SAN MARCOS - Fred "F.W.G." Fulton, 84, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, from complications of diabetes, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born Oct. 20, 1916, in San Diego, he lived in San Marcos. He worked for Rohr Aerospace Manufacturing before retiring Jan. 1, 1979. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the United Methodist Church in San Marcos and of Forrester.
Mr. Fulton is survived by his wife of 10 years, Madelaine Fulton of San Marcos; sons and daughters-in-law Packy and Lynne McFarland of Villa Park and John and Kathleen McFarland of Fountain Valley; daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Joel Rusher of San Diego and Merry and Roger Williams of San Marcos; brothers and sister-in-law Floyd "Bud" Fulton and Lee "Celia" Fulton; grandchildren Michelle, Colleen, Kelsey, Shannon, Teddy, Mikaela, Kendall and Forrest; and great-grandchildren William and Shawn.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m.. Monday, Oct. 23, at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Paul Dinkle officiating. A private inurnment will take place at San Marcos Cemetery.

Louise Flores, 58
CARLSBAD - Louise Ruth Flores (Mullins), 58, died Thursday, Oct. 19, 2000, in Encinitas.
Born Nov. 5, 1941, in Los Angeles, she lived in Carlsbad. She was a homemaker and attended El Rancho High School in Pico Rivera with the class of 1959.
Mrs. Flores was preceded in death by her mother, "Mickey" Wilda Marie Bell, in 1985. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 40 years, RuBen Flores of Carlsbad; father Mack "Ardis" Bell; son and daughter-in-law Sonny and Louise Flores of Point Loma; daughters and sons-in-law Tina and Jeff Jones of Carlsbad, Robin and Harold Meyer of Poway and Holly and Eldon Price of Washington; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Ener Pico of Cottonwood; and nine grandchildren.
Visitation was held Friday, Oct. 20, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. today, Oct. 21, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. Interment

Otto Bass, 78
ESCONDIDO - Otto Bass, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, of cancer, at Palomar Medical Center.
Born April 10, 1922, in Vienna, Austria, he lived in the Rancho Bernardo/Poway area for the past 30 years. He was an electronic design engineer in Oceanside for 35 years and served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He enjoyed square dancing and tennis.
Mr. Bass was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Bass. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Dennis and Jane Masur of Poway; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Suzanna Bass of San Diego; and grandchildren Marti Bass, Joel Bass and Jared Bass, all of San Diego.
A private family funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 20, at Forest Lawn Mortuary in Hollywood Hills. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Temple Adat Shalom in Poway.

Vera Lewis, 92
RAMONA - Vera A. Lewis, 92, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at her home.
Born Nov. 28, 1907, in Oklahoma, she lived in Ramona for the past year since moving from Arizona. She was a court reporter for the Oklahoma City court system for 20 years and was a senior clerk for the city of Los Angeles. She was a member of the California Cat Fancier Association and was a cat breeder.
Mrs. Lewis is survived by her husband of 61 years, Moses Lewis of Ramona; son Gary Lewis of Ramona; daughter Ann Eastburg of Flagstaff, Ariz.; and four grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Bonham Bros. & Lee Mortuary Chapel. A committal service and burial will follow at Nuevo Memory Gardens in Ramona.

TEMECULA - Marie G. Furlow, 82, died Monday, Oct. 16, 2000, at her home.
Born Nov. 22, 1917, in Lake Charles, La., she lived in Temecula for 18 years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Furlow was preceded in death by her husband, William Furlow, on April 29, 1998. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Sharon and Thomas Burnup of Wallter, Texas, and Victoria Musen of Phoenix; sons Billy Furlow of Woodburn, Ore., and Clarence Furlow of Sea Lift Command; 18 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

VISTA - Margaret Mary McKeon, 94, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2000, in San Marcos.
Born June 22, 1906, in Greenwich, Conn., she lived in Vista for 16 years. She worked for Bell Telephone Co. before retiring in 1971 and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Vista.
Mrs. McKeon is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jeanne Miller of Salem, Ore., Benjamin and Ruth Miller of Albany, Ore., Paul J. Miller of Bend, Ore., and David Miller of Yuma, Ariz.; and daughters and son-in-law Barbara and Darwin Burnett of Bozeman, Mont., and Shirley and Tillman Rains of Stayton, Ore.

