Melvin Allison, 79
VISTA - Melvin Wendell Allison, 79, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at his home in Vista.
Born Aug. 27, 1920, in Barnsdall, Okla., he lived in Vista for 44 years. He was a contract estimator for several aeronautic firms for 35 years, retiring from Ford Aerospace. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a survivor of Pearl Harbor. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Vista.
Mr. Allison was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Ruth Allison, on Dec. 9, 1998. He is survived by his sons, Gary Allison of Burbank, Randy Allison of Huntington Beach and Fritz Allison of Denver; daughters Wendy Gershkoff of Oceanside and Penny Carter of Denver; brothers Robert Allison of Redondo Beach and Carl Allison of Oklahoma City, Okla.; sisters Marilyn Baie of Anaheim and Helen Sisson of Murrieta; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A private family service is planned. A private interment will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Carole Shrader, 78
ESCONDIDO - Carole Jennie Shrader, 78, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, at Kaiser Zion Hospital.
Born Aug. 19, 1921, in Virginia, she lived in Escondido for 20 years. She was an administrative supervisor for Kaiser Zion Hospital.
Mrs. Shrader is survived by her husband of 63 years, Frank Shrader of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Janet Ann and Leif Werneid of Rancho Palos Verde; brothers Jack Smith of Arizona and Max Smith of Virginia; sisters and brothers-in-law Myrtle Anders , Reva Elswick and Frankie Jessee, all of Florida, Edna Hartong and Verla Harrison, both of Virginia; grandchildren Lisa Smeaton, Michelle Jewett and Kristian Werneid; and great-grandchildren Wyatt Smeaton and Elias and Kai Henley.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, June 3, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, with Dr. Ralph Johnson officiating. A funeral service will follow at 10 a.m. Entombment will take place at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Nancy Peavy, 75
RANCHO BERNARDO - Nancy Peavy, 75, died Sunday, May 28, 2000, in Rancho Bernardo.
Born April 19, 1925, in Richmond, Va., she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 31 years. She worked for the Escondido School District before retiring in June 1987. She was a member of the Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido and a graduate of Randolph Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, Va.
Mrs. Peavy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Merrill A. Peavy of Rancho Bernardo; son and daughter-in-law George M. and Lynn B. Peavy of San Clemente; daughters and son-in-law Lynn M. Leszczynski of La Jolla and Anne E. and Steve E. Breight of Leona Valley; and grandchildren Leonard J. Leszczynski III, Jennifer L. Leszczynski, Elizabeth A. Leszczynski, Edward J. Brieght, Merrilee L. Breight and Neil Breight.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 2, at Emmanuel Faith Community Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Jim Learned officiating. A private graveside service will take place at Dearborn Memorial Park. A private interment is planned.
The family suggests memorial donations to Guide Dogs of America, 13445 Glenoaks Blvd., Sylmar, CA 91342; and the American Cancer Society, 12405 Rancho Bernardo Road, San Diego, CA 92128.

Judith Coffman, 63
SUN CITY - Judith Ella Coffman, 63, died Saturday, May 27, 2000, of lung cancer, at Sun City Convalescent Center.
Born March 8, 1937, in Waterbury, Conn., she lived in Sun City for eight years. She was a supervisor for Deutsch in Banning for five years.
Mrs. Coffman is survived by her husband, Robert Coffman of Sun City; son Todd Coffman of Johnston Valley; daughter Sherry Reynolds of Temecula; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City.

Marlin Kapitzke, 82
SUN CITY - Marlin Alfred Kapitzke, 82, died Monday, May 29, 2000, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Sept. 18, 1917, in Weyauwega, Wis., he lived in Sun City for 17 years. He was a self-employed painter in Anaheim for 24 years and a member of St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Fallbrook for 17 years.
Mr. Kapitzke is survived by his wife, Helen Kapitzke of Sun City; sons Glen Kapitzke of Fortuna, Jerald Kapitzke and Neal Kapitzke, both of Sun City; daughter Charlene Steele of St. Paul, Minn.; brothers Donald Kapitzke and Harold Kapitzke, both of Appleton, Wis., Edgar Kapitzke of Neenah, Wis., Gary Kapitzke of Dunnellon, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 2, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3, at St. Stevens Lutheran Church in Fallbrook. Burial will take place at Perris Valley Cemetery.

