SAN MARCOS - Gloria Pattison, 77, died Monday, March 20, 2000, at her home in San Marcos.

Born June 6, 1922, in Jamaica, she lived in North County for 30 years. She was a caterer and a member of the Church of the Brethren.

Mrs. Pattison was preceded in death by her sister, Alma Young, in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Pattison of San Marcos; brother and sister-in-law Abe and Mickie Cowan of Shreveport, La.; sisters and brothers-in-law Alzier and Roy William of Thomasville, Ga., and Grace and Don Pierce of Lafayette, Colo.; granddaughter Beverly Pattison; and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, at St. Aidans Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colo.

Stephanie Platt, 89

NEWPORT BEACH - Stephanie H. Platt, 89, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, in Newport Beach.

Born Dec. 28, 1910, in Franklin, N.H., she lived in Newport Beach for three years and had lived in Escondido. She was a secretary for Beckman Instruments for 40 years before retiring.

Mrs. Platt is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Patricia of Newport Beach; and grandchildren Jessica of Newport Beach.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary. A graveside service will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Burial will follow.

Helen King, 80

OCEANSIDE - Helen Audrey King, 80, died Friday, March 31, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born May 18, 1919, in Lafayette, Ind., she lived in Oceanside for 29 years. She was chief clerk for Manon Railroad before retiring.

Mrs. King was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Joseph King, in 1993. She is survived by her son, Randal King of San Diego; daughter Deidre King of Otterbein, Ind.; brother Wayne Gingrich of Lafayette, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

A private family service is planned with burial to take place at Forest Lawn Glendale.

Oceanside Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Michael Robinette, 46

ENCINITAS - Michael Robinette, 46, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in an Encinitas resthome.

Born Feb. 14, 2000, in Victorville, he lived in the Carlsbad-Encinitas area for 26 years.

Mr. Robinette is survived by his mother, Edna Louise Robinette of Cardiff; daughter Crystal Rene Robinette of San Marcos; brother Allen Robinette of Valley Center; sister Connie Rene Robinette of Poway; and grandmother Frances Caroline Barr of Cardiff.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 2 p.m. today, April 8, at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego.

Encinitas Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Mary Dawson, 84

OCEANSIDE - Mary E. Dawson, 84, died Monday, April 3, 2000.

Born May 6, 1916, in Rockingham County, N.C., she lived in Southern California since 1934.

Mrs. Dawson is survived by her daughter, Mary Helen Stevens of Oceanside; granddaughter Tracie Anderson; and great-grandchildren Brittany Anderson and Eric Anderson of Ocean Springs, Miss.

No formal service is planned. Burial will take place at Green Hills Memorial Cemetery in Rancho Palos Verdes.

Steven Carlson, 41

POWAY - Steven Gust Carlson, 41, died Thursday, March 30, 2000.

Born April 3, 1958, in Maryland, he lived in Poway for 15 years. He served as an aviation 1st mechanic in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. He was a command senior chief at the Pacific Missile Range facility in Hawaii.

Mr. Carlson is survived by his wife, Cheryl Carlson of Poway; son Steven Carlson of Clovis; stepsons Justin Williams and Aaron Mendoza, both of Escondido; daughter Nicole Carlson of Poway; brother John Carlson of Connecticut; sisters Patty Bergman of New Hampshire, Kathy Barboza of Hyannis, Mass., and Eileen Carlson of Santa Paula; and three grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in Point Loma.

Bettye Edwards, 58

VISTA - Bettye Ann Edwards, 58, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at her home in Vista.

Born Oct. 16, 1941, in Plant City, Fla., she lived in North County for 34 years. She was a buyer for Arcadia Financial LTD of San Diego.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her son, Ervin Edwards Jr. of Oceanside; daughters Bettye A. Johnson of Lakeland, Fla., Tammy L. Edwards of Vista and Tabitha L. Edwards of Stone Mountain, Ga.; brothers Robert "Fella" Bryant, Lorenzo Bryant and Lonnie Bryant, all of Plant City; sisters Yvonne Newman of San Diego and Deadra Holly of Nashville, Tenn.; and grandchildren Splendid, Krystal and Brandon.

