VISTA - Karen L. Dorn, 56, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Vista.
Born June 17, 1944, in Torrance, she lived in Vista for 22 years.
She was a photographic assembler for CA Temp Industries, a member of All Saints Episcopal Church and a volunteer with the Arthritis Foundation.
Ms. Dorn is survived by her son, Steven Dorn of Fontana; daughters and son-in-law Kathryn and Alejandro Ruiz of San Diego and Lauri Dorn of Downey; and two grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at El Camino Memorial Park, with the Rev. Bill Dopp officiating. Burial will follow at 11 a.m.

Dora Solorzano, 67
OCEANSIDE - Dora Quintania Solorzano, 67, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at Tri-City Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1933, in Texas, she lived in Oceanside for 45 years. She was a homemaker for 42 years.
Mrs. Solorzano is survived by her husband of 42 years, Cesar Solorzano of Oceanside; son Cesar E. Solorzano of Oceanside; daughter and son-in-law Miriam J. and Victor of Valladares of Oceanside; brother Pedro and Eufemia Quintania of Vista; sisters Beatriz Angulo of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Amelia Torres of Salem, Ore.; and grandchildren Vanessa Valladares and Victor C. Valladares Jr.
Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel.
A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at Eternal Hills Chapel, with the Rev. Jesus Campa officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Wilda LaVoie, 87

RAMONA - Wilda LaVoie, 87, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000.
Born Dec. 25, 1912, in Higgins, Texas, she lived in Ramona for 22 years. She enjoyed sports and bridge and was a salesperson at a car dealership in the '40s. She later owned and operated a boutique in the Belmont Shore section of Long Beach. She also sold mobile homes in Ramona Terrace Mobile Estates.
Mrs. LaVoie was preceded in death by her husband, Lee LaVoie, in 1983. She is survived by her daughters, Joan Stewart of Seattle and Carole Loken of Westminster; sisters Norma Harding of Port Angeles and Anemone Corman of Browns Valley; brother Bennet Smith of Oakhurst; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Her ashes will be placed with those of her later husband at the Riverside Veterans Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial donations to the American Heart Association, 3640 Fifth Ave., San Diego, CA 92101; or the American Lung Association, 2750 Fourth Ave., San Diego, CA 92103.

ENCINITAS - Esther Jeanne Muzeka, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, in Encinitas.
She was born March 12, 1922, in Paris, Ill., and was a homemaker.
Mrs. Muzeka is survived by her husband, Theodore Muzeka; daughter Laura Shook of Tucson, Ariz.; son Michael Muzeka of Escondido; and brother Stanley Major of Florida.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Oakdale Memorial in Glendora.

Anna Cooney, 86
SAN MARCOS - Anna Cooney, 86, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Vista.
Born March 2, 1914, in Missouri, she lived in San Marcos for 18 years. She worked for State Farm Insurance and was a member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Cooney was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Cooney, in 1996; and her sister, Miriam Schufbach, in 1999. She is survived by her son, Frank Cooney of Salt Lake City; grandchildren Christopher, Dominique, Joseph and Monica; and four great-grandchildren.
A private service is planned.

Shirley Radtke, 79
RANCHO BERNARDO - Shirley Mildred Radtke, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in San Diego.
Born Jan. 5, 1921, in Chicago, she lived in Rancho Bernardo for 24 years. She was a jewelry salesperson at CD Peacock in Chicago before retiring and served as a volunteer for Scripps Hospital since 1982, giving more than 3,312 service hours.
Mrs. Radtke is survived by her son, Kenneth F. Radtke Jr. of Lake Forest, Ill.; daughter Linda Anderson of Rancho Bernardo; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Lutheran Church of the Incarnation in Poway, with the Rev. Jack Lindquist officiating. A private cremation is planned.

