Born Sept. 19, 1947, in Los Angeles, she lived in Oceanside for 32 years.
Mrs. Niebuhr was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Norman W. Niebuhr.
She is survived by her husband, John Niebuhr of Oceanside; mother Lupe of San Jacinto; son Norman Niebuhr of Oceanside; mother-in-law Mary Alice Niebuhr of Wannakee, Wis.; three brothers; seven sisters; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. with rosary recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 12, at Eternal Hills Mortuary. A funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, April 13, at Eternal Hills Mortuary.

MENIFEE - Betty Jeanne Richards, 71, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at Menifee Valley Medical Center in Sun City.
Born Oct. 16, 1929, in Michigan, she lived in Menifee for 11 years. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Richards is survived by her husband, James Richards of Menifee; sons James Richards IV of Riverside and Edward A. Richards of Fullerton; daughters Sandra Jackson of Vista and Nancy McIntosh of Canyon Lake; brothers Art Johnson of Sandy Ridge, W. Va., Eli Johnson of Akron, Ohio and Richard Johnson of Alpena, Mich.; sister Dorothy Yachuak of Phelan; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at Miller-Jones Mortuary Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. today, April 11, at Riverside National Cemetery, staging area 5.

OCEANSIDE - Sotie Comon Sahaydak, 56, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at her home.
Born Jan. 12, 1945, in Surigao, Philippine Islands, she lived in Oceanside for one year. She had lived in Michigan previously.
She was a homemaker for 18 years.
Ms. Sahaydak is survived by her daughter, Jane Archer of Greensboro, Victoria, Australia; sister and brother-in-law Laling and Dan Gray of Oceanside; grandchildren Kaitren, Dale and Leigh Archer, all of Australia; nephews Alan Gunther and Mike Schooley of Oceanside; and nieces Gemma Portnoy and Stephanie Cragg, both of Oceanside and Sandra Gunther of Sacramento.

She served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Andrews was preceded in death by her husband, Howard H. Andrews Sr., on March 15, 1987.

ESCONDIDO - Charles Doug Lett, 70, died Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Russell Springs, Ky., of a stroke.
Born Oct. 4, 1930, in Buffalo, N.Y., he lived in Escondido for 16 years.
He was a minister at Bread of Life Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as a staff sergeant.
He worked for FAA Communications and was a minister since 1985.
Mr. Lett is survived by his wife of 25 years, Ruth Lett of Escondido; sons Douglas Lett Jr., and Ricky Lett, both of Buffalo; daughters and son-in-law Wendy and Doug Richardson of Buffalo and Amanda Clack of Escondido; brother George Lett of Buffalo; sisters and brother-in-law Gloria Bidenkoff of Buffalo and Carol and Ed Kowalski of Buffalo; and grandchildren Jared, Caitlyn and Angela.

Mrs. Yamada was preceded in death by her husband, Fred T. Yamada, on Dec. 26, 1989.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Susan A. and Wayne Teeter of San Diego; brothers and sisters-in-law Joe and Evelyn Ohno and George and Kay Ohno; sister and brother-in-law Mari and Mitsuru Suko; and grandchildren Matthew Takashi Teeter and Shawn Akio Teeter.

Mrs. Valadez is survived by her sons Reyes Valadez of Oceanside, Hugo Zavala of Culver City, Lupe Zavala of Oceanside and Juan Zavala of Tijuana; daughters Anna Valadez, Julia Valadez, Concha Valadez, Olivia Valadez, Blanca Zavala, all of Oceanside; 25 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

ESCONDIDO - Lillian Hanson Ellner, 76, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at Palomar Medical Center in Escondido.
Born May 2, 1924, in Newark, N.J., she lived in Escondido for 22 years.
She was a District Manager for Avon Products both in New Jersey and California. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Jewish War Veterans, an usher for the Escondido Center for the Arts, took classes in drawing and stained glass at Palomar College, and enjoyed playing cards and Mah Jong.
Mrs. Ellner is survived by her husband of 54 years, Seymour Ellner of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Judi and David Norton of Escondido, Harriet Ellner and Tim Scranton of Ocean Grove, N.J., and Patti and Guy Wetzel of Santee; and grandchildren Jason and Jessica Norton and Traci and Tyler Wetzel.
A funeral service was held at Adat Shalom in Poway on April 10, 2001, followed by burial at sea.

Born March 4, 1924 in Porterdale, Ga., she lived in Ramona for 31 years.
She was an active member of the Berean Bible Church in Ramona.
Mrs. Neuffer is survived by her husband, Howard E. Neuffer of Ramona; son Philip Savage of Seattle, Wash.; brother Harold Rollins of Indianapolis, Ind.; and sister Barbara Kile of Georgia.
A memorial service was held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 11 at the Berean Bible Church of Ramona. Graveside services and burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday April 13 at Ramona Nuevo Memory Gardens where she will be buried next to her son, Terry Savage, who died in February, 1973. Pastor Paul Owens will officiate.