A graveside service will be held at noon Monday, April 10, at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, with the Rev. Milton Chamber of the United Missionary Baptist Church of San Diego officiating.

El Cajon Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Edwin Clark, 77

VISTA - Edwin T. Clark, 77, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at a local care center.

Born Jan. 8, 1923, in Union City, Pa., he lived in Vista for 13 years. He was an aeronautical engineer for Aerospace Corp. in El Segundo for 28 years and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a prisoner of war in the European Theater.

Mr. Clark is survived by his wife of 54 years, Ellenore Clark of Vista; son Edwin James Clark of Bloomington and Brian Haniel of Bremerton, Wash.; daughter Melinda Anne McCanna of Spring Valley; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A private family service is scheduled.

Jennie Scimo, 93

VISTA - Jennie Scimo, 93, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, in Oceanside.

Born Oct. 22, 1906, in Ohio, she lived in Vista for 33 years. She was a homemaker for more than 50 years and a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, helping with fundraising.

Mrs. Scimo was preceded in death by her husband, Victor Scimo. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Eleanor and Anthony Annis of Vista; daughter-in-law Felicia Scimo of Vista; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Eternal Hills Mortuary, with the Rev. Mulcahy officiating. A private interment will follow at Eternal Hills Memorial Park.

Roland Blamey, 77

MURRIETA - Roland E. Blamey, 77, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at his home.

Born Dec. 29, 1922, in Casper, Wyo., he lived in Murrieta. He was a field engineer for Stewart-Warner Electronics for 10 years, retiring in 1975. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force for three years, receiving an Army Occupation Ribbon, American Theater Campaign Ribbon, European-African-MidEastern Campaign Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon and three overseas service bars.

Mr. Blamey is survived by his wife, Maria L. Blamey; sons James F. de Leon of Cypress and Edward de Leon of Temple City; daughters Dr. Mary Lou Siantz of Bloomington, Ind., Carmen Hernandez of Torreon, Mexico, Sylvia Vasquez of Norwalk and Gloria Provincio of San Dimas; brothers William Brannen and Donald Brannen; and 14 grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Riverside National Cemetery. Burial will follow.

William Jones, 82

MENIFEE - William C. Jones, 82, died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his home.

Born Sept. 7, 1917, in Drew, Miss., he lived in Menifee for more than 50 years. He was a construction worker for Don Anderson in Temecula for 50 years.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife, Meradine Jones of Menifee; sons Bobby Jones of Huntington Beach, Donald Jones of Menifee, Harry Jones of Sun City and Terry Jones of Las Vegas; daughter Betty Tindle of Menifee; brother James Jones of Menifee; sister Ina Purvis of Sun City; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 9, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. A funeral service is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Miller-Jones Mortuary & Crematory in Sun City. Burial will follow at Elsinore Valley Cemetery.

Johnnie Mac Pherson, 65

SUN CITY - Johnnie S. Mac Pherson, 65, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000.

Born Jan. 16, 1933, in Boswell, Okla., she lived in Sun City for 22 years. She was a homemaker for 30 years.

Mrs. Mac Pherson was preceded in death by her son, Jimmy Mone, in February 1990. She is survived by her husband, Alex Mac Pherson of Sun City; sons Michael Mone of Grass Valley and Tracy Mone of Sun City; daughters Penny Lubanko of Murrieta and Stacy Mone of Sun City; sister Helen Peoples of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 10, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary. A graveside service is scheduled for noon Tuesday, April 11, at Riverside National Cemetery, Staging Area 1. Burial will follow.

Lillie Atchley, 70

WILDOMAR - Lillie Mae Atchley, 70 died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, of pulmonary hypertension, at Inland Valley Regional Medical Center in Wildomar.

Born July 5, 1929, in Valentine, Neb., she lived in Murrieta for 27 years. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Atchley is survived by her daughters, Kim Graham of Menifee and Patti Bieser of Murrieta; sisters Bonnie Lindomann of Temecula and Martha Swanson of Crescent City; grandsons Jason Graham of Menifee and Joshua Atchley of Palm Desert; great-grandsons Tyler, Tanner and Tarek Atchley of Palm Desert and Preslee Mae Graham of Menifee.

