Anne Carroll, 78
POWAY - Anne M. Carroll, 78, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at Villa Pomerado Nursing Home.
Born July 16, 1922, in Birmingham, Ala., she was a resident of Poway since 1974. She was an active member of Poway Community Church, AAUW and the PTA. She received her bachelor's and master's degrees from New York University after graduating from Grady School of Nursing in Atlanta. She held teaching positions at Willard School of Nursing, Texas College, Buellevue Mills School of Nursing and Palomar Community College.
Mrs. Carroll is survived by her husband of 40 years, Joel Carroll; sons Joel A. Carroll of Phoenix, Bernard E. Carroll of Poway and Harlan P. Carroll of Pasadena; brother Russell Merriweather of Nashville, Tenn.; sister Bernice Walker of Birmingham, Ala.; several nieces and nephews; and friends.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Sautrday, Dec. 2, at Poway Community Church of Poway with the Rev. Chris Buckingham-Taylor officiating. Inurnment will be at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Lillian Smith, 89
FALLBROOK - Lillian Brock Smith, 89, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Born Nov. 30, 1910, in Birmingham, Ala. she was a resident of Fallbrook for nine years. She was a retired homemaker. She was a past member of the Friendly Neighbors Club of Birmingham and past member of the Wilson Chapel United Methodist Church of Birmingham.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Claude W. Smith, in 1985. She is survived by son Gary B. Smith of Maryland; daughter Greta S. Yeager of Fallbrook; brother Oliver Brock of Birmingham; sister Ludell Davis of Oakridge, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Rideout's Roebuck Chapel in Birmingham. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. with burial following at Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham.

Louis Rodriguez, 55
VISTA - Louis Rodriguez, 55, died Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Tri-City Medial Center.
Born Nov. 15, 1945, at Camp Pendleton, he was a resident of Vista. He was a truck driver.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his mother, Stella R. Rodriguez of Vista; daughter Jenna Rae Price of Fort Monroe, Va.; sons Joshua Rodriguez and Justin Rodriguez, both of Oceanside; sister Adela Leyva of Vista; brothers Bill Rodriguez of Tucson, Ariz., and Richard Rodriguez of Oceanside; sister Dora Valadez of Portsmouth, Va; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at Mission San Luis Rey, with the funeral service starting at 6 p.m. There will be a private interment.

Edward Lump, 75
BARSTOW - Edward John Lump, 75, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000.
Born June 24, 1925, in Chicago, Ill., he was a resident of Vista for 35 years. He was self-employed. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a member of Cootie, VFW, American Legion and St. John of Damacus.
Mr. Lump was preceded in death by his wife, Anastasia Lump, in 1976. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Ed and Pattie Geis of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Katherine and Bob Leech-McKinney of San Marcos and Anna Bridgeman of San Jose; and grandchildren Rebecca Bridgeman, Bethany McKinney, Andrew Lump and Paul Jenkins.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Eternal Hills Mortuary with interment following the service at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Charlotte Vaught, 76
ESCONDIDO - Charlotte Vaught, 76, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000.
Born March 13, 1924, in Peoria, Ill., she was a resident of Escondido for five months. She was homemaker for 55 years. She was a member of the Chalice Unitarian Church in Poway.
Mrs. Vaught was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas B. Vaught, on Sept. 13, 1989. She is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Thomas B. Vaught Jr. and Lenore Vaughtof Huntsville, Ala.; daughters and sons-in-law Susan and Michael Fuhr of Germany, Margaret and Dr. G. Douglas Moir of Escondido and Barbara and Robert Brearton of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister Mrs. James Matheson of Santee; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A private cremation and scattering at sea is planned.

George X. McKenna, 73
OCEANSIDE - Lt. Col. George X. McKenna, 73, died Thursday, Nov. 26, 2000.
Born Nov. 24, 1927, in San Francisco, he was a resident of Oceanside for 23 years. He was a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Marine Corp and served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He belonged to the Retired Officers Association.
Retired Marine Lieutenant Colonel McKenna is survived by his wife, Margaret McKenna of Oceanside; sons James McKenna of Carlsbad and Michael McKenna of Oceanside; daughter Sherri Hendrickson of Corte Madera; brother Leo McKenna; sister Mary McFadden; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation is scheduled from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today, Nov. 30, at Ranch House Chapel, Camp Pendleton Marine Base, with a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with Patrick Keeley officiating. Interment
will follow the service to Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Oceanside with military honors.