She is survived by her sons, Kelly Johnson of Huntington Beach, David Johnson of Orange and Hugh Johnson of Temecula; daughter Sue Alexander-Hanson of Solana Beach; sisters Mickey Schroeder of Vista, Ruth Conway of Hawthorne and Colleen Burchill of Pierre, S.D.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Shafer was preceded in death by her son, Doyle Shafer. Estella Estrada, 63
SUN CITY - Estella Virginia Estrada, 63, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, from an asthmatic attack, at her home.
Born Nov. 30, 1936, in Oxnard, she lived in Sun City. She graduated from Oxnard High School and worked in the housekeeping department at Cal State University Fullerton for 10 years. She enjoyed collecting dolls, singing, playing the piano, playing cards and board games and playing with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Estrada was preceded in death by her father, mother and three sisters. She is survived by her husband, Guadalupe Estrada of Sun City; sons Felipe Estrada of Perris, Jimmy Estrada of Placentia, Raynold Estrada of Moreno Valley and Ruben Estrada and Tony Estrada, both of Perris; brothers Gilbert Valenzuela, Louie Valenzuela and Robert Valenzuela, all of Oxnard; sisters Linda Morales of Oak View and Frances Valenzuela of Oxnard; and 10 grandchildren.

Darryl Osuna, 44
SANTA YSABEL - Darryl Osuna, 44, died Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2000, at a local hospital.
Born Jan. 10, 1956, in San Diego, he lived in Santa Ysabel his entire life. He was a graduate of Julian High School and worked for the U.S. Forest Service for four years and as a woodcutter. He was a member of the Santa Ysabel band of Indians and a member of the Santa Ysabel Indian Mission.
Mr. Osuna was preceded in death by his brother, Leonard J. Osuna Jr., in November 1999; and sisters Deborah Osuna in October 1999 and Cynthia Osuna in 1996. He is survived by his son, Jody Wayne; brothers Virgil Osuna and Manuel Osuna, both of Santa Ysabel; sisters Yolanda Osuna of Santa Ysabel and Ernestine Trujillo of Pala; uncle Ben Scerato of Santa Ysabel; and several nieces and nephew.

SAN MARCOS - Gloria D. Ramirez, 46, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000.
Born Nov. 21, 1954, she lived in San Marcos for 16 years. She worked for Lomas Santa Fe Cleaners and was a member of the Ladies' Auxilliary and a prayer group at the Apostolic Tabernacle of Solana Beach.

RANCHITA - Glenn C. Short, 83, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, at his home.
Born June 27, 1917, in Los Angeles, he lived in Ranchita for 14 years and previously lived in Hollywood. He was a carpenter for 60 years, building homes and boats.
Mr. Short is survived by his wife, Edith Short of Ranchita; son Glenn C. Short Jr. of Van Nuys; daughter Susan A. Smith of Phoenix; brother Ruel Short of Desert Hot Springs; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Ranchita Fire Station in Ranchita.

Glen Witty, 76
SAN MARCOS - Glen Witty, 76, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at his home.
Born Aug. 24, 1924, in Toronto, he lived in San Marcos for seven years. He was a bus driver for 27 years, serving longest with A.C. Transit Co. He served in the Canadian Army in Italy during World War II and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Richmond and the Amalgamated Transit Workers Union.
Mr. Witty is survived by his wife of 54 years, Janet Witty of San Marcos; daughter and son-in-law Carol and Michael Sousa of Pleasant Hill; brother and sister-in-law Grant and Roberta Witty of Newmarket, Ontario; grandchildren Laurie Robinson and husband Patrick and David Sousa and wife Michelle of San Ramon; and great-grandchildren Brittany Robinson and Adam Robinson, both of Castaic.

VISTA - Gertrude A. Loree-Nist, 86, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000.
Born June 14, 1914, in Bay City, Mich., she lived in Vista for 18 years. She was the owner of a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Oceanside before retiring in 1989 and a member of the Soroptimist Club.
Mrs. Loree-Nist was preceded in death by her husband, Louis A. Loree, in 1975. She is survived by her son, John Wheat of Santa Ana; daughters and sons-in-law Patricia and Albert Van Sumeran of Esseyville, Mich., Susan and Roger Getyina of Vista, and Ann and Richard Loree of Temecula; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Arthur Bailie, 93
FALLBROOK - Arthur Wesley Bailie, 93, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2000, of Alzheimer's, at Scripps Mercy Hospital in San Diego.
Born July 14, 1907, in Spokane, Wash., he lived in Fallbrook for 31 years and had previously lived in Los Angeles County. He was a quality control analyst for Grayson Division, Robert Shaw Fulton for 35 years before retiring in 1969. He was a member of Olivet Baptist Church in Lynwood for 30 years and Assembly of God Church in Fallbrook, serving as a Sunday school teacher and deacon. He managed an avocado grove, was a beekeeper and coin collector and enjoyed gardening.
Visitation was held Monday, Oct. 23, at Rose Hills Mortuary in Whittier. A graveside service followed at 3 p.m. at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Chapel Hill Lawn. A memorial service will take place at 3 p.m. today, Oct. 24, at The Living Waters Christian Fellowship, Fallbrook's Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Snider officiating.