Visitation was held Friday, April 7, at Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service followed with burial at Temecula Cemetery.

Roland Williams, 67

MURRIETA - Roland Williams, 67, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, of cardiorespiratory arrest at Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Born April 15, 1932, in Blytheville, Ark., he lived in Murrieta for 10 years. He was a self-employed automotive technician for 40 years and served in the U.S. Army for two years.

Mr. Williams is survived by his son, Roland Williams Jr. of Murrieta; daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Lloyd Albano of Hemet; and grandchildren Lauren "Lori Beth" and Rebecca "Becca" Albano.

Visitation was held Friday, April 7, at Valley Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today, April 8, at Valley Funeral Home. Burial will take place at 3 p.m. today, April 8, at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier.

The family suggests memorial donations to Loma Linda Medical Center, PO Box 2000, Loma Linda, CA 92354.

Francis Bauer, 84

TUKWILA, Wash. - Francis A. Bauer, 84, died Saturday, March 25, 2000, at Tukwila Hospital.

Born July 27, 1915, in Waxahachie, Texas, he lived in Tukwila for six months. He worked for North American Aviation in Los Angeles, retiring in 1967. He taught organ and piano in Lake Elsinore for 20 years and was a member of the Elks Club, Shriners and Masonic Lodge in Lake Elsinore.

Mr. Bauer is survived by his sons, Dan Baker of Lake Elsinore and Terry Baker of Thousand Oaks; daughter Susan White of Tukwila; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 8, at Stout Family Funeral Home. Burial will follow at noon at Wildomar Cemetery.

Harlan Smith, 71
MENIFEE - Harlan Walter Smith, 71, Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his residence.

Born June 6, 1928, in Minniapolis, Kan., he lived in Menifee for eight years. He was a carpenter for 45 years, and was self-employed in Orange County. He served in the Army from 1951-53, and belonged to the Lake Elsinore Moose Lodge.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Betty Smith, of Menifee; daughters Susan Rodriguez of San Clemente and Vicki Roberts of Oceanside; sons Kent Smith of Salt Lake City, Craig Smith of Laguna Niguel and Mike Smith of Colorado; brothers Earl Smith of La Jolla and Warren Smith of Vista; sisters Dorothy Kaiser and Betty Snavely, both of Carlsbad, and Pauly Brownell of Mission Viejo; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, April 10, at Evans Brown Sun City Mortuary. Private cremation is planned.

Lloyd Roybal, 71
VISTA - Lloyd Joseph Roybal, 71, died Saturday, April 8, 2000, at his home.
Born Feb. 11, 1929, in Pecos, N.M., he lived in Vista for 20 years. He was a real estate broker for Realty Executives for 20 years and served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1948 to 1951.

Mr. Roybal is survived by his wife, Doris Roybal of Vista; sons Lloyd Roybal Jr. of Reno, Nev., Larry Roybal of Laguna Hills, Lee Roybal of Vista and Lonnie Roybal of San Marcos; daughters Kathy Berkley of Marysville, Wash., and Karen Boisvert of Vista; sisters Jeannie Kern of Oxnard and Tess Smity of Murrieta; 14 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 5 to 9 p.m., with a rosary recited at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11, at Allen Brothers Mortuary, Vista Chapel. A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 12, at St. Francis Catholic Church, with the Rev. Patrick Mulcahy officiating. A private burial will take place at Riverside National Cemetery.

Walter Chase, 78

FALLBROOK - Walter M. Chase, 78, died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at his home.

Born April 12, 1921, in Needham, Mass., he lived in Fallbrook for 19 years. He worked for the naval electronics laboratory in San Diego, retiring in 1981, and served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.

Mr. Chase is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Chase of Fallbrook; daughter Candace Chase Olsen of Moraga; and sister Barbara Palson of Medfield, Mass.

No service will be held at the request of the deceased. A private cremation is planned.

The family suggests memorial donations to the Fallbrook Land Conservancy's "Save Our Forests" Project, PO Box 2701, Fallbrook, Ca 92088.