OCEANSIDE - LaVona Anne Solorio, 60, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2000, at San Diego Hospice.
Born June 20, 1940, in Deer Lodge, Mont., she was a resident of Oceanside for eight years. She was a supervisor for San Diego Trust and Savings for 25 years.
Ms. Solorio is survived by son, Brian Solorio of Phelan; daughters and sons-in-law Jennifer and Chris Carroll of San Marcos and Colleen and Patrick O'Connor of Carlsbad; brothers Robert Morris of San Diego and Thomas Morris of Hermosa Beach; sisters Gail Morris of Priest River, Idaho, and Joan Morris of Helena, Mont.; and grandchildren Nathaniel Solorio, Geoffrey Solorio, Sean O'Connor, McKenzie O'Connor, Brendon Carroll and Conor Carroll.
A Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Mission San Luis Rey Cemetery, Old Mission Church in Oceanside, with the Rev. Garrett Galvin officiating. Burial will follow the Mass at the Mission Cemetery.

ENCINITAS - Emma Wall, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at Scripps Memorial Hospital.
Born June 19, 1910, in Russell, Kan., she was a resident of Vista. She was retired from J.C. Penney in Aurora, Colo., and had been a primary school teacher in Russell. She was a volunteer at the County Court House and a member of The Corona Club of Vista and a past member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Wall was preceded in death by her husband, Claire Wall; brothers Adam and Herb Bender; sisters Isabelle Miller and Esther Lundy; and sister-in-law Mildred Mace. She is survived by daughter Shirley Dahlquist-Bursvold and her husband, Don, of Carlsbad; brother and sister-in-law Richard Althea Bender of Needles; brother-in-law Dave Mace of Smith Center; nephew Bob Lundy and wife Lisa of Halfmoon Bay; and grandchildren Debra and Tom Dahlquist Fant of Oceanside, Michael Derek Dahlquist of Vista, Richard and Anna Dahlquist of Truckee, Nev.
Funeral services were held on Nov. 22 at the Simmons Mortuary, Smith Center, Kan., with the Rev. John Strecker-Baseler officiating. Burial is at Fairview Cemetery, Smith Center, Kan.
Virginia Blinman, 85
VISTA - Virginia M. Blinman, 85, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2000.
Born Nov. 29, 1914, in Salt Lake City, she was a resident of Oceanside for 54 years. She retired from Elm's Clothing in 1986. She was a member of Oceanside Emblem Club, Oceanside Athletic Club and Beta Sgma Phi.
Mrs. Blinman is survived by her husband of 47 years, Herbert Blinman of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Marla Gay and Douglas Deason of Loveland, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law Gorham and Bernice Miller of Culver City; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. today, Nov. 30, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with a private interment at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

ESCONDIDO - Joyce E. Clendenin, 65, died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000.
Born March 12, 1935, in Longview, Texas, she was a resident of Escondido for nine years. She was an executive secretary at Clendenin and Associates.
Mrs. Clendenin is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Clendenin of Escondido; sons Mark Grigsby of Walnut Creek and Dan Grigsby of Pacific Palasade; daughter Lisa Pilkington of Mission Viejo; sisters Elaine Richmond of Bakersfield, Katy Parker of Las Vegas and Marilyn Beatse of Illinois; and 15 grandchildren.
A memorial is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at Calvary Chapel in Escondido A private inurnment is planned.

John McGreevy, 64
LA JOLLA - John McGreevy, 64, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000.
Born Nov. 30, 1935, in New York City, he was a resident of San Marcos for seven years. He was a hotel and restaurant concierge and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.
Mr. McGreevy is survived by his daughters Laura McGreevy of Washington and Jennifer McGreevy of Georgia; brothers Edward McGreevy and Robert McGreevy, both of New York, and Fred McGreevy of Washington; and sister Kathleen McDermott of Florida.
Memorial services will be at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Beck's Hill Cemetery, South Salem, N.Y.