Born July 25, 1923 in Sac City Iowa, he was a Real Estate Broker in Vista and retired attorney.
Mr. Shadle served with the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served in many civic positions: former member of the Board of Governors of Palomar College, past President of the Vista Chamber of Commerce, past Commander of Morningside Park American Legion Post #398, former Director and Secretary of The Harvard Club of Southern California, Chairman of the Citizen's Advisory Committee for the Vista General Plan, past President of the Los Angeles International Airport Optimist Club and Member of Board of Directors of the Torrey Pines Bank.
Mr. Shadle is survived by his wife, Olga Shadle of Oceanside; daughter Joy Ehrenfeld of Del Mar; on Thomas E. Shadle of Vista; sister Marjorie Peters of Des Moines, Iowa; and grandchildren Daniel and Steven Enrenfeld and Selena and Julian Shadle.

CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA - Jacqueline Irlene Harms, 82, died Monday, April 9, 2001, in Cedar City, Iowa.
Born April 27, 1918 in Alliance, Neb., she was a member of the United Methodist Church of Alden, Neb., and retired as a teacher at Alden Community School. She was involved in ISEA, NEA, Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star, Order of Rainbow for Girls, Iowa Hereford Auxiliary and was a church organist.
Mrs. Harms was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Harms and two brothers Roger and Burdette Wallace. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Simonis of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Sharon and Terry Shaffer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Melanie and Tom Raulerson of Decorah, Iowa; sister Reginia Weight of Lee's Summit, Miss.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 12, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Surls Funeral Home in Alden, Iowa. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 13, 2001, at 3 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Alden, Iowa, followed by burial in Alden Cemetery. The Rev. Darwin Moore will officiate.

FALLBROOK - John Frank Blanche, 50, died April 7, 2001 in Fallbrook.
Born December 17, 1950 in Trenton, N.J., he lived in Fallbrook for five years.
He served in the USMC for 21 years, and was a member of the American Bar Association. He was also an active in leadership of the Youth Soccer League in Fallbrook.
Mr. Blanche is survived by his wife of 26, years, Rebecca Jo Blanche of Fallbrook; mother Kathleen H. Blanche of Pennsylvania; son John Joseph Blanche of Fallbrook; daughter Jamie Marie Blanche of Fallbrook; and brother Commander William H. Blanche, USN, of North Carolina.

Born November 28, 1910, in Nashville, Ga., she was a San Diego resident for seven years.
She traveled extensively during her husband's Navy career. She lived in Hawaii, France and Iceland.
Mrs. Buie was preceded in death by her husband, Rear Admiral Paul D. Buie who died in 1972. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law Isabel and Douglas E. Buie, and Pamela and Robert Buie of San Diego; daughter and son-in law June B. and Peel Dillard of Tappannock, Va., and six grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Tuesday April 17, 2001, at Arlington National Cemetery.

Barney Hall, Jr., 86
LAKE SAN MARCOS - Barney Marcus Hall, Jr., 86, died on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at his home in Lake San Marcos.
Born April 5, 1915, he was a resident of San Diego County for 50 years. He retired from General Dynamics as a purchaser after 35 years. He was a First Lieutenant in the Army/Air Corps and piloted B-17s over England during WWII. He loved golf and spent 10 years traveling with his wife. In 1990 he was honored for his extensive volunteer work for Scripps Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Hall is survived by his wife of 10 years, Carolyn Hall of Lake San Marcos; step-sons and daughters-in-law Maureen and Michael Dame of Carlsbad, and Mary and Bruce Dame of Layton, Utah step-daughter and son-in-law Patricia and Bill Henderson of Ogden, Utah; and five grandchildren.
Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Springville City, Utah.

Sydney Taylor, 89
LOUISVILLE, Colo. - Sydney J. Taylor, 89, died on Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Louisville, Colo.
Born July 17, 1911, in Edinburgh Scotland, he was a 12-year resident of Lake San Marcos. He retired in 1971 as vice president of Trust Division of a major California bank. He served in the Canadian Army as Quartermaster during WWII, then spent a year in Europe volunteering with the United Nationals relief agency, UNRRA, helping refugees and displaced persons. He wrote eight books of poetry and fiction, including "The Emissary" and "The Radiance of Love."
Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife of 63 years, Etheleon Taylor of Boulder, Colo.; son and daughter-in-law Judy and Rodney Taylor of Boulder, Colo.; brothers Alastair Taylor of British Columbia and John Taylor of Ojai; and three grandchildren, Meghan, Annika and Dylon Taylor of Boulder, Colo.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2001, at Questhaven Retreat, 20560 Questhaven Road, Escondido. The Rev. Hal Lingerman will preside.