Charles Johnson, 66
PERRY, Ohio - Charles W. Johnson Jr., 66, died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, in Ohio.
Born July 16, 1934, in Uniontown, Pa., he lived in Perry for five years and had lived in the Oceanside-San Diego area for more than 36 years. He worked in the motor transport areas at Camp Pendleton and Mira Mar.
Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his wife, Maria Elena Johnson, in 1992. He is survived by his wife of five years, Patricia Johnson of Ohio; sons and daughters-in-law Charles III and Lisa Johnson of Lake Elsinore and Ronald A. and Rebecca Johnson and Leonard and Karen Johnson, all of Oceanside; daughters and son-in-law Anna Johnson of Oceanside and Patricia and Rick Owens of Tennessee; brothers Robert Johnson and James Johnson, both of Ohio; sisters and brothers-in-law Jean and Emil Johnson of Ohio and Beverly and John Berdar of Pennsylvania; and 10 grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Eternal Hills Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. Garrett Galvin officiating. Interment icon will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Delphine Winfield, 80
RAMONA - Delphine Jean Winfield, 80, died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2000, at her home.
Born Sept. 21, 2000, in Illinois, she lived in Ramona for five years. She was a statistician for Rockwell International before retiring in 1970 and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista.
Mrs. Winfield was preceded in death by her husband, Carl I. Winfield, in 1993. She is survived by her son, Jerome McCormick Dixon of Arizona; daughter and son-in-law Karen Lynn and Neil Switzer of Ramona; grandchildren Rebecca Dickens, Kristie Switzer, Anthony Lee Ramirez, Neil Switzer Jr. and Amanda Marie Switzer; and great-grandchildren Brianna Sky Ramirez, Autumn Dickens, Taylor Dickens and Ramsey Switzer.
A private interment will be held at Riverside National Cemetery.

Dale Beaver, 68
ESCONDIDO - Dale Samuel Beaver, 68, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, in Escondido.
Born May 29, 1932, in Noblesville, Ind., he lived in Escondido for 20 years. He was a major in the U.S. Marine Corps before retiring.
Mr. Beaver is survived by his wife of eight years, Edna H. Beaver of Escondido; son David Beaver of San Diego; daughters Beth Goerner of Blue, Texas, and Kathie Stikar of New Mexico; sisters Kay Vesey and Suzie Blazer, both of Noblesville; and nephew Scott Lowther of Noblesville.
A private cremation is planned.

Everette Healy, 87
BURSNVILLE, Minn. - Everette Frederick Healy, 87, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, of cardiopulmonary disease.
Born Feb. 16, 1913, in Edmonton, Canada, he lived in San Diego, Orange County and Minnesota. He served in the U.S. Army for four years during World War II in Australia, New Guinea and Hawaii. He served as a church deacon and chairman for 45 years and in church choirs for 56 years. He toured the U.S. and Europe with a men's quarter and played the harmonica. He was the owner of Healy Refrigeration Corporation.
Mr. Healy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Caroline and Frank Healy; two brothers; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Doris Esther Olson Healy; daughters Jan Healy Zilli, Carolyn Healy Vaught, Becky Healy Baker, Joey Healy, Federica Healy Venturini, BJ Healy Gamaus, Kathy Healy, Diana Healy Love and Rita Healy Greiner; brothers Ellwyn Healy and Fremont Healy; sister Esther Healy Noordmans; 52 grandchildren; 26 foster children; and nieces and nephews.
Viewing and a memorial concert of his favorite hymns were held Wednesday, Oct. 4, at Albin Chapel in Eden Prairie, Minn. Interment icon took place Thursday, Oct. 5, at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, with military honors. A celebration of life followed at Wooddale Church in Eden Prairie.

Ann Phy, 89
OCEANSIDE - Ann Fae Phy, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Life Care Center of Vista.
Born May 5, 1911, in Redlands, she lived in Oceanside for 32 years. She was a homemaker for 64 years.
Mrs. Phy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Phy, in 1988. She is survived by her lifetime friends, Robert and Elizabeth Heine of Fallbrook, Karen Saindon of Temecula, Karl Heine of Westchester, Pa., and Kristine and Myles Jorgensen of Kingman, Ariz.; nieces Fae Hart and Dorothy Richardson, both of Prescott Valley, and Cecil Kennedy of Phoenix; and nephew William Perkins of Phoenix.
A graveside service will be held at noon Saturday, Oct. 14, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park. Burial will follow.
The family suggests memorial donations to Hospice by the Sea, 312 S. Cedros Ave., Suite 250, Solana Beach, CA 92075.