Born Nov. 24, 1944, she was a resident of Escondido for 15 years.
Ms. Clem was preceded in death by her father, Roland Lussier. She is survived by her mother, Mary Lussier of Clairmont; daughter and son-in-law Donna and Paul Bennett of Escondido; and grandchildren Seth, Larissa and Tiffany Claire.

ESCONDIDO - Agapito Sandoval, 83, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at his residence.
Born Nov. 3, 1917, in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, he was a resident of Escondido for 41 years. He was an auto salesman for 25 years.
Mr. Sandoval is survived by his wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Sandoval of Escondido; daughter and son-in-law Marie and George Lottritz of Eureka; brother Manuel Sandoval of Portland, Ore.; sister Martina Rodriges-Sandoval of Los Angeles; grandchildren John, Laura, Cinthya and George Lottritz; and great-grandchildren Hanna and Sarah.

ESCONDIDO - Martha Maxcy Beresford, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Feb. 16, 1916, in Mesa Grande, she was a resident of Mesa Grande all her life. She was a homemaker.
Ms. Beresford was preceded in death by her daughter Connie Maxcy; sons Richard and Juanie Maxcy; grandson Hondo Maxcy; and great-grandsons Richard Cuevas and John W. Osuna. She is survived by her companion of 37 years, Gilbert Sebastian Paipa of Inaja; sons Ed "Skippy" Maxcy of Stockton, Poncho Maxcy of Mesa Grande, Jack Beresford of La Jolla Indian Reservation, and Mr. X Beresford of Mesa Grande; daughters Patsy Sexton of Escondido, Jojo Royer of Palm Desert and Rodie Ragsdale of Escondido; sisters Elizabeth Trujillo of San Diego and Lucille Linton of Rincon; first cousin Lorraine Hyde of Pechanga; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Born March 19, 1919, in Mexico, he was a resident of Escondido for 14 years. He was a retired travel agent and a member of Cathedral of the Valley Foursquare Church.
Mr. Alvarado is survived by his wife of 23 years, Jeri Alvarado of Escondido; son Omar Alvarado Jr. of Cancun, Mexico; daughters and son-in-law Victoria Alvarado of Los Angeles, Patricia and Ian Woolf of Westhills and Adriana Alvarado of Mexico City; brother Raul Alvarado of Mexico City; grandchildren Omar Alvarado III of Vail, Colo., Keith and Erik Woolf of Westhills, and Rodrigo and Alexandro Alvarado both of Uruguay.

NUEVO - Joyce Alice Brower, 68, died Friday, Nov. 10, 2000, of complications from Alzheimer's disease.
Born in Bloomingdale, N.J., she was a resident of Nuevo for eight years. She was a caregiver at Cherry Hills Retirement Club.
Mrs. Brower is survived by her husband William H. Brower of Nuevo; daughter Joyce Lisa of Nuevo; sons Bill Brower of Genesse, Pa., and Keith Brower of Lawndale; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 6 p.m. Nov. 15, at Evans-Brown Mortuary. There was a private cremation.

Gordon Priebe, 83
SUN CITY - Gordon A. Priebe, 83, died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Moreno Valley Community Hospital of emphysema.
Born May 29, 1917, in Lotts Creek, Iowa, he was a resident of Sun City for 15 years. He was a co-pilot for Superior Oil for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening golf, bridge and traveling.
Mr. Priebe is survived by daughters Virginia Scott of Sun City, Gloria Anderson of Aurora, Ill., and Janice Priebe of Pomona; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Dec. 1, at Evans-Brown Sun City Mortuary. Funeral services are at 2:30 p.m. There will be a private cremation.

Edna Weatherby, 90
TEMECULA - Edna Earl Weatherby, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, of a stroke.
Born Feb. 5, 1910, in Kentwood, La., she was a resident of Temecula for six years. She was retired from Thermador in Los Angeles and also as a union secretary. She retired in 1969 to Canyonville, Ore., and moved to Temecula in 1995.
Mrs. Weatherby was preceded in death by her husband, William Elmer Weatherby, in 1971 and daughter Edna Earleene Weatherby in 1995. She is survived by daughter Bennie Clyde Weatherby of Fredonia, Kan.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service and interment was held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.