Thomas Gerow, 69
VISTA - Thomas Wellington Gerow, 69, died Friday, May 26, 2000.
Born Jan. 1, 1931, in Houlton, Maine, he lived in San Diego County for 30 years.
He was a manufacturing engineer for Hughes Aircraft for 35 years, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church of Vista, Vista American Legion, and Vista VFW. He was a sergeant in the Army from 1948-52.
Mr. Gerow is survived by his wife of 44 years, Juletta "Jill" Gerow of Vista; son Kevin Gerow of Carlsbad; Daughters and son-in-law Dianne and Sim Kucharyski of Murrieta, and Patricia Randall and Mary Gerow, both of Vista; grandchildren Joseph Kucharyski, Jamie Kucharyski, Valerie Garcia and Paul Randall; and great-grandchildren Jacob Kucharyski and Austin Garcia.
Visitation/viewing is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, May 29, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Visa Chapel; a vigil service is scheduled for 7 p.m. Monday. Mass will be celebrated and a funeral is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at St. Francis Catholic Church.
Interment will take place at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.

Evelyn Finnern, 54
SUN CITY - Evelyn Carol Finnern, 54, died Tuesday, May 23, 2000, at Loma Linda University Medical Center.
Born July 4, 1945, in Littlerock, Ark., she lived in Sun City for five years. She was self-employed as a nurse for nine years.
She is survived by her father, Arthur Lesure; sons Arthur Cox of Los Angeles, Ernest Cox of Tehachapi and Trevor Gray of Los Angeles; daughters Carolyn Cox of Las Vegas and Patricia Cox of San Bernardino; brothers Arthur Lesure of San Bernardino, Walter Lesure of Texas and Anthony Lyons of Los Angeles; sisters Hazel Lesure and Jeanetta Lesure, both of Los Angeles, and Francine Nash of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.
A service was held Sunday, May 28, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Arthur Lesure officiating. A second service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Perris Valley Cemetery.
Miller-Jones Mortuary and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.

John Fick, 37
OCEANSIDE - John Fick, 37, died Tuesday, May 9, 2000, at Scripps Encinitas Hospital.
Born July 18, 1962, in Kirkwood, Mo., he lived in Oceanside for five years. He was a notary public and a member of Cornerstone Community Church.
Mr. Fick was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his wife of two years, Concepcion Fick of Oceanside; mother Betty Cavner of Forsyth, Mo.; brother Ben Fick of Port Mansfield, Texas; and sister Christine Hall of Branson, Mo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at the Cornerstone Community Church in Oceanside, with the Rev. Frank Keeler officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Bruno Glab, 77
VISTA - Bruno P. Glab, 77, died Wednesday, May 10, 2000, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Nov. 3, 1922, in Chicago, he lived in Vista for 10 years. He was a mechanical engineer with Lockheed for 26 years and served in the U.S. Army during World War II, receiving a Purple Heart. He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Vista and the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Glab is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia Glab of Vista; sons Ray Glab of San Diego and Terry Glab of San Ramon; daughters Celeste Mercy of San Dimas and Monique Gustason of Orangevale; brother Henry Glab of Corvallis, Ore.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a vigil service at 7 p.m. today, May 15, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Vista, with the Rev. Patrick Mulcahy officiating. Interment icon will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 2.
The family suggests memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 8514 Commerce Ave., San Diego, CA 92121; or the American Parkinson's Disease Association, 4501 Mission Bay Drive, Suite 1-F, San Diego, CA 92109.

Helen Anderson, 93
RANCHO BERNARDO - Helen Lucille Anderson, 93, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at her home.
Born Jan. 5, 1907, in Pittsburgh, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for one years. She was a homemaker for 67 years and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hammond, Ind., and the Rancho Bernardo Community Center Bridge Club.
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her husband of 67 years, Dale W. Anderson of Rancho Bernardo; sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Pat Anderson of Niles, Ohio, and William and Claire Anderson of Livonia, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 16, at Burns-Kisch Funeral Home in Munster, Ind. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Evelyn Bachmann, 86
ESCONDIDO - Evelyn E. Bachmann, 86, died Friday, May 5, 2000, in Escondido.
Born June 27, 1913, in Illinois, she lived in Escondido for 15 years. She was a physical therapist and a member of the First Methodist Church in Escondido.
Mrs. Bachmann was preceded in death by her brother, Walter Bachmann, on Sept. 11, 1998. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Nita Bachmann of Escondido; nephews James Bachmann, Brian Bachmann and Bill Bachmann; niece Jeanne Roldness; and great-niece Julie Bachmann.
A private cremation is planned.