May Flammang, 93
SALT LAKE CITY - May V. Flammang, 93, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2000, at a convalescent hospital.
Born Nov. 17, 1906, in Freedom, Neb., she lived in Ramona for many years and had lived in Escondido. She co-owned and operated an appliance store in Ramona for more than 30 years. She also survived the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.
Mrs. Flammang was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Lawrence Flammang, in 1976. She is survived by her brothers, Fay Goddard of Medford, Ore., Asa Goddard of Cashmere, Wash., and Roy Goddard of Overland Park, Kan.; sisters Ina Bashford of Chula Vista and Oma Andersen of Murray, Utah; and many nieces and nephews, including Roger Bashford of Salt Lake City.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Ramona Nuevo Memory Gardens, with the Rev. Barbara Parnell of the Ramona United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will follow next to her husband.

Narciso Rodriguez, 74
ESCONDIDO - Narciso Rodriguez, 74, died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000, in Escondido.
Born Sept. 10, 1926, in New Mexico, he lived in Escondido for 26 years. He was a self-employed security officer for 20 years.
Mr. Rodriguez is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, David Rodriguez of Grants, N.M., Joseph and Roseanne Rodriguez of Albuquerque, N.M., Mark and Rusty Rodriguez of Escondido and Frank and Carolyn Rodriguez of Temecula; grandchildren Christina, Bryan, Pamela and David Rodriguez; and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 13, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

SUN CITY - Donald Leon Jones, 64, died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, of cardiopulmonary arrest, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Oct. 6, 1935, in Chicago, he lived in Sun City for two years. He was a boat builder in California for 25 years.
Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Joan Jones of Sun City; daughters Evelyn Chan of Riverside and Virginia Moore of Santa Cruz; sons Richard Jones of Lake Elsinore and Stephen Jones of Sun City; sisters Erma Builtheis of Long Beach, Joyce Freeman of Sun City and Delores Marks of Homeland; brothers Loren Jones of Corona, Palmer Jones, Ray Jones and Stephen Jones, all of Sun City, and Patrick Jones of Laguna Beach; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at Miller-Jones Mortuary. Burial will take place at Elsinore Valley Cemetery.

Joanna Okonski, 86
TEMECULA - Joanna Eugenia Okonski, 86, died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, of congestive heart failure.
Born May 24, 1914, in Dubuque, Iowa, she lived in Orange County for 26 years before moving to Temecula. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Catherine of Alexandria Catholic Church in Temecula and the Women's Guild.
Mrs. Okonski is survived by her daughters, Barbara Malkowski, Christine C. Brown and Elizabeth A. Okonski; son Chester Andrew Okonski; brother Casimir Wisniewski; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held and a rosary recited Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. today, Oct. 11, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Tustin. Burial will take place at Ascension Cemetery in Lake Forest.

Ronald Smith, 59
ESCONDIDO - Ronald E. Smith, 59, died Monday, Oct. 2, 2000, of cancer, at his home.
Born May 14, 1941, in El Centro, he lived in Kansas City for 22 years and grew up in Escondido. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Escondido. He earned an associate of arts degree from Palomar College, where he was president of the student body, a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and economics from the University of Redlands in 1964 and a master of business administration from the University of Southern California in 1967. He served in the U.S. Naval Air Reserve and was an executive for Ford Motor Co. in Seattle, Anchorage, Alaska, Portland, Ore., Phoenix and Kansas City, Mo., resigning in 1980 as regional operations manager. He was part owner of Varnum, Armstrong and Deeter in Overland Park, Kan., Freedom Chevrolet in Liberty, Mo., and 1st National Bank of Platte County. He was involved in many real estate/business investments.
Ron was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his son, Larry Allen Smith of Southern California; daughter Tina Marie Smith of Southern California; mother Verna G. Smith of Escondido; sister Janice Smith Gensel of Knoxville, Tenn.; and nephew and niece Mark and Lisa King, both of Knoxville.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Christ Church Unity in Kansas City, Mo. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. He will be buried next to his father in the family plot, with the Rev. Ralph Johnson officiating.
