho Guajome and donated original documents signed by the president and first governor of California to the San Diego Historical Society.
Mr. Couts is survived by his cousins, nephews and nieces, Dianne Price, Kathy Kelley, Joan Dahl, Bernadine Rink, Barney Holloran, Terri Ekvall, Arthur Couts, Dolly Daley, Linda Randall and Bill Couts.

ESCONDIDO - Helen Eileen Jones, 82, died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation.
Born Dec. 22, 1917, in Peru, Ind., she lived in Escondido for four years. She was a homemaker and a member of Brethren In Christ Church in Chino.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Robert Dale Jones, on Dec. 26, 1997; and her son, William Dee Crawford. She is survived by her daughters, Carol McBride of Vista and Sharon Starkey of Lake Havasu, Ariz.; sister Eldora Drumm of Peru, Ind.; grandchildren Gary Crawford of Moreno Valley, Doug McBride of Tigard, Ore., and Robert McBride of Fallbrook; and great-grandchildren Christopher and Kyle Crawford.
Viewing was held Tuesday, March 28, at Miller-Jones Mortuary in Perris. A cryptside service followed at Pomona Valley Memorial Cemetery in Pomona, with the Rev. Fred Mumford officiating.

MILLBURY, Mass. - C. Richard "Dick" Stockhaus, 68, died Friday, March 31, 2000, at UMASS-Memorial Healthcare, Memorial Campus.
Born in Millbury, Mass, he lived in Oceanside at one time. He graduated from Millbury High School and Sylvania Technical School. He was an electronics engineering assistant with Raytheon Corporation, retiring in 1993 after more than 37 years, served in the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church.
Mr. Stockhaus was preceded in death by his brother, William Stockhaus; and his sisters, Mary Caplette and Wanda Lusty. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Charlotte M. Aboody Stockhaus; sons Richard C. Stockhaus and Nicholas W. Stockhaus, both of Millbury and Steven R. Stockhaus of Worcester; sister Helen Gibbons of Millbury; six grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 4, at Mercadante Funeral Home & Chapel and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, with the Rev. Charles Aboody officiating. Burial will take place at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Mrs. Salisbury was preceded in death by her husband, Harley George Salisbury, on Aug. 16, 1991. She is survived by her son, Michael Salisbury of Venice; and daughter Herlene Deane of Charlotte, N.C.