Cyril O'Hagan, 72
SAN MARCOS - Cyril Joseph O'Hagan, 72, died Thursday, May 11, 2000, at his home in San Marcos.
Born Jan. 10, 1928, in Limerick, Ireland, he lived in San Marcos. He worked for TWA.
Mr. O'Hagan is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rosemary O'Hagan of San Marcos; sons Thomas O'Hagan of Culver City and Kevin O'Hagen of San Marcos; daughter Kathleen O'Hagan of Vista; brother Patrick O'Hagan of Limerick; sisters Mary O'Hagan, Anita Hannon and Lillian Keogh, all of Limerick.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. today, May 15, at Mission San Luis Rey Church. A Mass will be celebrated at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at Mission San Luis Rey Parish Chapel, with the Rev. Michel Gagnon officiating. Burial will follow at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery.

Floyd Eno, 87
TEMECULA - Floyd Alonzo Eno, 87, died Saturday, April 29, 2000, in Temecula.
Born March 30, 1913, in Riverhurst, Saskatchewan, he lived in Temecula for 20 years. He worked for Hughes Aircraft in Canada before retiring and served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He graduated from the University of British Columbia.
Mr. Eno is survived by his sons, David Eno of Federal Way, Wash., Gary Eno of Berkeley and Robert Eno of Temecula; daughter Julie Eno of Temecula; sister Elva Millet of Santa Barbara; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the First Baptist Church of Temecula, with the Rev. Field officiating.

Jack Davitian, 68
TEMECULA - Jack Paul Davitian, 68, died Monday, May 1, 2000, of a coronary infarction, at Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta.
Born Jan. 25, 1932, in Los Angeles, he lived in Temecula for one year. He was an electrician and a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He retired in 1987. He was also a board member of Ararat Convalescent Retirement Home.
Mr. Davitian is survived by his wife, Wilma Davitian of Temecula; stepson Chuck Geletko of Bellflower; daughters Dawn Davitian of Temecula and Karen Davitian of Costa Mesa; stepdaughter Sandra Geletko of Providence, R.I.; sisters Rose Hekimian of Carson City, Nev., and Novie Eilts of Fresno; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held and a Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, May 5, at St. Catherine's of Alexandria.

Elsie Reilly, 92
SUN CITY - Elsie Reilly, 92, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at her home.
Born June 10, 1907, in Ashland, Ala., she lived in Sun City for 28 years. She was a registered nurse for the U.S. Navy for 20 years, serving as lieutenant commander. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, the American Legion, the Retired Officers Association, the Navy Nurses Corps Association and Southern California Travel Club. She was a charter member of the Cherry Hills Club.
Mrs. Reilly was preceded in death by her husband, Lt. Teddy Thomas, USN Retired; and her second husband, Thomas F. Reilly, M.D.; and eight brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sisters, Lucile Stewart Willis of Birmingham, Ala., and Annie Jo Stewart Greathouse of Kemp, Texas; nephews Tommy Stewart of Clanton, Ala., Charles Thomas of Long Beach, Edward Reilly, M.D., of Houston, Wayne Stewart of Kemp, Ricky Stewart of Alexander City, Ala., and Robert M. Willis, Ed.D., of Birmingham; niece Pat Elliott of Mesquite, Texas; and several grandnephews and grandnieces.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today, May 4, at Evans Brown Sun City Chapel. A funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, May 5, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary. Burial will take place at Perris Valley Cemetery.

Maurice Burns, 78
ESCONDIDO - Maurice "Morrie" Burns, 78, died Monday, May 1, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 26, 1921, in Santa Monica, he lived in Escondido for 73 years. He worked in electrical operations at the Escondido operations center for San Diego Gas & Electric for 41 years and served in the U.S. Navy from 1943 to 1945. He was a charter member of the Escondido Elks and a certified ornitologist.
Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Grace M. Burns. He is survived by his son, Rickey L. Burns of Escondido; daughters Melanie Davis of Jamul and Darina Archer of Hawaii; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Neighborhood Church in Escondido, with the Rev. Garry Musser of Jamul Community Church officiating. The family requests casual attire. A private interment will take place at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma at a date to be determined.
The family suggests memorial donations to Elizabeth Hospice, 150 W. Crest St., Escondido, CA 92025.

Haru Uchimura, 91
FALLBROOK - Haru Uchimura, 91, died Monday, May 1, 2000.
Born Sept. 27, 1908, in Moneta, she lived in Fallbrook for many years. She was Nisei, a second-generation American Japanese.
Mrs. Uchimura is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Mae Uchimura and Dr. Richard and Carole Uchimura; daughters and sons-in-law Ruth Ruiko Kukumoto, Kiyoko Jane and Shooichi Inada, Michiko Mary and Mas Honda and Jerrold Briscoe; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and nephews, nieces and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Vista Buddhist Temple, with the Rev. Lee Rosenthal officiating.
